Did I read the word “vetiver,” dear R?

I know you will be all over that one! Can you imagine how much more excited you would be if iris was in this, too? :):)

And speaking of which: Are there any vetiver-iris fragrances on the market? I can't think of any.

    Hugs!

R, so far I have not been “all over it”, LOL…in fact, am announcing it about a month late. Marina says it's good but so far, haven't read anything *astounding* about it, and you know, I'm less & less willing to jump through hoops to get obscure fragrance samples — there's so much product these days, so why bother? It isn't like I'm at a loss to find something new to smell 😉

But vetiver/iris: TDC Sel de Vetiver & L'Artisan Dzongkha!

Hugs to you, hope all is well!

TDC Sel de Vetiver…that's it! I have that one. Celine creates such beautiful fragrances. I love the saltiness of this one.

Violetnoir, Bois d'Ombrie from Eau d'Italie has a good whack of iris and vetiver, although there are other notes giving it some sweet, slightly smokey woodiness. I think it's divine! Here's the whole works: iris, vetiver, dark woods, leather, balsam, cognac, myrrh and tobacco.

Do you find the iris very obvious in Sel de Vetiver? Can't say that it was to me, even though I enjoyed it enough to want a larger decant or even a FB someday. I'll need to pull out my sample again. I must say I wouldn't mind a VERY woody iris — I have TDC Bois d'Iris, but that's still not as woody as I'd hoped; I may need to try layering. Back on topic, Sycomore might be interesting if it dropped into my lap, but I probably won't be jumping through hoops to get my hands on it either.

No, Dzongkha was probably a better example, you're right.

Maybe Sycomore will rain from the skies for both of us, LOL…

7:15 in bali is such an original name. but then i read fruity floral, delicate and sweet and i almost lost interest. who knows, it might be nice. luckily kenzo is pretty easy to get ahold of.

Wow, can someone please explain to me why every perfume released this/last year has pink pepper in it? Why/how do fragrance notes become fashionable? Is it because of marketing or because of R+D? The amount of pink pepper on the market is getting ridiculous! As if pink pepper was in the original Sycomore.

An obscure Italian niche brand (Memento) is doing the same “X O'Clock in Location Y” theme this year — but don't know who thought of it first!

well I certainly do LOL! I just discovered Dzongka and LOVE IT! I tried to like Dzing, thinking “I think I'm supposed to like it” but no-go. But Dzongka is just lovely!

The pepper in Poivre Samarcande is different from all this pink pepper, right? I'm getting a much spicier zing from that…love it, too!

    So glad you love Dzongkha!

I think Poivre Samarcande smells like real pepper…pink pepper is a more muted taste/smell.

I am in love with the whole Kenzo design and all their fragranes. I normally do not enjoy “green” or “fresh” fragrances at all as I find them uninteresting. I was getting tired of all vanilla and sandalwood notes floating all around me, especially in the place where I live – Florida… I was looking for a nice, summery scent, and a friend of mine suggested: Celine Dion Spring in Paris and Calvin klein Eternity. Phew, I hate both of them and all of the other simular fragrances out there! Waste of time, waste of money, waste of everything to smell like a toilette refreshner. Horrible, boring, annoying, uninteresting… seems that the only summery, or light fragrances are made by KENZO.Parfum D'ete smells like a REAL, dewy leaf. Summer by Kenzo (no, not by Calvin Klein…) smells like a beautiful, sunny day and a bowl of yummi almonds… also very real and awesome. Kenzo rocks, I've gotta smell that Bali stuff, I'm sure I'm gonna love it! Two thumbs up!

I like Kenzo too. I'm hoping the Bali will end up in “regular” retail eventually, as so many duty-free scents do.
