Friday is finally here! Our community project for today: pick your poison BWF...wear a perfume with tuberose, gardenia or both.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Tauerville Tuberose Flash.
Reminder: on 12/14, wear a fragrance by Dame Perfumery, Dawn Spencer Hurwitz, Divine or DS & Durga, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter D.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m wearing Un Matin d’Orage from a sample. Big white gardenia. Got to get back to sampling my samples. I seem to have accumulated a lot that I haven’t even tried.
I do not even want to think about untried samples!
you smell wonderful, it’s the first Annick Goutal I got and I still love it!
I greedily try every sample almost right away. I don’t think I have any untested samples.
I almost wish I did so that I could show I’m not that addicted. “Oh, look here’s a bagful I haven’t even tried, maybe I’ll do that next month when I’m not so busy with my glamourous life…”
I’m like you, springpansy! Testing new samples is way too fun to just let them sit.
You could be a stand-up comedian! Are you?
Haha, no. But thanks. (I think.)
Same here! When one of my sample packages arrives from Luckyscent, StC or TPC (I’m a huge fan of samples), I’ll cover my arms with a tiny dab of each one to get a first impression.
It’s such a great scent. Are you wearing the EDT or the EDP? They are quite different.
I believe it is the EDT, from 2003. I know it isn’t the 2014 version, which I believe was the EDP.
The EDT is the one I have and love as well, gardenia, jasmine and no tuberose.
Oooh, I love that one, you smell great!
I am had a cold walk in central park this morning…around the holiday season I need to find ways to decompress so I don’t loose my mind.
So interesting at this time of the year, I was in 3 layers but saw 4 men running in shorts and a t-shirt. Good Grief!
Though I love being out in the cold when the sun is out, ever since I got pregnant the joint in my fingers hurt when I come out of the cold weather. So strange..
Tomorrow is Crazy Monkey’s birthday, she has gone 4 times around the sun.
Everyone have a fragrant weekend ahead!
I should say, so it’s not read the wrong way that I meant when I was pregnant a few years ago, not presently. That shipped has sailed!
I was about to congratulate you again…..LOL! 🙂
I have not been able to wear my wedding rings since my 1st pregnancy….my ring size is forever changed. I need to get the rings resized!
Happy 4th Birthday to your Monkey! 4 is such a great age! 🙂
Hah! I understood you.
I agree with that age.. I don’t have kids but I loved babysitting 3 and 4 year olds. Happy birthday, CM!!
Rats, I got all excited! Happy birthday, Crazy Monkey! Four year olds are some of my favourite people!
I also wanted to congratulate you on your (past) pregnancy! Enthusiastically at that. Now I’ll just wish Crazy Monkey a Happy Birthday!
Many happy returns to your little one.
Happy 4th to your crazy monkey! ?
Happy birthday to the crazy monkey. I hope your family has a wonderful time celebrating the occasion.
I have a male friend who wears shorts in the winter. I think maybe he just generates a lot of heat- and he’s not running!
Happy birthday to your little crazy monkey! Time flies! At least for me ?
I haven’t even been pregnant but lots of my rings don’t fit, it seems my knuckles have gotten bigger. Happy birthday to your little Monkey!
It happens, sadly. And our jaws get more prominent. Old age is cruel, but as they say, always preferable to the alternative.
Happy Birthday to your crazy monkey. I have seen runners / joggers with no cover on their nose. I can’t imagine breathing in the cold air with no relief!
Happy Birthday Crazy Monkey! ?
Awww, happy birthday to the Monkey!
Happy birthday to Crazy Monkey!
I love the way you phrased that, that you little Monkey has gone 4 times around the sun. I have never thought about birthdays in that particular way. I agree about 4 year olds. I have a 4 year old great nephew, and he’s a hoot.
Yes, it gives a concrete way for young children to understand the months of the year and the earth’s revolution around the sun each year. It also is a way for her to feel special and to connect with her place in the world.
Happy birthday to Crazy Monkey!
Happy Birthday to your Crazy Monkey!?????
Happy Birthday to your Crazy Monkey! ????
Happy 4th to your sweet crazy monkey! ?❤️
Happy 4th to Crazy Monkey tomorrow!
I can only do LWFs (because BWFs give me headaches), and even then I need them to be in the chorus as opposed to singing the aria. I went with Chanel Cristalle EDP, and oh my god, why do I not wear this more often?? I want the entire world to smell this wonderful.
I love that one in the winter. Enjoy! Its gorgeous
Frosted flowers- my favorite Chanel!
Gorgeous!
I’m with you regarding BWFs. Still waiting to find a gardenia fragrance that doesn’t morph into the Flower That Ate Tokyo on my skin….not holding my breath. ? ?
You smell great in Cristalle!
Good morning Y’all……Thank goodness it’s FriYAY!!! It’s been a long week….just 2 more weeks until school is out and my zoo crew can relax a bit…. 🙂
I just wasn’t feeling the big flowers today, so I went with a sample of Atelier Orange Sanguine, along with repeat layering of Grove Collaborative Bergamot Orange hand cream. I’m gonna add Orange Sanguine to my Luxury Scentbox queue….it’s really bright and crisp!
Have a great weekend! It’s gonna rain here in Atlanta, so I’m planning a weekend of reading, baking, and a generous nap or two…
I really like Orange Sanguine, but I’m always looking for something similar, but with more depth, or spice. Have you tried Orange Bitters? I was wondering if they were similar.
I have Orange Bitters on my Christmas wishlist! LOL Have no idea if Santa will act on that or not… 🙂
Orange Sanguine doesn’t last but a few minutes on my skin, so not FB worthy for me….Maybe I could layer it with Demeter Mulled Cider for some oomph!
I am going to be contrary here and say that I did not care much for JM Orange Bitters when I had a very quick sniff of it. It seemed “dusty” to my nose.
I didn’t like it at all. And I like orange-scented things generally.
To my nose there was a difference. Orange Sanguine was refreshing true to life orange juice that dries down to a soft citrus musky skin scent. Orange Bitters was citrus with sandalwood/sweet amber vibe…not as succulent as the Orange Sanguine…I enjoy them both and they are different enough to me to warrant owning both.
I am in Elie Saab Essence No. 2 Gardenia. While it is definitely a white floral and has gardenia, it is much too soft for BWF. I am suprised that jasmine is listed – it smells more like gardenia and lily too me. It is a clean, dry, slightly powdery white floral. Pretty, but I think Gardez-Moi would be my go-to pretty gardenia scent.
I also have a feeling thta this gardenia would benefit from a warm weather and might bloom then.
I’ll keep wearing white florals next week – I am enjoying this!
And I want to quote the introduction to Luca Turin’s review of this scent, since I enjoyed it so much:
“The smell of gardenia is, in my opinion, an argument in favor of the notion that pollinating insects, despite their small size and generally rebarbative appearance, are in fact sensitive souls with dandified tastes not unlike those of the aesthetes among us. Why else would evolution put so much beauty in the smell of a flower? Note also that white flowers do it all with, so to speak, one hand tied behind the back since they do not even bother to use color as an attractant. I can just imagine a gardenia stage-whispering to a neighboring jasmine, ‘Did you see that rose? Is that red dress vulgar or what?'”
Luca Turin, Perfumes The Guide 2018
I love those reviews. The one in the earlier guide of L’Artisan’s Vanilia is still one of my favourites. “Enjoy it with a banana float, a sunburn, and really loud music. There will always be time for refinement later.”
😆
Thanks for the quotes, the both of you.
I remember that review and it made me want to try the scent. Waft my way!
*Wafts* 🙂
Ha, he is funny!
I’ve yet to try those new Tauers.
My BWF of the day is the mother of all things tuberose, the great and to some daunting Fracas. Wearing both EDP and extrait de parfum. Prefer the latter, it’s darker and even moodier.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! It looks like it will be grey and rainy here, I love the sun, but we still need the water, so the rain is welcome.
I can smell you from here! ? Enjoy the rain.
I have an irrational fear of wearing Fracas ?
Me too! Heard too many Fracas horror stories.
Today is my first time ever trying Fracas. A little dab seems to be working fine for me. Then again, I get along with most BWFs.
Whoa. Fracas times two. I salute you!
You smell gorgeous, twin! I hope you got some of the rain you need!
I’m wearing L’Artisan Parfumeur’s Rappelle-Toi, it was part of the Explosions d’Emotion series. The series wasn’t too popular, and I think it’s discontinued, but I really love this one. Gardenia and incense, yummy!
Sounds lovely. A lot of perfumes I liked from 5-10 years ago seem to be discontinued, a lot of Artisan Parfumeur, Serge Lutens, Annick Goutal 🙁
I know, and it’s so sad! I particularly treasure my old L’Artisan and Lutens bottles.
Ooh, that sounds lovely.
You’ll be pleased to know that Rapelle-Toi is one of the two Explosions that made it into the smokey grey bottles and is still available. ?
Mine is Juste un reve from Parfums de Nicolai, which isn’t overpowering in the middle white floral notes but just right. But I picked it because it’s cheerful more than anything.
It’s very nice and very cheerful and just so easy to wear.
Perfect for easy Fridays 🙂
Not certain what I’m going to wear. Maybe Chanel Beige. It’s cold and rainy today. Several weeks ago, we had a freeze, and one of the plants to survive was my gardenia plant. And I even see what could be some potential flower buds, so I’m absolutely thrilled for this miracle. I’ll be sure to cover it next freeze. TGIF.
Yay — hope you will get some good blooms!
Partial credit for me in a big white floral jasmine—Amouage Journey. Errr… ahem. I may have over applied. Will be much happier when this perfume calms down.
That’s a very strong one, but very lovely, too!
I know I must have cut quite a figure slinking from my car to the ATM machine this AM in two-day worn sweats, an old sweater, and sockless in slippers, AND smelling like a million bucks. I quickly made my withdrawal and hastened back to my car!!!
Every time I overapply I’m like WHYYYYY for the first hour but then later am glad I did…
I firmly believe that great perfumes cannot be over applied!
Perhaps then not over applied but over inhaled? In any event it has mellowed now and is really beautiful!
I was being flippant. But when I’m in a certain mood, I love to over apply, just to be obnoxious.
Mind you, I used to wear upwards of 6 sprays of Paris EDP back in the day, which I won’t do now.
It’s a good one once it calms down 🙂 On my skin I mostly get osmanthus/apricot, I will pay attention to the jasmine next time.
Actually, I agree with you. The jasmine is all in the top notes–but as it dries down/calms down, it is mostly a honeyed osmanthus on me.
I am wearing L’Artisan La Chasse aux Papillons and drinking English Breakfast Tea.
Happy Friday !
You smell great Barqs.
Ahhh…gorgeous,
I chose Opardu for the cp. It has lilac gardenia, tuberose and jasmin so it’s a pwrfect fit and one of my top ten, hg scents.
My dog has been sick for the past few days with vomiting and diarrhea. Poor thing is at the vet this morning. I hope it’s just an upset stomach.
Dogs often seem to get these stomach upsets. I hope it gets better soon!
Thanks! Me too. Wish she could talk. ?
Opardu is lovely. And I hope your puppy is feeling better soon, you must be so worried.
Awww. I’m sorry for your pup. ?
On the bright side, you smell beautiful!
I hope your dog recovers quickly!
Poor pup! I hope it’s just something he shouldn’t have eaten…
You smell beautiful, though.
I hope it’s nothing serious and the vet helps.
Poor baby, healing vibes!
You smell lovely but of course you knew that already ?
Sending healing vibes to your dog!
Hope the doggo is better! Vomiting and diarrhea are never good, especially when packaged together!
Opardu must be beautiful, hope your dog recover quickly.
Hope is nothing serious and she recovers quick!
I hope your dog is OK, it is worrying when you don’t know what is wrong with a pet.
Hope your baby’s feeling better soon!
Hope your furry baby is better soon!
Advice I got from my vet, and it works every single time….When my Chewy is sick with tummy troubles, I hold his kibble and feed him canned pumpkin for a meal or two. The pumpkin helps everything move along, and gives him some hydration. And he loves it! Ask your vet how he feels about that…..It’s sure cheaper than a vet visit! 🙂
I have heard that. I need to find the type that isn’t pie filling so the spices don’t make it worse. Thanks for the advice!
For some reason, vets always recommend Del Monte pumpkin.
Hoping your dog is on the mend soon.
What a bummer that your dog hasn’t been feeling well! I hope the vet can provide a remedy.
Thanks everyone. I cooked chicken with rice when I came home from work for her. I gave her a small amount along with medicine from the vet. So far she’s keeping it down. I will give it another hour and then give her a little more. The past two days have been hard on her so I hope a bland diet for the next several days will take care of it once and for all.
Good luck! It sounds like you have an excellent plan.
In the big and explosive tuberose Dior Poison. Even though I have problems wearing tuberose, for some weird reason I love Poison. It is one of my forgotten friends. I don’t reach for it these days, but when I wear it I really enjoy it.
PSA: Ebay has 10% off everything. Code: PHLDAYTEN. No minimum purchase required. Valid from 3:00 AM PT on December 7, until 3:00 AM PT on December 8.
Have a good Friday everyone!
You are smelling fantastic! I love Poison as well?
Thank you! ?
I wore Poison back in the day…you smell great.
Thank you!
So did I… tons of it. It was such a great scent!
Ha! You must have worn it like I did (sillage monster that I was 🙂 !! ) It really was great!
Thanks for the heads up! 🙂
😉
You smell great! I was thinking of Poison for today, but ultimately decided against it, as I had to work very closely with some other people this morning.
One tiny spray was more than enough for me! 😀
I am not going to tell you how many sprays I did when I wore it decades ago ?☠️
Please, DON’T! ???
LOL ? ?
I was wondering if someone was going to wear Poison, what a good choice.
It is a nice perfume, but nobody wears that anymore! I treasure my bottle!
You smell fabulous!
Thank you! ?
If you have a vintage bottle of Poison, you are lucky!
Unfortunately it is not vintage. If I remember well I bought that bottle in 2007. But it is still better that recent formulations.
I see. I agree that what’s passing for Poison now is definitely a different critter.
I did the BWF thing at the beginning of the week. Today it’s going to be Bottega Veneta Cipresso or Geisha Rouge, for baking Christmas pies and wrapping presents, and one more trip to the mall.
You are baking early, good for you!
Wearing my fave gardenia, the Dame soliflore. Today I keep noticing a movie-theater-butter note in it, which I am not against.
Sometimes I use coconut oil to moisturize my hands, and the smell always goes a little buttered-popcorn on my skin. I like it too!
Joining in the CP with Black Gardenia Oil from Michele Bergman. This one take Gardenia just to the edge of Blue Cheese, then stops. Not subtle, and lasts forever, so wearing just a drop.
That sounds lovely.
It really is, and the 15 ml I have will last several lifetimes 🙂
No points for me today…I got a sample of FM Parfum de Therese the other day and OMG I think it is about the most beautiful thing I’ve ever smelled! I can’t stop wearing it and must get more, stat!
Isn’t it wonderful? You’ll never regret getting more.
Seconding Regina. PdT always makes me feel as though I’m a worldly French woman of a certain age (picture Charlotte Rampling in a white linen shirt), who has seen it all but who is not unkind. Buy it before it gets reformulated.
Oh dear, you just put the fears into me. i was thinking of just getting 10 ml but might have to go for 30 ml straight away!
Yum.
What does it smell like? I’m so curious now.
I wish I was better at describing scent lillyjo but I’ll try…
It is a kind of fruity floral, but nothing girlish about it. I get a sweet/tart plummy fruit and rich but sheer florals. A bit of spice? All on a grassy base. Purpotedly there is melon here but I can’t smell it. To me, it brings to mind a plum silk, if that helps. Try it, I’m just loving it and that’s all I can say for sure 🙂
You make it sound very dreamy.. Thanks!
Wearing a dab from my decant of SL Tubereuse Criminelle again. I do think it’s my favorite BWF. And I don’t find it strong when it’s a dab.
Very happy that it’s finally Friday!
Twins! We smell marvelous! Mine is from a decant as well.
♥
No BWF per say: I’m wearing vintage Caron Infini in parfum concentration. It’s a green floral that starts with a (to my nose) whiff of jasmine, followed by a massive hyacinth and then iris & vetiver & sandalwood . . . oo-err . . . *eyes roll to the back of head*.
Infini reminds me a *lot* of Chanel No 19, minus the punch-you-in-the-face leather & galbanum & oakmoss. Fair enough, given they were both launched in 1970. My bottle is from late 1970s and came fully wrapped. I sort of feel sorry for whoever’s granny it was who never opened their little present 😀
That sounds lovely. Enjoy your treasure!
That sounds wonderful, I’ve tried a recent EdT and it’s lovely.
Going big in FM’s Carnal Flower. I spritzed conservatively, but I still managed to scent the whole house . . .
One of these days I will splurge on that body butter!
It is absolutely amazing. Very rich, so a little goes a long way, and the scent in it lasts forever. You don’t need to spritz if you wear it, so you are really saving money on the non-sprayed perfume . ( 😛 )
I totally agree – some days when spraying feels like too much I just wear the body butter.
It’s a bargain! Ha!
Twins! What a great scent. I thought this morning I’d thunk my sample, but that would have involved just one spray too many, so it lives to scent another day.
Carnal Flower is stunning and powerful!
Madonna Truth or Dare for today’s CP 🙂
Truth or Dare is wonderful. You need to be in the mood for it though.
My first full-bottle BWF! Like a buttercream cake with tuberose and gardenia garnish ?
Perfect!
I’m wearing Lys 41, from the bottle I bought in Berlin. The scent is just summer in a bottle to me, which is lovely on a cold day with rain and sleet looming.
Have a fragrant and peaceful Friday!
Great choice sistine, I love that one.
I’m sampling a nice little cheap thrill today: Jennifer Aniston’s self-titled perfume. It gets lots of comparisons to Child Perfume, but it’s much lighter and more scrubbed-clean, on a base of warm, clean musk. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but I’m enjoying it as a comfort scent.
Jennifer Aniston is mostly jasmine (and I’m wearing it over jasminey Neutrogena Body Oil), so I’m CP-adjacent today.
I actually bought this as a set for a niece and it is so affordable!
I’m so so tired after being kept awake by some guy talking on the phone in my apartment floor’s hallway and stairwell. Soundproofing is awful in my building and the stairwell is just on the other side of my bedroom wall. So we get all the sounds. Much coffee is needed, and I’m going to try very hard to leave work at 4 today since I’ve stayed late every day this week.
Rounding out BWF week in Carnal Flower. I’ve realized I need to space out my BWF wearings. I need a break from the genre after wearing them for 5 days straight.
I got my sample of St. Clair Casablanca in the mail yesterday so I wore one tiny spray of it last night. First impression is that it’s so gorgeous. It reminds me of a smoother Narcisse Noir with more modern ingredients and style. I can’t wait to wear it again this weekend and get even more familiar with it. And it’s very strong – 50% concentration!
It reminds me of SSS Jour Ensoleille. I agree it’s gorgeous….and potent.
I’ll have to dig out my sample of Jour Ensoleille to compare. So sad that I only have a sample of that one.
I did the comparison and while not identical there is a definitive similarity to my nose…maybe the orange blossom…have to say that St. Clair Scents have a similar vibe to Sonoma Scent Studio…which makes me very happy.
Ugh. That’s irritating. I’m thankful our bedroom is basement level and actually under our neighbors yard so pretty quiet. Our living room is ground floor and near the building entry so we constantly hear the door slamming and people standing around talking in the hall. I’ve sort of gotten used to it. Sort of, lol.
Smelling great, though! And that Casablanca sounds good!
Ooh, I’ve been reading a bit about Casablanca, and I love Narcisse Noir, so this goes on the list of things to try.
Sorry you had a bad night, a quiet soundproofed apartment is the first thing I considered when I purchased it. The way you describe Casablanca makes me want to try it.
I sympathize with your apartment woes. I have an upstairs neighbor who likes to sing – very loudly and not very well – in the shower. I think his bathroom must be right above our bedroom because I often hear him while I’m lying in bed. I’ve gone back and forth about whether I should ask him to be a little quieter, but I don’t want to embarrass him or ruin his fun.
Hope you can get out of work early today!
Hmmm.. that sounds really nice, and if it’s at all like Jour Ensoleille I would love it.
Incredibly thankful that our building seems built to block neighborly noise. We do get loud conversations at the elevator, but it’s rare and short. Oddly enough, someone in the building likes to do vocal scales or professional singing. It comes through our bathroom vent. I find that pleasantly amusing.
My apartment is mercifully soundproof, but when the windows are open you hear a lot of conversations on the street, car radios blaring, and occasionally the neighbour singing opera.
I hope the coffee helped, and that you have a very peaceful night tonight.
My soundproofing woe: if I sleep in our upstairs bedroom, at 4:45 am I will always be woken up by my neighbor saying “Mochabelle, you need to go to the bathroom!”. Apparently that’s her labradoodle’s designated bathroom time.
Wearing a smidge of VC&A Gardenia Petale from an evaporating decant. Doesn’t quite smell like gardenia to me- maybe lily and some white floral melange. It’s nice and bright, though, and matches the sunny day.
Off today with not much planned except making up for all the food I didn’t get to eat for the past 2 days. My procedure went fine but ended up with bad cramps this am ?, so am taking it easy. Maybe a movie later. Anyone see The Favourite? Curious to hear opinions.
I am working on decants and samples to avoid evaporation. This is my own CP.
Thunk on! I think my evaporating ones are languishing because I’m not compelled to wear them. Hopefully they’ll get shipped off soon to a thunker, lol.
YUP! Shipping them off is another option 😉
I am working on some decants for the same reason. Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks! Feeling much better this afternoon.
What a good choice, funny I get plenty of gardenia from it.
And feel better soon, glad you’re all done with the procedures.
Thanks Aurora!
Do take it easy. Haven’t seen The Favourite, other than trailers. A friend glowingly recommended Green Book.
Got tickets already, but I’ll put that on the list! I’ll report back. His The Lobster was one of the most disturbing films I’ve seen in the last several years. Hoping this isn’t as dark…
Sorry to hear that you have cramps, post-procedure. Sounds like a favorite soup or stew might be good for both body and soul.
Thanks Jalapeno! I had mostly yogurt/kefir today, but really want a burger!!! ?
LOL! I’ve had food moments like that! I hope you get your burger craving taken care of soon. ?
Oh, yogurt and kefir are perfect for what’s ailing you right now. I hope a little bit of ‘tincture of time’ helps too, as my mom used to say. ?
I hope you feel better soon!
Sorry to hear that you were under the weather but you smelled very pretty. Glad you are feeling better.
I’m participating in the CP with Tubereuse Criminelle, pretty much the only BWF I truly love. I would never have discovered it were it not for you fabulous people! Thank you!
I do believe I smell wonderful.
Your beliefs are true! You smell fabulous!
Thank you!
TC is a wonderful weirdo!
Isn’t it, though? Glowy white floral.
Question for Robin
Have we ever done wear an all natural perfume for a community project? I would call it Back to Nature
Here here!
??
Back to nature could also include O’Driu Peety (aka O’Driu Pee-pee). ???
LOL ? ?
No no no! That guy at O’Driu is a nut.
Well I am surprised to see we have not! Adding to list.
Yay!!!!
Great idea!
I’m wearing Sotto la Luna Tuberose from the lovely Andy Tauer. Happy Friday!
You have one-upped me 🙂
They are both wonderful!
His tuberose fragrances are amazing. You both smell delightful!
Our Bouquet which will be a thunk tonight.
I am doing my own community project of wear a sample or decant before it evaporates. So many perfume peeps have been complaining about this so I am taking action….or maybe this is my THUNK CP ???
Oud not Our!!! Sheesh spellcheck!!
So did your skin eat up Oud Bouquet? On me, it literally lasts for days, like vintage Opium days, lol
Yup it did!! I reapplied through out the day..by the evening it was a thunk!
Wearing a couple sprays of Calyx by Prescriptives as I patiently wait for my new fridge to be delivered. It was supposed by be here last Friday but never got it; no email or phone call about the delay. I finally got through to someone late last Friday afternoon advising it was delayed until Nov 7th. I’ve never had such poor CS in my life. So frustrated!
I called this morning early to confirm delivery and have a ‘window of delivery time’ now.
My niece and I just watched Crazy Rich Asians together to pass the time. She was very sweet about it; said she felt bad that I had to wait around by myself, so we should spend the day together while the boys – her Dad and Uncle (my hubby) went golfing. We will get our revenge when we go to the outlet mall on Sunday! lol?
Ugh, deliveries during this time of year is guaranteed to be late! Sorry for all that hassle, but you got to spend time with your niece.
Thanks for the heads up!! When we arrived at our condo, we discovered the fridge not cooling enough after we shopped for groceries. Learned that the compressor is gone.
We own a condo at a resort; called the Management Office and got a temporary fridge for now (albeit, not a great one either). Since we own the condo it’s up to us to replace it.
This one was supposed to be in stock according to the website.
*cries in sympathy*
1) I was considering investing a condo-tel on the Oregon Coast; this is one of the things I worry about!
2) And yeah- there is a shortage of truck drivers/delivery drivers and compounded with the season things will be late.
Ugh x 2! What did you think of Crazy Rich Asians?
I tried not to read too much into it. We enjoyed it; a few good characters made it fun.
We ordered a stove last Thanksgiving, and it was supposed to be delivered in a couple weeks. I think it ended up arriving 4 months later, something ridiculous like that 🙂
Er, umm, what now?
Oh my gosh. That’s so awful, did they have any creative stories for you?
Not really — we got a great price, then they said they were all gone, and I saw it as a bait & switch. We just held out and eventually got our cheap stove 🙂
Outlet shopping sounds fun!.. and you smell great!
Aww thanks lillyjo!
Yuck! Waiting around for appliance deliveries is a total pain in the tuchus! I hope they come through for you with the fridge this time.
Yup, they redeemed themselves. My hubby got back in time to sit and wait while I went to the beach and had some sun.. came back for lunch and they were here bringing the fridge in!
Very happy now! ❄⛄
w00t w00t!
Hi All! Happy Friday!
1) Am in Kai body lotion and perfume oil, from a travel set I bought last year at Nordstrom’s Rack. I also used the shower gel as well. I smell subtly and wonderfully of gardenia; being layered under wool and the cold weather makes what could be a big fragrance in the heat very tolerable. The body lotion sinks right and is not greasy.
2) Am currently writing a business plan wit some other folks to launch an online beauty maagazine, ala XO Jane. So many moving parts, so many possibilities.
What fun, good luck to you!
*Crosses fingers and toes*
Kai is amazing! You smell terrific!
I really like it! You have to be in a warm, slightly humid climate to truly appreciate it’s charms BUT worn with the lotion and gel it’s really lovely!
That’s so exciting – good luck with the magazine!
Beauty mag!?! Coolness! Good luck!
Made it to Friday!!! And just realized my eldest and Crazy Monkey share a birthday. He’s fifteen today and I’ll bake him a cake tomorrow. SOTD l’Eau d’Issey Absolue. My husband bought me this long ago in what must have been a moment of sheer madness or optimism, as I never used to wear perfume. Until this year when, because I love reading and often just buy books on sale -even if I’m not interested in the subject matter per se- I bought Alyssa Harad’s “Coming to my Senses”. I became intrigued by people’s decriptions of fragrances -pretty much as Alyssa herself described. Then blind ordered Ninfeo Mio after deciding which notes I would probably like if I were to dip my toes in the waters. Anyhow, l’EdI Absolue is not bad. BWF with notes of jasmine and tuberose. And apparently Freesia. Have a good weekend, everyone!
Happy birthday to your eldest!
Eldest son!
Correct on both counts. And thank you! ?
Happy Birthday to your son! I think that’s such an interesting way that you got into perfume, pretty neat?
Amyitis, it was a book that got me into perfume too! Mine was Gazelle by Rikki Ducornet.
To this day, I love reading about perfume almost as much as I love smelling it.
That book gave me new appreciation for Annick Goutal’s Neroli that I had foresaken for being too one dimensional 🙂
Happy Birthday to your son! That is a cool entry-way-to-perfume story.
Wearing Sotto la Luna Gardenia. I could have sworn that I didn’t have a gardenia.
I like that one but only in hot humid weather
Geez, totally forgot I still have a sample of that. You smell great!
Oh, I love that scent. Please waft some in my direction.
I’m in a couple of swipes of BPAL The Arrival at the Sabbath and Homage to the Devil.
Lots of spicey carnationy incensey goodness. Polar opposite a BWF, but hey, sometimes you need to go your own way…
?you can call it another lonely day?…. sorry, I really can’t help myself ?
Hehe! Don’t be sorry! You finished what I started. We’re a good team✌?
Spicy carnations and incense sound pretty tempting!
SOTD = Serge Lutens Chergui
Massive fail on the CP but smellin’ fantastic, if I may say so myself.
Project No-bake Dessert on a Stick continues.
– Either Mallomars (thanks foxbins) or store-bought macarons, covered with chocolate shell (the ones you add as ice cream topping), plus sprinkles. I don’t know whether or not the chocolate shell will stick but I may coat the macaron with honey or marshmallow first before dipping in the chocolate shell.
– Dark chocolate shell studded with peanut butter chips
– Rice Krispie treats from a kit (I think they exist?) and I will get creative with the decorating.
I need to experiment this weekend!
I say you’re smellin’ fantastic, too!!!
Great minds think alike—just got the fixings for Rice Krispies treats here, too! ??
Thank you, Creosote! This could be the first a Rice Krispies treat twins on NST!
Love Rice Krispies treats!!!
I do too!
I think the chocolate shell needs the coldness of the ice cream to harden. How about chocolate ganache? If you tinker with the chocolate/cream ration you should end up with something that will stay on.
Ratio, not ration. I hate autocomplete.
Looks like I need to google the recipe although this may be over-ambitious for moi!
Dark chocolate and peanut butter = total yum!
It is!
I like the Rice Krispie treats on a stick idea. 🙂
Heh, now I’m thinking of how to make it more decadent!
OK, what about “deconstructed fruitcake” as an idea? Up to you if you want to use candy canes for the stick, or not. Take poundcake and cut into cubes. Then get some candied fruit or dried fruit, and make kebobs on the sticks. Have crushed nuts on the side for the whole fruitcake fixings experience.
After a bit of pondering, I can see a spice cake from the local bakery working just as well as, if not better than poundcake.
Spice cake sounds more like it! Looks like I need to check out Wegmans’ bakery section in addition to the baking aisle.
Can you make brownies from a mix in a round cake pan? (or buy them). cut into triangles, put ice cream stick in bottom and decorate with green icing and red m&m’s to look like a christmas tree….so cute.
Is ill look into this! Thanks!
Wearing Tom Ford Velvet Gardenia. Definitely big
I just found an old sample of VG in my stash, hope it’s still good!
It’s been a hectic week, I’m very glad it’s Saturday, and I have so much NST to catch up on. I’m wearing Mary Greewell’s Plum as I finish my breakfast and contemplate some tidying around the home. I have just checked the notes on Fragantica and see it has both gardenia and tuberose, so I’m much more on theme than I expected 🙂
I did wear Un Matin d’Orage earlier this week, but I what day that was!
Plum is lovely.
I hope your weekend is peaceful and relaxing.
Had a brief-lived spritz of Douceur de Siam, a pwf, and now am in Encens Mythique.
You smell wonderful!
Skimming posts this week, I was relieved to read that I am not the only one for whom BWF is a least-favored category, especially with respect to tuberose, (probably my most-avoided note). I do like many jasmines – especially Songes – with an occasional LOTV in Spring and a bit of gardenia, but only in summer.
I thought I might be not be able to play today but am happy to report that I can: my SOTD is Canaica by Galimard, a souvenir of my tour through the Galimard perfumery in Eze. Haven’t worn it in awhile and I almost forgot I had it. Fragrantica describes it as a sweet oriental and lists its notes as top: lilac, caramel, ylang ylang; heart: raspberry, jasmine, tuberose; and base: amber and vanilla. It’s warm, caramelly goodness (I can only smell a tiny bit of the tuberose or any floral) is perfect for a sunny but very cold Friday.
Skimming posts this week, I also noticed that some of you are experiencing ailing/or the loss of family members, be they human or furry or feathered. Having lost both of my parents years ago shortly after Thanksgiving, and having helped numerous furry family members cross that Rainbow Bridge, I wanted to extend my condolences and hugs to you. I, too, think of these sad events at this time of year and miss those no longer present. But watching Little Bear scamper through our home, brave and fearless and bringing new life and energy, reminds me that new joys come when least expected and how important it has been for me to remain open to all of what life brings. So I hope not only that you find comfort in warm memories but that new joys await you when least expected!
Glad Little Bear is doing well. The holidays can be bittersweet.
Thank you for your kind words, they are so true. I lost both my beloved dogs this summer, now I have a sweet new puppy scampering through my house, just like you with your Little Bear. Life goes on, the wheel turns, but we cherish the memories of those who have gone on ahead.
This is such a touching post. Thank you for it.
Thank you Laila.
That’s so beautiful. Thank you.
No truer words, Laila!
I’m a double trouble BWF bomb wearing K de Krizia on my right arm and Jil Sander No. 4 on the left. Both are big shoulderpad scents loaded with jasmine, Tuberose, and peach, plus lots more. So far the Jil Sander is winning the sillage battle but maybe because the K is just EDT. I wore K a lot back in the day but kind of lost track of it. I bought my current bottle from a vintage dealer at a market but who knows how old it is. I’m about to go to the museum student art show which often has pretty good stuff for sale. I’m wanting to get out for a bit before our forecast deluge hits (8 inches?).
K de Krizia is so beautiful. I had one bottle in the late eighties and never saw it anywhere again.
8 inches of any kind of precipitation is definitely hunker down somewhere safe weather! ?☔☃?
8 inches?? Batten down the hatches!
Stay safe, dry and warm! Did you see anything amazing at the art show?
Suchgood choices, K de Krizia is a favorite, I went through a bottle in the 90s and have a bottle of EDT and a small spray of the extrait and I have the current No 4.
What do you think of the current version?
I chose Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum for the CP: lots of gardenia and coconut and quite delicious, it cheered me on a rainy day and I plan to continue on theme and wear the oil tonight, I coudn’t be without it.
I wear the oil a lot but never tried the perfume. Thanks btw for your jasmin suggestions the other day!
Thank you and you’re welcome, Yasmina. The oil is such an effective product for dry skin.
If you came across Donna Karan Essence Jasmine, probably difficult to find now but it’s a beautiful, pure jasmine, not indolic. That Essence series with Labdanum, Lavender and Wenge was so good (sigh).
Good pick!
Thank you, Holyneroli, in fact I find it better than Terracotta, I reach for it much more often
Wearing Narciso. Not really a BWF, but does have gardenia.
Big enough on me!
You smell great.
I’m rocking the OG tuberose BWF, Fracas for the CP. It may or may not also contain gardenia among its notes—depends on which perfume site you look at. In any case, I’m radiating its creamy floral glory on an uncharacteristically dark, wet day.
Waft on and have a wonderful Friday, NST!!!
We are scent twins today! It feels rather wonderful to wear a perfume that smells so like sun and summer when it is actually dark and wet.
Yay! Howdy, twin! I know what you mean…but only because of my time in Britain. It just doesn’t rain enough here in the desert to feel that way about it.☺️
Scent triplet(s)!
Woot!!!
Narciso again because I love it and I love gardenia. It’s not big, it’s creamy and deserves to be reapplied often.
I’ve probably mentioned this before (nickname is Rerun)…. but gardenia reminds me of my favorite formal outfit from college dances. Plain black (polyester) chiffon flowy pants and loose top with boat neck and cap sleeves. Instead of jewelry, I would go buy a single gardenia to wear like a brooch. I felt so chic. And I smelled so good.
You smell wonderful!
Had decided on Oil Fiction from JHAG, but woke up with a headache, so failed at the CP…. Wore Montale White Musk instead and smelled like freshly ironed und starched laundry. Thanks to a triple espresso at work the headache went away in the afternoon.
Sampled Felanilla in the evening, which is quite nice.
I’m glad your headache packed its bags and left!
Hello everyone! Thanks to all for the well wishes to my niece and her new baby yesterday! It was a very stressful delivery, and there are some complications that have them both under hospital care for at least a few days, but we are grateful have this beautiful baby girl with us. I had big BWF plans today, but ended up wearing Organza, because I love it and find it comforting. I didn’t even know it had white florals in it, until someone mentioned it earlier this week. Lol, I think the color fooled my nose?
Wishing mom and baby a speedy recovery! You smell great ??
Hurray for your brand-new family addition! Best wishes for the health of both the mom and baby! ?
Yay for a new baby girl in the family! Wishing a speedy recovery for mom and baby. Hugs!
Hoping mom and baby recover soon!
Hooray! A new baby is such a wonderful gift. Best wishes for a quick recovery for mom and little girl.
Congratulations Aunty! So glad that your niece and baby girl are okay.
Congrats on the new baby girl!
TGIF! What a week it’s been.
If anyone missed my update last night, here’s a quick recap plus some additional info: my mom did have a stroke. She is out of ICU. She will require in-patient rehab for a while. Not sure if that is happening at the hospital she is at, or at another facility. Prognosis is good, but she does have some challenges ahead of her.
SOTD = the matriarch of BWFs, Fracas EdP. Thanks to jepster for this sample! That little dabber will last a LONG time.
Healing prayers for your mom, may she have a speedy and complete healing.
Thanks, cazaubon!
Thank you for this update. I had missed last night. Good news, albeit with challenges!
I missed your update last night. I hope your mom has a complete recovery. Keeping her in my prayers.
I was happy to share good news, LizzieB!
I missed your update last night. I hope your mom has a complete recovery. Keeping her in my prayers.
Thanks, PL67! We shall see what happens.
Continued prayers for a full recovery!
Thank you lillyjo! My brother said that she was doing much better yesterday.
Sending healing love and light to your mom and your entire family (it takes a village…!) Blessings.
Thank you jepster! My mom is lucky to have the support system that she does.
I hope your mum makes a good recovery! And Fracas is wonderful, I love it.
Thanks austenfan! I have been happily surprised by Fracas today… it is lovely!
Oh, dear! I’m so sorry, Jalapeno. I hope she recovers well from this. Sounds promising, though. Hugs to you and I’m sure it’s stressful being far away.
Thank you Elisa P! The updates I’ve been getting have been rather positive. It does suck not being there, though.
Jalepeno, I’m sending my energy and thoughts to your mom, you, your brother and all your family. I hope her recovery is smooth. I also live far away from my parents, and so I send extra hugs to you for being in that very difficult position.
Thank you sistine! All the positive thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated.
Hoping she recovers without any deficit! Sending good wishes her way✌?
Thank you Deva! She was being moved to the rehab facility earlier this evening.
Yeah, I think my 50ml bottle will last me…forever.
Hugs to you and best wishes for your mom’s recovery and rehab Jalapeño!
Thanks Creosote!
I can’t imagine getting through a 50mL bottle of Fracas! This is one scent I can easily picture in a cute little rollerball.
This is good news, Jalapeño! I hope she continues to progress well at rehab!
Thanks! Time will tell….
Best wishes for a full recovery to your mum. Stay strong.
No scent today–I’m cleaning and packing like mad, getting ready to leave tomorrow morning on a cruise to the Bahamas. Need a break, need some warm, need many drinks…….but I am packing my Tauer discovery set–that little tin that Andy uses is very travel friendly and will hold five large size samples….enough for a week or more.
Nice! Enjoy your trip
Safe Travels and Sunny Skies, jepster!
Have fun on your cruise and may you come back rejuvenated!
Have a wonderful trip! Enjoy a drink for me, please.
Have a safe and fun trip!
Enjoy your well deserved cruise. Tell us all about it on return.
I needed some power today so wore Chanel Chance. Now going to rummage through my small samples for some BWF
That is a category of perfume I think everyone should have: the “I feel powerful” or “I can do this!” perfume.
I foresee many NSTRs wearing No 19 for that project. ?
Best wishes to your mom to keep getting better and better, Jalapeno.
And happy trip to Jepster. It will be nice to be somewhere that’s really warm.
Very late today, but am in HG Moon Bloom. Someone mentioned it the other day and considering how much I wear this in the summer, I cannot believe I missed reaching for it earlier this week.
Thank you Mary Carol!
I’ve gone for half-credit, in Bijan edt. It’s a floriental, rather than a BWF, but there’s definitely tuberose in it. The modern stuff is pretty great (especially for the price—$7 for one ounce at TJ Maxx), but I remember it being richer in the 80s. It’s nearly gone now, and I think Phoenix Botanicals Night Bloom will be my bedtime scent. It is a BWF, but orange blossom and jasmine rather than tuberose and gardenia. Will two half-credits make a whole?
Happy weekend, everyone.
