It's Friday, and even better, it's the first Friday in Peach Month! Our community project for today: wear a peach fragrance.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
It was sheer luck that I found my Parfums de Nicolaï L’Eau à la Folie fairly quickly last night, because it was not where it should have been. Anyway, I do smell peachy.
Reminder: on 8/10, wear a fragrance by Atelier Cologne, Acqua di Parma or Amouage, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter A.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Since I finished Tresor yesterday and I was too lazy to try to find another one and Robin’s post on vanilla yesterday I was inspired to drain my sample of Winter Woods….thunk 🙂
Coincidentally I wore WW and Incense Pure (one on each wrist) at bedtime last night, and it was the first time I’ve been able to smell the vanilla in WW.
I bet you smelled great last night!!!! Did you get the last of her bottles? I am smelling my wrist now and WW is definitely all about the vanilla on my skin….it is so good!
I got one of her last 10 bottles of Incense Pure, but the Winter Woods that I have is a travel-size spray from a year or so ago. So funny that you get All The Vanilla, and I have to compare it directly against something else to be able to smell vanilla at all.
My skin always amps up sweet notes so that must be why 🙂
Winter Woods is the only SSS scent I was able to try – I’m saving my last little bit for cooler weather.
It really is a cool/cold weather scent but I enjoy it in the heat too.
Have finished off my Zoologist samples! My, but they were generously-sized.
#TEAMUSEITUP 🙂
Great!
THUNK! Fantastic! Keep going! 😀
Hee hee…you too!!! we are great cheerleaders, eh?
Queen Latifah.”Clunk”
Wow, another full bottle!
OMG!!!! You finished Queen???? hats off to you!
That was a long messy grammatically incorrect sentence but I know y’all get what I was trying to say.
TGIF
I got it just fine!
Femme Rochas
That was on my short list.
The lamentably discontinued CSP Vanille Peach, sharper than their celebrated Vanille Abricot but also less sweet so there’s no chance of being cloying, perfectly acceptable for a hot sunny day such as this one.
Sort of changing the subject a bit, but have you tried the Vanilla Banane?
Not the most recent iteration, but I had a sample of it way back when, and it made me laugh out loud — it’s just so unexpected and ridiculous and fun. I can’t imagine wearing it but I’m glad it exists.
Thanks! I am really tempted by the travel spray at Sephora.
FM Le Parfum de Thérèse. Not a fresh peach smell but there is fruit in there somewhere. 🙂
It’s melon, right? the fruit in there? how do you like it?
Yes, which normally I can’t stand, but it’s subtle enough that it is wearable for me.
I will try that one next time I head back to SAKS in the city 🙂
Totally agree. The armani put me off melon, until Therese came along.Subtle enough to add a watercolor effect to the big picture
Me three. One of the few melon-heavy scents I love.
Scent twin! I couldn’t find peach so I also went with fruits. 🙂
I have, however, been eating a peach almost every day this week!
I am blissing out in Fusion Sacree Obscur and just about to make a peach-and-blueberry pie, my favourite kind in the world.
Your pie sounds wonderful!
Yum! My dad loved peach pie, and we both especially loved peach and apricot. Peach and blueberry sounds delicious ????
Tresor!!!!! Beautiful
yes it is and you smell great!!!
You smell great!
I do, if I can say so myself!
yes, you do smell beautiful! Tresor was one of my pre-obsession perfumes that I wore in college
Scent triplet, I think? Or maybe quadruplet?
Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey for the CP. I like but I do not love it. Definitely a pretty scent, but I keep smelling something slightly artificial in it.
Agree. Like but not love.
I’m in Jil Sander No. 4 (spell-check tried to change that to “Oil Sander” – wrong ambience altogether) today. This was my daily monogamous
‘fume love back when I first met Mr. G, but I don’t wear it often anymore. It IS quite lovely, in a 90s kind of way.
I’ve never smelled No 4, but Jil Sander Pure was one of my few bottles in the early 2000s pre-rabbit hole.
Casmir is the only perfume in my small collection that has peach in it, but since I don’t wear that one to work….L’eau d’Hiver is my sotd.
You smell wonderful. I love that one.
Thank you!
Slumberhouse Kiste.
The wildly boozy bourbon note had put me off before–every time I opened the sample vial and got a whiff of that, I put it away. But that vanishes within the first two minutes on my skin, and it’s rolling around voluptously in the imaginary sunshine, all honey and peach and tobacco. It’s surprised me. I thought I would hate this. Now I’m slightly fretful I only have half a tiny sample vial left.
That sounds great, bourbon and all 🙂
It’s absolutely lush, and I’m lemming like anything. And this is inconvenient given that there is precisely nowhere in this country that sells Slumberhouse, even if I was planning on buying anything right now…
Kiste was so bourbony on me my husband told me it smelled like I had just finished a two-day bender. It was just too much. It barely smelled like a hint of bourbon on the friend who received the sample from me. Oh well.
If that top note lasted on me, Kiste would be unbearable for that very reason! Shame it was so full on bender with you, because the rest is delicious
You smell great. I love Kiste, but yes it is boozy. Definitely NSFW, unless work involves selling or distilling spirits.
NSFW? oops. Too late. Swanned around all day in this.
(I don’t work in anything related, but I do live in an old whisky bond warehouse…)
I had forgotten L’Eau a la Folie had peach in it! Thanks for the reminder, Robin! I went ahead and spritzed that. It’s odd, too…I wasn’t in love with it when I bought it, but it smells just right today, and more complex than I remember it being, but not too much for the heat and humidity. Not sure if the scent changed (my bottle is a few years old, so maybe it deepened a bit) or if my tastes did, but we’re getting along ???? today.
I have the same feelings but each, I couldn’t find my bottle. It nearly got the ax but umm maybe it did get the ax because it was not in it’s usual spot this morning.
A very belated hey twin!
Wearing my favorite peachy scent – HdP 1969. I also get a raspberry note in the opening. I’m eager to try Keiko Mecheri’s Peau de Peche as well – it’s on my decant list.
Heading out for a brief family vacation in a few hours – hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
1969 was on my list from Fragrantica! Never got around to wearing it, though. You smell great. Have a wonderful weekend!
Enjoy your vacation!
Have a great trip!
Safe travels!
Happy trails!
Mitsouko edt.
Nice choice! I’m thinking of switching to this later in the day, when it’s a hair cooler.
I’m officially peachy today in the original Chloé, from a mini I found in an antique shop on Wednesday night. We were down in town for a tea tasting, and had some time to shop. Hubster was a bit amazed that I found perfume in what was really a junk shop. ????
This is really lovely in the drydown, once it gets there, but sweet during the first hour or so. Me likey.
Nice find!
Tell hubster that you have developed perfume radar 🙂
Ha, yeah! Somehow, I don’t think he appreciates that particular superpower. ????
The original Chloe from the late 70s? I have the pure perfume somewhere in the basement…did not know it had peach. I have a few drops left and could have worn it today.
I suspect it is from the 80’s. There are two bottles like mine on eBay, and they are both listed as ‘vintage 80’s’ parfum minis. Hexagonal flattish bottles with a peach colored round plastic stopper, with the Chloé label reading vertically up the front of the bottle.
Maybe someone can confirm it for us. There’s definitely a lot of peach, ylang and honeysuckle. Tuberose also, but I try to ignore that part. ????
Oh yeah that’s the one…you scored a good one!!!
I loved that one so much. (Unfortunately it’s still associated with high school in my mind, so I don’t wear it now. But man, I had good taste back in the day!)
Totally understand. I don’t think I want to wear Sweet Honesty, either. You clearly had better taste at age 17 than I did!
great find!
Congrats on the antiquing find!
SOTD is Casmir, the only scent I own that I know has a note of peach. I’m sure I could find another, but I’m too lazy for that this morning.
No need to search for another; Casmir is wonderful.
You smell wonderful!
Scent twins!
I intended to wear peach today, really I did! But the Thrill of the Thunk overcame me when i spotted two very nearly empty vials: Jul et Mad Terrasse à St. Germaine and TF Ombre Leather 16. Yep, I put em on and off the vials went. The St. Germaine is no match for the Leather; shoulda worn it by itself, but oh well. I do love the Leather, and will eventually get around to smelling the new Signature version of it.
To my nose, the new Ombré Leather is almost exactly the same as the old one.
Good to know; thanks!
“the thrill of the THUNK overcame me”….love this! We are THUNK twins this morning.
“Are you ready for this?… Another one bites the dust!”
😉 LOL!!!
Ohhhhh perfect soundtrack for our little project!!
🙂
THUNK! CLUNCK! PLUNK! Well done! ????
That’s great! Made me literally laugh out loud..
😀 😀
I had to smile at “the Thrill of the Thunk”! I don’t experience it often, but I do understand it.
I don’t have anything peachy (or fruity actually) so – apricot in PdN Juste un reve . Now I’m wondering how come I don’t have much fruity fragrance.
I have less peach than I ought to!
Vintage Mitsouko extrait today. One of my favorite chypres, and surprisingly easy for me to wear. I was very lucky to find this bottle, though one day I’m hoping to find a full one…. 😉
You smell amazing.
I chose Divine by Divine for some peach along with white flowers.
Interesting – on me it smelled exactly like orange candy.
Chinatown! And for good measure a drop of Caligna
Nice, figured we’d see Chinatown today.
I’m with monica404 in not having fruity perfumes. I’m off today and having a lazy morning but I just had a sotd idea – Badgley Mischka body lotion. The perfume is discontinued, I owned a bottle and swapped it away, it was gorgeously fruity but I just didn’t wear it and I have an appointment today that calls for something quiet – Gucci Rush was fun to wear yesterday but it would be too much for today. Happy Friday everyone 🙂
I have a Badgley Mischka mini! Totally forgot about that one.
Scent twins — I was going to wear Rush but decided on Badgley Mischka instead.
I saved the Queen of Peaches for today, so I’m wearing Mitsouko.
I once met a finalist for Penticton Peach Princess (a lady-in-waiting?) – I also found out that levity about this title was NOT appreciated…
Peau de Peche today. Happy Friday!
Happy Friday!
That’s my best peach scent, you smell great. 🙂
Yum!
Wearing vintage Mitsouko edp and hoping it behaves enough that I don’t get the garbage dump funk that I eventually get in the modern version. We will see.
You just scared me from wanting to try it!
Good luck haha!
I’m wearing Desert Rose by Dame Perfumery. It does have peach in it, quite a lot actually. It confuses me a bit because what kind of desert has peaches? At any rate, I really like it and when I drain my very generous spray sample I may buy a full bottle. It also fits in my mini-theme of “I hate humidity and wish I was in the desert” – Mojave Ghost on Wednesday, Arizona yesterday and Deer Rose today. I’m going to continue with some Tauers over the weekend.
Have a fabulous Friday!
Deer rose? Where did that come from?
Autocorrect strikes again!
ah yes! Forgot that there was peach in Desert Rose. And thanks for the reminder I have a large decant of Mojave Ghost which will get some serious skin time starting tomorrow (or maybe tonight!)
Ahhh. Now I understand why Desert Rose didn’t work for me. 😉
I actually live in the Mojave, and I can assure you that you don’t want to be here right now, dry heat or no. 🙂
No peaches but citrus magnolia in Guerlain L’instant
Citrus magnolia is good too 🙂
I am wearing L’Occitane Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc, drinking lemon ginger tea, and listening to Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel 2018
Broadway cast recording 🙂
Fun morning!
Great! An excuse to wear Shangri La (as though I need an excuse to wear something I love so much)!
I’ve seen this compared to Mitsouko which somehow I’ve only tried once, and that was a sample that I’m quite sure was off as it smelled like gasoline. I have a mission this weekend to try some fresh stuff.
You’ve got a neroli coming your way – or is it orange blossom?
Roger & Gallet The Fantaisie and Tubereuse Hédonie…both are lovely.
Happy Friday!
Oh, very lovely!
Mitsouko, because it’s going to be a loooong day and Mitsouko makes me feel like a warrior 🙂
Go get ’em!
As much as I love peach scents, I’ve failed completely on the CP this week. Ah well. SOTD is Byredo Pulp, Just Because.
I read a lovely book on peach farming a few years back: “Epitaph For a Peach”, by David Mas Masumoto. Highly recommend it.
Pulp is fruity so that counts in my book 😉
Epitaph for a Peach sounds like a good name for a perfume.
Pulp is a great summer scent.
Turns out I have quite a few peachy smelling things. I’m wearing a general misting of Roger & Gallet Fleur d’Osmanthus with a spritz of L’Eau a la Folie on each wrist. I also have a spritz of Jardin de Ecrivains Marlowe on the back of my hand. I haven’t worn this much (and it was this perfume that made me promise to never get 100ml bottles anymore).
I do like it- similar to the PdN in feel. It’s peachy with a bit of a cool, dankness from frankincense.
100ml bottles are so annoying. They make perfume feel like homework.
I was originally going to wear PdN L’Eau a la Folie but my bottle is MIA!
Maybe my dad stole it 😉
Shangri La, just two small spritzes, for cozy, peachy, warmth. I really enjoyed smelling myself as I drove to work in the drizzle.
When I hear the words Shangri La, I always think of Jem and the Holograms. It was my favorite show as a little girl and there was an episode where the ladies went in search of Shangri La. It stands out as my favorite episode even.
Shangri La is my son’s favorite scent – he is only 9 but already has a good nose!
“Shangri La” always makes me think of the movie Lost Horizon. I was utterly enchanted by that movie as a young girl. I think it gave me my life-long desire to travel and see new places.
Jem! That was my nieces favorite show. We used to play with the dolls together
I have several peach scents in my collection, but as I want to dual sync with Basenotes Friday sync ( Bertrand D day ) I’m going to do one of my favorite layerings.
For the Peach – Lady Stetson ( about 15 -20 cologne sprays)
For Bertrand D- CDG Avignon ( 1-2 sprays) .
Still debating this though, I might do the combo this evening and pick a straight up peach like Gwen Stefani L Lamb for the work shift I was called in for.
Nice, all bases covered! Too bad BD did not do more peach.
No peaches today. Instead tried the third sample from Ormonde Jayne, Ta`if. Its really good, but my love goes for Frangipani and Ormonde Woman (sample number two), amazing scent. The next and last will be Champaca, tomorrow.
I saw her interview and read everything I could find, its a great story and I can’t wait to visit her store in London or New York.
Any other OJ scents Im missing?
Frangipani, Woman, and Champaca are my favorites. But I also love Isfarkand and Tolu.
They are all good imho. That OJ base just really works with my skin. Osmanthus is very pretty and summery, the far dry down reminds me of Woman.
Tolu and Osmanthus are on the list before I decide which one to buy!
Luckyscent has great discovery sets available.(Not to enable or anything????).
Update. Ta if is gorgeous, it has developed into something soooo good.
Ta’if is so good! it’s so reliably good – I want a bottle, but am saving my $$
Ha, was just coming down here to say give Ta’if another shot, it’s a sleeper…
SOTD: Tresor body cream (from a friend) because it is easy and lovely and yes I am wearing at work! Perfect for the cooler temps today!
Bonus: I made cardamom ice cream last night and had it with fresh sliced peaches.
Cardamom ice-cream sounds so yummy!
Come over!
I would have been scent twins with you today but I wore Tresor all week and sprayed lavishly so my travel spray was done yesterday. I bet the body cream is decadent! and that ice cream sounds amazing! I used to sprinkle ground cardamom on top of vanilla bean ice cream but your way is even better!!!
It’s really fun playing with the ice cream maker this hot summer! Mine is a vegan custard base, made with soy milk and coconut milk. I heat a couple of cardamom pods in soy milk, then add a bit of salt, maple syrup and date paste to sweeten and cornstarch to thicken. Once cooled, I then whip this with coconut cream (the stuff in the can) and then process in the ice cream maker for about 10-15 minutes.
Ohhhh, Tresor body cream? Is it still in production? I think I need this in my life.
**Runs off to Lancome.com to investigate.
Here it is. Mine is a dollop from a friend:
https://www.macys.com/shop/product/lancome-tresor-body-lotion-6.7-oz?ID=744
Thanks! 🙂 Enabler pin awarded.
its sold out on Lancome website…did you buy their entire stock SmokeyToes?
Drats! Nope.
I was late on the draw on that one. I’ll run off to the discount sites to check there.
Oh, yum! I love cardamom ice cream. A place near me used to have pistachio cardamom ice cream that I was addicted to.
Oh that sounds LOVELY. I made a Persian inspired pastry with pistachios and cardamom; I can only imagine how lovely this ice cream must have tasted!
There’s a pizza place near me that makes the most delicious soft serve pistachio ice cream. It has a hint of spices, and now I’m wondering if it has cardamom.
If you enjoy cardamon ice cream, have you tried a Persian Love Cake? I had it once at a friend’s wedding, it was so fragrant and tasty.
Recipe link is below.
https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/persian-love-cake-232273
Wow, that sounds so good and unusual, and they make it look so pretty!
Well I enjoyed the No. 22 so much yesterday that I went with it again today. Trying to pick out peach but not having much luck. I do love it, though!
Happy Friday, friends!
Your mention of it yesterday had me wearing last evening. So pretty!
I resprayed tonight…I’m loving it so much the last couple of days.
I have yet to try that one…what is it like?
To me, it’s all aldehydes and white flowers for the most part. It’s funny, though, I don’t think I would have liked it a year ago. The aldehydes would have scared me off haha. My tastes have evolved though and I love it now.
i have never gotten peach from 22-vanilla, rose, and incense, yes, but never peach!
Wonderful perfume.
I haven’t worn No.22 in ages! Must rectify!
Hi everyone and TGIF!
Today’s SOTD is Arpege Eclat d’Arpege, which has a lovely lilac, peony, green tea and peach blossom note. 🙂
Thank goodness we’re to Friday, it’s been an especially crazy week at work.
Woo hoo, TGIF!
Headed out tonight to dinner at our favorite Burmese restaurant in Burlingame (Mingalaba) and then a movie. I adore their spicy asparagus with tofu and coconut rice. I try to avoid grains in general but tonight will be a treat, their coconut rice is delicious!
YUM !!!!
Zomg Burmese food sounds incredible. I’ve never had it but I love Malaysian and Sri Lankan and bet it falls somewhere on that spectrum.
Their tea leaf salad is also super delicious!
I think it’s very similar to Sri Lankan and Malaysian food, the SF/Bay area has no shortage of great restaurants. Indian is also a favorite of mine.
Happy Friday! I brought home a whole bunch of peaches from the farmer’s market yesterday, and now must figure out what to do with them. I’m thinking either a peach crisp or several days worth of peaches & cream overnight oats.
SOTD: Phoenix Botanicals Peach Tree Garden again. This time, layered with Sandalwood-Citrus Zum Mist.
What are peaches and cream overnight oats?
Here’s a basic recipe for overnight oats:
https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/overnight-oats-3416659
You can flavor them with really any fruits you want, so I’d go with peaches and cream!
Wow that looks good…will forward this to my son..he likes to experiment with new recipes….
That sounds like a great idea!
Which farmers market did you go to? And which is your favorite? I’m planning on going to the Shaker Square one tomorrow, though I’ve made that plan for a couple of weeks now and still haven’t made it. 😉
I frequent the North Union farmer’s market at University Hospital on Thursdays. I haven’t made it out to the Shaker market either, but it sounds like a good one! I’m busy tomorrow, but email me if you want to go together sometime.
Sotd: YSL Champagne
Cheers!
Cheers to you, Laura! You smell fabulous.
Thanks you!
Cheers!????????
Aye ????????
Champagne.
Delicious.
Hmm. I only have 2 peach scented things, and it’s a little to hot today for Empressa. So I’ll be wearing Victoria Secret Beach Sands lotion, to participate this week. Happy day all!
And to you!
I dug out a sample of Gucci Rush for my Friday peach blast. Could not wear this regularly – holy peach powder, Batman.
That strong eh??
I recently tried Gucci Bamboo and it was quite nice, not FB though.
In Biehl PC01, which supposedly has fruit even though it’s pretty grassy on me.
At first, I didn’t see the r in grassy.
Lol!
Ooooops! ????
according to the internet, chanel allure has peach, so…~vintage allure parfum. my particular bottle has broken top notes but it has settled down nicely.
Allure is very peachy to me. I scored a vintage bottle from my sister and quite love it.
Oh my, at first I thought ‘vintage Allure? But it wasn’t released that long ago, I got some when it was a new release’. Then realized that was a long time ago. I really am getting old. ????
that’s what i thought too! i feel weird calling something from the 90s vintage. if you ask me, the 90s were only ten years ago!
Wow, Allure is nearly 20 years old!
Joining you in feeling old. I’ve had a few “hey kids get off my lawn” moments. 🙂
My mom has been wearing since it came out haha. I can’t make her wear anything else! But I always think she smells great.
SotAM = L’Heure Bleue edt
SotPm = No. 5 edp
Good morning, NSTers, today I did the thing where I stand in front of the perfume bottles and let my hand wander over them until something pulls me in. It’s perfumed dowsing, I guess.
My hand was drawn to L’Heure Bleue, maybe because peachy Mitsouko shares the same style of bottle, or more likely because L’Heure Bleue calls to mind the feel of the soft downy fuzz of a peach. Lovely No. 5’s peachy-aldehydes are on tap for tonight.
A favorite recipe for peaches:
https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/3783-original-plum-torte
I love this recipe with ripe peaches. Have also made it with Italian plums, nectarines, pitted cherries, blueberries, apple chunks, or thin sliced pears. The recipe suggests a springform pan, but it is perfectly delicious baked in a buttered pie plate or square baking dish. There is something magical about carefully (or haphazardly!) laying the fruit on top then watching it meld with the batter as it bakes. Try it! You’ll be delighted, I promise. 😀
I will live vicariously through your baking.
You smell wonderful. Is yours modern or vintagey?
Ha! We should start an NST cooking/baking chaIlenge, a match the perfume to the recipe kind of thing, to encourage culinary effort. I used to bake a lot but not lately. When the weather cools in the fall I hope to get back to using the oven.
My L’HB edt is modern, bought a few years ago. I like it very much in summer weather, about three spritzes is perfect. Though it has a reputation for fustiness the edt never overwhelms me. I love the florals. Even if I didn’t love the scent so much I’d still want the bottle, the shape is so pretty.
I never thought of LHB as fusty. It is very much a scent of its time, but there is also something timeless about it to me. Just my $0.02 worth.
Completely agree, I don’t get the fusty note either. It’s a thing of beauty, a classic for sure. 😀
I had originally intended to wear Péché Cardinal, which is a peach smothered in white florals or white florals smothered by giant peaches, but have instead chosen the lovely and wistful Chant d´Arômes. A gentle aldehydic floral with some peach.
Gorgeous! A perfect choice. 🙂
In the original Omnia today, which had somehow tipped over and was sitting on its head. Due to the superior bottle design, it leaked all over. *sigh* ????
Dang that bottle!
ouch! maybe upside down it’s an Omnia air freshener? sorry about the leak, a perfume-lover’s worst fear.
I discovered my Van Cleef and Arpels Midnight in Paris was leaking! So annoyed!Right at the silver rim around the bottle.Urgh.
Your air quality (at least the smell part) just improved!
That Omnia bottle is a PITA, isn’t it?
TGIF!
Tresor on my right arm and Byredo Pulp on the left. I just needed to keep myself awake and active and those 2 heavy, but beautiful perfumes are helping me accomplish the task. No THUNK today, but tomorrow I will be back to the USE IT UP project. Counting the days to finish what is left of summer samples. Feeling so good about it!
Hi, I am twins with you on one arm.
Hi, half twin! We smell wonderful! ????
I saw what time you finished work last night! I’m wishing you a fabulous and relaxing weekend ????
Thank you Lillyjo! It was a rough day. Hope to be home earlier tonight. ????
Like lillyjo I also saw what time you finished last night!!! I hope you can get through the day with your sillage monsters to keep you awake and then have a blissful and relaxing weekend…you deserve it!!!!
I think those sillage monsters have also prevented some “annoying” people to approach me today with their nonsense. LOL! I should wear them more often!!!
Looking forward to pleasant weekend, even though it will be a busy one.
Ha ha ha!!! Do it then…gorgeous perfume worn as “annoying people repellent”
It has worked well for me ????
GoGoGo M!I’m superproud of myself for finishing some perfumes as well. Finally!Hope you have a good weekend!x
Thank you Johanob! Doing my best to finish the most I can. You too enjoy your weekend!
Hello, half twin! You are smelling great today… love both Pulp and Tresor!
We smelled wonderful for sure! ????
Again with the Calice Becker version of Ines de la Fressange. My bottle’s getting low, so maybe I will attempt a THUNK with this one soon.
do it do it do it!!!! finish it up 😉
…only because I have a backup of this one. 😀 I love it and I’m sad it’s d/c.
I think if you have a backup it is perfectly fine to THUNK.
SOTD = DSH Scent of Hope
Peachy aldehydes with buttery Iris. I really should wear this more often!
Commuting Woes No. 442
Subtitle: Bad habits of ordinary people while commuting.
I’ve already mentioned manspreading, nose-picking, removing shoes and/or putting feet up on seats. The other day, someone was scratching her head, then looked intently at the fingers that did the scratching AND then smelled said fingers; rinse and repeat. Thank goodness I didn’t see picking the nails and eating whatever substance was found there.
Your perfume sounds really nice. The comuting woes… not so much!
I agree! I hope you are feeling better!
Yeah NY/NJ subways and trains are annoying – you get to observe a lot ;). How is the staying power for Scent of Hope? I have been debating getting it, but man, the price tag on it gives me shivers.
I have not decanted as the bottle is really special. So unlike most of my splash perfumes where U decant to atomizers, I dab this. So far so good with the longevity.
Scent of Hope is nice. Very sheer on me, though, so I didn’t buy any.
Sheer is why it works well in the summer but it also has enough body for the other seasons!
OMG no.JUST.NO.I get the convenience of a good public transport system, but coping with THAT type of behavior would drive me insane.
When I tell my mom about all the disgusting things that I observe, she says I should never eat in a restaurant and should just take a car service to work everyday.
Scent of Hope is beautiful. Great choice for the project!
Thanks.
Given all that you have mentioned as commuting woes, maybe that’s why Mr. Jalapeno brought a book to read when he took the train in to Philly to work?
Ha! Maybe!
Oh my gosh!!! That is so gross!
There are grosser things that I can’t write here as they could be misconstrued.
My peach is Casmir parfum. The little purse spray is ancient, I bought it when Casmir was originally released, went through one in about a month, and bought this second one immediately after. It’s a bit much in summer but I still love it in winter.
Casmir is on my list of classics to sniff
It’s a classic, but not “dated ” at all.
Casmir is definitely worth checking out.
Casmir is opulence in a bottle. You smell marvelous. 😉
Oh such a goody!!LOVELOVE❤️❤️
I put on a small spray of Rush this morning for the project. It’s already worn off, and I won’t reaply because I’m just not feeling well. I just want to get through work and go to bed. Hoping it’s just a matter of needing some rest. You all smell wonderful.
feel better lillyjo
Thanks CM8.
You must be exhausted. Feel better. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.
Rest for both of us is in order, for sure.
Hope you feel better ASAP!I forgot I have Rush, and I almost never wear it!
Thank you. I much prefer Rush in the cooler months.
Feel better quickly, lillyjo!
You mentioned needing to find a hinding place for gifts – maybe do a Kanuka and keep them inside boots? Or how about in the pockets of winter-wear?
Ha! I used to hide “mad money” in my boots. Last month when I was taking them to donation, I had to check every pair to make sure there wasn’t money left behind. I was, of course hoping to find some ????
I hope that you feel better tomorrow. Take care!
Thanks Petunia.
Oh no! So sorry to hear that you aren’t feeling well today lillyjo. As I recall, you had a late night last night. I hope that you are feeling better tomorrow.
Hope you get some rest and feel better soon.
I am in Taureville’s Fruitchouli (spelling?). Tons of peach 😉
Oh, good one! I generally can’t do peach notes (or apricot or osmanthus) but quite liked Fruitchuli when I sampled it.
I gave my bottle to Sajini!
Haha! Yes you did!! You gave me a lot of things over the years hajusuuri for which I am very greatful (You got my bottle of Bvlgari au the vert but I had the feeling it was just a mercy shag)
Fruitchouli Flash is languishing in Boston or I would be wearing it today!
SOTE: Still sampling Chypre Mousse. I guess it’s what a mummified peach from a canopic jar might smell like.
I ❤️ Chypre Mousse. You may want to check out Twisted Lily – 20% off with code VIPSUMMER with some exclusions; ends August 6. Splitmeet is coming up and it is easy to split since it is a splash bottle with a replaceable atomizer.
As to the Au The Vert, I had been eyeing it from Sephora but just never triggered a buy so yours was timely!
Not even peach-adjacent in Copal Azur. I really live this stuff — for the first couple of hours then it starts to wear me out a bit. Money saved, perhaps, as I have been contemplating buying the travel set.
Enjoy the weekend, all!
Maybe you need to wear it when it’s colder out?
Liz Taylor Diamonds & Rubies – super peachy rose!
I recently signed up for Audible, and was perusing their recommendations today and saw…
The Case Against Fragrance by Kate Greenville
just released 8/1 so I can’t imagine anyone has read it, but I’m curious!?! I wonder if it is more conjecture or science.
I read it. She discovered that fragrance ( in general,,,cleaning products to perfume ) gave her headaches and made her feel unwell. She found a survey that supported her belief that most people have, at one time or another, experienced health issues as a result of being exposed to fragrance. This led to an examination of the saturation of fragrance in modern society, the dangers to our health caused by “dangerous” perfume chemicals, the ‘shady’ business of fragrance labelling and lack of transparency and lack of proper monitoring of the perfume industry. This led to the conclusion that fragrance is harmful and should probably be banned from public places….I followed up on the papers she cited etc. and there were some quite big leaps in the way she interpretated the ‘facts’. I don’t doubt that perfume makes her feel ill. The book did irritate me a little …how perfume can be identified as a problem ( and not, say, general air pollution) Her novels are more interesting though….Australian.
Kanuka, thank you so much for this synopsis. I had not heard of this book before. It sounds like an idea that would be better suited to writing an article, rather a book but that’s my opinion
It’s not a terrible book because it’s well written arises from a genuine, personal interest in the subject but it didn’t persuade me. But the science and statistics are not very convincing. I expect that many of us could say we felt nauseous after thirty minutes in a Lush shop but it might be a stretch to say that perfume therefore makes us sick. She also delves into the link between fragrance and hormonal problems. There was an interview with her onthe radio here. I will see if I can find it.
https://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/ninetonoon/audio/201831283/should-fragrance-be-regulated
The interview is about 10 minutes long
The book came out last year in print
There are several NPR episodes on perfume bans. Here’s one:

Kate Greenville is a very talented novelist but I’m not going to be reading this foray into non-fiction
Kate Greenville would not enjoy a stay in my home. ????
No. There’s a certain degree of Better Call Saul’s brother Charles in the book. At the start of the book she tapes up the area between her hotel door and the door frame to keep out the smell (a diffuser,I think) in her hotel because it makes her ill. One of the things that I couldn’t understand is the way perfume can be isolated as the culprit for a headache…in some instances I think things liked tiredness, stress, dehydration, allergies, air quality, over-work, heat, loud noises might also have something to do with it? But, she mentions being at the opera and being forced out by a person wearing perfume (Angel?) and I can get that. I also don’t understand why the chemical compounds scenting natural materials are not a problem, only in synthetic materials. Or how hormone disruption can be attached to perfume but not to other medications, foods etc. I read the book quite carefully as I was going to review it for a medical/literature blog for the university. So, I checked the research and asked for help with the findings from a couple of scientists. I didn’t write about it in the end. I am not the target audience. The book did make me think about the way I wear perfume and its impact on others.
I haven’t watched better call Saul, but these are all very interesting points. It sounds like the author has some serious environmental sensitivities, and is also a talented researcher and writer – a book was inevitable ????
This article offers an interesting approach to the problem:

I have nothing peachy with me. At home I have Mitsuko and a very cheap peachy rose scent I got at Walmart created by Calice Becker.
I’m doing last minute packing of things I’m keeping that belonged my parents. I have to be discerning because of space issues and cost of shipping (one too low and one too high.). My Mom sold Avon and also got a bunch of mini scents over the years. I was going to toss them, but now I think I’ll keep some. If only for the collector minis (shapes include snail amd mouse)
Long way around of saying I pawed through and and saw that Avon Charisma has peach! Top notes are pretty well gone, but I splashed some anyway. It’s quite nice. I’ll probably just finish it off the rest of the day.
She has Pleasures and Beautiful in minis also, as well as DKNY Pure.
The Avon solid figurals are so cute. I have a green owl but don’t know which perfume is in there!
I was not in the mood for peach today.
SotD Eau des merveilles bleue (Hermès)
SotE Hinoki (CdG)
And yay fridaay!!!!
I kicked off the weekend with a glass of witbier (wheat/white beer? I Dont know exact translation)
and a portion of ‘bitterballen’ (cant think of a translation either, but i know they have an english wikipdia page haha – called Bitterballen, of course).
Have a great weekend everyone!
Witbier,is that like Milk stout?
No, witbier is a style of wheat beer.
Not to be confused with Weizen/weissbier. 🙂
This beer is perfect for summer, it has a fresh citrusy/herbal taste to it, sometimes with hints of elderflower and/or coriander.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheat_beer#Witbier
Hoegaarden is a very famous white beer. My favourite witbier is Korenwolf.
Oh cool!Thank you Jiji!????✌????
Btw, i never tried milk stout. Have you?
Yes I have! It’s quite malty, but I enjoy a stout every now and again.
Jiji, in my experience, a milk stout is a dark, slightly to somewhat sweet, malty, and heavy bodied beer. Not something I would enjoy in hot summer weather. Delicious in cold and wet weather, though.
On the other hand, now is the perfect time for a witbier or hefeweizen! ????
Something called Simply Belle that FragranceNet sent me a free sample of. It starts out with peach and orange as advertised, then disappears. I won’t be buying any.
I’ve been watching a BBC series called “Desperate Romantics”, about the Pre-Raphaelites. The major reason to watch it is Aidan Turner as Rossetti, looking exactly the way Rossetti should have and didn’t. A fine addition to the collection of bad boys that are fun to contemplate from a distance but that you wouldn’t want in real life.
Mmm. Aidan Turner. 🙂
such enjoyably pretty nonsense, isn’t it?
Forgot that I hadn’t put on perfume today. I just finished applying vintage Mitsouko extrait.
How are your parents doing?
Eau Moheli , a beautiful gentle ylang ylang for the third day of mist and rain.
Happy FriYAY Y’all! 🙂
Finally got around to posting a peach scent! Decided to go with Chanel Allure EdT. I love it, but it doesn’t stick around very long on my skin. Maybe I should try the EdP some time!
You should. I spray the edp pretty lightly, otherwise it’s a little overwhelming.
I haven’t read everyone else’s comments yet. But playing along in Tresor by Lancome, which has peach notes (according to Fragrantica). I can’t actually smell any peach in this.
I wore J’Adore yesterday, because Fragrantica again said it had peach notes, and while it was definitely fruity floral, I could not distinguish peach from anything else in there.
Hello scent twin!
Just got home and did an experiment with some almond oil and a few sprays of Terracotta to try as an oil version (for tomorrow). Got waaaay too much oil, so to counter the oil volume I had to overspray the Terracotta into the oil. It might just work.
I also found my ages old body spray of Victoria’s Secret Love Spell, it’s supposed to have peach? Just gave myself a few sprays of that as well. Soon driving off with the in-laws for the weekend so I can’t be too scenty right now.
Have a great weekend everyone!
I heard or saw or read somewhere that spraying perfume on skin first, then coating with the oil was effective in making the perfume longer-lasting – not sure what your goal is tomorrow – but good luck!
Thank you.. great tip. I’m trying to layer but not be too scenty for an outdoor wedding as it’s supposed to be hot. Plus it’s being held at an ornamental garden so I don’t want to attract a bunch of wasps and other critters.
It sounds lovely, I hope you find that right combination and have a wonderful time ????
I do the opposite…apply oil…let it sink in ..then spray with perfume…
The only really peachy thing I have is Rochas Femme, and you really don’t want to sit next to me in Florida’s swampy heat if I’m wearing it. It is overwhelming and not in an unexpectedly delightful way. So I ended up with a thorough spritzing of Fragonard Verveine (note to chocolatemarzipan: I’m using this up the way you went through Assam of India that summer!).
Ha !!! You go!!! I think Verveine is a PERFECT scent to wear for an entire summer!! I am glad that you blind bought that bottle after Kevin’s review…you are really enjoying it 🙂
Queen Latifah is NO MORE.”Thunk” CM8-style….lol.
There could be peach in it,who knows.Lol.
Actually it is not a thunked bottle:I have a wonderful patient, who due to some unexplained skin condition lost most of her vision as well.Thank God for science, because we were able to do an implant of a tiny telescope-thingy for her, which lead to her regaining vision of about 45%.She started to collect perfume bottles, which she keeps in all the sunniest places around her house, because she LOVES seeing the colors and kaleidoscopes as the sun shines on them.Of course all my empties go straight to her,and I now have another batch of lovelies for her to play with.
You all smell FABULOUS!
Happy Weekend!
The color of the sky is changing.Spring is upon us,and I cannot wait.
X
How great is that? And what an amazing way to use bottles!
Glad that Spring is finding it’s way to you!
It is wonderful to see her excitement when she comes to collect them!
And Hell Yeah for Spring around the corner!
Thanks for making me cry, Johano!
❤️❤️I’ll tell you her whole story one day, quite remarkable.
Congrats on finishing another bottle and thank you for telling us the heartwarming story!
Thank you hajusuuri. After years and years of hoarding and not really getting the full joy of my perfumes, this year has been wonderfully fragrant!❤️✌????
Such a beautiful story Johanob. ❤Thank you for sharing it. It touched my heart deeply.
And YAY!!!! for another bottle finished! Keep going my friend!
Thank you M!Still going strong with the USEITUPCLUB!????❤️✌????
All the smiles and hugs are for you. 😀 😀 😀
*Hugs Back*
That is just the loveliest story. *tears up* Thanks for sharing with us and with her.
Of course.Perfume touches people on so many levels, even an empty “thunk”-candidate can bring the most joy to someone else.
What an awesome thing to do with your empty bottles, johanob! Repurposing and bringing joy to someone in the process. ????
Yes,it’s upcycling of the best kind, right?❤️
Oh johanob, I hope you will read this because I want to tell you how much I love what you are doing with your empties!!!!! Beautiful, absolutely beautiful, on many levels 🙂
❤️Of course I read on Saturdays what happened afters on Fridays!Hehe!Thank you CM8!❤️
Thank you guys for your wonderful messages!I’ll show this to Mrs.K as well,to show her the love in our community of perfumed people. The little things:never take it for granted.
❤️❤️
I have only 2 perfumes with peach notes and both happens to be Kilian. SOTD is Flower of Immorality, and 1 spray of Forbidden Games on the right arm. FG is a power house and 1 spray is enough in a hot and humid day. I can still smell the peaches on my right arm after 8 hrs.
Not related to CP – My dear NSTers, any recommendations for fragrances shopping in Barcelona? Anything you would recommend bring back from Spain that’s hard to get in NA (I am in Canada)?
I won a sample of Flower if Immortality at Perfume Posse. It went poof in me after a nanosecond.
See Undina’s post on perfume shopping in Barcelona
https://undina.com/2017/06/22/visiting-three-monarchies-part-2-barcelona/
Potentially worth visiting:
– Perfumeria Julia (similar to a Sephora except stingy with samples)
– the U.S. has no Yved Rocher boutiques so my sister and I were overjoyed to shop there. Some perfumes are boutique only.
Thank you and will definitely check out!!
Flowers of immortality did last me a solid 5 hrs, despite the heat and humidity. In fall and winter it lasts a whole day. And usually my skin does eat perfume and needs constant reapplying.
Hi there! I’m from Barcelona. All the tips here are great! Robin, I didnt know about the soap shop, will definitely check it out.
Valleyorchids, if you want to meet up for coffee and samples exchange email me at Gabriela.speller@gmail.com
Have a nice trip!
Thank you for the kindness! Will definitely email you if I have time.
Sherry
Sabater Hermanos for scented soaps. Santa Eulalia has their own fragrance line and carries other niche brands as well. El Corte Ingles has all the Spanish drugstore / pharmacy lines, some upstairs in the beauty department and IIRC, some down in the supermarket in the basement.
This is a very old report on Regia:
https://nstperfume.com/2008/10/13/regia-shopping-for-perfume-in-barcelona/
Gardenia Batik for the community project and possibly baking peach pie tonight
You must be so excited about your visit to and composing a perfume with DSH! Are you going with a pre-conceived idea of what you want or will you let the experience tell you what suits you?
Yow, running late today! ⏰
SOTD = Tresor, from a parfum mini I have had for i don’t know how long. Reasonably sure I got it as a GWP ages ago. It smells glorious! Peach, apricot, rose and sandalwood. Almost syrup-y, in the best possible way. Yummy!
Time to read comments now.
I usually take up the rear during weekday SOTD posts!
I should re-visit Tresor. I may have a bottle lurking about somewhere.
If I remember, the next time I see a bottle of the current stuff I will take a “courtesy sniff”. Just to see what it’s like now.
Wow, you smell gorgeous! Imo, Tresor was under appreciated. And the parfum! ????
Thank you! I remember being rather surprised and happily shocked when I first realized that little mini had parfum and not EdP.
It kills me to think of all the perfume mini gwp I gave away or took one sniff and tossed! way back when I thought perfume stayed the same forever…
I learned about reformulation here on NST and a couple of other sites out there. I’d never heard about it before I fell down the perfumed rabbit hole. ????
I was telling CM8 earlier this week that Tresor is my stepmom’s signature scent. I always think she smells great. You do too!
Wearing Peche Cardinal for the CP. I had a bittersweet day at work. My officemate of 21 years retired today. She is the second person to leave within a month of each other. So happy for both of them but feeling a bit ophaned and overly emotional. Ugh, I hate this type of change.
Wow, that’s like a marriage breaking up. ????
And, change is very hard sometimes. 🙁
It is hard to be the last one left of the original group. I’m ready to move on as well. Just tired of the massive work load, pressure and stress. But I am too young to follow them just yet. Thanks for the sympathy.
I was in a similar situation with my last job. I was the youngest of the old timers. I watched everyone retire, and in the end had to watch them tear down my building as a last memory. It is really sad, because these people become like family. Except thier not.
Oh, poor you. That is awful. My job has changed over the years into something I never wanted. I’m just so tired of losing sleep over an impossible work load. The people I worked with made it endurable but they are both gone now.
If I had to give advice to my younger self, I would say that it is better to go to a different company (in a different industry, if possible) for a new job rather than staying in the same company for a new job. There’s a loyalty penalty and retirement benefits (excluding 401(k) / Pension Plan) are not what they used to be, if they are even available.
I have stayed there for many reasons. My employer is close to home and my travel time and expense would increase significantly if I were to change jobs. I have good benefits, four weeks of vacation and a state pension, not an IRA. At this point, I’d settled for a job change within my organization but it’s fairly small and there aren’t any openings at the moment. Plus, my spouse is self employed so I carry the benefits. The two people who were hired to replaced my retiring coworkers have both commented on the workload and both worked in similar positions elsewhere so I know it’s not just me.
We’ve run out of comment nesting levels!
It is unsettling when colleagues leave for any reason, all the more so when your cohorts do so. Hopefully, things get better for you really soon and management does something about the overwork situation and/or your move to a better situation within your current company.
Re: reasons for staying – makes sense for you given your circumstances. I’m mentoring an analyst who needs to secure a “permanent” position (really a continuing position since no job is permanent) who said she has a strong preference for staying within the same company. I asked her if that is pretty much the only criteria, ANY role where she meets the qualification should work. I advised her that given the multiple job possibilities, she should come up with a list of criteria by which she will assess all the jobs (e.g. overall compensation structure, location, job content / prep for her next role, etc.).
Oy vey. And I got news today that someone on our floor was laid off. His manager’s manager came to see me because she knows he was championing an event coming up next month and I am part of the planning committee. He didn’t see it coming but my Spidey sense was spot on.
Unless he deserved it, that’s too bad.
He didn’t deserve it; it was his role that got eliminated. I know it sounds callous (it’s not the person, it’s the role). That’s corporatespeak. Le sigh.
And…maybe I never relayed this story. A massive layoff was once done by picking every other person on a list. Everyone did the same job and their performance was all similar to each other. It ended up being the fairest way to do it.
I’ve been away from the corporate world for many years but I am familiar with these scenarios. It really isn’t fair but then, life rarely is.
I was laid off from a job because they used LIFO (last in first out) to choose. Felt awful at the time but sometimes there’s no easy way to do it. Grateful I received severance pay while working at a new job I liked much better. Hope there’s a silver lining for your former colleague.
She wonderful because she retired! She is a smart woman who will easily find other work, if she wants it in the future.
My comments about layoff were in response to hajusuuri’ post about her co-worker.
Thanks for being so sweet Tiffanie!
Hugs, Petunia! It’s tough saying goodbye to people you have enjoyed working with, especially after so many years.
Thanks Jalapeno. I’m feeling sorry for myself today. ????
(((Hugs))), Petunia.
Thanks KellyC!
I love peach fragrance notes at this time of year into September (although I never eat peaches, but I love nectarines!). It was way too hot today, though, to wear the vintage Tresor, too hot for Mitsouko, even too hot for the original Burberry (not sure what it’s called these days, Classic???) that is my very favorite peach-scented fragrance. So I kept it very simple and went with the original Yves Rocher Peche edt and its luscious lotion, which is, well, just ‘peachy’, and topped it off with Dame Peach Blossom, Violet, and Vanilla edt. A delightful summer combo!
Tonight’s Friday night concert-in-the-park features a Latin swing band and, somehow, ‘peach’ just doesn’t seem intoxicating enough to accompany salsa, cumbia, and meringue. Will have to search my fragrance wardrobe for a better fit . . . .
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!
What drink are you pairing with your concert?
Grandkids have been here for 3 days and I’ve been on the run with them constantly so no time to give much though to pairing, just went with the standard margaritas (for us, not them) and some soft lemon cookies. They had sparkling lemonade from France (thank you, Aldi!). Taught my shy almost 11-year old granddaughter to salsa. She loved it so much she’s going to ask mom for salsa lessons!
A concert in the park sounds wonderful. Enjoy!
It was! The soft, Latin rhythms were perfect for a sultry, summer night.
This morning I applied some Mitsouko body cream from a fairly ancient bottle I picked up somewhere. It has separated but the creamy part still smells delicious. After my nap this afternoon I added spritzed of BK Dangerous Liaisons. Another scent I’ve owned for years without noticing It had peach. To me the roses and cinnamon in it stand out the most. The combo is nice and slightly sweetens the BK in a pleasant way.
Sounds WONDERFUL!!
