1/31: Celebrate Backward Day by reversing your usual perfume choice or routine in some way.
2/8: Now Smell This is 15! For our birthday, we're moving the Friday Project to Saturday, and meshing it with the Lazy Weekend Poll. Wear a fragrance that you found out about from Now Smell This, or received in a freebiemeet, swapmeet or splitmeet, or just wear a favorite fragrance that you've talked about on Now Smell This. Plus, if you can, share the single best tip or piece of advice you ever received from another reader. (There will be no post on Friday, by the way, because I'm traveling again...if you want to chat, use the Thursday poll!)
2/14: For Valentine's Day, wear the perfume you are most smitten with at the moment, or, wear a perfume given to you by a significant other.
2/21: Wear a fragrance by Parfum d'Empire, Parfums DelRae, Penhaligon's, Pacifica or Parfumerie Generale, if you have one. (Yes, we already did a community project for Parfums de Nicolaï). Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter P.
2/28: Unicorn Friday: wear a perfume you suspect no one else (or almost no one else) on Now Smell This owns, or something that you very rarely see worn or mentioned. Suggested by Oakland Fresca.
3/6: It's The Day of the Dude. Take it easy, man.
3/13: It's Jewel Day...wear your blingiest, most attention-grabbing perfume.
3/20: It's the International Day of Happiness. Wear the perfume that most reliably increases your happiness!
3/27: Wear a perfume by Robert Piguet, Rochas, Roger & Gallet or Reminiscence, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter R.
4/3: April is Poetry Month. Tell us about a favorite poem (or link to the text) and wear a fragrance to match.
4/10: It's Siblings Day. Wear two fragrances that might be siblings, or wear one and tell us about the other, or wear a fragrance that your sibling wears, or interpret this project in any way you like.
4/17: Picture challenge, edition 5. Wear a perfume that matches the picture, which is Three Dancers, Mills College, 1930, by photographer Imogen Cunningham. More reading here, or listen to a brief interview on Cunningham here.
4/24: Wear a perfume by Santa Maria Novella, Sonoma Scent Studio, Smell Bent, S-Perfumes or Strange Invisible Perfumes if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter S.
5/1: It's May Day! Wear the fragrance that sent you down the rabbit hole (and don't forget to rabbit rabbit rabbit). (I think someone suggested this project, raise your hand if it was you!)
5/8: Friday is Iris Day, so we'll repeat our project from 2016: wear an iris fragrance, if you have one.
5/15: It's the International Day of Families! Name your favorite fragrance family, and wear one or more fragrances in that family, OR, make up your own fragrance family (like, say, wood pudding), define it for us, and wear the best example of that family.
5/22: It's World Goth Day — get your goth on!
5/29: Wear a perfume by The Different Company, Tauer Perfumes, Tokyo Milk, Tocca or Téo Cabanel, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter T.
6/5: Wear a perfume with osmanthus, if you have one.
6/12: In the garden...wear a perfume that was inspired by a particular garden, or that reminds you of a particular garden, or that just smells like a garden in general. (I think someone suggested this, raise your hand if it was you!)
6/19: Fantasy Vacation Friday: pick a destination and wear the scent that takes you there. (This is a repeat from 2015.)
6/26: Wear a perfume by Une Nuit Nomade, Ulrich Lang, Vilhelm Parfumerie or Vero Profumo if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letters U or V.
7/3: Wear a perfume with ylang ylang, if you have one.
7/10: It's Piña Colada Day. Wear a perfume with pineapple, coconut, rum, or any combination of the three.
7/17: Nouveau Niche, updated...wear a perfume from a new (2015+) niche brand. (A repeat from 2015.)
7/24: Wear a perfume by Zoologist, Xerjoff, Worth Paris or Yosh if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letters W, X, Y or Z.
7/31: Best of summer: wear the perfume you're reaching for the most this summer. (If it's winter where you are, wear the perfume you're reaching for the most this winter.)
8/7: Playlist Friday: name a favorite song, and wear a perfume that fits the song. (We did this project twice in 2017.)
8/14: It's Creamsicle Day! Wear a creamsicle fragrance if you have one.
8/21: Captured Unicorn Friday. Wear a perfume that you thought would be impossible to get, but you managed it. If you have not yet captured a unicorn, wear anything you like and tell us about the unicorn you'd like to catch. Suggested by Undina.
8/28: Dealer's Choice, edition 4: propose a theme for a Friday community project, and wear a fragrance that fits your theme.
9/4: As we approach the change in seasons, we're doing Zest and Smoulder...wear a fragrance with citrus and smoky notes, or, layer two fragrances to achieve the same affect, or interpret the theme in whatever way works for your collection. Suggested by Glannys.
9/11: Wear a perfume with cardamom, if you have one.
9/18: Soft spot...wear a perfume that you may or may not wear often, and may or may not really love, but that remains dear to you for some other reason. Suggested by Kanuka.
9/25: National Comic Book Day...name a favorite comic book character, and wear the fragrance that suits him or her.
10/2: On the back roads by the rivers of my memory: do what you like with the lyric from the 1968 song Gentle on My Mind. Suggested by Mossyberry.
10/9: Beatlemania...celebrate John Lennon's birthday by naming your favorite Beatles or John Lennon song, and wear the perfume to match.
10/16: Back to the beginning: revisit a fragrance you tried in your early days as a perfumista. Suggested by springpansy.
10/23: Wear a floriental, if you have one.
10/30: Emotionally scented...wear a perfume that gives you a strong emotional response (it makes you laugh, cry, feel sad, or becomes part of your armor to face the world, etc). Suggested by johanob, who gave the example of Guerlain L’Heure Bleue, which makes him feel sad.
11/6: Nostalgia Friday...wear something that takes you back to a happy moment in your childhood. Suggested by starling.
11/13: Chanel No. 5 Friday! Wear Chanel No. 5, or a No. 5 flanker, or a fragrance that is related to No. 5 in some way (it does not have to be by Chanel!)
11/20: For Bo Derek's birthday, wear a perfume that you would rate an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10.
11/27: Pick your Black Friday poison: wear the last fragrance you bought, wear a cheap thrill, or wear a fragrance you love but refuse to buy in a full size because it's too expensive.
12/4: It's National Cookie Day. Do what you like with the theme, and feel free to link to your favorite recipe.
12/11: Wear a perfume with violet, if you have one.
12/18: Best of 2020...wear one of your favorite fragrance releases of 2020.
12/25: Merry Christmas! No community project today, but if you're around, do tell us what fragrance you're wearing. (This post will probably go up on the 24th.)
