Hermes Kelly Caleche, Kenzo Amour in new Parfum concentrations

Posted by Robin on 16 September 2008 31 Comments

Extrait Kelly CalecheThis month, Hermès will launch a new extrait version of last year's Kelly Calèche fragrance for women.

Perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena has reportedly tweaked the floral leather Kelly Calèche scent to make it "more sensual".

The packaging features a refillable steel bottle shaped like an Hermès lock; the 7.5 ml Parfum goes for 140€; refills are 76€. (via aufeminin, joyce.fr)

Other recent launches from Hermès: Un Jardin Apres La Mousson.

Kenzo Amour Le ParfumComing next month from Kenzo, 2006's Kenzo Amour, also in a new extrait version.

Kenzo Amour Le Parfum was inspired by the gold of the Orient, and has been given a woodier character with amber, incense, benzoin and patchouli. The perfumer is Daphne Bugey.

Kenzo Amour Le Parfum will be in 30 or 50 ml Parfum, in a gold finish bottle. (via aufeminin, femmeactuelle.fr)

Other recent launches from Kenzo: KenzoAmour Indian Holi, Peace by Kenzo Vintage Edition, FlowerbyKenzo Summer 2008, 7:15 am in Bali, Kenzo Power, L'Eau Par Kenzo Ice, Les Eaux de Fleur Collection, Winter Flowers.

I love the little “lock” bottle from Hermes! I could just buy it for the bottle!

I don't know why that one isn't doing anything for me. It looks too much like the lock I use at the gym, maybe? But I'd love to smell the extrait.

I already have aheadache in anticipation. As it is Kelly Calèche gives me one each time I wear it with what seems to me a sharpish leather note, I wonder what would the parfum do to me. But maybe more sensual means the cuir's been rounded off a little? Does leather count for sensual , or the reverse?

I hope that “sensual” means more of everything, including the leather!! Whoo-hoo! Agree with you, Rob, about the gym lock.

don't know – I actually find it slightly tacky, that Hermes bottle.

Suppose more can be done less sharp, uh? What's soo sexy about the smell of my new rubber door-matt, which smells so very like KC ( well, but for the floweyi bit, of course)

I like the idea of a more sensual, extrait version of Kelly Caleche. The notes of the original sounded so wonderful to me, but the actual juice came off as tinny, sharp, and thin on my skin.
I'm not too keen on the lock “bottle,” however.
But I do like the gold Kenzo Amour bottle!

Fougerefiend, I'll take more leather! But who knows what they did with it…

It is probably one I'd have to see in person? But not loving it in the picture.

I think the Amour bottle is going to win here today. I like both scents, hope I get to try them…

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. I am simply consumed with lust at both of these new extraits. I adore both scents already and have full bottles of them – and speaking of bottles, I love that lock. It appeals to the Bulgari Black-wearing side of me. I shall have to start saving immediately. Either that or up my rates as a dominatrix… :)

    Robin ,

(BTW in real life my name is Anna, but I'm so delighted with my Fougèrefiend second life that I tend to forego introductions: hope you don't mind)

: you'll know soon enough what they did, I trust, and then you'll tell us. ;-). But seriously, is leather considered a sexy note, or not?

Hmmm…would love to try this version of Kelly Caleche and I hope that the leather will be present much stronger.

I am not sure about the bottle, but since it is a product by Hermes, this bottle will really nice and very well made.

Maybe it has the right size to attach to a necklace, a necklace with big chains?

Hey, you summed up my feelings about Kelle Caleche EXACTLY! Thank you for that – I wanted so much to like it, but was disappointed.

And I love Kenzo Amour, so I'm going to have to get this extrait. I so wish I had more Kenzo available to me!

Interesting that he has “tweaked” the original formulation. Perhaps the suits at Hermes have been disappointed with sales and wanted J-CE to do something?

I like the concept of the lock bottle, but not the execution. I agree with you, darling, that one has to see it first before deciding if it works or not.

    Hugs!

I wonder if the parfum concentrations are going to be a trend – give the perfume consumer more olfactory bang for the buck during uncertain economic times?
That said, between these two and the Shiseido Zen finally being available in the US, my wallet's getting its own economic jitters….

    dropping by late to say
    squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
I think the Kenzo Amour sounds fabulous! And I too like the bottle. BTW I saw such great variations over the last week… I love the teeny finger-length ones at Sephora, and they have a bottle of Flower that's probably 12″ tall. Very playful.

Yeah, that Kenzo bottle is the bomb, and the extrait sounds yummy, but I'd prefer the solid-color ones to the gold, they are so modern-looking. However, they are both gorgeous. Not sold on the “lock” at all, though points for originality I guess. The Kelly Caleche gave me a migraine although I liked it at first. It IS very very tart.

I was for the longest time contemplating on buying a bottle of Amour. Good job I haven't – perhaps this is the one I should buy!

Wordbird, Glad someone loves the lock! And hope it is going to be easy to find it in the US — I can't afford it but hope I can at least try it.

Ah, but I may not know any sooner than anyone else! Hermes is not likely to send me a sample :-)

Yes, leather is generally considered sexy.

R, I was thinking more that if they didn't tweak it, they'd have a hard time getting anyone to buy another version. I really don't know how well KC did, but this doesn't seem a likely way to address poor sales given that it's priced for an entirely different market.

I found the Kenzo Amour in the gold bottle in Lübeck, Germany. The bottle was nice and the fragrance was really nice. I have the original Amour (pink bottle), and while this is very much like the original, it is not as sweet. Yet it does still have that comforting smell. Develops very nicely. It was 54 Euro for 30 ml. That is not a scary price at all. I think I will get a bottle today.
