Nina by Nina Ricci, Lumar Beverly Hills & more new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 30 May 2006 11 Comments

Nina by Nina Ricci perfumeNina Ricci will launch a new perfume, Nina, in July in France, in the US in September:

The fruity floral EdT, composed by Olivier Cresp and Jacques Cavallier of Firmenich, was developed with the Asian consumer in mind. Notes include lemon, apple, peony and praline over a base of apple wood and white cedar and musk. (via cosmeticnews)

Nina Ricci also hopes the new scent will "broaden the brand's core audience to a younger demographic". Additional notes include caipirinha lime and moonflower. Nina by Nina Ricci will be available in 30, 50 and 80 ml, and in matching body products. (via Women's Wear Daily)

Lumar Bevery Hills Aphrodisiac fragranceLumar Beverly Hills has launched Aphrodisiac (see bottle at right), a "seductive and playful" fragrance with top notes of neroli, white rose petals, mimosa and orange blossom; heart notes of lily of the valley, tuberose and tonka; and base notes of coffee flower, amber, hibiscus seeds and patchouli. (via press release from Lumar Beverly Hills)

Parfumerie Generale has released seven new fragrances:

No. 10, Aomassai, is "inspired by Southern Africa and the art of the Baoulé tribe", and includes caramel, toasted hazelnuts, spices, vetiver, balsam wood, bitter orange, incense, liquorice, wengué wood, dried grasses and resin.

No. 11, Harmatan Noir, is "inspired by the Sahara" and feaures dried flowers, wood, salt, and mint tea.

No 12, Hyperessence Matale, is the concentrated version of Eau Rare Matale. Notes include citrus, jasmine, black Matale tea, cedar leaves, musk and pepper.

No. 13, Brulure de Rose, is a "stylistic composition dedicated to the Rose, surrounded by metallic and powdery tones." Notes include Brazilian rosewood, greenery, rose, rose amber, raspberry musk, vanilla and cocoa.

No. 14, Iris Taizo, features cardamom, iris, jinkoh wood, fig-tree honey and Mexican vanilla.

No. 15, Ilang Ivohibe, includes Madagascan ylang-ylang, Californian orange and Egyptian jasmine and vanilla.

No. 16, Jardins de Kerylos, is described as the "minimalist elegance of a blend of fresh figs and sycamore wood, borne on the grassy freshness of a shady garden. The intensity of an ocean breeze sweeping across the burning rocks of an island in the Cyclades… a natural and luminous aesthetic."

(via press release from parfumerie-generale) Marina of Perfume Smellin' Things has reviews of some of these scents today.

Dessert Treats & Jessica Simpson have introduced Hula Girl, a fragrance with coconut, mango and banana. (via desserttreats)

All seven of the new PG fragrances are amazing. My favourites of the bunch are Brulure de Rose, Aomassai followed by Harmatan Noir and Hyperessence Matale. They are all available as part of the Chapitre 2 collection. I reviewed most of them a few weeks ago on POL.

I'll be interested in trying Nina. I actually have a bottle of Nina Ricci perfume, called Nina. My Mom and I both wear this. It was launched in 1987 and is a green floral. Here are the notes (from Jan Moran's Fabulous Fragrances):

Top: Bergamot, mimosa, cassia tree buds, basil, orange blossom, marigold.

Mid: Jasmine, mimosa, rose, violet, ylang-ylang.

    Base: Iris, sandalwood, vetiver, cassis.

Looks like the new Nina is not the old formula.

They sound quite different, and I would guess I'd prefer the old version. I hate it when companies re-use old perfume names, you would think they would rather use something new…

    Hi.

Nina was composed by Jacques Cavallier and Olivier Cresp (not Polge).

The launch is in july for Europe but I've heard it won't come to you in US before last year.

The bottle is a red/ pink apple with a metal cap like silver leaves.

PS : Previous 'Nina' won't be available anymore

of course in the previous comment, it was 'next year', not 'last year'.
