Tuesday, and International Cat Day, plus Happiness Happens Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm starting vetiver week (a day late) with Honoré des Prés Chaman's Party.
Reminder: on 8/11, wear a fragrance with vetiver, if you have one. (Need ideas? See 5 perfumes: vetiver fragrances for fall, winter, spring, summer.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Eva Solo Drip Free Tea Maker with Neoprene Cover runs about $85 on Amazon.
Angelique Noire
Dunkin Donuts coffee
Perfect temperature outside
You smell divine!!
why thank you
Lovely!
Sounds like an excellent start to your day! ????????
It’s a good day to wear Azemour. It never fails.
Azemour is so good.
Yas!
So true.
Probably one of the best citrus chypre out there
Today’s tea: Stash Green & Black Chai.
Today’s scent: Dior Dune from my vintage mini bottle, inspired by ringthing’s SOTD yesterday.
Also, HAPPY INTERNATIONAL CAT DAY!!
https://twitter.com/catsu/status/891042403024605184
Today’s goal: Go find a cat to pet.
Mission accomplished.
my goal in life too
I’m drinking Stash Green Chai tea.
House twins 😉
I am wearing Genie des Bois from Keiko Mecheri. It’s refreshing but perhaps more sweet (the violet?) than I am in the mood for.
Every day is cat day at my house!
Cats probably have an International Human Day 🙂
So true!
Hmmm…more like ‘ International Staff Day’ if other cats are like mine 😉
Sample of the day is Solstice Scents Mountain Vanilla which smells like dirt and clover and the marshmallow that fell to the ground and got covered with the dirt. Fun but not something I need a full bottle of.
On the bus at the moment headed to NY to talk to admissions at school and possibly demonstrate that I still know how to needle. Afterwards I will celebrate by going sniffing (and possibly acquiring more samples). If anyone is around later this afternoon and wants to join me my screen name is my yahoo address
Great description, that part about the marshmallow gave me a good laugh! Not sure I’d want to try it, but I’m glad it’s a fun scent!
Clouds, rain
Severe lack of sleep
A bit fed up with work stuff
Can I order some energy and motivation online please? 😉
Vetiver extraordinaire (by FM) offered me some comfort for at least 4 to 5 hours. I can still detect it from an inch away.
Passing you some DD coffee and some of my crazy monkey and chubby buddha’s endless energy.
Thank you! 🙂
And of course: happy international cat day.
Though for most cats i know, everyday is cat day. 😉
So true!
Wearing TDC Sel de Vetiver, drinking rose black tea.
Sel de Vetiver is usually a bit too much for me, but the bracing saltiness is nice when I need an energy boost.
Ah, I forgot to report my tea earlier, so I’ll go make some black rose tea too 🙂
You smell great! i like it best in hot weather, probably because of that envigorating saltiness you mentioned. 🙂
SOTD is Lost Marc’h Iroaz. I like this more and more each time I wear it.
Yesterday was a holiday here, so I am suffering from a long weekend-Tuesday-is-my-Monday day.
I was reaching for Tauers Vetiver Dance, when I actually knocked over my Sotto La Luna Gardenia. I took it as a sign. Gardenia it is.
Ha! And a lovely sign it is!
Happy International Cat day to all our Nster’s like Waterdragon with Dakkie and new additions, Elisa P. and her lovely furries and anyone else here with cats!
Wearing a tiny spritz of Terre d’Hermes (thanks Coin-Op). I had never tried it before and it is a very bright and nutty vetiver. Pleasant and enjoyable!
I love that one and so does my guy. You smell great!
My honey wears that one too and it’s so nice on him. You smell wonderful!
Thank you Eldiyen. It is a really nice scent.
Thank you! Hope everything is going well with your upcoming life changes.
my gravatar use to be our cats face. I love my furry first child
I used to have cats and would love to have one. I have a small dog now, so let’s see what the future will bring.
Thank you! I do love my furries (although the one in my gravatar is furless).
You smell great! Terre is a classic. I know someone who has it as a signature scent, everytime i smell Terre I smell that person. Thank god its a very nice and lovely person. 🙂
🙂
Scent twins! I love Terre d’Hermes!
Hello twin, we smell great!
You smell wonderful!
Thank you! 🙂 😉
I am also in Terre d’Hermes and liking it very much.
You smell great!
You smell awesome!~ I recently bought a big ole bottle of it from Zulily- great to spray on and perfect for summer!
such a nice scent!
I was at a party and some asked the host what perfume he was wearing. The host said he recently bought it at duty free but couldn’t remember the name of it. I took a sniff and said Terre d’Hermes and he goes, “That’s it! How did you know?” And I said, I have a bottle.
Starting out with iced coffee and a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese.
SOTD: Dame Peach Blossom, Violet & Vanilla – it’s light and easy, as I don’t want to gas out the chiropractor. I’m feeling creaky, and I need him now.
Will move on to Encre Noir later in the day.
Y’all have a good one! 🙂
Good luck at the chiropractor!
Thanks! I feel much better.
Smelling good! i have a full bottle of that one 🙂
I can see why. I think these three note edt’s wear so nicely when you need something really subtle, but you don’t want to go commando.
My favorite so far has to be Mate, Heliotrope & Patchouli. 🙂
exactly…they are just pretty and so versatile, right? Mate, Heliotrope and Patchouli would have been my next full bottle from Dame had I not put myself on a no buy.
Ooh, yeah, that one and Desert Rose are my faves so far.
Good morning Y’all!
It’s rainy and a wee bit cool this morning, so I was in the mood for a richer scent than my usual summer fare. Went with Clinique Aromatics in White and enjoying it!
Happy International Cat Day from Gandalf and Shadow! They hope you continue to loyally serve your own kitties, and follow their every command as always….LOL! Here are my furry sons! https://www.instagram.com/p/BXiTqqRAI0P/?taken-by=jadainga99
Ditto from Hoshi and Kokoro (Star and Heart in Japanese).
Cute kitties! Happy day!
Your cats are beautiful!
Always love when Shadow makes an appearance on your youtube channel 🙂
Your cats are adorable!
Vétiver Tonka – love it, though it’s normally an autumn/ winter scent for me. Feel a bit washed-out, though, so something comforting is nice.
Now I know what to wear tomorrow 😉 You smell wonderful.
I only have one vetiver scent (and that is due to the kindness of Coin-Op) so I’m saving it for Friday. Sud Magnolia for me today.
Good morning! I have not been able to wear a full on vetiver since an unfortunate accident with Encre Noir, so today I am on my last drops of Chanel Boy.
Do tell us about the accident!
Fat Electrician today from the Etat Libre sampler I’ve been letting languish. For a sweetened vetiver, I prefer the Hermes one. Also, I don’t know what it is about this line that just doesn’t appeal to me that much. The names, the packaging – I’m not that cool anymore I suppose.
Naw, you’re still cool. The names are a bit extra with this line, although the fragrances are lovely!
Aw thanks! 🙂 I must say I also put on a dab of that Fils one and I am liking it!!
Or you’re too cool for it. It’s kind of the epitome of ‘trying too hard,’ IMO.
🙂
Haha! Either way, I love perfume so I must be cool–because perfume loving folks are the coolest 🙂
Tea of the day: Tea of Life wellness detox (from Marshalls) could just be called “coriander tea”
A woman just came into my office smelling fabulous – she was wearing Jardin sur le Nil and she smelled amazing.
I’m feeling melancholy because I don’t think I will ever smell that good. Maybe I just don’t have the skin for it – I know, I know, I should put on oil or spritz my clothes, but it is never enough. Boo hoo! Maybe that is why I am on a quest for perfume, thinking that I will eventually find something magical, but perhaps I am a better appreciator than wearer 🙁
I am sure, every time you wear your perfumes you smell great and people around you notice it, even thought they do not tell you. Spritz some in your clothes for more projection, spray a little more on your skin or wear the perfume’s body lotion for more tenacity and longevity. I do that sometimes and it works beautifully. You will find so many beauties in your journey and magical moments will come the more you explore.
Thanks 🙂 it is kind of weird that other people can get more pleasure for fragrance esp when you wear it mostly for yourself – thank you for these reminders, I will keep trying!
Remember- you DO smell good, just that you get used to your own perfume after a few minutes. Spray your torso, arms and legs- scent rises with heat, so you will be able to appreciate the scent for a longer period of time.
OK, good ideas, have not tried torso & legs – I wish I could dangle little perfume bottles close to my nostrils, ha
I wonder if she was wearing the body lotion?
Ditto on the wondering. I love JslN but it has very little projection on me.
Really? It’s massive on me. And I have projection-challenged skin.
That’s a good question…I have smelled and worn Jardin sur le Nil, but this was more vibrant, maybe you are on to something, if I see her again I will try to find out.
I wonder how much she sprayed. I’ve read NST commenters who spray 7-8 times. Maybe you just need to spritz more?
Personally, I have a light hand, and I hardly ever receive comments unless I’ve just recently applied my fragrance. That suits me fine; I worry about bothering people around me, though I LOVE to smell perfume in the wild on people.
Yesterday someone came into my office who smelled AH-MAZING. She was seated with an agent, and I walked past her desk 4 or 5 times wondering what she was wearing. I followed her outside and asked discreetly, and she said “Tom Ford. The purple one.” It was the perfect amount of perfume. I wonder how much she applied, and which one ‘the purple one’ is. Maybe Velvet Orchid?
I think Velvet Orchid is the most likely candidate, but possibly Café rose? She is my idol, she smells great, and doesn’t even know the name of her perfume, she’s killing it.
7-8 sprays might do it! I’m at around 5, and they may not even be full spritzes.
Maybe we should put signs up “Public Notice: If you are wearing perfume, kindly disclose the house, concentration and number of spritzs before proceeding with business.”
More is more. Go big or go home!
I woke up with a craving for Alaia Paris so tbat is my SOTD.
you smell so pretty!
????
beautiful! this is a scent I have admired on others!
Two thumbs up!
You smell great! (I almost went with that today.)
Happy International Cat Day from Cole and Kooky! Every day is International Cat Day in our (their) house 🙂
SOTD is Fat Electrician. Haven’t worn this in a while; forgot how much I enjoy it.
You smell great!
I am in Nirvana Rose today, which isn’t a vetiver scent per se, but it does contain vetiver and I can actually smell it (I’m usually bad at picking out individual notes), so I think it counts for this week!
Thanks for all of the well wishes and positivity on my move and interviews and such. Perfume people are the BEST people! I can never feel worried or stressed after I stop in here for the day!
Nirvana Rose is so nice. You smell great.
Yes to everything you said! This is a special place to celebrate and to lick wounds. Plus it smells amazing!
You smell lovely! I love Nirvana Rose.
Very pretty SOTD. I ought to re-sniff my sample of that soon.
Today I’m wearing Zoologist’s Dragonfly.
Oh! How do you like it?
Séville à l’Aube for me today.
How are all the cat lovers celebrating today? I miss having a cat but no can do with the allergic spouse. Such wonderful pets.
I’m living in a cat-less house too, so I celebrate by skritching the chin of my sister’s cat.
Cats are marvelous furry pets, but after almost 20 years on litter box duty I am on a looooong hiatus for now. 😉
Every day is Cat Day in my house. My little guys turned 5 last week and they got some new toys which they are enjoying.
Inspired by austenfan yesterday, I’m wearing a small spritz of YSL Paris edt from a cute mini. I think I’m liking it more than I used to. Maybe (low) dosage is the key.
Aww. You are such a great kitty mom.
My husband says the our cat is the king of the house. I guess that makes us the servants who do his bidding. ????
Thanks , as are you???? They follow me around every night and whine or just sit in front of me and stare me down until I play with them, lol. We are their slaves, aren’t we?
I was going to wear Paris today but veered in another direction. I love it in summer. (Year-round, really.) I’m envious of your spray mini! I have one but it’s a dabber – though I do have a Champagne spray mini.
I think it’s 15ml and a more current version. Got it in a freebie meet!
Happy Tuesday!
1) SOTD: TF Grey Vetiver (from a sample, stolen from my godson’s bottle) I am wear a crisp white blouse and white pants with a tropical floral print camisole, and this scent seems to perfect fit the crisp white blouse. Very citrussy + with that lovely powdery iris drydown.
2) Am aggravated at the lack of efficiency in other departments within my company, and the fact that only a hard tone of voice and practically bullying is needed to make people MOVE.
Your outfit and fragrance really are perfect together. Hope your coworkers start moving with a sense of urgency soon.
Oh, thank you! And it really does seem that the squeakest wheel gets the grease! 🙁
You smell and look great!
Thank you so much! 🙂
Inefficient systems are the bane of my existence!! Sadly, I’m in the medical field and it’s a field ruled by a God named “Pointless, Time Wasting, Inefficient, we’re gonna break you down and make you cry at the enormity of WASTE God!” Unfortunately, a hard tone of voice gets me nowhere. And neither do bad words ????
Our inefficient systems are compounded by humans who have no critical thinking skills and no sense of connection. It took a hard tone of voice PLUS a word from a CEO (yes, I did that) to get things working. I am in manufacturing tech, where we are dealing with legacy systems- and people who do not like to refer to those systems outside their own, even when necessary. This is a horrible think, especially for some one who has studied systems technology. GGRRRRRR.
I honestly think i would have a heart attack if I was in the medical field.
Inefficiency! Someone wanted me to do my function’s portion of THEIR project’s UAT. Ummm, what project? Never heard of it. What is the timeline? Oh going live in November? Really? It is not in my book of work, not in our tech team’s book of work so, No.
OMG- Just ARRRGGGHHHHH!
Robin, you always have the neatest photos for the SOTD! Noir Epices – I think this is “the one” for me. I enjoy everything I have, but NE is something else.
agreed! have not smelled NE yet, but sounds great, and what a great name!
On the Frederic Malle website, there’s a video of the creator of Noir Epices, and it is fascinating (to me anyhow????) to learn about the creation of this scent, and in fact all of the scents in the Malle line.
I enjoyed watching those videos, too. Gives me more perspective when wearing the perfumes.
That sounds interesting, I will have to check it out
I am glad you like them!
????
I love Noir Épices and even though I don’t know Michel Roudnitska personally, I hear he is a very kind and special person. He is very spiritual and and a committed environmentalist. I enjoy thinking about him when I wear his perfume.
That is quite lovely, and I’m happy to know that about him.
Had something odd happen. I pulled out my Lyric full bottle and for last night’s perfume and it smelled kind of off. I’ve been wearing the Lyric travel spray often so I have to wear Lyric for a few days to figure out if it’s due to reformulation or is going bad. The bottle is only 5 years old and shouldn’t be bad yet.
Oh no. I sure hope not. Lyric is great in the summer heat. I just had to throw away a cheapie, Pacifica French Lilac. I didn’t wear it often but I would have been much more upset if it was my Lyric.
Oy. I should probably start using my Pacficas instead of sitting on them.
I know, it seemed fine a few months ago.
Yeeesh I have been having a crazy week. The short version is that five days before a house appraiser was due at our house (need to refi, long boring story) a massive oak tree, 4′ diameter trunk, came crashing down in our back yard, crushing a small deck in the far back and smaller trees. Huge mess. No one hurt, but so many trees were damaged we now have an enormous tree pruning project on top of the clean up. There are slalom-sized drifts of saw dust out there that every imaginable animal has come by to check out. The scent of fresh cut oak is lovely. I swear a deer gave me a look yesterday that said, “Darling, I love what you’ve done with the place!”
In more perfume related news, my older son asked me to smell his shampoo, which he said he loved the scent of. So I did, and it was surprisingly familiar. Tropical florals like maybe tiare with a hint of white rose, citrus, honey, and vanilla with coconut. Thinking. Thinking. Ding. Ding. Ding. Bronze Goddess! He loves it. I’ll give him a decant. He doesn’t need to know the name just yet. ????
Not sure what frag to wear today. I’m in the mood for patchouli. Maybe Ubar, very lighty applied will be just the right juju to face the tree cutters another day.
Ouch, that’s a boatload of work and headache. Best of luck with everything!
Tiny silver lining – you are in a great position to judge the oakiness of the soon-to-be-launched Jo Malones?
Oh, wow, glad no one was hurt. What a project though – love the image of the deer communicating to you!
What shampoo was your son actually using? Also, how old is he? My oldest will be 12 soon, looking for a starter cologne.
My son is 17. One of his first “grown up” colognes a few years back was Prada Luna Rossa. I thought it smelled great on him. A woody citrus, somewhat sporty thing, but so nice I thought. And also not too grown up that it didn’t suit him. 🙂
Well, and I say “cologne” but it’s actually an EdT….
oh, I think I have a sample of that from a Nordstrom purchase, I will have him try it, thanks!
My son is 16. So the shampoo is nothing to rock your world–Garnier’s “Honey Treasures.” But BG is a good match I think. I’ve got him wearing Timbuktu already, but summer at 16 invariably means coconut’s in the mix of scent memories.
So sorry! But so glad it did not hit your house!
(But what is the shampoo??)
Me too! Shampoo is Garnier Whole Blends “Honey Treasures,” which is a hilarious name now that I think if it.
It is hilarious! Plus, would never guess it would smell like Bronze Goddess, which is also a hilarious name.
Sorry about the whole mess. Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon.
So glad no one was hurt, but gosh, still a big pain! I hope clean up goes smoothly.
What a pain! Glad no one was hurt, though.
One of my favorites games is to give my guys (bf and son) scents to wear and not tell them what it is lol. They usually love what I pick for them, but I know if they knew the name they’d balk about wearing them.
oooh, big trees are beautiful. It’s sad when they come down. So sorry to hear about the mess.
I liked hearing about your son’s shampoo, what is it? My son uses Agadir mousse on his hair and it has a marvelous fragrance, to me it smells quite like Bvlgari Black.
Ugh sorry to hear about your tree mess. At least it didn’t hit your house and do more serious damage.
And now I’m curious to know what this shampoo is. 🙂
Bummer about losing a big old tree. However, I’m glad to hear that your house didn’t get damaged.
Caron Piu Bellodgia is my SOTD. I was craving carnations today 🙂
A Rosine, but I can’t remember which one it is. I inadvertently let my sample of la Rose de Rosine leak all of its contents. A shame, it would have made for a few more wears.
Atelier Vetiver Fatal. This is my favourite from the line, yet It doesn’t last very long.
Commando so far but will likely opt for something citrus-y as the temps rise.
The rose + vetiver I searched for yesterday was Nirvana Rose. Couldn’t find it because I liked it well enough to use up a big sample. Thanks to KellyC for jogging my memory.
Love the neoprene + tea up top. I’ve had a cuppa and looked at the live streams on tinykittens.com, so now it’s time for my game face and a terrific Tuesday. Onward!
Ha! I didn’t even see your comment yesterday! I really think the Nirvana’s are nice for celebrity scents. I know they’re technically designer scents since Elizabeth and James is a design house, but I always think of them as the Olsen twins haha.
I agree completely, the Nirvana scents are well done. I like the first four, especially Bourbon. The two new scents look very nice so I’ll be toddling off to Sephora one of these days for more samples. 😉
I gave myself a brisk wake-up with some fridge-cold AG Vetiver.
My cat is an international cat (in that I found her on the streets in Texas, and she made the move to Vancouver with me.) So: celebrate Dusty day. 🙂
The best cats are those who find us….
Celebrating Dusty (and Vlad of course who hasn’t ever even left the house, except to the vet)!
Vlad is definitely an international lady of mystery, even if she’s never left the house.
Awww. Lucky Dusty, and lucky jjlook????
What’s happening with the weather today…cold or hot? Maybe a dab of Fahrenheit will help figure it out. Sampled this at my off-site storage yesterday and was surprised as I hadn’t sniffed it before. It was lighter than I expected, putting me in mind of a CK type cologne….but a decent one . This could be due to the light application from the lovely assistant behind the counter. Sometimes I feel like those characters in movies who sit at the bar and watch the bar-person pouring single shots before snatching the bottle from the server’s hand and filling the glass ( and keeping the bottle). Also noticed that Fahrenheit was on the bottom shelf.
Happy cat day to all the feline fans out there.
I remember when Fahrenheit came out, really liking it and wanting to wear it. At the time though, perfume gender was pretty strict, so I just sprayed the cards and sniffed periodically.
I need to go back and get my hands on the tester bottle so I can get a decent spray. I’m curious about the hawthorn note.
Oooh I love Fahrenheit! (it does not get mentioned a lot here)
Don’t tell my four cats about the day….they’re demanding enough as it is!!
So much for planning ahead. I love Vetiver but didn’t pack any for my trip to CA…am on the plane as I type. Wearing spritz of California Reverie but brought only small decants of Yosh Sottile and Narciso with me, as well as travel sprays of Saint Julep and OJ Frangipani. Doing only carry on, so that silly little plastic bag limited me.
Have a safe trip!
TSA is so inconsistent! For my recent travels, I did not have to pull out the baggie. I think as long as the stuff inside a baggie is less than 3oz each, you can probably get away with 2+ baggies.
They are inconsistent… it amuses me that on Jet Blue (which I love) out of JFK, I’m always TSA precheck. But for my return from SFO, I’m regular….
I think you are likely right on the baggies. I never pull the bag out, by the way. I leave it in the backpack.
Today was one of those trips where it seemed everyone was a new traveler. Clueless at security and then a free for all boarding process. But everyone was surprisingly good natured, which is mostly what matters.
Vetiver-less in Hermes Jardin Sur le Nil.
I did enjoy using the Hermes Orange Verte soap gifted to me this past xmas for the first time in my shower this morning. I’m a lucky lady!
Oh, that sounds like another soap I need!
The Perfume Court is having a 5ml decants sale for $8.99, until this coming Friday. I did not even check what they have available, just to avoid the temptation.
Ughhhhh, I’ve been fighting the urge to hurry and buy a few things before I don’t have a job anymore haha! But I mean, $8.99 is a bargain. 🙂
uh oh….
It’s the same stuff they’re always trying to get rid of. No need to feel deprived. 😉
For newbies is a good chance to explore… 😉
Even if they PAID me to take the decants off their hands, I will turn my back on them. Bad experience with them.
Second attempt. First post was destroyed when Alexander launched himself at the iPad and achieved something weird. The screen disappeared, along with my paragraph.
So. Best of good mornings to all of you, and your cats, from this perhaps over-kittened household. Chez Waterdragon, all is chaos, but never mind. I am imposing order (of a sort) by being BEAUTIFULLY scented, in Oeillet Bengale, just the thing for a cold wet day. Wednesday, and a heavy teaching day, lots of admin: I shall waft through it in a cloud of carnation and my favourite jersey. Be well, all. Eric waves a tiny, red-tinted paw by way of greeting; Dakkie sighs in a slightly long-suffering manner, as though thinking, “Youth! No manners!” To himself. . Titus and Alexander are locked in a death struggle for a ball of pink fur….life is normal, in other words.
Four cats! I clearly haven’t kept up with developments, I thought three 🙂
You smell lovely. Oeillet Bengale has been hovering around my list of future purchases for a while – not quite made it on the list which is already too long, but not forgotten.
Do it! It’s quite lovely, and different from anything else.
SOTD = Gucci Guilty Absolute
Vetiver. Check!
There is too much of something in this that make it smell of acrid smoke. I tried to like this by itself but I’ve come to the conclusion that this will not happen. With that said, it is good if layered with a vanilla. Today, I layered on Le Labo Vanille 44 and Il Profumo Bourbon Vanilla. The results? Perfect!
Commuting Woes, Part 374:
Don’t you hate it when people block the doors (inside the train and on the platform) when you’re trying to get out and some people charge into the train before you can even get out? Guess what? Unless you look infirm, I have no choice but to get out of the train via the narrow passage and if someone gets bumped by my body or my bag, it it cannot be helped.
I hate that with elevators too. Let people off first! I get that smoke smell with the Absolute also, I will try the vanilla layering combo.
Yep…and even if they step off to the side they are on the side where you must exit so you have to make a wide berth around them.
How about people standing by the door and not moving an inch no matter if others are trying to get in or out? Even if you push them, they keep glued on the spot. Sorry guys, I am not going to be late or miss my stop just because of you, so I am going thru no matter what….
Same here…eyes looking 50 miles ahead, singly focused on getting off and into the next segment of the commute!
And people who look up and see people getting on and decide to keep their bag on an empty seat (I’m on the subway now and asked someone to move their bag and they did the big resentlful sigh).
And they seriously think that no one will ask to sit there?
I can’t help but add the people on a bus that insist on sitting in the outside seat with the window seat vacant while people are sardined standing in the aisles. Always avoiding any eye contact. Then if you dare ask to sit they half-heartedly slightly swing their legs to the side to let you in. They always get a purse in the face and likely a step on the toe and my butt in their face as well. Not that I’m bothered by such behavior. 😉
I can relate! You’ve met me and know I am not a skinny-minnie. Some people have a warped sense that they are tiny and that they can shrink their leg back and expect me to contort and pass by her to get to the aisle to get off the train. One such person did this and I made it all about me by saying that I am not skinny enough to pass through and that she may want to stay clear since I have a big backpack.
I walked into my sons room and for the first time smelled fragrance! I asked if he sprayed something? He reluctantly said yes. It was one of the Curves. I don’t think he wanted me to know, lol. Sotd is Nirvana Amethyst. I really like it. I can definitely smell tobacco at the top, like an unlit cigarette. It’s supposed to have honeysuckle, but so far, I wouldn’t know it. Mostly for me, it’s tobacco and spices. I would prefer more projection, but will just spray more.
Yay on your son spraying fragrance! I love when my son sprays perfume on. He smells so great. He went through an Axe Body Spray phase in middle school, but thankfully he is on to more department store stuff these days, which is def an improvement over the Axe lol
I will have to stop by Sephora and try the Amethyst, sounds like something I’d like.
I was hoping you’d report on Amethyst today. It sounds good.
Thanks for the update on the E&J Amethyst.
E&J Amethyst sounds great! Thanks for the report.
Late to this today but I’m in Olympic Orchids Siam Proun. A nice, warm, incensy, herbal scent for summer. It’s meant to smell like the countryside of Provence and it does very much remind me of the south of France in the summertime, so mission accomplished!
Oh that sounds so nice!
Since the vetiver I worn this morning does not last all day i decided to follow up with TWO vetivers, from samples.
In the left corner:
Vetiver Insolent by Miller Harris,
i like the vetiver-cardemom combo but it also has a an almost acidic vibe (like vinegar) on my skin that bothers me a bit.
In the right corner:
Vetyver, by Mona di Orio
The grapefruit or lemon gives this the impression of slightly dirty dishwater
Both are not bad, but so far i am not really impressed. Then again, i like my vetivers smoky (Vitro, sycomore) or a bit sweet (fat electrician).
But maybe i should judge these on their own next time.
It is always fun to compare but you do not always get the best impression of how a scent works solo.
Also, this was first test round for these vetivers.
I mean Vitrum!!! not Vitro…i blame Mona di Orio for this typo 😉
Just NOT in the mood for vetiver today….needed a comfort scent so went with Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar…the morning started off very annoying and I needed some aromatherapy 🙂
Annoying is the pits! Hope things get better as the day progresses ????
Thank you 🙂
I hope the day improves!, I really need to seek out the Pacifica’s.
I will be heading out to yoga and that should help. And yes, do try the Pacificas before they d/c more of the good ones 🙁
Bleah on the annoying start. I hope your day got better.
It did! just got back from a fantastic yin yoga class.
I hope your day got better chocolate marzipan 🙂
I have been eyeing that coconut sent – I might have to bite the bullet.
My order from Eden botanicals is on its way – I am so excited to know what galbanum, Landanum and osmanthus smell like!
Bite the bullet! It is so cheap!!!
Oh I am SO excited that you got some essential oil goodies! I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about everything you sample (good and bad…be brutally honest-LOL!)
Yes, will do! Even if they stink, it will be great to have reference points for lists of ingredients!
Chocolatemarzipan8!
I just checked fragrantica and vetiver is listed as one of the ingredients in Pacifica’s Indian coconut nectar
Winning!
You are the best 🙂
We’re having a bit of a break from the hot weather, so to celebrate I’m wearing an old favorite — Caron’s Parfum Sacre.
A favorite of my too. Cant wait to wear it in autumn.
Don’t currently keep company with any cats, but I have in the past. There is nothing like a cat for showing elegant disdain. It must be in their genetic makeup.
SOTD will be Mazzolari Vetiver after I shower. Contemplating a full bottle of this one…
T-Rex and I had a great morning and early afternoon hiking at Paris Mountain State Park. Beautiful area and nice people. Somehow managed to drop my card case with my DL, bank card, and CCW license and didnt even know it until a jogger passed me by going the opposite direction, and then 10 minutes later, ran after me to give me what I didn’t know I had lost. He was a lean machine and I envied him his dedication to an exercise that makes me cringe.
Also had a chance to christen my new hikers! So incredibly comfortable and light. I paid more than I wanted to but as soon as my feet slipped in them I knew.
I have my glasses for the eclipse and a reserved camping spot, so I’m totally stoked about that because I’m right in the path of totality. Hoping it’s a clear day!!
Cheers all! ✌????
Oh, good luck with the eclipse viewing!!
You’re so in love with that vetiver, I’m almost convinced that *I* need a FB! 😉
Oh lucky you! hoping for a clear day for you!!!!
Lucky you, seeing totality! It’s an incredible experience. I’ll be seeing a partial eclipse where I am at.
Sounds like a perfect vision quest day!
Having a lemon rather than vetiver day. Began with Carthusia Mediterraneo; from then moved to Profumum Roma Meringa, the last of a very old (and off) sample of AG Eau d’Hadrien, and Guerlain Herba Fresca. And with that, have emptied 4 decants/sample vials. *dons crown*
Wow! You did good !
You win.
Impressive!
sample drop.
Clap, clap.
I’m in Berdoues Oud al-Sahraa today. I like it, but basically because all I get is kind of a dry labdanum/amber and that’s fine with me. It’s a kind of scent I generally like even though I’ve smelled it eleventy billion times.
I know what they’re trying to pass off as oud here. It’s nowhere close, and it’s basically just a raspy wood note. Fortunately, though, it’s used with a light enough hand that it just creates kind of a dryness in the amber without being annoying.
I really like that tea maker up top. The cover even kind of matches the walls in my kitchen/dining room. 🙂
I get no oud either…it is a jammy resinous amber on both myself and the younger family member I gifted the full bottle to. I rather like it on me but love it on her.
I think we must be evil scent twins for I love the Berdoues line and you don’t seem to be having too much luck with it!
Eh.. different strokes. I don’t hate them or anything. I’ve just been a bit less than impressed thus far. As I said on this one, though, I do actually like it, mostly because I’m a bit of a sucker for resinous amber. I liked Selva do Brasil too.
Based on my preliminary sniffing, the one that I was kind of excited about was Arz El Rab, so I’m kinda saving that one for last. The sweet-ish cedar note is so well done there. Kind of reminds me of real Atlas Cedar oil.
I know..you can’t love em all 🙂 I think I am also partially biased because I have severe bottle porn (love those bottles all lined up in a row!)
I like Arz el Rab…the youngest family member in our house (who is male) wears that one and it is all about the cedar on his skin….it smells amazing on him…yes, just like cedarwood essential oil.
and mind you everyone I gifted those bottles to has already been told that they are MINE when the juice has been drained -LOL!
Super boring employee training all day – you know the kind, where they walk you through a million screens of a software program you already know how to use. So I wore my most riveting perfume, Une Rose. It helped!
I’m envisioning a flash of crimson in a drab grey room. You smell lovely. I always contemplate a travel soray if that one. Love the wine dregs smell in it.
I was a non-participant today in Atelier’s Mandarine Glaciale . . . or so I thought. I kept getting whiffs of something that smelled suspiciously like vetiver, and when I checked the notes there it was! This is def one of my favorite Ateliers.
Oh yay! I do have that one so I can do a 2 vetiver week! Thanks, I thought I only had 1!
Ha – glad to help! I got quite a bit of vetiver in the drydown of this one.
I went with the quiet Body Shop Smoky Poppy today.
Happy Cat Day! I don’t have a pet cat, but I do have neighborhood bobcats. In fact, one jumped into my walled-in backyard a few days ago. It hung out in the shade for a while and had a ground squirrel as a snack.????
I’ve never seen bobcats unless I’ve been at the zoo! That’s kind of cool and scary at the same time.
They’re so gorgeous. As long as you don’t corner/surprise one, there’s really no reason to be scared of bobcats. They’ll usually run off or hide so you never see them in the first place. True story: I’ve actually had one walk up to 2 family members and me (while we were outside working on a car), stop within 3 feet of us, look at us for a second, and then just keep on walking!! It was like, “Hey guys. What’re you doing? OK, laters….”
Now, mountain lions are a completely different story. And apparently there’s one in the neighborhood too. *That* is downright frightening!
I love bobcats! Don’t see them too often in my neighborhood.
They’re the best! I’m really lucky to live in just the right kind of area. Do you ever see coyotes or javelina?
Wow, I love seeing wild life from the safety of my house. ???? It must have been a thrill!
Ha, sometimes I see the wildlife while I’m *outside*, too!????They are always a joy to see. If I could only have one as a pet, raised from when it was a kitten….
Just to rub it in, I’ll add that I can see coyotes pretty often, and there are javelina in the neighborhood too. There are Cooper’s hawks that hang around. And the best is that there’s a family of great horned owls that has for two years now nested across the street and then lived primarily in my backyard and those of my two neighbors. They are magnificent and surprisingly entertaining.
I was just kidding about hiding in the house. ???? We have wild turkeys, grouse, coyotes, bobcat, deer, a variety of owls, fox, hawks (although I don’t know their exact species), and black bears. We see all of the birds, foxes and coyotes in our yard routinely. I had to chase a coyote out of my yard during the daytime several times this summer because our cat was outside. We have a large field behind our house that borders Audubon property so we get to see a lot. It’s wonderful!
I’m really digging today’s teapot! Not so much the price tag, though.
Happy International Cat Day from Teflon, Pixel, and Spooky! They are all napping now, so I won’t disturb them!
SOTD = Flora by Gucci Gracious Tuberose, from the sample stash. NOT tuberose at all, but would make a decent shampoo scent.
Love their names! My little hairless’ name is Fiona, but I call her Miss Spooky ????
Fiona seems to suit that cute little avatar of yours quite well! My “Spooky cat” is all black, so she kind of named herself.
Finally getting a chance to make a brief appearance after a whirlwind trip to California for a wedding and more sightseeing than was really practical. I’ve been up since 2:45 (there, which is 4:45 here so still unreasonable) and am now home but scentless and catless.
Mr. Minion is celebrating cat-day in my stead, as well as wearing Guerlain Homme, and apparently getting lots of relieved cuddles and head-buts from the feline crew. Doolittle spent almost the whole time we were gone outside due to crippling fear of the kitty-sitter and is terribly relieved to have one of her humans back.
I did wear lots of lovely perfume on my trip (Coromandel, mostly) and I got to snuggle/annoy my cousin’s wedding-dress eating furballs. It seems that cats who chew plastic also enjoy polyester tulle. Who knew? Good thing her sister is a fabric artist.
Welcome back! Sounds like you had fun and got caught in the supreme heat but you’re used to it 🙂
Happy International Cat Day from Miss Kitty, who refused to respond to the perfectly nice name I had originally given her and now controls both me and the big dog. I should have named her Stubborn, but she probably wouldn’t answer to that either.
I’ve been up to my eyebrows in computer woes, first the modem, then the router needed replacement, and this morning the laptop died. I ordered another one and went tool storage chest shopping to cheer myself up. I want a big one with lots of drawers and wheels. SOTD is Chypre Mousse. I thought it must have vetiver in it somewhere, being so green. Fragrantica says yes.
I LOL’ed at your comment about possibly naming a cat Stubborn. Too funny and too true!
I have to say the new laptop would cheer me up more than the tool storage chest, but to each his own — hope you found a nice one!
I spent International Cat Day at the shelter, playing with cats, and taking pictures of cats for the website, and (somewhat less fun) cleaning up after cats. I smell like cat. And also Jacomo #8, which the kitties seemed to like – or at least not object to.
Thank you for working with the shelter kitties!
Spilt a luckily pretty much empty sample on myself. So nicely scented in DK Labdanum and finished a sample.
Glad it was nearly empty!
Checking in late, I’m wearing De Profundis. It was a beautiful sunny day. 🙂
I’m leaning in to smell you.
Today I wore Blasted Bloom, which is often my office fragrance during warm weather; for Friday, I’m thinking of using my sample of Encre Noire Pour Elle. I like vetiver but it’s usually a supporting player in the scents I own.
I still have not smelled Blasted Bloom, need to get on the ball here.
I’ve been really busy throughout the day at work so far this week, but at least I’ve smelled good! Today I wore Guerlain Cologne du 68, and I’ve been fawning over it all day. I unearthed an old decant of it, and it has sadly evaporated some. I’ll work on using it up and then probably should go for a full bottle. 🙂
Yesterday, I smelled amazing as well in Miller et Bertaux Green, Green etc. That decant is also almost gone, and I want to spring for a bottle too. Hmm, I need to take a break from wearing decants and samples so I can stop adding to my wanted bottles list.
Two good smelling days in a row!
