Friday scent of the day 3/27

Posted by Robin on 27 March 2026 159 Comments

It's the last Friday in March. Also, International Whisk(e)y Day and World Theatre Day. Birthdays: Edward Steichen, Ben Webster and Sarah Vaughan. Our community project for today:  wear a fragrance with a mimosa or cassie note, if you have one. Thanks go to Laila for the suggestion!

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

So I went looking (again) for some Lush Furze, and had no joy, but this time I did come across another mimosa fragrance I'd been looking for: Maria Candida Gentile Hanbury.

Reminder: on 4/3, celebrate anything you like about April (April Fool's Day? the Pink Moon? Easter? Poetry Month or Earth Month? anything you can think of) with your fragrance.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Ideally wearing vintage Amarige to be CP compliant but since I couldn’t find my bottle in the basement I grabbed Mona diOrio Santal Nabataea and am pairing it with Prince of Tea Pu-erh Tea, which by the way, qualifies as a fermented food (my doctor expects three servings per day in my diet)

I think I will do my own community project next week of Tea and Perfume pairings similar to this:

    https://cafleurebon.com/sonoma-scent-studio-perfumes-and-tea-pairings-tea-and-sympathy-draw/

( I won’t even suggest it as a CP as I am sure we have already done it LOL)

    Happy Friday y’all!

I am wrong…we did do several wear a tea note (2015, 2016 and 2022 for Iced Tea Day) but we have yet to do wear a perfume and match it with a tea. Might be fun as many of us are tea drinkers and those that are not could just wear a perfume with a tea note.

I usually only drink tea when I am at a diner (3-4x every 2 months) or at a Chinese restaurant … actually, I drink it more often than I originally thought but pretty much only when I am eating out. Never mind. Good idea for a CP!

So, is pu-erh tea in general a fermented food, or just the one you mentioned? I am blessed with an innate love of fermented foods. I really like the Sunja’s Kitchen medium spicy kimchi.

All Pu-erh is!!! I am learning to love kimchi and also eating fermented beets, sauerkraut and kefir. Apple cider vinegar is also considered fermented. Like you I still adore those Ritter bars but they are off the table for me.

Quite sure I don’t have anything that’s CP-compliant but no matter: I was in the mood for licorice and am feeling subtle in Hermès Brin de Reglisse, by far my favourite of the Hermessences.

    Hello and tgif!
CP sotd is D&G Velvet Mimosa Bloom. Very pretty yellow floral spring scent.
It’s time to colour my hair again. Those roots are getting obvious. I usually do it myself at home but I am feeling lazy and am tempted to visit the salon…

MDCI Un Coeur en Mai, thanks to the generosity of a Danish Instagram friend.

This is a spring floral bouquet, and I cannot say that I can distinguish mimosa, though it is listed in the notes and mentioned in descriptions. A lovely scent, even though I agree with reviewers that it is not especially edgy or striking. It is essentially a blend of many beautiful flowers, masterfully composed, with a slight retro feel.

Not being in the mood for Cuir Pleine Fleur, which was going to be my CP choice, I went hunting in Mt. Sample and found L’Artisan Mimosa Pour Moi. On me it’s mostly powder with a honey-ish patina — nice, but not really my thing. And on a honey-related note, my beekeeper niece told me last night that she lost a good portion of her hive to heat yesterday. She was lucky enough to save some of the bees, and is now waiting for a new queen to emerge. It’s kind of fascinating to hear how beekeeping works.

I was planning on SSS Bee’s Bliss for the mimosa note today but I’m just not feeling it.

Decided on SL Un Bois Vanille because it covers all the bases no matter time, place, or weather. Not to mention it’s been a hot minute since I wore it. I have about 25% left in my bottle and the juice has darkened considerably since purchasing but it’s as good as ever.

Apropos of nothing, I heard from the couple that bought Moby back in 2023 and was delighted to learn they’re both still in good health and continue to travel in him, tweaking him here and there to fit their specific needs. I’m so happy about that, which I known is crazy, but they’re quite elderly now, and still out there living large! Such nice folks. Never was a seller so happy with the buyer. 🚐

    Happy Friday, everyone!
This morning, I’m in Prada’s Infusion de Mimosa, and this afternoon I’ll switch to Une Fleur de Cassie to continue my compliance all day and evening.

Okay, fellow pizza lovers – yesterday I made my first batch of homemade pizza dough, and it’s proofing in the fridge. Tonight I’ll use half of it with my brand spanking new pizza steel, and let the other half proof another 24 hours.

    I’m following this recipe: https://homecookingcollective.com/robertas-pizza-dough/
Another first: I used my new digital kitchen scale for extra precision.
(I’m also making their recommended pizza tomato sauce recipe.) I’ve got the fresh basil, but have to run to Whole Foods for some high quality mozzarella.

I do enjoy cooking, and I’ve perfected some staples over the years, but I will say that following a new recipe always makes me a little nervous. I lack the confidence of a seasoned chef, which means it’s best that I not socialize during inaugural attempts such as this one – I need to focus on the task at hand. (When things don’t go well, I get flustered and cranky, so it’ll just be me in the kitchen.😊)

I’ll have an update tomorrow, be it good, bad, or ugly. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for your kind words and good wishes for Kito kitty. I will get the results of culture tests done yesterday next week. He has developed a high fever, so he is now on antibiotics and a pain killer. I don’t understand how his health changed so drastic in a matter of hours. He went for regular pre-surgery testing and ended up with a posible severe kidney or uti infection. I hope he recovers fully.

On my third cup of coffee and counting the hours for the working day to be over.
    Happy and healthy Friday! 🌻

Oh, poor Kito Kitty. How stressful for him and for you. Wishing him a quick recovery. Our late ancient of days (she lived to 22) cat developed the kind of infection you describe in one of her later years and we were able to knock it out with injections of a less commonly used antibiotic.

Poor kitty! This is exactly what happened to T-Rex and I had to take her to the emergency vet in the middle of the night. I know cats have much more sensitive urinary tract than dogs, and it’s a common problem with felines. I hope it’s just a simple UTI that can be resolved with ABT and pain meds. T-Rex is still on a whole pharmaceutical regimen. (Total of FIVE different meds…💸💸💸💸) ❤️🐱

I am sorry to hear about T-Rex. I hope she is feeling much better now.

I also hope is just a simple UTI what is affecting Kito. What concerns me the most is the high fever. He is still eating, but not drinking much water. The pain med is making him very sleepy, so he barely moves around. Crossing fingers there are no complications during the weekend and I don’t need to rush him to the emergency room.

Water intake is very important. They had to give doggo a liter sub-q. If he’s not drinking or moving about I’d be very concerned. Maybe call your regular vet and tell them he’s not doing well before they close? I’m so sorry, it’s so terrible to see your baby suffering…

Urine culture take about 72 hours for humans, maybe longer in the veterinary world since most don’t have in house labs and need to be sent out. But, like people, it’s important to get them started on a broad spectrum ABT right away. When the culture results with the sensitivities, the ABT can be changed if the particular bacteria is not sensitive to the broad spectrum ABT. Sepsis kills quickly, especially in the young, elderly, and immunocompromised (both people and animals). Luckily for my doggo, the broad spectrum ABT she was started on is effective against e.coli, which is what her culture grew. I now call her the E. Coli Queen. More than you ever wanted to know, but sepsis kills so many and aggressive treatment is needed.

Cats are masters of hiding injury and illness. Kito could have been feeling poorly before his sudden downturn. Glad that he is on antibiotics now.

I had to do sub-Q fluids with my Jinx kitty. It can require more than 2 hands, depending on how squirmy the cat in question is. Or how afraid of needles the person involved is.

I am CP compliant with Amarige Harvest Mimosa 2009. I got it some years ago in a swap here on NST and I love it. Yesterday’s light fixture replacement went smoothly; practice makes perfect I suppose.

I’m wearing JM Mimosa and Cardamon and drinking a cup of coffee in bed. We’re still on summer time so the mornings are quite dark at the moment as sunrise is around 8am. It must change back soon but at least it makes it easy to see the stars on clear pre-dawn mornings.

Deva, they are very different to my nose.

Diorama is Dior DNA and has a wonderful ambery, warm spice to the vanilla.
PdE Balme seems cooler and balmier, not like any other vanilla I have and is going to be good for all year wear, more so than the Diorama.

Out of all the outrageous price increases I have seen over this last year and more, Dior Prive seems to still be affordable for a small bottle that I will use. Same for PdE pricing.

        Hope this helps!

SOTD = Ex Nihilo Sweet Morphine

Wonderful. I haven’t worn this in quite a few months (eh, actually a few years). On theme!

Here’s what I wanted to post yesterday before something ate my comment: it normally would be a gift article but almost 99.9% of the Wirecutter articles don’t allow this.

Dust happens — here’s how to keep it at bay:

    1. Cut down on items in your home that hold on to dust and allergens.

    2. Frequently wash your bedding and linens. Wash bedsheets once a week and changing towels every three days or so. (I’m 100% OK on the towels but need to be more conscientious about the bedding 😱.)

    3. Dust regularly. Damp-dusting and open windows while cleaning. Also run your HVAC system for a few hours after cleaning to suck stirred-up dust into the filtration system.

    4. Vacuum regularly to help reduce the amount of dust in your home.

5, Run an air purifier to cut down on dust buildup. An air purifier can also help reduce the allergic reactions that dust triggers by filtering airborne allergens, mold spores, pollen, bacteria, and smoke from the air.

Prior to this cp, I never dreamed that so many fragrances contained a mimosa note, something I rarely heard of. And that includes my SOTD Guerlain Champs Elysees edp, a soft, powdery, very lovely floral perfect for Spring. It includes many, many scent notes, including mimosa. Perhaps because I’ve rarely worn this fragrance, or maybe I just don’t remember, but the note I smell the most is lilac, which I love. I usually wear lilac scents in May when my lilacs are ready to bloom and will certain wear Champs Elysees again.

As someone who rarely wears floral scents, I was introduced to this scent because a coworker wore it and smelled so good that I asked her what it was. I don’t remember where or when I purchased it but I did remember, just this morning, that on my one and only trip to France, I visited the Guerlain store on the Champs Elysees in Paris but I don’t think I purchased it then.

Happy Spring (or Happy Autumn) to all! Everything’s getting ready to burst into bloom here, and yesterday some daffodils surprised me with their presence and now grace my breakfast room table.💛

I’m claiming two points today – one for Lush’s Mimosa body wash this morning, and and another for Dame’s Mimosa soliflore this afternoon. His soliflore is lovely.

Today’s tea is Clipper Ship’s caramel oolong. I had expected it to be caramel scented, but wasn’t expecting the caramel flavor to be as discernable as is it. I am pleasantly surprised. It can even take a splash of milk.

A few months ago, my mom got me a Favorite Daughter sweatshirt for my birthday (at my request). I have been LOVING wearing it when I see my sister because she gets huffy about it. Is there anything more than pushing your siblings buttons to get a reaction?! 😂 But we are celebrating my sister’s birthday tomorrow and I have a feeling my mom will be giving her the same gift. So my ability to claim favorite daughter status is coming to an end, sigh.

It did not appear! Major plot twist! My sister opened her gift from my parents — it was not a sweatshirt — and then asked if she was getting one. My mom said they were sold out. Then my dad, who loves to stir the pot, said “why would we get you one? Vee is our favorite daughter.” (Not true, but very much something he would say to push buttons). Meanwhile I’m doing a little dance in my sweatshirt 😂 Ooh, sis was annoyed. 😂😂

It’s chilly here today! I had to turn off the A/C early this morning, and turn the heat ON a couple hours later. I think it got up to 50 degrees F this afternoon? 🥶🥶

Supposed to be 80 degrees here tomorrow. Mother Nature, go home! 🥵🥵

My Korres Coffee Beans Elasti-Smooth Body Butter mini arrived yesterday. It smells like a sweet vanilla cappuccino or latte. Rather nice, IMO. But if you are looking for a black coffee lotion, this ain’t it. I know a couple of people here had asked for info. Probably would pair nicely with YSL Black Opium and its flankers.

SOTD = Hermes Kelly Caleche EdP, from The Sample Stash. Many thanks to the NSTer who mentioned it has mimosa earlier this week. It’s perfect for today’s weather and has been on my FB wish list for a while.

I am so sorry about your pup! Our kitten had a weird nose rash *gross description follows* (on the pink part and up and around the side folds-very crusty but he never seemed bothered by it) but two antibiotic shots, about two weeks apart, did clear it up. The first shot had only a little effect, but the second shot gave rapid improvement and then healing and he’s been find ever since. I hope you will find a simple solution! In Poeme, you are smelling great!

For the CP, Kelly Caleche edt. I cannot pick out mimosa; I followed the lead of some other NST’ers this week, and had verified the presence of mimosa in my collection with Fragrantica. KC was a lucky Ebay find; a blind buy that I was impressed with upon first spray. I’ve mentioned before that Hermes and I got off to a bad start as the Jardins did nothing for me. I really tried, too. But then I got Jour d’Hermes, and Elixir des Merveilles and things looked up for our relationship! I find Kelly Caleche a very easy reach.
