DKNY Summer, Nickel Eau Maximum & more new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 12 April 2006 11 Comments

Donna Karan DKNY Summer fragranceDonna Karan will launch DKNY Summer, shown at right, a...

...“spirited twist” on the original DKNY fragrance, the limited-edition scent is said to represent “summer in a bottle”. The juice features notes of blood oranges, chilled vodka, red thyme and tomato leaves, on a base of white birch and tulip tree wood. (via moodiereport)

DKNY Summer is available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Nickel Eau Maximum fragranceMen's skincare line Nickel has released their second fragrance, Eau Maximum. Described as a "treatment fragrance" for men, it was developed by perfumer Jean Pierre Bethouart. The notes include grapefruit, orange, cinnamon, spearmint, rosemary, sage, thyme, nutmeg, coca leaf, tea leaf, cedar, patchouli and white musk. Nickel Eau Maximum is available in 40, 75 and 125 ml Eau de Soin. (via osmoz, sephora.fr & nickel)

Guerlain Muguet, a fragrance with lily of the valley, jasmine and sandalwood, will be sold at Guerlain's Paris flagship store on one day only: April 29. There are only 190 bottles, so get there early if you must have it. According to Beauté Conseils, it is a creation of Jean Paul Guerlain, but I believe it is a reissue (in honor of its 100th anniversary) of a 1906 fragrance by Jacques Guerlain; perhaps Jean Paul Guerlain is responsible for the current formulation.

Revlon Flair fragranceAs previously reported, Revlon will launch Flair, "its first launch in the selective fragrance segment since 1982", this summer (launch put off until 2007). Here is the bottle (see picture at right), in case you were dying to see it. (via cosmeticnews) Update: the launch of Revlon Flair was postponed after Revlon experienced serious financial difficulties.

M, BG used to have a tester of this scent, although they didn't have it in stock (this was several years ago). It was very pretty, but nothing can compete with my beloved Diorissimo — which you probably detest, right?

I assume this is the same Muguet that I bought from Saks 3 or 4 years ago. It must be. I saw a bottle of this in one of the Guerlain boutiques —maybe 2 years ago, maybe last fall in the Champs Elysee one. Can't remember now. It's a very nice lov, resting on the Guerlinade base. Starts out with the harsh aspect of lov, but ends up beautifully warm and soft. The bottle itself is very pretty, too.

L, Hang on to that bottle: now it is apparently going to be a collectors item, LOL, and fodder for massive ebay profits :-)

I agree with colombina, it's so unfair 190 bottles and only at the Paris boutique. Makes me mad, and I really don't care for the scent either. But how dare they deny me the chance to sniff it!!

As for DKNY Summer, I'm a sucker for blood oranges, so I'll give that a go.

The DKNY summer does sound nice! I can't remember the original and will have to go smell it again.

One day?!? That is just ridiculous. :-( Taking this exclusive concept to new lows. Of course if it smells like their other new crap (Love is All etc.) who cares?

    (sulk)

    The DK sounds delish, though.

I suspect it has to do something with May 1 being Fête du Muguet in France.

I received my bottle of Guerlain Muguet last night – it was truly fabulous. The only disappointment was that it was a 28ml bottle of EDT – yes, EDT!! How can I spritz with wild abandon with only 28ml?? Wail.

Congrats, that is a gorgeous bottle! Had no idea it was so small — you're right, you're going to have to ration it.
