Nelly Rodi Scent Factory, Herrera Aqua by Carolina Herrera & Zara for men ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 30 August 2005 14 Comments

Nelly Rodi Scent Factory fragrancesNelly Rodi Scent Factory is a set of 8 numbered fragrances by well known noses: Parfum 1: Incense by Alexis Dadier, Parfum 2: Rhum by Olivia Jan, Parfum 3: Cardamome by Fabrice Pellegrin, Parfum 4: Cacao by Dorothée Piot, Parfum 5: Gimgembre by Richard Ibanez, Parfum 6: Bois by Amandine Marie, Parfum 7: Ambre by Dorothée Piot, Parfum 8: Rose by Dorothée Piot. Each fragrance is a variation on the oriental theme, and upcoming sets will explore other fragrance families. Available now at aedes, $145 for the set of 8 .8 oz Eau de Parfums. I am taking bets now on whether I will make it through the day without buying this.

Update: see reviews of Nelly Rodi Scent Factory 1-4 and 5-8.

Herrera Aqua cologne for men by Carolina HerreraCarolina Herrera's upcoming Aqua for men will be a "watery aromatic" with frosted bergamot, mandarin zest, fig leaves, neroli, lavender, rosemary, cardamom, vetiver, tonka beans, amber and musk. Herrera Aqua was developed by perfumer Carlos Benaim, and will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via escentual.co.uk, osmoz)

Zara for him should be available now at Zara stores and features bergamot, lemon, berry, nutmeg, cedar, amber, and musk. Thank you to Marlen for the scoop!

I know I'm an ignorant pickle, but do I *know* any of those knowses, I mean, noses? 'Course the Cardamome sounds yummy. Hell, they all sound yummy because there's not much to point otherwise. R, if you get this, I advise you keeping it under lock and key when you come to NYC. I've been known to pilfer.

Ooh, I like Caleche Eau Delicate! Wait, that's bad. I've got to save my $$$ for the l'Artisan's new LE.

It is a quandary. Actually though, I'm surprised at how reasonably priced this set is. Or have I just become jaded by perfume prices?

PEG, Fabrice Pellegrin did Caleche Eau Delicate, and there is a listing for Dorothee Piot in the noses page. I don't know the others, but that doesn't mean much, does it?

T, Begging you to report back!!! Can't make up my mind. Oriental is not really my favorite category.

Nelly Rodi Scent Factory looks positively fascinating, but I see too much mention of vanilla to risk buying unsniffed. A better plan would be to wait for *you* to succumb and then pester you about the here or there of the vanilla.

I love the new blog design! Very elegant and chi-chi. When did this happen? I've been a bit spaced out lately.

K, I have sworn to never buy unsniffed again (HA!) but may cave. Still deciding. I am wondering if these are limited edition & will try to find that out later today…

Thanks for the compliment, that is how I wasted my Sunday, LOL. One of these days I'll hire a “real” web designer.

Limited edition?! That's a good way to spark a stampede! On the other hand, I wonder if these might be released separately in larger sizes later on. I'm just not so keen on purchasing a set of eight scents of which I only like some, though I agree with you that the price is surprisingly low per ounce. Hopefully we don't have another avoirdupois fiasco afoot.

    Tania,

I also beg you to report! I am so tempted, especially since oriental is my favourite genre.

K, no need to stampede, I checked and these are NOT limited edition!
