Fashion design house established by designer Carolina Herrera in 1980. Herrera was born in Venezuela and moved to the United States in 1981. The CH Carolina Herrera bridge/lifestyle line was added in 1986 and expanded in the mid-2000s to include fragrances and stand-alone boutiques.
Herrera reportedly mixed her own blend of jasmine and tuberose for years before launching her own fragrance line, and also wore Fracas, Joy and Jungle Gardenia (Women's Wear Daily, 2/19/1988).
The fragrance license is held by Puig Beauty. Her first fragrance, Carolina Herrera, was released in 1988. Other releases include Carolina Herrera for Men (1991), 212 (1997), Chic (2002), Carolina (2003), Chic for men (2004), 212 Sexy (2004).
In 2015, the brand introduced a luxury, limited distribution collection under the name Herrera Confidential. The initial offerings included six fragrances: Herrera Tuberose, Burning Rose, Nightfall Patchouli, Oud Couture, Neroli Boheme and Amber Desire, plus four essential oils for layering (oud, musk, rose and sandalwood). Later additions include Mystery Tobacco (2016), Gold Incense (2017), Bergamot Bloom, Blond Jasmine, Orange Affair, Rose Cruise, Vetiver Paradise and Virgin Mint (2017), Blossom Elixir & Citrus Elixir (2017), Bronze Tonka, Platinum Leather & Pure Oil Of Royal Honey (2018), Sandal Ruby (2019), Emerald Musk (2019).
