New perfumes from Hermes, Versace, Paris Hilton

Posted by Robin on 21 October 2005 20 Comments

Hermessence bottleHermes will launch Osmanthe Yunnan in November. It was...

...inspired by a stroll through Beijing's Forbidden City. The eau de toilette includes notes of tea, freesia, orange, osmanthus and apricot.

Other coming releases from Hermes include a "miniature flask of the parfum version of Eau des Merveilles, which can be worn around the neck on a leather thong", and the limited edition bottle of 24, Faubourg. Update: see a review of Hermes Osmanthe Yunnan.

Versace Man Eau Fraîche is a lighter version of 2003's Versace Man, and will feature lemon, rosewood, star fruit, cedar leaves, tarragon, sage, musk, amber and sycamore wood. (both above via Women's Wear Daily)

Paris Hilton's upcoming fragrance Just Me will feature notes of raspberry, bergamot, pink peppercorn, violet, lily of the valley, iris, freesia, white rose, ylang ylang, tahitian vanilla, sandalwood, multifaceted skin musk, and blonde woods accord. (via sephora)  Update: see a review of Paris Hilton Just Me.

A, I think I will just have to order this unsniffed!

Do you know when it will be available in November?

I have a trip planned around the 11th.

I think this will be the best unsniffed purchase ever! It has to be magnificent!

    *faints* November…very soon then…

I cannot wait to try Osmanthe Yunnan. Not that I need another Hermessence to love, I already urgently need the biggest bottle of Ambre Narguile and a bottle of Poivre Samarcande…

On a similar note, I finally got a sample of Armani Prive Ambre Soie and I am actually afraid to try it. What if I am doomed to love all the most expensive exclusive lines? *sob*

A, I have no idea, but am planning to call Hermes soon to find out. I had initially heard late-October, and still hoping that is true. My one worry is that it won't be available in the discovery set until later, and so I'll be forced to buy the big bottle, which is more than I'd like to buy unsniffed. But I'll do it if I have to!

M, I thought the Ambre Soie was pretty but nowhere near as nice as Ambre Narguile, but then, I am not a huge amber fan to begin with so what do I know?

    And don't worry, we're all doomed :-)

Don't you just hate that one-dimensional skin musk?

I am so excited about the Osmanthus tea I can't stand it at all.

I return to NYC in November for a Mt.Sinai rotation, just in time for the new Hermessence. I CAN'T WAIT. While I do like Vetiver Tonka, it's not full-bottle worthy for me. And I appreciate the other Hermessences, but none were quite my cup of tea. This osmanthus, however, sounds fantastic. I'm hoping that it is an utter delight on my skin…it's been a long time since I went nuts over a fragrance which is reasonably easy to obtain (as opposed to the SL exclusives).

R, did you mention a 'discovery set'? What is this concept, and more importantly, how do I get hold of it? :-D I am SO dying to sniff Ambre Narguile, I'm on the point of ordering a decant, but if there's a way to try all the Hermessences, I'd rather do that! BTW, would anyone know where the Hermessences can be bought in the UK?

Not available in the discovery set??? What do you mean not available in the discovery set???

    Isn't a bottle fairly expensive, R?

Well there goes my plans to buy this unsniffed…Oh, woe is me!!

L, It does sound fantastic. I am probably more excited about this one than any other release this year, except maybe the upcoming FM Carnal Flower. Hope it lives up to my expectations!

N, the discovery set is a box of four 1/2 oz bottles. You can buy it with one of each of the current Hermessences, or all 1 scent (no mix n match). It is around $120 USD.

Isn't there a Hermes boutique in London? I am sure they would have it. So far, it is only at Hermes boutiques, no department stores, and I would imagine that it will stay that way.

No, no, R, all I meant was that I don't know if they'll have it in a discovery set the day it is released, and I don't think I can wait! And I have no idea what the plan is: will they reconfigure the discovery sets to 5 bottles, for instance, or something else…

R, please keep me posted if you find out any more details.

I think a bottle is fairly expensive. Perhaps the best thing for me to do is to order and pay for samples, then wait to see what will happen with the discovery sets.

    Hugs! Have a great weekend.

I was hoping this was already out in Paris, but it wasn't. I'm really eager to try it, too!
