The Fragrance Foundation has announced the semi-finalists for the 2010 Fifi Awards, known as the "Oscars of the fragrance industry". Note that some categories show more than 10 fragrances because of tied votes and some have fewer than 10 because not enough fragrances were nominated.

hi Natori, good luck : D
🙂
I am rooting for the Prada, but the Natori is the other “best” in that list, agree.
Gump’s Baroque Pearl amazing!!!!
Yeah?
so you ‘gave it at least 2 more tries’ and still did not move you, right?
: )
It did not move me, true! But said “Yeah?” more because I wasn’t sure what was meant by the original comment. Amazing scent? Amazing that it was chosen?
oh I see. thanks Robin. I wanted to check this, and was waiting if you had any further comments, but finally had to realize TPC did not have it, so end of the story : )
Oh, gotcha. I thought it was a well made, pretty scent with really fab packaging (the outer box is way cool). Nothing amazing that I’d jump through hoops for though.
Bebe? Alright i guess. Im not in luv w/ any of the luxe finalists. Id pick Parisienne though. Ck Free, Play, & Challenge? Gross. If Play Intense were nominated than Id go w/ that one. Artisan should win in that category. Prada Ambree no doubt!! I LOVE IT! I havent tried any of the mens niche or unique. : (
In women’s luxe, I’d pick Chanel Cristalle or Parisienne. Men’s luxe: JV Artisan, no doubt. The Unique Boutique list is kind of weird, don’t even know what I’d pick.
For the Unique Boutique I would vote for the Killian Back to Black. It is one of my favorite tobacco scents. It was also the 1st high end scent that my friend really wanted to acquire a bottle of. I’m also a huge fan of Swiss Unlimited. I use the fragrance and the shower gel and it never fails to amaze with it’s longevity and quality.
I really need to go try the Swiss Unlimited!
Someone actually likes Very Hollywood? I love Michael Kors designs but haven’t yet been able to sample any of his perfumes without sneezing and backing away quickly. Parisienne was fun, and I enjoyed the Prada…and of course the Chanel! And good luck to MFK’s Aqua Universalis!
Someone must like it, LOL…
Would be cool if FK won.
There’s something I do not undersant about those awards. It’s supposed to be the Oscars of Fragrance Industry, but the perfumes in Women’s Nouveau Niche aren’t impressive. Where’s L’Artisan? Or Serge Lutens? Or Annick Goutal? Or or or….?
Well first off, companies have to enter, and I don’t know if either Annick Goutal or Serge Lutens or L’Artisan entered.
Second, as we all know, the very best movies don’t always get nominated — or win — the Oscars. Sometimes the crowd pleasers win instead. Same thing here, which is why I’ve always thought the Oscars reference was apt.
How and when do they announce who and which blogs are finalists and/or winners for the Editorial awards?
Joe, so far as I know, they are not doing blog awards this year — at least, we were never told about it (and last year, we were) and there is no mention of blog awards for 2010 on the Fragrance Foundation website, I don’t think.
Correction — they are apparently doing a blog award this year. We were not asked to apply, oh well!
Go go Grey Vetiver! 😀 The mens Nouveau Niche is very underwhelming though … only three houses?
It’s really weird that the whole six scents collection is there.
Ohhhh! For once I find a fragrance to root for in these Fifi awards: Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise. I do not like vanilla solinotes, but this was really cleverly done. I am sure it won’t win, but it makes a stunning layering tool IMO, and the anise just works!
(I usually don’t like that note either!)
If a bottle fell into my lap, I would be happy to wear it/layer it!
I liked V&A too.
