Posted by Robin on 23 February 2007 21 Comments

Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche perfume

Chanel will launch Chance Eau Fraîche, a new lighter version of 2002's Chance fragrance, next month.

The scent was developed by Chanel's house perfumer, Jacques Polge, and the notes include citron, water hyacinth, jasmine absolute, white musk, vetiver, amber patchouli and teak wood.

Chanel Chance Eau Fraîche will be available in 50 ml bottles. (via aufeminin)

release called 'Reve', which I thought was a Chance flanker? Would that be in addition to this Eau, I wonder, or are they the same thing?

I really wish houses wouldn't issue all these spin-off; they confuse the brand image in the long run.

Sorry, my post seemed to get scrambled! It was supposed to begin with 'I had an idea there was an upcoming Chanel'.

I have been hearing rumors about Reve forever…who knows? They haven't done a major feminine launch (I am not counting the Les Exclusifs, which aren't mainstream) since 2002, so you would think we were due for one.

I actually smelled this today in the Chicago NM. Fruity-floral, reminded me of apple juice maybe? i think it will appeal to girls the age of the one in the promo photo…i didn't really like Chance to begin with, and this doensn't smell much like the original.

Lighter in concentration — it is less concentrated than an Eau de Toilette.

I actually really liked this one. I've always been a little wary of very fresh fragrances since an unfortunate encounter with Ralph by Ralph Lauren in 9th grade, but this was really impressive. It smells really sweet in the bottle, but ends up much spicier on my skin, so the sweetness/freshness isn't overpowering. The lemony top notes also help counter any sickly sweet notes one might expect. And the drydown isn't static either- it transforms enough for my satisfaction. I ended up buying this for myself, along with the original Chance for my sister (so that I can steal it, of course).
Only problem is the staying power, but I re-apply during the day.

Chance is just not a favorite of mine, but I do like the Eau Fraiche better than the original. Glad you love it!

I was just trying to find some mention of Chance on here so I could ask you your opinion of it. :) During my last trip to the perfume counter after a long and rather pleasant talk with a decently well-informed sales lady, she gave me a sample or Chance (I didn't even ask for one!) and said that I might like it. It took me a while to try it and a while more to get over the slight slap in the face that it begins with (Yes, I generally like my perfumes soft) but now I adore it. My sample's about half gone, and I can feel my bank account getting ready to drop a bit because I think I must have a bottle. But, I'm curious, what things about it didn't you like so much? Did it just not mesh with your skin chemistry, or was it more of an issue with the actual perfume?

I don't know, I guess it is sweeter than I'd like, and in general don't think it is as well-done as it ought to be, being from Chanel.

I've worn this about 3 times now and I'm really starting to like it. The original Chance was nice, young and fresh smelling, but just didn't suit me. I think the Eau Fraiche has a bit more depth. The SA said he thought a man could even wear it. I could see that. It reminds me a lot of Philosophy The Fragrance. Probably won't make a purchase anytime soon. My summer goal is to get by on samples, I've made too many impulse purchases lately.

P.S. I could really care less about the cheerleader or go-go dancer in the ad, though it is slightly humorous. :-) I like what I like, I'm learning to just go with it!

I should think a man could definitely wear it….it's pretty fresh & clean.

I actually liked this. I'm glad they came out with a less concentrated one because I find the Eau de Parfum quite overpowering and made me a tad dizzy. :P

This is a really good mainstreamer and after four weeks I got it a bit cheaper :-) I really like it, it is uncomplicated, joyful and young. Like me ;-) or at least the mood I would like to be!

Wait, are you talking about this one, or about the new Tendre?
