It's Tuesday and National Graham Cracker Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I've moved 2 steps from Chanel No. 5: yesterday was Boy Chanel, today is The Beat by Burberry Elixir Parfum. Tea at the moment is Upton Dikom Estate Assam + Numi Chinese Breakfast + cacao nibs + sprinkle of nutmeg.
Reminder: on 7/8, for Kevin Bacon's birthday, we're doing a variation on six degrees of separation. In place of film, you can use perfumer and/or brand, and we're starting with Chanel No. 5. Can you get to the fragrance you want to wear without going more than six steps from Chanel No. 5? (example: Chanel No. 5 -> Chanel Paris Paris (by Olivier Polge) -> Burberry Brit Rhythm (by Olivier Polge, Dominique Ropion & Anne Flipo -> L'Artisan Ananas Fizz (by Anne Flipo) -> L'Artisan Timbuktu (by Bertrand Duchaufour) -> Aedes Copal Azur; that would be 5 degrees of separation.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Bernardaud Roseraie Teapot ("Flowers have consistently been the motif of choice of painters and Roseraie experiments with romantic arrangements, exuberant intertwined branches, and golden accents to illuminate the design and emphasize the delicate hues of the flowers. [...] Original pieces from this sumptuous collection may be found at the Montmartre Museum in Paris. Handmade in France") is $955 at Scully & Scully.
I’m in Neroli Outrenoir for this back to work Tuesday. It’ll be a 3 day week for me though, so it should go fast.
Holy humidity! It felt soupy when I steeped out of the house this morning.
Stay cool, everyone!🌞
You smell great!
Thanks!😀
3 days is perfect! We’re humid too, but can’t complain after a perfect day yesterday.
3 days is perfect, if only it was every week!
🙂
The CP seems like too much work for me to think about after a long weekend. I know this morning I don’t want to be separated by any degree from my coffee machine or french press
☕️ so that is my SipOTD
Will report back with my SOTD after I am fully functioning on caffeine
I hear you about Too Much Thinking – if I do the CP on Friday it will likely one degree, i.e. a Chanel.
Me too! I will probably do a Chanel. I am just so tired this morning 😓
SOTD Sous le Vent by Guerlain
Ooooh, wonderful, and very refreshing, too!!
Why did the get rid of this one ?
Hope the coffee keeps flowing!
Just clarifying…the project was not meant to imply you had to wear every step…you can start with step 6! Only meant to list them.
But if even that is too much work, I get it 🙂
I will try for Friday. I love the CP’s and want to make an effort because it forces me to use different perfumes. I was just so tired 🥱
Tired is more important…nothing is more important than sleep.
I found Ginger Piccante when looking for something else, so that is what I’m wearing. Lovely on a hot, humid day.

Going through my minis for no reason and today I’m in Fendi Theorema. I could kick myself for not having bought a full bottle: I can still see the box on the shelf at the perfumery near where I lived all those years ago, and it was *right there* and I didn’t even know how great it was until far too late. I regret the things I *didn’t* buy so much more than any misguided purchase I ever did make.
But at least I’m in Theorema!
Am still mad at myself for not buying Penhaligon Lily & Spice in Toronto over a decade ago.
Are you still in Canada? I’d be happy to send you a Lily & Spice decant *if* the USPS will let me *and* there’s some chance it would actually get to you! 🙂 I lucked into a bottle in an Ebay lot; smells very lily and cloves and is a fun scent. If interested, contact me at kclberry in the old school world of nets cape dotty net.
Too kind! Will attempt to email you, although for some reason when I write people my message often ends up in spamland.
Yep, you smell great!
Had the opportunity this weekend to smell some of the repackaged Guerlain classics in the Légendaires bottles and finally found a version of Mitsouko and L’Heure Bleue that I could actually enjoy. They are the edp formulas. I also got to try Jicky extrait, Oeillet Pourpre and Épices Éxquises. I believe Oeillet Pourpre is supposed to be the repackaged & reformulated version of Lui. I much prefer Lui, Oeillet Pourpre smells like the watered-down summer version of it with a lot less spice. So today I am wearing my new Mitsouko edp.
You smell great. I love Mitsouko
Oh, sounds like a lot of fun!
House twins
I did not like Oeillet Pourpre
Sounds like a fun sniff-fest! Glad it resulted in some new loves.
Sounds like fun. I never got into those two before, maybe the latest will dent the purse.😁
Good to hear that the new Mitsouko EdP is worthy.
I don’t know if I’m up for six degrees of separation. My brain capacity is quite limited these days. I’m lucky if I can remember people who are only a single degree of separation, for less six.
I’m about to spritz some Fils de Dieu for a pick me up after a not so bad shift. I had a patient pass away right at 730 am as I was giving report (Mo paperwork for me!👍🏼). Not unexpected and probably a great relief to the patient, so I’m not sad about it, although I hate to see people die in hospitals in general.
I’m off for the next four and may venture out a bit. Have been sticking in town for a variety of reasons, but feeling the need to head out and explore a bit.
There is currently a crow tip-tapping on the van roof and driving T-Rex crazy! I think she has wing envy because she hates birds with a passion…
Apparently this is not a project many people are feeling up to…no worries!
Glad the shift was not to bad, and glad the patient was ready to go when they did? I guess?
Well, I can only imagine if I were 93, cachectic, had bed sores and in constant pain and surrounded by family who are not abiding by my wishes I would be grateful to move along, but that’s just me. 🤷🏻♀️
That would be me too.
I don’t even know what cachectic means but it does not sound happy and I’d rather not google…I imagine I’d be happy to move along too.
My father passed away around 7:15 a.m., in a hospital. Knowing my father, he would have done his best to hang in there to save anyone time.
Sorry your paperwork and shift got all screwed up. A shame the hospital doesn’t hire others to fulfill your nursing obligatory paperwork. I’m guessing it must be a lot. Time is much better spent with the patient. I was so fortunate the social worker was such an angel to stay with me after my father passed.
My shift didn’t get screwed up and I didn’t have paperwork, so there was no issue. Who would the hospital hire? Nurses deal with death every day. It’s one of the many less pleasant aspects of the job, made more difficult by family who refuse to understand and accept death naturally follows life. People are entitled to good, peaceful, and dignified deaths, but this rarely happens in a hospital setting because family is often the driver for continued painful interventions, tests, and procedures that will make NO difference in patient outcome. I’m sorry you didn’t have family to be with you when your father passed.
I misunderstood your shift being screwed up because of paperwork. I don’t have the answers who should be hired, just know nurses who get bogged down in paperwork.
My father had complete control over his decisions. I made certain.
I cherish that moment with my father.
Am in appropriate-for-Tuesday Bulgari blue tea, although admittedly I have never tried drinking a blue tea.
You smell great! IIRC, blue tea just refers to oolong.
Well, I learned something new today!
I did not know that either!
So just verified…blue tea (really, Te Bleu) was the French term for oolong, and I have no idea why. And oolong is just a semi fermented tea (between green and black in terms of oxidation).
Here’s a blue tea for ya!

No affiliation. I just remember seeing this in one of my endless searches. 😁
I have a blue blueberry lavender tea that is delicious. Made by Republic of Tea.
Hello all!
I’m in newish Calandre today. Probably a decade or so old but still a lovely green floral with a soapy warm drydown. I’d pick this one over that Cristalle flanker, though not over Cristalle EdT.
Had a very low-key weekend with friends, and ended up making a strawberry rhubarb pie. Pretty good considering I didn’t use a recipe, which is my toxic trait.
Have a great day all!
Cristalle EdT is its own little miracle. But you do still smell great 🙂
Mmm, strawberry rhubarb pie is my favorite!
I love the picture of that tea set, Robin, because the entire scene is so enticing!
I thought other readers here might find this article of interest: https://www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/beauty/fragrance/a40474766/francis-kurkdjian-interview/.
Can’t wait for his new scents for Dior to appear!
I’m in Raw Gold today, which is still the best thing I’ve found for a long, long, time. If I come into some money (and get over paying vet bills), I’ll buy a bottle.
Yes — sorry for another spendy teapot but did like that picture!
Thanks for the article. All my family are home isolating as my son has Covid and it is impossible to follow Stranger with someone else in the house. I tried, honestly, but got so confused!
I hope your family doesn’t get too sick and your son has a quick and full recovery.
2nd that!!
That article was great
Does it count that I dreamed about someone offering me some Ananas Fritz? 😅 I’m in Hindu Kush for the moment, and maybe for the whole day — it’s hitting the spot rather nicely.
Anything counts 🙂
To be clear, it actually was “Fritz” in my dream. I thought (while dreaming) that something was off, but I still thought it was the perfume being offered. Maybe it was a dessert instead — like Bananas Foster.
Ananas was an answer on Jeopardy not too long ago. Sadly, I forgot it. 😳
I’ve always considered myself more of a Guerlain gal, but I recently noticed I’m drawn to a number of Chanel scents, except No. 5, which doesn’t work on me. So, I’ll take the easy route of one degree of separation being same house and wear Gabrielle Essence.
Humid here, but it’s only low 70s, so is fine. Serious storms blasted through yesterday, thankfully pretty much after most town festivities were done. No lightning or wind or anything, just very heavy rain.
Was thinking I might need to escape the house because my husband is working on some materials for a small class he’s leading. He and word processing programs are a toxic mix. There’s always a lot of drama and loud yelps of frustration. But…he’s going to golf later, so peace will reign.
Good, hope he got it all finished and you got some afternoon “golf widow” peace.
I have been enjoying some Berdoues Assam of India today 🙂
Always perfect!
I am wearing one of the samples I got yesterday, Nishane Ani. I love it so much.
I think i have to save for a bottle.
Just an fyi.. Fragrancebuy CA has a pretty good deal on it. As well as Fragrance net.
Enabler. 🤣
I got my eye on a few Muglers.
Really, thank you .
Ani is so good — you smell gorgeous.
It smelled great on you. 🙂
I am going with Robin’s Chanel 5 separation from yesterday and using just one separation by wearing Chanel Paris-Deuville. Perfect for another hot and humid day in the Midwest. Unfortunately, we are expecting storms tonight. They say damaging winds, but I hope not as we lost a few people this summer already due to strong winds.
Stay safe Kris!
Fingers crossed that your storms aren’t severe ones. 🤞🤞🤞
We got heavy storms this afternoon but no damage…hope it was the same for you.
I’m mulling over a few scents for a CP win, but I have to totally cheat with Fragrantica to even have a chance. SotD Penhaligan’s Lily & Spice because AnnieA mentioned it. Steamy hot here; but I did get some outside work done. Hope everyone has an easy landing for the post-holiday Tuesday!
How well does it work in the heat?
The lily flared out so good thing I like lily. But it’s behaving quite well overall…hmm…getting more musk than I remembered, though I’ve not worn it much or recently.
The lily blossomed out just like the real ones do in the heat so good thing I like lily. But it’s behaving quite well overall…hmm…getting more musk than I remembered, though I’ve not worn it much or recently.
Sampling Ashes from Clandestine Labs. It is a nice citrus and grass scent so far but doesn’t particularly move me. Went to an art show this weekend and bought a print. Now that I have more wall space, I’m clearly going to need to increase my art budget
Oh fun!!
I cannot remember who posted recently about lining up seven different bottles for the week (I’m sorry! my brain is a sieve!), but I realized later that I have precisely seven bottles on my “current rotation” dresser tray, so am working through those. (Oh, and two of the seven are Chanels, so in the most literal sense, everything I wear this week will earn CP points). Yesterday was Calyx; today, Stella.
that was me 🙂
and I love Calyx…wore it every summer from 86 tp 95 and thunked loads of bottles
Calyx=😍
My bottle of Calyx is patiently waiting for its turn.
1.Chanel 5
2. Charles Demuth painted “I Saw the Figure 5 in Gold” in response to a William Carlos Williams poem. The painting is in the Met collection on 5th Ave (Elizabeth Arden, 5th Ave)
3. Elizabeth Arden occupied the Aoelian Building on 5th Ave. Among the many architectural features of the building is a copper lantern roof (CDG, Copper)
4. Comme des Garçons name was inspired by the lyrics of a song written by Francois Hardy. As well as being a famous singer, Hardy was also an astrologer and Leo is a zodiac sign (Chanel, Le Lion)
5. Bob Dylan was inspired by Hardy and wrote Just Like a Woman for her. We do not know if he inspired the perfume Dylan Blue (Versace)
6. Blue glass is beautiful and I am wearing Tauer Soto La Luna Tuberose today

You win!
Amazing
I could tell when I read your post yesterday that you were going to be good at this cp!😀
Daaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg!
WOW!
You are brilliant!
🏆 plus💐 for the Bob Dylan mention
You win CPs for all eternity!
Testing Pacific Moss again and I really like it. I’m into summer fragrances, aquatics in particular, right now. This is nice. I tested some others last week, Kerosene Walk the Sea and Blocki Walks and found Walk the Sea interesting after a long time. Same as another Kerosene.
I will be wearing Cristalle later, by Jacques Polgue. Is that one degree of separation?
Need to organize, but do not even know where to start!
Happy Tuesday!
I’m not a huge fan of aquatics but I do like Hermès Eau des Merveilles Bleue. Have you tried that one?
Thank you! I have not tried that one yet.
I go in big waves with perfumes (pun intended) and I really can’t find one right now. Not that I need another bottle.
It’s a good one!
Not enabling 😉
😆 You and hajusuuri must have matching sashes.
I’d call EdM Bleue an aquatic perfume for people who don’t necessarily like aquatic perfumes.
Yes! Well said.👍😀
Now, that’s interesting!
Chanel Chance Eau Tendre
Nice for this weather!
I’m wearing Twilly today. It has bergamot and jasmine notes in common with No. 5. That’s all the thinking I can do right now. I’m emptying my brain of all the recent horrible things in the news and watching The Mandalorian. While eating cookies.
Such horrible things. My heart breaks for Chicago.😢
The news is what kept me up most of the night. I ate ice cream at 3am.
That’s what I would do.
Stupid news. 🤬💀
I have gotten really expert at emptying my brain…I have to put new bits in every morning or I can’t think what to do next.
I went beachy (but I think elegant) with Aqua Allegoria Lys Soleïa and continued with floral tonight with Olène.
I much prefer elegant beachy to coconut beachy.
I feel the same, coconut is used way too much in this type of scents, I do like coconut with citrus though.
So many of the earlier Guerlain AA’s were something special.
Oh yes, there are real gems, Lys Soleïa was so popular it should have made it to the AA permanent collection.
One degree with Chanel Allure edt. I might just do a Chanel week and call it good.
Hot and sticky here after great thunderstorms overnight. Great because there was lightning and thunder and heavy rain but no severe weather. I like the cozy feeling of being awakened by rumbling thunder.
I agree as long as it’s not severe, storms can be cozy. I might see another one tonight.
Wearing Lush’s Kerbside Violet.
Pretty one, Gail.
Thank you! It’s good in the heat we are having.
Looks like that one is back in EdP at the LUSH near me.
Just checked the Lush website. It sure seems to be crazy money now! I have a 10 ml from the early days of it.
I do too, it’s a cute little bottle!
Yet another reason I’m grateful for NST – a violet CP a couple of years ago – I would never have known to track this down before the price went sky high.
Giving Rogue’s Rostracto another go today, but I’m having the same reaction as las time — the wood and resin are dominating the potpourri-ish rose note and I wish it was the other way around. I’m making a note to revisit it in cold weather to see if changes my impression.
Tea today has been a giant mug of clipper ship’s burnt sugar while I hide in my office. I have a short trip with a friend planned for this weekend and I refuse have it get derailed by COVID. So I shall hide in my office on the days I am here. 😀
Good luck with your plans! Hoping that the small get-togethers I have planned with friends later on this month don’t make anyone sick.
The numbers for PA look reasonably decent but I know so many people with covid right now. Ack.
Maison Louis Marie 04 Bois de Balancourt
Edp or oil? I like that one, it gets a lot of comparison to Le Labo Santal 33.
It smells like that to me.
Me too. I’ve done a side by side and they are so similar I don’t think I could tell them apart if I did a blindfold test.
Maison Louis Marie 04 Bois de Balancourt
Love that name! 😀 How do you like it?
sotd = Tauer amber flash
in honor of all the firewords flashing last night, and those amber waves of grain. 😉
I love graham crackers, so glad there is a day dedicated to their deliciousness. Nom nom nom, here I go!
Have a delightful day, dear NSTers.
oh my goodness, firewords sound more fun than fireworks 😀
and a big thank you for yesterday’s well wishes for my daughter, her covid symptoms seem less today.
That’s fantastic news! Tomorrow, even a better day!
Firewords sound more interesting.
Firewords are something used in flame wars?? Hehehe.
Thank goodness for graham crackers… cheesecake wouldn’t be nearly as tasty without them!
Not to mention s’mores!
Popping by belatedly to say that the CP is beyond me at the moment, but I might take an easy option later with 31 Rue Cambon.
Covid continues, I don’t have any really nasty symptoms, but I’m generally tired and headachy.
I did go a bit wild with Luckyscent’s discount, I’ll blame that on being tired of Covid 🙂
Glad your symptoms aren’t nasty! And hope you recover quickly!
Hope your symptoms ease up soon. Interested in knowing what everyone got from luckyscent!
ha! good for you, retail therapy can help body and mind. 🙂
Sending you “Get well soon” vibes!
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
So glad you don’t have any nasty symptoms!
Take it easy…my sister overdid it, I think, and is now quite tired weeks later.
Listening to Spooky complaining about something. She’s being rather mouthy right now. 😾
Enjoying 4th of July leftovers today. Shrimp taste just as good chilled as they did when they were warm. 😋 It also means that I don’t have to cook today, and that task can be dealt with tomorrow.
SOTD = Azuree again. Its dryness is cutting thru the humidity quite well.
4th leftovers here, too!
Love that Spooky🐅💓
Leftovers can be a wonderful thing, IMO.
hee hee, my calico was sometimes rather mouthy 😀 I liked it when she would talk back to me as tho we were having a conversation.
Unfortunately, the reason Spooky was kvetching was an upset tummy. She threw up shortly after my original spot. 🤮
Awww. Poor thing.
Aww… hope Spooky will be feeling better soon.
You smell great, I have the modern one which I tested at a EL counter, never smelled vintage.

Yay for not cooking! I’m sitting here right now trying to figure out what to make. I really don’t want to turn the oven on.
Good luck figuring out something easy for dinner!
Hot and humid here. Today is my Friday and I am happy about it. I slept horrible last night due to my mind not shutting down. When I finally did fall asleep I had upsetting dreams.
My sotd is Alien eau Sublime. I think I might get to thunking distance by the end of summer.
I hate it when my brain doesn’t shut up at night!
Fingers crossed for tonight.
Sorry about the upsetting dreams.
Wishing you a very peaceful night.
Do you love Alien and all things Alien?
I mostly do! Even the one’s that I don’t love, I still have a soft spot for.
Would you like a bunch of new samples of different 👽?
Wishing you a better night!
Hope you had a better night Lillyjo.
