Versace by Versace ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 13 March 2007 22 Comments

Versace by Versace perfumeVersace has launched a new fragrance for women, called simply (and ungoogleably) Versace. It is described as...

A unique fragrance, floral, fresh and sparkling.

A transparent radiance reveals fresh dew drops sweetened by lush, hydroponic guava and icy hints of blackcurrant. A sumptuous heart is an explosion of light and vibrant flowers - orchid, lotus flower and nymphea.

The fragrance is finally enveloped by the silky softness of a veil of musk, enwrapped by precious, warm Kashmir wood. (via harrods)

Additional notes include wisteria, lilac, jasmine, vetiver and cedar. The Versace Eau de Parfum will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml and in matching body products. It is available now at Harrods or for preorder at escentual, and will launch in other venues over the coming months. (additional information via punmiris, basenotes, cosmeticnews)

I don't like most of Versace's perfumes, and neither the fashion, but loved Crystal Noir.Have you ever smelled it?

Admittedly, only on a test strip, and didn't care for it, but should put it on skin one of these days to see if it makes a better impression.

    Another fruity floral. Yawn.

I tried Versace Woman a few times and quite liked it (also a fruity floral, but not a cloying one – the bottle is great). This one has some nice notes, but I just can't get excited about fruit at all.

Other than Versace Dreamer, I haven't really paid much attention to the Versace perfume line. This sounds possibly ok, but as you note, not terribly exciting. We'll see!

I haven't smell it yet, but I love their print. I know it is nothing really special, we still recognize at the first sight that it is for a fragrance, but the double page looks great

oh i disagree. this is not your typical fruity floral. Despite Versace's bold, attention-getting, flamboyant designs, this fragrance is totally the opposite: gentle. quiet. it WHISPERS, it's not sharp at all; more like a very soft version of MJ Daisy without the zing and tang.

it's a sophisticated, nuzzly white floral with hints of fruitiness. again it is VERY subtle. if you liked crystal noir, you'll like this one.

    i love it.

It doesn't work for me, but then, neither does Crystal Noir. Versace & I mostly don't mix ;-)

Not at all, it is meant to be the new Versace signature scent — so assume it will be around for a good long while.

This IS “Aqua di Gio” by Giorgio Armani. It is so strikingly similar, I thought a new flanker of “AdG” was being released.

I'll have to try them together…I thought this was much sweeter/heavier? Maybe you're right :-)

I am going to order it. It has wisteria, which I love, if its not too fruit heavy. I don't know what guava smells like. I like pear and mango. I'm taking a big risk being on disability and fixed income. But D&G light blue disappionted me-I just smell like granny smith apple. So now I have credit at sephora for a fragrance. If I like pear and mango, guava can't be to far off can it? I don't know, sometimes you've got to leap. I knew I'd like for the honeysuckle from Annick Goutal and I do. I just have a *feeling* about this…plus great reviews from people who have tried it,(not the best ESP). It's not way different, but only the skin knows for sure right?

Well I got it. I basically prayed around the bottle before I spritzed it. I thought Versace wants this as their signature scent, so at least it should be elegant, right? I should have done the perfume dance around the bottle for extra insurance. well, the first thing I thought was…blackberry jam! Versace wants to smell like blackberry jam! Another sell out to youth. But, after the fruit dies down, it turns into a really lovely sparkly floral you can't place, then drys down to slight woody warmth. Hmm, I keep spraying it everywhere , so I must like jam. I think I'm becoming addicted to it. I won't be sending this one back..go figure.

No unfortunately I live in Wichita Ks. We have Dillards and Von Mar :(

    I got it on Sephora online…we don't even have a Sephora…just cows :)

I would love the body cream though, since it doesn't seem to have a long silage.

So it hooked you too huh? Well at least the opening is a pleasant fruit.

    Joy,

Yes, I really love this fragrance. Its beautiful. My Best Friend loves it also! Versace really did great with this one. Have you tried their Bright Crystal??? It opens up to a Grapefruitish smell, and the drydown is just beautiful. My auntie used to wear Versace Crystal Noir, and now I like Bright Crystal :). Versace is my favorite though
