Carolina Herrera CH Grand Tour ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 6 October 2014 5 Comments

Carolina Herrera CH Grand Tour

Carolina Herrera has launched CH Grand Tour and CH Men Grand Tour, a new duo of limited edition flankers to 2007’s Carolina Herrera CH and 2009's CH Men. The Grand Tour scents were inspired by luxury train travel.

CH Grand Tour ~ "The feminine fragrance hits you with a scent of Brazilian citrus fruit: orange, lemon and grapefruit provide the first freshness on this trip. A delicious new aroma arises when adding the elegant and velvety iris flower to the mixture. The fragrance continues with the addition of the characteristic orange blossom. A touch of dulce de leche from Argentina adds a sweet and delicious aroma as a finishing touch for the fragrance. The original red leather bottle is replaced by exotic pink ostrich leather casing. The charms and finishes have been updated: from the original silver to gold with new charms added in the form of a train and hatter."

CH Men Grand Tour ~ "The male version opens with a profusion of vibrant incense enhanced by a mix of Yerba Maté typical of Argentina. The suede leather adds that sensual and enveloping touch that characterises the fragrance. Deep woody tones of mahogany provide the final touch of masculinity to the fragrance. Its black crocodile skin bottle finished in two bands of colour are reminiscent of old suitcases."

The men’s sounds interesting. This is the first time I’ve heard of Yerba Mate scent as a fragrance ingredient…it’s sure distinctive. Brings back memories of childhood. I grew up in Argentina where many people drink yerba mate, not coffee, as their hot breakfast beverage. And the dulce de leche…well, that gets me going too…I can remember that on freshly baked French bread…Interesting mix of fragrances! All that’s missing is the scent of malbec grapes. That malbec wine is great with steaks.

Lorenzo Villoresi has a fragrance called Yerba Mate – very well done, very green with tea and notes of hay (amongst others that escape my mind at the moment). The scent itself evolves into a really nice powdery, barbershop type scent so I’m curious as to its usage here as well.

It’s actually not that uncommon…if you do a search here on ‘mate note’ you’ll find lots.

They both sound nice, although for me that pink is off-putting.

I like the men’s bottle better too.
