The Fragrance Foundation of the United States has announced the finalists for the 2008 Fifi Awards, known as the "Oscars of the fragrance industry". For each category, the original list of 10 semi-finalists is now whittled down to 5 (or more, in the case of a tie). The final awards will be presented on May 20; the award statue is shown at right. And the finalists are:

i was at the Fifi finalists breakfast that morning of the announcement, and in our goody bag was a nice sampling/assortment of many of the finalists' fragrances. so far my favorite is versace, which is a soft, subtle “skin” floral with a hint of sweetness.
Not my cup of tea, the Versace, but glad you got it free if you love it!
