It's Hump Day and National Fried Chicken Day. Birthdays: Frida Kahlo, Hilary Mantel. What fragrance are you wearing?
I've moved 4 steps from Chanel No. 5: Boy Chanel -> The Beat by Burberry Elixir Parfum (Dominique Ropion, Olivier Polge and Beatrice Piquet) -> Boucheron Miss Boucheron (Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion; I probably have some somewhere, but I am not going to wear it) -> L'Artisan La Chasse aux Papillons by Anne Flipo.
Reminder: on 7/8, for Kevin Bacon's birthday, we're doing a variation on six degrees of separation. In place of film, you can use perfumer and/or brand, and we're starting with Chanel No. 5. Can you get to the fragrance you want to wear without going more than six steps from Chanel No. 5? (example: Chanel No. 5 -> Chanel Paris Paris (by Olivier Polge) -> Burberry Brit Rhythm (by Olivier Polge, Dominique Ropion & Anne Flipo -> L'Artisan Ananas Fizz (by Anne Flipo) -> L'Artisan Timbuktu (by Bertrand Duchaufour) -> Aedes Copal Azur; that would be 5 degrees of separation.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning.
Sotd is Skylar’s Fall Cashmere. Toasted almonds, cinnamon, ginger; smells like a warm mug of chai with a biscotti. Its not summery at all but being indoors with the AC it’s comfy. (The scent does smell a bit like a candle but it’s fun enough for me to overlook that)
Work has been quite stressful this week and I need some good luck to meeting deadlines this Friday. 🥵
Sending some good luck your way!🍀
Good luck!
Hope it all goes swimmingly happy888cat!
Sending good luck wishes.
Lots of luck to you and a happy weekend to follow
🌈🍀🍀🍀!
Here’s hope for you to power through to the deadline. I get it about AC and Fall/Winter scents!
Yet another cool, rainy day. What a summer this is turning out to be.
I’m snug in the gorgeously warm, smooth Demeter Incense: no smoke, just lots of ambery resins.
We are hot and potentially rainy…
You smell fantastic!
Sounds like that Demeter is worth trying.
Good morning
I am wearing Chanel 1932 edt. Even though i love this fragrance, i have to apply several times a day , the lasting power is very weak.
I have a nice day planned for tomorrow, massage, hair cut, nice lunch etc. A day by myself .
Sounds like a wonderful day, enjoy!
Sounds perfect!
I love 1932 and fortunately it lasts on me. Such a pretty, sparkly perfume.
Days like that are precious. Enjoy!
This!
That sounds like a fabulous day. I hope you have a great time.
What an awesome day you have planned for tomorrow! Enjoy!
I’m wearing my favorite ELDO scent, Hermann A Mes Cotes…
House twins!
Santal Pao Rosa for travel day. It’s going to be a very long day, hoping the flight goes not too late (it is always delayed at least an hour). I feel sorry for my little dog, in the bag for 9 hours minimum.
Have a safe flight!
I hope your flight goes smoothly and not too long for your dog.
Hope your flight is not cancelled!🤞Safe travels!
Sending my very best travel vibes your way. Safe journeys!
Good luck!!!
Hope the trip will be smooth and your dog not upset.
I hope you are having an easy travel day!
Flight is already delayed 2 hrs. which is standard for this route unfortunately.
Boo, but there is still hope…
It norally goes out late but it goes.
Excellent choice for a stressful day. Safe travels!
I’m in Chanel no 5 L’ Eau.
I had insomnia so bad last night. Ugh. I guess that Chai in the late afternoon wasn’t such a good idea after all. I tossed and turned for what felt like hours. Was finally sleeping soundly when my alarm went off of course. I’m gonna need toothpicks to keep my eyes open by dinner time, lol.🥱
We were very close to being twins today.
Hopefully you will sleep well tonight.
Thanks lillyjo! Hopefully!
Hopefully you’ll get some good sleep tonight 🤞
Thanks ringthing, hopefully!
You smell great. I hope your day passes quickly and you fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow (and stay asleep all night).
Thanks! The day went pretty fast.👍
I was restless last night, too. Finally gave up and got up at 5:30 am, puttered around for an hour, then went back to bed and slept for an hour. It’s gonna be a looooong day. Tonight? We crash hard into our pillows! 🙂
For sure! I rarely have insomnia 2 nights in a row,
Yuck on the insomnia! Sending you vibes for plenty of Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz’s tonight.
Yeah, insomnia is the worst! Thanks Jalapeno!
It’s my day off, and I have many things to take care of. I also have a lack of motivation. So far I have managed to get dressed and spray my sotd. I am wearing Magnolia Charm body spray from BBW, with matching lotion. I doubt it smells like Magnolia but it is very perfumey. I smell like flowers.
Enjoy your day off, lillyjo.
Getting dressed is no small feat. I hope you have a nice day off!
Lack of Motivation twin! 🙌
Have a great day off, hope you get to do what you want, and a Good night’s sleep.
Yay for a day off! I hear you on the lack of motivation. My brother and I have various ways of describing it that are not NST-safe. Plenty of 4-letter words used there!
Is Magnolia Charm recent? I almost went to BBW today; too hot to work outside, so I was going to do a mall run this week. Our poor mall is trying…so sad since Macy’s left town…
It seems recent. I got it at the end of May. I noticed it got put in the semi annual sale, so maybe it was just for spring.
Continuing my Chanel week with Coco Mademoiselle Intense. I bought this during that little blip in 2020 between full quarantine and the Delta variant.
My poor kitty is napping in the closet today. Between the fireworks in our neighborhood and the thunderstorms, I think he’s a little stressed out.
We had a big boy cat who would slink into the closet at the first sound of thunder. They just need their safe place. And then hopefully come out and look for mom.
Aw!!
House twins
Poor kitteh!
You smell wonderful. Our Grandma cat was always one to go behind the sofa for storms and fireworks. Nowadays, she may be a little deaf, plus the allure of her heated bed kept her on the alert but in the open.
Ooh a heated bed, fancy! 😻
It’s supposed to hit 99 degrees here today so I chose ELDO’s You or Someone Like You. I think it is the only thing I own suitable for extreme heat.
I’m just getting back into a normal groove after a very eventful two weeks. My trip to Halifax and reunion was amazing, although we had to rent a car in Philadelphia and drive home because our flight cancellation/ delay situation just got too ludicrous. So, that week was mostly great.
However, while we were driving hime from Pennsylvania my husband got a call from his dad, who told him that he had just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. So the last few days have not been very happy or stress-free. I’m trying not to beat myself up about the retail therapy I indulged in or to get too far into catastrophic thinking, but it’s hard.
Sending hugs to everyone. You may not need them, but I need to give them.
Hugs back, that’s hard news.
Thanks pixel.
I’m so sorry about that news. Sending a hug.
Thank you.
Oh no, I’m so sorry sistine.
Do NOT feel bad about the retail therapy, enjoy life while you are alive, right? At the very least, do not waste time feeling guilty about what you cannot change.
Thanks. I don’t feel too bad. Just a bit sheepish for wanting a perfumed distraction from reality.
And Donatella will definitely forgive. Just have to pop over to the damage poll to confess…
Sending you hugs right back, sistine.
Thank you.
What Robin said. And hugs to you, sistine.
Thanks, ringthing.
I’m really glad you were able to see your family. I am sorry to hear about your FIL.
Hugs back to you.
Thank you lillyjo!
Oh no!
I am doing a trip to Halifax and worried about the flight
The flights in and out of Halifax were totally fine. It was the connections that were a mess.
I am very sorry about this. Sending you hugs and strength to cope with this difficult moment.
Thank you so much.
So sorry to hear about the diagnosis. My dad was diagnosed with the same in 2001, a perfectly horrible year all the way around. At times like this, there is no ceiling to the self care budget.
I’m sorry to hear that your family had to go through this too.
Perfume is a much better choice than booze, so I’m being healthy, right?
Totally!
Sorry to hear about your travel troubles and your father in law’s health diagnosis. The latter can come as such a brutal shock. Sending a big hug.
Thank you so much Kanuka.
Sistine, thank you for thinking of us and sending hugs, given what you’re going through. Hugs very gratefully and sincerely received and returned, will be thinking of you in the days ahead.
Thank you. I really appreciate it.
I’m sorry to hear about your father-in-law, sistine. Sending you some hugs back.
I hope you got a few nice things for yourself to enjoy. Sometimes we just need a distraction.
I did, and the distraction will be much needed. Thanks for the hugs.
So sorry about the news of your FIL, use retail therapy without feeling guilty.
Thank you Aurora.
I’ve always wondered – did you choose your name to honor the Northern Lights or the princess in Sleeping Beauty? Either way, it’s super cool.
You guessed right😃, it’s for the Northern Lights, on some other platforms I use Aurora Borealis and even Aurore Boréale in French, my mother tongue.
Sending big hugs your way, sistine. Very sorry to hear about your FIL’s diagnosis. The airports have been utterly insane this summer so far… I am amazed that you were able to rent a car in Philly.
Thank you Jalepeno.
I was also amazed to get a car in Philly. Especially after we’d booked three hotel rooms and arrived only to be told “we’re overbooked”. We spent the night in chairs at the Airport Marriott.
Tip – if you are stuck somewhere overnight, call hotels directly. Do not use a site like Expedia or any other third-party site (including the one the airline recommended – roomstorm. Phooey.). Inventory is not updated as rooms are booked.
Sistine, I am so grateful you had a wonderful experience prior to your very difficult news.
Not sure if this will help now, but you might want to look into The Nikki Mitchell Foundation. N/A. They do so much for pancreatic cancer, families, education, too much to blather here.
Big hugs to you.
Thanks for the good wishes and the recommendation! I will look into that foundation tomorrow morning.
Agree with calling hotel directly!! Sending a hug; a judicious round of retail therapy is not wrong.
Thank you MossyBerry.
Sending you great, big hugs, sistine…very sorry to hear that diagnosis.
And you absolutely should not feel bad about the retail therapy…having hobbies we love and enjoy is also a form of self care and perfume is a wonderful hobby.🤗
Thank you She-Ra. This is a nice hobby that makes the world smell better, so I’m goin g to enjoy those new bottles.
Glad you got home but so sorry about your FIL’s diagnosis.
Thank you hajusuuri.
Yesterday’s SOTD (post-shower post-yard work, anyway, we won’t discuss the SOTD before that) was Chanel Paris-Deauville, easily my favorite of the Eaux collection. Since it’s a Chanel I claim it’s one degree of separation from No 5.
Today’s scent is two degrees of separation from No 5: SOTD is Le Labo Aldehyde 44 which is quite similar to Chanel No 22 (purely a coincidence, I’m sure) which is of course an aldehydic sister to No 5.
I wonder if Aldehyde 44 sells? To anybody other than perfumistas? In fact would love to see a list of Le Labo scents ranked by sales.
I would doubt it sells much, it’s an odd one by current standards. Actually I find it even odder that it’s their ‘Dallas’ city exclusive, it doesn’t seem ‘Dallas’ to me.
It would be fun to know how well each of their scents sells. I assume Santal 33 is #1 by a mile, but as for the rest…?
Exactly. I am guessing Rose 3- is their 2nd best seller, only based on the ancillary launches. But after that, no idea. Maybe the whole ship is kept afloat by Santal at this point.
This is panning out to be my summer of many ELDO’s—today I’m in Antiheros, which I obtained from a very generous NSTer. Antiheros a summer perfume? you ask. Well . . . at 62 degrees and 80 percent humidity, it feels more of an Antiheros than a proper summer day. Flora and fauna are enjoying the damp respite even if I’m not. But how did I get to the is one? Hmmm (I checked out Fragrantica for some inspiration for my road from Chanel N0. 5— didn’t find much help but did enjoy the review that described this scent as being for a “banker with a foot fetish”!) Best I can do is via scent/house: Chanel No. 5> Chanel Boy> ELDO Antiheros
Banker with a foot fetish! Excellent.
Banker with a foot fetish is a bit much this early in the morning.
As the youth say “Rent free!”
Good morning ☀️
I am wearing Estée Lauder Beautiful Magnolia Intense snd drinking my second cup Ginger Peach tea.
How is this flanker ?
SOTD is Absolute Aphrodisiac, a vanilla/amber combo.
I’m thinking about getting one of those big, ungainly cat trees for the kittens, who are starting to need more variation in the way of play/exercise/lounging. I don’t know where I’ll put it, and it most definitely will be an eyesore, but this summer has been devoted to providing these five critters their best possible life, and that’s all to the good.
I have a big cat tree and my three kitties love it. They sharpen their claws, sleep in the cups, look out the window, and chase each other up and down. It’s in my front window, and the neighbors know me as “the house with the kitties who look out the window.” Of course, the cats have clawed the window curtains to bits, but I don’t care. They are all healthy and happy.
My curtains are in the same shape!
My curtains are okay, but the wooden window sills…not so much!
Have you seen those clear scoop shelf thingies that attach to your window via suction cups? They seem like a good way to keep kitties occupied watching the outdoor activities of birds, etc. When you’re done fostering, you can just remove them until you have another gaggle of fosters….😀
https://www.hgtv.com/lifestyle/family/pets/stylish-cat-furniture
Some of these look okay. Lucky cats!
gosh, so fun! now I really miss having kitties at home, even though after 21 years of litter boxes I’ve sworn off being owned by a cat. 😉
Awww, lucky kittens!
We have the most ludicrous cat tree. It looks like a tree, and is 7 feet tall. Not kidding. It weighs well over 200 pounds and took 4 men to get it into the house. In my defense, I didn’t buy this, it was given to me by a friend who was moving out of the area. And my cat (big athletic boy cat) loves it, he gets a running start, races all the way up the trunk, grabs the top overhang, and pulls himself up. Then stands up on top howling triumphantly.
Amazing!
Love this!
Have you checked out Meowingtons website for their cat trees? They have some interesting ones.
Not affiliated, just a happy customer of some of their other stuff.
I’m wearing Smell Bent today, an incense one, and I am too lazy to get up and look at the bottle for the name. I can’t get from Chanel to Smell Bent although I am sure it’s possible. Tomorrow is a travel day so I am doing all the things one does before a trip.
Where are you traveling to?
Might be Incensed, or Incensed Short Fuse, both of which are good — you smell marvelous!
Incensed is one of my favorites and I’m kicking myself for missing that sale. Hats off to those brave enough to travel via airplane these days! Don’t forget to pack you patience!
I bought two bottles of Incensed in the sale, even though I still had some left in my original bottle. There’s been some chatting here about doing a Smell Bent swap session — we should do it, and you could get in on the swap!
I hope you have a brilliant trip and can relax and have fun .
House twins today!
Ok this is really a stretch. I started with Robin’s Chanel No. 5 and yesterday I did one separation to Chanel Paris-Deuville. This is today’s and I realize it isn’t a good one. In 2018 Marc Jacobs went to his first Chanel show in Paris so today I wore Marc Jacobs Daisy. I know it is a stretch, but it’s something. I had to find something as I already had the Daisy on when I remembered the CP. LOL.
Works for me!
Works for me too!
Allure
Running errands
I’ve been looking for Allure Sensuelle thanks to your mention of it recently! Allure itself is lovely, just so lovely to wear. I used to save the magazine ads for it in my teens – now I save bottles of it instead! 😆
Let me know where you find some. I went to BG’s and they didn’t sell the sensuelle flanker
Allure is overlooked compared to other Chanel fragrances IMHO.
I have the body mist for Allure and that is what I am wearing today
I love Allure edp. I never would have tried it if I didn’t see the bottle at our main Antique Mall for…$8…look for perfumes anytime you see a booth of frou-frou lacey things…just sayin’.
I also want a bottle of the EdP at that price
Which bottles do you have?
Whoops, sorry this reply is so late! I have a little bottle of the hair mist, a present from my brother in our teens and my first ever Chanel (my mother dislikes No.5 as one of her colleagues lived in a cloud of it so that was never around our house!) but a few years ago I bought 50mls of Allure edt so I could wear it regularly rather than the rare spritz. And I have definitely seen Allure Sensuelle perfume at the main Chanel counter in my city, recently too as the SA put me in a cloud of that – I just need to look for it and try it again, but they haven’t been able to restock a lot of their counter for months.
I dismissed any degree of separation and went directly to The Source with Box of Eels. Take that, Kevin Bacon! 😀
Currently on the phone with my bank trying to find out why a $2500 payment never reached it’s intended recipient. No body knows. Took forever to get to a live person and then they couldn’t do anything except file a claim…My bank was taken over last year and I used to be able to call the branch directly and talk to a human. Not any more.
Consoling myself with a breakfast of Greek yogurt and berries! 😋
You Can’t Get There From Here — it’s the new normal.
Is it overly dramatic to say I’m over all this inefficient computer 💩? I mean, really, it’s like a coup d’état of humanity by computers. Pretty soon we won’t be able to use the toilet without a smart phone….So sick of it!
It’s not too overly dramatic. We were just discussing this exact topic. You can’t get a real person so you never know if anything is ever resolved. Plus there’s no accountability anymore.
How frustrating! I hope they get it sorted soon.
We were breakfast twins today!
No one better to twin with! 😀
I wonder what would happen if you called the fraud line instead 🤔? Just this morning, I wrote a semi-nasty email with the message of asking for a person who can work on a project instead of stringing someone along (not me), hiding behind an email box. Not good.
I’ve had to call the fraud hotline before when my van was broken into and everything stolen. It was a completely different company that focused on just fraud and lost/stolen cards. I think they have access to your account because she asked me about different purchases, but I think it’s limited to fraud related issues.
My suggestion is to call Fraud and say oops, can you warm transfer me to a CSR.
Maison Louis Marie 04 Bois de Balincourt
cheers to your legendary consistency! 😀
Ahahaha…if anything I am predictable…this happens every summer…I tend to stick with one bottle…
Amazed at your perfume fidelity streaks. Best I can do these days is maybe 2 weeks.
But they are rare…and seem to occur only in the summer. Two weeks is long 👍
I´m in Bee. Gorgeous. Srayed it on twice today. Thank you lovely soul out there who sent me a sample 😉
🐝🐝
You smell wonderful!
Currently in Lyric right now. Waiting on Prime day to arrive. I want to see if I can get my dad’s birthday gift for a little less.
Good luck!
I have never bought anything on Prime Day, but I loved the Jon Batiste commercial this year.
1. Chanel 5 for Gabrielle Coco Chanel
2. Coco refers to coconut, or coconut palm . Demeter Coconut
3.Demeter is the goddess of the harvest and brings hay to my mind. Mith, Haystacks at Sunset.
4. Mith perfumes hail from Thailand and so does film director Apichatpong Weerasethakul whose latest film Memoria starred Tilda Swinton. Eldo Like This
5. Tilda Swinton met her partner Sandro Kopp in NZ. He was a centaur extra in The lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe while she was the white witch. Adam Driver is also a centaur in the advert for Burberry Hero
6. A centaur is half man, half horse and NZs most famous racing horse was Phar Lap (1926-32). Phar Lap dies in mysterious circumstances in California and is believed to have been poisoned. I am wearing Hypnotic Poison.
I love it! I read with bated breath. . . where would it end? Demeter? Tilda Swinton? Adam Driver? The tragic murder of Phar Lap, of course. Hypnotic? Yes. Poison? Most experts agree.
Even stranger is that Phar Laps skin was taxidermied and is now in Melbourne museum and his huge 6 kg heart ( almost twice the size of a normal racehorse heart) is in a jar in the Australian National Museum.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phar_Lap
delightful! I did not know that Sandro and Tilda met on the movie set.
I find her endlessly fascinating, have enjoyed watching her ever since I first saw her in Orlando. Unforgettable. Now I want to watch Memoria, and also see Adam Driver as a centaur. 🙂
If it wasn’t so stinking hot I would wear Like This on Friday!
You made it so interesting.
Another 🏆
I’m with Oakland Fresca, I couldn’t wait to read what happens next!
Brava!
sotd = La Chase aux Papillons
So pretty, I am shamelessly cribbing from Robin today. 😉 Those perfumed degrees of separation make my head swim, such great fun! It’s cool and grey weather here, so La Chase makes a cheerful contrast.
My daughter’s bout of covid has brought quiet to our house. She is resting and feeling better today.
When school is out and I’m “on break” for the summer, I still keep myself habitually busy in many ways. But this week we’ve cancelled all our appointments and hunkered down. It’s oddly comforting to be homebound together and live slowly. I may even make a pot of soup today.
Enjoy the slow easy day. Not enough of those these days.
I hope you enjoy the quiet moments and that your daughter recovers quickly.
I am glad your daughter is feeling better.
You smell marvellous and best wishes for recovery to your daughter.
We did that in May, and agree there was something relaxing about it. Do not want to do it again though!
So glad she is feeling better, hope that continues.
Glad to hear that your daughter is feeling better. Hope that she doesn’t have any long term effects.
Time slows down and it’s a good thing. I’m glad your daughter is feeling better.
Hello perfume friends. Reading the comments with a full heart today. Wearing Prada Infusion d’Oeillet and sending you all good wishes for peace and comfort. I forgot I even had a bottle of this until I got chatty with Donatella. I had wanted more carnation perfume for so long but never saw this particular Infusion in my local department stores, then finally it popped up on offer so I swooped. Also carnation-related: yesterday I read a short essay by Italo Calvino in which he described the end of his time spent fighting against fascism in the Second World War, around his home in San Remo in Italy. He and his friends didn’t know their area was at peace until they saw two old men walking along nearby and wearing red carnations. Then they saw hundreds of people out and about, free and at peace and wearing carnations. So I would also like to send out carnations to you all today, with hopes for peace.
Love the story of the peace carnations. It’s one of my favorite notes too, do you know Floris Malmaison?
No, I have seen but never tried any Floris perfumes. Thank you for this recommendation Aurora!
What a beautiful thought.
It’s a very sober essay but very good to read. It’s called “Where I was on 25th April 1945”.
How lovely, I never heard that! Thanks DolceVita.
❤️
Once when I was in Montreal people were giving away red carnations and I came to find out it’s for remembrance.
I didn’t know about the red carnations & remembrance, either. The only flowers I ever heard of were the red poppies for Memorial Day here in the US. And those are usually artificial ones made out of paper.
Same here.
Spent another day in an Aqua Allegoria, Anisia Bella because Robin wore it quite recently. Tonight it’s Chanel Cuir de Russie edp.
Ah, I like that progression too! You smell great.
I took my Serge bottles out from their cupboard and selected a few that I thought might work in summer heat. Incidentally , they were also the lighter colored ones. For today Im wearing Datura Noir. My bottle has gone a bit syrupy and I worried when I sprayed it on, but it’s divine right now—richly decorated hypnotic. I’m not doing the CP, Im just not very clear headed these days.
Sending hugs.
I always find the version of Datura Noir that I have to be very wearable.
I jumped aboard the Sloppy Joes train this afternoon. I used ground turkey in this batch, and it came out just fine. That, plus an ice cold IPA from the fridge made for a yummy meal. 😋
Spooky kitty had another barfing episode today. I’m thinking that she is either getting fed too much wet food at lunch, or the probiotic supplement she takes is bothering her. I will skip the probiotic tomorrow and see what happens.
SOTD = Smell Bent Bollywood or Bust. This was a blind buy and happened due to the “Closing Up Shop” sale that they had. I’m getting mostly woody notes with it, and not really any rose.
Glad your Slippy Joes turned out fine! So sorry about barfy Spooky; the supplement elimination makes sense though and I hope that’s the root cause.
With the Smell Bent closing up shop sale, I wonder if the perfume was in whatever date they were in without completing maceration? So far I liked Scorch and Sticky. I haven’t tried S-E-X and St. Tropez Dispenser as yet but will soon!
Spooky has been using the supplement for months now, usually without issues. Not sure WTH is going on. I will also reduce the size of her lunch.
So far the St. Tropez Dispenser Gold has been my favorite Smell Bent. I’m also digging Incensed, but no way, no how is that a hot weather perfume!
Just answered my q.
😁
Also, diggin Sticky and Incensed.
Poor Spooky!
Crossing fingers it is the supplement. Has Spooky been on it long?
I should get over to tell Donatella exactly how crazy I was with SmellBent.
See above for further deets on Spooky.
Awww, I hope that Spooky’s issue is resolved soon.
Just had a beer myself after my afternoon!
Spooky has IBS, or something similar to it. Unfortunately, not an easy condition to manage.
I hope you can find the culprit for Spooky.
I know you have air conditioning but could the humidity make an impact?
I will see what tomorrow brings, with a smaller lunch and no supplement. She seems to be keeping her dinner down just fine.
SOTD = Shalimar MVP
So this is 3 degrees of separation from Chanel No.5 working backwards. Monday was Smell Bent Sticky and a search (not Fragrantica because not there for whatever reason) revealed “resins” as one of the notes. Yesterday’s SOTD was Diptyque Volutes EDT which lists benzoin, opoponax, myrrh and styrax, collectively resins; it’s also powdery. Shalimar MVP is powdery. What will I wear tomorrow? 🤔
Olympics Orchids has a July monthlong sale of everything with code TWELVE20. This could be a repeat from someone else but it doesn’t hurt to repeat.
A few asked about what I ordered to spend $13-$14 at Starbucks. For a mere 150 stars (same as for getting a sandwich, for example), I got: Venti Java Chip Frappuchinno, no frap roast but instead 6 shots of espresso (2 regular 4 decaf), skim milk, extra chips and whipped cream. It was 😋. No software glitch this time around 😉.
Shalimar MVP isn’t too much in today’s soupy weather?
I was WFH so it was perfectly fine.
Things got uncomfortably muggy for me this afternoon indoors. Maybe not the best day to fire up the stove. But the end results were worth it.
Your coffee sounds delicious!
It was but I can only indulge every so often…
Thank you for the Olympic Orchids tip! Do you have particular favorites? I have bottles of Golden Cattleya and Osafume that I was able to get at my favorite perfume shop’s “garage sale” but otherwise I’m new to this house.
Wearing impossible Iris courtesy of a wonderful NST’er. I think I may need something stronger now!
It’s been a day today. Technically it’s our recycling/garbage day. I saw online awhile back on our local page that we could recycle glass again, so of course I threw a few jars in for this week. My hubby added a few bottles too. We heard the truck roll up, and then the crashing of the glass all over the road!
We went out to see the aftermath and cleaned everything up, but then noticed the recycling bin was also gone. I called the district, and was told glass was NOT accepted in the recycling, so I’m confused! Asked if our bin was taken away because of the glass, and was told probably not; sometimes they get stuck in the tracks of the truck. I’m not so sure! However the girl graciously said she can send us a new bin. I hope so.
Sometimes it seems that recycling is a bigger pain than just throwing stuff out. Not how things should be, IMO.
Seriously! My hubby laughs at me ‘for washing the garbage’; aka yogurt containers and tin cans before it went into the blue bin.
The recycling guidelines for my county say that jars and plastic need to be rinsed out before going into the bin. Unfortunately, not everyone here does it. So there are times where the recycling smells as bad as the garbage. 🤢
So… They don’t take glass and decided to smash it all over the road and steal your bin? The driver must be a toddler.
No, I think the glass just fell out somehow when they dumped it. It was probably top heavy with the glass when the lid flipped open and it flew onto the road. It’s an automatic truck that picks up your bin by the driver; there isn’t any manual work done by them.
But we were surprised about the bin being taken! And I bookmarked the web page stating that glass is being accepted again for future reference.. I’m sure I may need it!
This is so frustrating. Where can you recycle glass? I am a bad recyclables custodian. I used to be better but if I have to wait until a recyclables bag filled up, i may be sitting on the bag for 5 or 6 weeks (or longer). Like jalapeno said, we also have to rinse the containers.
Glass sure is a pain. Storing it is ridiculous, exactly as you say! I guess there is a place we can take it but that’s so inconvenient. No wonder people throw it out.
I don’t mind the rinsing of plastic or cans. My hubby just throws it all out instead. Drives me a bit nuts!
