Quick perfume news ~ Viktor & Rolf, Paul Smith, Lancome, Lorenzo Villoresi and Nelly

Posted by Robin on 17 April 2009 29 Comments

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb La Vie En Rose summer fragranceViktor & Rolf have introduced Flowerbomb Summer Fragrance La Vie En Rose (shown at right), a new lighter, warm-weather version of their popular Flowerbomb perfume, featuring notes of mandarin and bergamot. (via elle.nl) Also for summer, Paul Smith has reintroduced Paul Smith Sunshine Edition — you can find it now at Debenhams in the UK, and Lancôme has introduced their yearly limited edition rendition of Trésor Sheer ("Experience a fresh variation of Trésor with sparkling notes of bergamot and white pepper plus a bright freesia accord", via lancome-usa)

Coming this fall from Lorenzo Villoresi: Malenostrom (typo at WWD, sorry, should be Mare Nostrum), about which I know nothing other than the name. Also, Apple Bottoms by Nelly, the debut scent from rapper Nelly for his Apple Bottoms clothing line. (via wwd)

I’d like to try it too…if they lighten it enough, I might like it.

Yes, the regular Flowerbomb is a little intense for me, so I’m excited!

Dear Robin, I think the fragrance name for the new Villoresi is Mare Nostrum (our sea, in latin).
And indeed it smells a bit like iodine, though I don’t rember the fragrance well (when I tested it I was drowned in the new nasomatto Black afgano – wonderful?hideous?ingenious? STRONG!-, and some of the new Montales, which pretty much erased my olfactory perception)
I’m not a fan of Villoresi, but I love what he is planning to do in Florence (a “locus frangras”, i.e. fragrance place, hosting exhibits, perfume schools, and an olfactorium).

You’re so right — LV has registered that name & it must be a typo at Women’s Wear Daily. Fixed it, thanks!

The way it was originally printed could loosely be translated to “our bad”. And indeed it was! lol

          🙂

Thought it was a very odd name…

I don’t know the Apple Bottoms line but the name is hilarious! I can’t imagine why someone would want to scent themselves with anything that had the word ‘bottom’ in it, even if it belonged to an apple.

The line is meant for women with “natural curves”, so guess that’s where the name came from 😉

Oh I see. Thanks for explaining. I still don’t want to wear someone’s bottom, even if it does give me more ‘natural curves’ 🙂

        I’ll stop being silly now…..

    Hi 😀
I am eager to try the new Flowerbomb version. I love the original only for the first seconds and then it makes me feel sick but it has something that catches my “olfative attention”, so this new version may be perfect for me!

Sounds like it might be…I’m assuming it will be less sweet.

Does anyone know when the new Flowerbomb will be out? I live in Phoenix, so it seems like summer started 3 months ago 🙂

did they tone down on patchouli in a new FlowerBomb? I liked the original but it was too strong for me

Sorry, haven’t smelled it so I don’t know. But would guess it will be less strong.

Robin, your Macy’s has both of the FlowerBombs???? I don’t think we have the first one yet, but I do want to smell the new FlowerBomb. Sephora says the new one is an exclusive

Got the La Vie En Rose yesterday. It’s a very nice summery/Peppery/Spicy scent and 5 minutes later it dries down to the original scent. Nice for summer. I had 2 gift cards for sephora that I was scared I would lose and a 15% off coupon so it was basically free :). Testing it out for the next couple of days to test out the lasting power :). It’s done great so far for an EDT but they always last on me forever the first day.
