It's Tuesday and International Museum Day. (PSA: the splitmeet is coming up on Saturday.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Eau de Néroli Doré (again). Tea at the moment is a nice latte from the local coffee shop.
Reminder: 5/21 is World Meditation Day. Wear whatever you think fits the theme.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Botra teapot ("Enjoy a fresh hot cup of tea with the Botra Teapot. This stoneware set was made and designed in Vietnam, featuring a smooth white interior to contrast its matte surface.") is available in small ($40) or large ($80) at EQ3.
I’m in YSL Nu edp, the one in the metal hockey puck. I can never decide which I like better, Nu or Black Orchid: they obviously have the same DNA (without a doubt Tom Ford took the idea of Nu with him when he left Gucci/YSL and used it for his first solo scent), but Nu is (relatively) bright and cheery while Black Orchid is dark and dangerous. I guess it depends on my mood. Today is a Nu day, for sure.
I haven’t worn Nu in ages and I have a hockey puck bottle. I think I’ll join you today.
I love Nu EDP a lot, so I think you smell great. Sadly, I had a small backup bottle on its way to me, but it appears to have been misdelivered elsewhere. I’m keeping my eye out for another deal on a backup bottle.
I hope that bottle somehow makes it’s way back to you!
Wearing Diptyque Eau de Minthe. Sample thunked!
Gorgeous warm, sunny day in the 70’s with a very refreshing wind.
Having my second cup of coffee with rose water and a dash of saffron. Also a couple of Turkish pistachio butter flour cookies.
Happy Tuesday! ?
Have found to my surprise that I rather like minty perfumes – nice for the summer.
Second that – If I read mint in the notes – I am sold without having to think twice.
I love minty perfumes, especially during warm/hot days. I have been reaching for Dame Minty Man a lot lately, but my big favorite is Guerlain AA Herba Fresca. That is a must have in my collection.
Oh yes Herba Fresca is an absolute must in this category. That reminds me I also need a bottle of it. I can already smell HF in my head as we speak… Beautiful Aqua Allegoria.
Herba Fresca is gorgeous! It’s the inly scent I wore 1998-2003.
Everything from Your choice of fragrance, the way Yoy drink Your coffee and the cookies You devour – all of it sounds delicious!!
Why, thank you!
I love mint in a fragrance, Un Air de Samsara by Guerlain is a favorite!
Your coffee sounds marvelous!
Thank you!
I have never tried Un Air de Samsara, but I will eventually do.
And I am just settling in for an afternoon cup of tea…pass those cookies!
Passing you some! ?
Sample thunk twins!
Yay!
I’m working toward CP points in Passage d’Enfer.
Yep.
Dame Perfumery Earth Mother and a cup of Fujian Autumn Oolong tea
My cup at the moment: Upton Cacao Kisses organic colombian.
Oops, just remembered this is the colombian that is NOT organic.
I’ll bet it was delicious !
Tested Clinique Happy in Bloom last night and this morning. It’s nice enough but not my thing. Since it’s going to be on the hot side this week, I am wearing ISM.
Going to get hot here tomorrow!
I wore regular Happy for a minute, it’s nice but not ‘me’. I’d like to try some of the newly-released flankers though.
Well I forgot perfume this morning so I will have to go through the samples in my desk. I did make a pot of a special tea from Portland’s Smith tea. Here is the description
“Our most sought after breakfast tea aged 18 months in a wet Westward Whiskey barrel. With intoxicating hints of dry Irish stout, lingonberry jam, and dulce de leche, let’s raise a cup of good cheer.
TASTING NOTES:
Irish stout, lingonberry jam, and dulce de leche”
Reminds me of some perfume “notes” in a way
It does! “Why let wine-tasters have all the fun?” said the folks at Smith.
I have gone to a fancy tea tasting in Berkeley, Ca and remarked to my friends it was more lingo than wine!
That tea sounds marvelous!
I liked it a fair amount, although it is pricey. I love Mariage Freres teas and for the price might go with them instead. But pretty good. I shared it with a friend who likes tea and is really into whiskey and he liked it too.
2nd that!
ShellyW, that tea is making my lemming put a kettle on to boil…..
love it!
Oh, and lemming got online and order some whist waiting :O 🙂
WOW.. I love tea and whiskey. That sounds heavenly.
Wearing Cristalle this morning and will probably have some Harney’s Vanilla Comoro this evening, being a coffee am/tea pm imbiber.
I’m with you on the am coffee/pm tea imbibing, although tea is not a daily habit for me. But it lets me sleep, when I choose to have some, whereas I will lay awake until all hours, if I make the mistake of having afternoon coffee. I like the ritual of a warm beverage and taking a moment to pause in the afternoon.
You smell lovely today. Cristalle is so light on me, but it really sings when I’m out walking on a warm day.
Twins with you in Cristalle! We smell great!
Nice pick for SOTD!
I’m in Ashoka today. Every time I wear it I cannot get over the fact how gorgeously done Ashoka is. Nothing can compare to this complex, multifaceted perfume. Yesterday I enjoyed Lavender Extreme – I love anything lavender for everything soap, linen mist, candles and as much as I enjoy it, perfumewise nothing beats my Ashoka. This is why I need to “invest” my perfume spendings on something I really, really enjoy most when wearing a perfume. I need to try all Neela’s offerings because she is a master perfume house. I mean beats any other perfume house as far as my taste goes.
I just read the notes in Ashoka, wow sounds great.
Honestly as great as it sounds, it really does smell great!! Anyone smelling Ashoka for the first time – You will never smell anything like it.
I love Ashoka, and it’s right on for this CP. I find it very calming. As you know, you smell wonderful!
Yes, You are right it does sound like a good one for the CP. Contrasts yet so balanced it is just pure harmony…
majokkobiachan, have you ever tried Bulgari Eau Parfumée au thé bleu? I find it a lovely and unusual take on lavender.
I’m not a lavender lover, and I’d be interested to hear your take, as a lavender connoisseur!
Awww a lavender connoisseur!! I feel like I’ve received a nice compliment:)
Oh no I have not yet, but now I will, thank You!!
I wore Ashoka last week and finally fell in love with it. I’ve had my decant for years, and it always felt like too much sandalwood and not enough fig. The decant had evaporated some and I had set it out on a shelf so I could work on finishing it before it evaporated more. Well, I don’t know if it’s my nose, tastes, or aging of the perfume that’s changed, but I now think I’ll need more when my decant is gone.
You know some people had said they definitely smell coconut in it even though it’s not present in the notes. Well, I can see why that might be – it has creamy facets, I think both the fig and sandalwood – but I do not smell just “coconut” in it. I hope You enjoy the rest of Your decant!!
You smell great, Trayee is also v. good.
Today’s scent will be The Gambler. Because sometimes you just got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em, know when to walk awayyy, and know when to ruuuuunn. (yikes, apologies for the earworm, folks).
So I start a new second job on Friday. I’m a little nervous, but I don’t know why; the people there seem nice and it’s only a couple days a week and the job’s not exactly difficult. Maybe because I’ve had my little routine for the past 10 months or so after quarantine and it’ll be changed up. I think I will be fine though. I just have to get myself together.
New jobs are always stressful. Every time I started one, I came home the first day with a splitting headache and achy inner thighs from keeping my knees together (this was in the days when women wore skirts, of course). You’ll do great!
Thanks, Sheri. 🙂
Good luck! You will be fine!
Goodness. How many hours a week do you work? Good luck with the new job, though!
Best of luck w/ the new job. Change is stressful but you will do great!
Good luck on Friday GateGirl!
Best wishes for the new job, two seem like a lot.
I love that song, so thanks for the earworm!
The new job sounds great. But don’t beat yourself up about being anxious about it – 10 months of a routine in a time of global pandemic is a serious ritual, and changing it will not be trivial.
Thanks for the well-wishes, all.
Good luck with the new job! Change isn’t easy, wishing you peace and comfort on Friday! 🙂
Volutes EDP for a cool foggy morning back to work.
Went to Florida for first visit with my sister since the beginning of Covid.
We had just the best time together. It was the first time I had eaten outside my house in 15 months.
The airports are jam packed as are the shuttles to parking. there is no one foot distance from anyone else.
Glad you had a good time with your sister. The jam packed comment and not even a foot social distancing is what is preventing me from traveling. I know people are starved for traveling but it just all feels too much and too soon – just my opinion.
Same here. My parents kept asking if I was going to visit them before they returned from their winter digs, and I had to keep explaining about airports and airplanes and my disinclination to bring them germs in addition to myself. They are driving back home in a few days, so I’ll be able to see them in safety soon enough.
Yes, I am vaccinated, I double masked and sat in first class. Delta did a good job. It reminded me of when we would head out of Saudi Arabia for some R and R and land in Bangkok. We would be on sensory overload for a while.
I feel like it’s going to be hard for me to take a plane for a vacation until immunization rates are a bit higher and community transmission rates are below 5/100,000 everywhere. That may be over-cautious, but I’m old, and one of my guiding principles over the last year has been not to do anything non-essential. I completely understand others taking the vanishingly small remaining risk.
That said, at SOME point I’m going to go all-out hog wild and take a long-haul flight to Japan or something like that. Or at least a train to NYC. ?
I’m with you on this one, nozknoz. I’m fine with sitting back for a while, and waiting until the risks become even less than vanishingly small. 🙂
Glad you had fun in Florida! Did you get the chance to have Cuban food?
no we did not ST.
We are both vegetarians. When I was young around 1960 my parents took us to the original Columbia in Tampa. A great memory.
Yay for seeing sisters! Glad you guys had a good time.
Hooray for sister visits: my sister and I also always have “just the best time together” 😀 !
Welcome back! Glad that you and your sister had a wonderful time.
I’m so happy to hear that you got to see your sister!!! Hooray!
Congrats on seeing your sister! I’ll be seeing my two sisters in a little over a week and I can’t wait.
Scents of the week are: dirt, weeds, mulch, and sweat. Yard work! Yesterday I met my neighbor’s new ‘pup’ — 11 month old rescue, yellow lab, 72 pounds of muscle! She’s a handful!
I surprised a rattlesnake in my garden EEEEEEEK! Actually I think I was much more surprised than the snake. I’m glad it was chilly out though, the snake didn’t move much, just flicked its tongue at me. As you might guess, I worked on the other side of the house the rest of the day.
Aaaccckkk – tongue-flicking rattlesnakes are no bueno even if they don’t move a single scale!
I would love to hear a rattler — from a completely safe vantage point!
I can’t recall the name, but one of the most dangerous snakes in Africa is a large, fat, well-camouflaged viper. People often step on it because, unlike most snakes, it is too lazy to slither away when it senses nearby footfalls.
They’re called puff adders.
Yes, that’s it! Funny looking snakes, but deadly.
Now that Amytis has identified them as puff adders, I can say they are interesting to read about:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puff_adder
In Mozambique, I was once out hiking and saw two black mambas do one of those neck dances. I now believe the caduceus originated not merely as an imaginative decorative symbol but rather as a stylized depiction of this dance — an advertisement of skill in treating snake bites.
I don’t think that I would be able to weed knowing there’s a poisonous snake in my garden. Honestly!
I think I’d just have to move out of my house!
That was what I was thinking. I wanted to move out of my house the 2nd time we had a bat inside.
We had a bat flying around and around in our office building’s atrium today!! A lady from another business in the building and I held the two street doors open, and it only took Mr. Bat one circuit for his sonar to tell him there was an outlet! I thought it was amazing as he swooped passed me to freedom! No one could guess how he (she?) got in. I think it was the big brown bat, which is common in our area.
Wow, that’s amazing…I would spend the rest of my career in that building wondering how it got in.
I am glad nothing serious happened.
Me too 🙂
How scary and exotic it sounds to someone in the UK.
Yi yi yi yi yi and NOPE! I’d rather come across a scorpion than a snake, especially a rattler! ?
I found a partial shed black snake skin in my yard yesterday. We are in the Brood X (ten) cicada epicenter and insect-eating critters are ramping up!
Have your cicadas emerged yet? Ours are due any day now.
I’ve only seen one or two adults…no songs yet.
Neighbors have been seeing some, too. They. Are. Coming….
Hi everyone, watched the special on Halston, my SOTD is Halston Couture, a frequently worn favorite from back in the day.
Very slow waking up, but I’ve gotta get the sneakers on and head to the gym! Arm day, biceps/triceps.
IS this the Netflix one?
Yes, it’s the one with Ewan McGregor. 🙂
Swoon. Lurve me some Ewan. Shallow Grave was when we first met.
😀 Yes, he has that very cute dimple on his chin…
Testing the waters for a split… I can’t participate in the splitmeet this weekend since we will be Socializing! With Humans! In Person! Whoa. First time in over a year.
But I was thinking of offering Shalimar Philtre de Parfum, $12 for 5ml or $20 for 10ml. US only. Is there any interest?
Yes – Count me in!
Don’t forget it will be open at least a week! You can post it on Monday. Or post on Saturday and say you’re busy and won’t get back to people until Monday.
Ah, good idea! I will post it late then.
Count me in!
Hooray for the humans!
I’m interested in the split! Already have a decant, but I think I might need another. 😀
Commando but kinda wanting a gourmand..maybe cotton candy body spray lol.
I am sending an enabler package to a friend who likes scent but hasn’t tried too many. So..samples my friend shall get lol. I asked if I could send..and said yep, would like them. So..curious which ones will be favorites. Maybe even a rabbit hole or two haha. Who knows. But my friend will smell nice, this I do know lol.
Ooh, I hope your friend calls/texts you when they try the new samples so you can discuss notes! My one sometimes-a-perfumista friend does that when I send her samples and it’s so much fun.
Lol me too..I like sending samples..it’s kind of for them but really more for me to talk perfume LOL.
It is so interesting to find out what scents friends like! And you get bonus enabler points for this level of effort. ?
Thank you! LOL
What a nice idea! But my fried is still mad at me for doing that – she fell in love with the sample of En Passant that I sent, and it’s become an expensive habit for her!
Oops:)
I’m testing Hiram Green Lustre today. I think it’s tied with Arbole for my favorite from the discovery set. It’s sharpness reminds me of L’ombre dans l’eau, but I find it somehow prettier and easier to wear. The lasting power on skin is my only criticism. I guess I’ll have to carry my samples around!
I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday!
You are making me want to try Lustre again…I do love L’Ombre.
I’m rocking some Peng Lai (Berdoues) today 🙂
I was just wondering why they haven’t done another in that series! Or they have and I missed it. Meanwhile I should pull out my elephants.
House siblings ☺️ I’m in Somei Yoshino today.
I’m in Eva again, and realizing that I was totally wrong when I thought I might not love this enough to justify a FB — it’s a multi-season wonder and I will likely be very boringly consistent with my SOTD for quite some time.
I am green with envy!!
Nothing wrong at all with a bit of perfume monogamy! ?
Perfume monogamy LOL. I used to be..I can try again..but sometimes a woman likes variety lol
True! But like Omega says, variety is important. I used to be a serial monogamist, perfume-wise … but then the rabbit hole got me. ?
It looks amazing. Waft some over here please!
Flapping my arms in your general direction – LOL!
Today dawned as a “Who you gonna call?” day, and the answer to that question is always “No. 19!” Off I go into the woods, smelling green and fierce and capable.
I love that description! Green, fierce and capable is better than most of the ad copy that has been produced recently!
For me, the answer is always Jenny. At 6578309.
Ciao !
Love extreme, again
Breaking out the espadrilles for the hot ? weather today
Feeling not so great today, maybe seasonal allergies but my head is so foggy and I had a bit of vertigo.
Ugh, vertigo is no fun! I keep dramamine in my bedside table, because about once a year or so, I wake up so vertiginous I wouldn’t be able to safely get to the bathroom to get it!
I try massaging my pressure points but this time I was holding onto the kitchen sink for dear life
Ugh, I hope you feel better soon! Vertigo isn’t fun….
Sorry to hear about the vertigo, it’s so unbearably awful! There are many youtube videos with vertigo cures, how to re-balance your inner ear fluid. Might be worth a try, if that’s what’s causing your vertigo.
Blech! Vertigo sucks, hardcore.
Oh, vertigo is the worst! I’ve dealt with it off and on over the years and daily allergy meds seem to be keeping it at bay. I hope you feel better soon (and I’ll bet your feet are looking awesome in your espadrilles!)
SOTD: Paris-Venise by Chanel.. enjoying this for a spring/summer light floral with some vanilla. Nice!
Haven’t been here for too long. Life is crazy busy.
Wore Eau de Rochas (body lotion and EDT) today and it hummed along all day. Really very classy.
Off topic, whoever recommended Mossad 101 on NST: Thank you! We’ve watched both seasons and then three seasons of Fauda. Really very good. We’ve also been watching French films and series on Netflix: lots of period dramas. Have a good week, folks!
I am watching a French series Call my Agent.
That’s a fun one!
My sister has been recommending Fauda for awhile now, I really should queue it up!
You smell very summery.
Sampling Kayali Vanilla 28 today…good vanilla w/ flowers, musk and amber…reminds me of the Missions and SDV. I ordered a spray coffret from their website yesterday as they had 25% off (no affiliation). I am always down for small sizes (especially sprays!) and trying new stuff. I really wish Luckyscent would do their samples w/ sprays. Le sigh.
Wow, that’s a nice comparison. I didn’t pay attention to this release but I will have to give it a try.
I used to buy 2 sets of the samples when they were doing those sample sets but I stopped doing that (buying samples from LuckyScent) when I realized my hit rate was close to zero ??♀️
It’s been a minute since I’ve commented even though I’m still reading the SOTD posts, usually a day or two behind. I really don’t know why since I’m not particularly busy right now, but here I am again. ?
Since it’s cooler today with a high in the upper 50s, I’m wearing Aramis Calligraphy Rose. I’m not a huge rose perfume fan, but this one is gorgeous – jammy rose with resins, incense, and amber.
I have still participated in CPs even though I haven’t commented. Last week I enjoyed listening to Stevie Wonder and wore Mandarine Basilic on Friday to match the fun, happy feeling most of his songs provide.
Anyone who owns a Frassai bottle – how easy are they to spray? I’m thinking of hosting a split for Blondine, but I want to make sure I won’t hate decanting it.
Love Calligraphy Rose, it’s so wonderful for a cooler day!
Yes, it was perfect today!
Chiming in to say that you smell gorgeous! Calligraphy Rose is one of my favorites, and, like you, I’m not even that much of a rose lover when it comes to perfume. Calligraphy Saffron is my favorite of the bunch, though.
Thank you! I’ve never tried Calligraphy Saffron. I’ve almost blind bought a bottle a couple times, but ultimately 100ml is way more than I need. if you’re ever interested in swapping away a decant, I’ve got lots of swap options.
Smelling gorgeous in Calligraphy Rose! ?
Thanks!
Ooo — I *am* a rose lover and that sounds like a beauty!
You should let me send you a decant. I have a 100ml bottle that I’ll never get through. I also have some other rose perfumes that need a new home. I was going to make a freebie post soon, but I’d love to send them to you. Send me an email at my NST username at gmail. ?
I can still smell the remnants of Salome on my over-shirt cuffs this morning, so I put on some Chanel Gardenia parfum hoping to make a dirty flower. It’s working surprisingly well.
I can’t decide if I should continue moving the woodpile this morning, go to Ikea to look at cabinets, or make a run to Costco, so while I decide I will sit in the recliner 😉
Sitting in the recliner is an excellent choice!
Foxbins, your planning goes about the same as my planning 🙂
But I can promise you I would end up at Ikea, given the choice.
I ended up going to Costco, having neither a woodpile nor an Ikea. 🙂
Wearing Portrait of a Lady for the first time (from a sample) and oh, wow! It really is as beautiful as people say!
Drinking Fortnum & Mason Queen Anne tea. I need a job that sends me to London a few times a year so that I can keep a steady supply of loose leaf from the F&M’s bulk tea counter. 🙂
The tea counter is really great, I would like to visit again, when flying is possible again for me.
PoaL isn’t for me, but I do love how maximalist it is! Big, bold, and unapologetic.
POAL is one of my most enjoyed of the FM perfumes that I have tried so far.
I actually broke my long no-buy streak yesterday for a small bottle of POAL. It’s a bit aspirational for me, in that whenever I wear it I wonder, “Is my hair too messy? Do I have grass seeds stuck in my socks? Is anyone judging the inside of my car?” But, it’s good to have something to aspire to!
Same as therabbitsflower, I haven’t commented in a few days but I’ve been reading along. I enjoyed the haikus over the weekend!
I think I’ve been having some anxiety about upcoming social gatherings. A group of girlfriends wants to have dinner out, and I’m just feeling mentally unready. Many things about the dinner is bothering me: the late meeting time, the distance, the size of the group. I really want to not go, but I have no good excuse. And I’m getting mad at myself for making such a big deal out of this. It’s a few hours of your life, you’ll survive! Anyone else feeling like they’ve gotten much more introverted in the past year?
I wore Dancing Roses this morning but just scrubbed it off because I don’t really care too much for the drydown. I might go spritz on some Lost Cherry now for more cherry!
There is nothing wrong in feeling anxious; this year has been VERY traumatizing, and many of us are suffering through low grade PTSD. Give yourself time and grace.
If you feel uncomfortable, DON’T GO. If anything about this year has a silver lining, it’s realizing that I have to respect boundaries for my self and others. Please do that for yourself.
I am in the same boat with you regarding anxiety. Going back to normal is not going to be an easy task for me. I am and still will be wearing a mask, despite the new guidance. And that also creates anxiety, considering most people here are not wearing a mask anymore. We will survive!
You have several good reasons not to go:
-you feel mentally unready
-the meeting time is too late
-the meeting place is too far away
-the size of the group is too big/small
-you really want to not go
Each, alone, would be a good reason not to go. It’s OK not to be ready yet. And it is OK if “yet” is a far way off.
Nodding in agreement with everyone above and sending you self-compassionate (distanced) hugs! Listen to yourself and your needs. Nothing necessary comes from “tearing off the band-aide” in this case. It’s ok to dip your toe in rather than dive into the deep end (to totally mix my metaphors!).
What everyone said…only do the things you’re comfortable doing.
If you aren’t ready for that sort of social event, don’t go. You wouldn’t be happy or have a good time if you did.
The fact that you don’t want to go is a good enough reason not to.
Agree w/ what others have said. It’s ok to ease back into events and not go if you’re not ready. I am an introvert and getting back into social events makes me anxious. Might help to do something small w/ a close friend or two and then progress up…that is my plan whenever I choose to embark on it.?We did have one vaccinated friend of Mr. She-ra’s over for dinner in the backyard over the weekend where we all consumed entirely too much Thai food 😉 but I don’t think I’m ready to go out w/ larger groups to venues yet.
Hugs to you. That’s hard. But you don’t have to go, and if you’re uncomfortable about the very idea, then wait until another time.
I might suggest honestly communicating with your friends and telling them you’re not comfortable yet. If they’re good friends, they’ll want to know where you are mentally.
Adding my voice to the chorus — I hope you can feel comfortable respecting your instincts and easing back into social contacts in a way that works for you, without any guilt or sense that you need to ‘keep up’ with others. I’m feeling very wary myself, but am taking baby steps as they feel appropriate and *those* moments are turning out to be very sweet and reassuring. But only because I’m not rushing myself! Your excuses all sound perfectly valid and your friends should understand.
Wow, thank you all for chiming in, and making me feel like I’m not being a big baby about this! It’s very hard not to feel like something’s wrong with me when no one else in the group has any hesitation and they’re all raring to go.
Thank you for reminding me that my feelings are valid and that it’s ok that I’m not comfortable with going. I’ll have to think about what I’ll say or do, it’s a biggish group and I’m not very close to everyone, only a couple of them.
Happy Tuesday all!
1) Lovely cloudy day with a high of 62F. I am wearing Bohemian Bluebells.
2) My kitchen set arrived! I have to triple check the shopping list along with the manifest, but I think I got everything from IKEA. I also ordered a sink off eBay, a faucet from FB Marketplace (!) and knobs/pulls from The Bezos SuperYacht- the savings all together was $300 doing it this way.
A similar configuration of the IKEA kitchen from Home Depot was $12000; from IKEA it was $4300.
Now, the fun begins! 🙂
Oh, I’ll be so interested to follow this project! I want to put in IKEA cupboards, a utility sink and a counter in the basement laundry, so we have a proper laundry space. I don’t like the IKEA sinks–I didn’t think of checking ebay! Do let us know how it’s going!
The IKEA sinks are truly meh! But your idea is excellent. There are laundry room set ups at IKEA by the airport, so when things feel more secure and calmer you should go check it out, then play with the room designer.
eBay sells everything- a couple of hipster friends of mine bought HOUSES in Kansas on eBay- and so I decided to check there for sinks. I found what I wanted, at a great price, and I got free shipping to the house as well, so score! The remaining piece is countertop!
Buying a house on ebay. Wow. Just wow. I cannot imagine being that brave! Shipping would have been the thing I assumed would make it an unreasonable price, but you will inspire me to take a look.
I did wander through IKEA after I was fully vaccinated, but the crowds turned me off. Did you use their consulting service? Maybe I’ll schedule an early appointment on like a Tuesday or something and hope for less company.
LOL. Shipping on a sink, not shipping on a house. In case that was unclear. 😀
I did use their measurement service and because I live in Parkrose I was able to go in on a weekday morning, so I avoided the worse of the crowds. Weekends are REALLY crowded there and you may need to wait in an outside line!
Oh yay, how exciting!! (And yes, do triple check…been there!)
How exciting! You mentioned a progress blog — do please let us know about your fragrant kitchen ?
Finally thunked my decant of Untitled. I still have a partial bottle of Untitled L’Eau, so no need to buy it again soon.
Untitled sounds great!!
Nozknoz gave me a wonderful idea of looking up Bvlgari PerfumeeThe Blue… fragrantica says it is powdery first and foremost. I love powdery. I am also a huge tea lover – it is a tea-violet-lavender-iris aromatic fragrance. Need I say more? It is right up my alley. I will try ‘n get a sample somehow and I will definitely post my thoughts once I do.
That Bvlgari is definitely worth a try. It’s a lovely warm/hot weather scent.
Yay, looking forward to your review!
I never did try that one..way overdue.
I’m wearing several spritzes of BDK Gris Charnel, and smelling marvelous. Lots of people get a strong fig note with this, but for me, it is much more a spicy sandalwood.
Thinking about the CP, I think nearly any perfume would work for World Meditation Day – I find spraying on a perfume, closing my eyes and sniffing deeply to be deeply relaxing 🙂
Having said that, I will go with the incense theme today, Guerlain’s Bois d’Armenie.
You smell wonderful! So sad that BdA is discontinued.
Zoologist Bee on one side (thank you, Hajusuuri!) and Jo Malone Golden Vetiver and Vanilla on the other. Settling in to get some work done.
I meant to follow up earlier to see how you’re enjoy IUNX Talc. You inspired me to place an order myself…
I am enjoying it very much. It’s a quiet scent, but elegant and calm. I get a little anosmic to it after awhile, but that’s OK. Just means I can change scents at the end of the day.
I’m glad you’re enjoying it! It is an ethereal fragrance.
I love Iunx Talc!
I got it during the pandemic, and I can’t wait to have a chance to wear it around unmasked friends.
Woo hoo! Zoologist Bee and JM Golden Vanilla sound like a great combination. I will have to try that!
How do you like both? Is there one you prefer? Both sound interesting, but lockdown has kiboshed any trips to smell…
I like both of them. Prefer Bee since it is kind of a warm, sweet, golden skin scent. GV&V has a slight bitterness to it from the vetiver, luckily not too much for my taste.
Sampling JHAG Invisible Musc. It’s…exactly as advertised.
Ha!
And worth every penny, I’m sure!
Finally settled onto a SOTD–Chanel No. 5 edp, current formulation. It’s one of my easy-and-always-good scents.
Nobody can argue with No 5 🙂
We’re having a break in the rainy weather, so I’m checking in before I head to the grocery store. I’m in Norell New York from a NM sample, probably in 2015 or so. It’s a retro green floral and immediately reminded of something my mom would have worn. She might have worn the original release, actually.
Tried Sorriso early in the morning. It’s supposed to be orange plus non sweet dark chocolate. It is that, but it didn’t really move me.
Took the Wild One for a walk also, which she sorely needed after two days of rain. If puppy ain’t happy, then nobody’s happy, I guess! ?
Did you make it back from getting groceries before the rain returned?
No, I had to camp out in the car for a few minutes, but it passed quickly. ?
I think I got that same sample! Was it in a GWP? I really liked it.
No, I think it was handed to me as I entered the store. A 1.5ml vial in a somewhat oversized gold and white box. That would be funny if we have the exact same sample!
Wearing AC Vanille Insensée today, the temperature is still rather cool for May.
My hot weather may be headed your way after a few days time! ?
It’s been a surprisingly eventful Tuesday here. Mr. Jalapeno got his second COVID shot today. Meanwhile, there is a forest fire burning in another part of the county, but it’s not close to me, and I can’t smell any smoke. I’ll take that as a partial win.
SOTD = Scentgrrl Tilting At Windmills Cologne by Soivohle. Thunk goes the sample!
I hope he’s not suffering I’ll effects.
Congrats on the thunk!
Update: I checked up on Mr. Jalapeno a few minutes ago, and he said “I’m starting to feel it now.” We shall see how he feels tomorrow.
Fingers crossed that it’s a very minor set if side effects!!
So far, he has the same sore arm that I had. Feels like it’s been smacked a few times with a baseball bat.
Do you still have soup? ?
Yay for Mr. Jalapeno’s vax! I hope he skates through with minimal after-effects.
Hoping Mr. J symptoms have remained mild.
SOTD = Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka
The bottle from the split 3 years ago (?) lives on, down to the last 8mL or so. I will try to thunk it this year but maybe by next year is more realistic. BUB is waiting in the wings.

In other news, we just got an email stating that we no longer need to wear a mask if we’re vaccinated AND we recorded it in the vaccination tool I mentioned here about a month ago. So I recorded mine but did not upload the card. I have a question that is pending an answer. Also, it is an honor system because I am not carrying anything with me that proves that I had been vaccinated. Therefore, my concern about the mask mandate being dropped and relying on others to do the right thing just ratcheted up several notches. We’re still keeping the social distancing though so there’s that. Also, because I am in a leased building, I will need to follow the landlord’s guidance and I need to gather some intelligence on that. Maybe I just need to learn to live with the virus ???♀️?
Oh, and the tax returns got done yesterday. Wahoo!
By the way, way too hot, way too soon! ?
82 degrees right now. The A/C was turned on yesterday.
Yeah, tomorrow is supposed to be July-like weather!
Had to turn on the A/C for a bit Sunday, then decided to keep it on all day yesterday.
Mr. Jalapeno came home saying that the only thing he felt was some soreness where he had the shot. He even went to Costco after his vax! But he has been rather quiet down in his Man Cave…
I saw your other note that he may be feeling something more than soreness. I hope it resolves quickly!
Hajusuuri, perhaps this Q&A will be helpful?

Personally, I feel very safe with my Pfizers. Nonetheless, I have some nagging reservations about places like gyms since I am a) old and b) have two of the lesser comorbidities. I remain happy to wear a mask indoors. I’m relieved that I don’t have to think about returning to office work.
Take good care, your perfume community needs you!
Thank you. I feel very protected by my J&J vaccine and like you, I wouldn’t want to go back to the gym with all the heavy breathing swirling around. As to the Q&A, while the Dr. provided practical advice, she seems to have more trust in others for the honor system than I do.
SotD Casmir, after coming across Bois de Jasmin’s review of it. I also have a decently priced bottle of the vintage (Lancaster) version on the way. I took a chance because I have a vintage Wish that I just love so “of course” I would like another vintage Chopard, right, huh?? I guess I will claim a few CP points as I meditate on how it is hard for me to resist an inexpensive vintage version of something that I like in the current version. Happy Tuesday and looking forward to Splitmeet, as I have finally understood how decants make life easier for the perfume-mad.
Let us know what you think of the vintage version of Casmir!
Will do! If it is fabulous, I’d be happy to send you a decant.
That’s really nice of you! Thanks!
Got rained and hailed on coming out of Costco today. Now curled up with the dog wearing Bottega Profumeria Gourmand.
Eeeeeeep!
It was slightly shocking. But then we laughed!
I’m wearing Escentric 2. I’ll probably finish my 100 ml bottle by this time next year, and it will make me sad – it’s kind of been my scent soundtrack since 2014.
Would you consider re-upping on that?
Maybe? I do have a lot of other fabulous perfume, so I’m undecided about buying another bottle.
I’m not sure I ever tried that one. Fragrantica says it has elderflower, which I love. ?
Sampling Avant Gardenia today. Pretty but I don’t need a full bottle
