Hermes Eau des Merveilles Bleue ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 16 January 2017 21 Comments

Hermès Eau des Merveilles Bleue

Hermès will launch Eau des Merveilles Bleue in February. The new fragrance for women is a flanker to 2004's Eau des Merveilles, and follows 2012's L'Ambre des Merveilles.

Like a modern-day fairy, [perfumer] Christine Nagel creates works of wonder. With a drop of azure blue, she illuminates the magic of the ocean and the colour of the sky in an invitation to a waking dream, eyes wide open among the stars.

The enchantment continues with joyful effervescence in a fragrance that is both woody and mineral, washed in sea spray and warmed by the roundness and heat of patchouli.

Life through blue-tinted glasses brings a promise of freshness sparkling with marine surprises.

The taste of water on pebbles and the wonder of so many treasures within arm’s reach.

Hermès Eau des Merveilles Bleue will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Marine + patch? Sorry Hermes fans, pass (the bottle’s nice, though). Next!

…but mineral could be salt and the patch could be fractionated so it doesn’t hit you in the face…

We will see. If it’s really heavily aquatic, I won’t like it, but the original already has a salty aspect and I love that one.

A 50 mL bottle will be mine! What a gorgeous blue! I hope she makes something green next time :-)

It’s a great bottle — would also look great in opaque colors, I think.

“The taste of water on pebbles” – yeah, because I’m familiar with THAT. What the heck?

Don’t mind me, I’m just cranky.

      Ha ha, yeah.

Although the “rain dampened stone” from Le Jardin de M. Li smelled pretty.

Hee-hee, I was a kid who visited lakes, rivers, and streams and often tasted a pebble or two. The salty ones at the beach were the best. I’m imagining Christine Nagel doing the same thing.

And I still collect pebbles, but I don’t taste them anymore. Perhaps it’s time to try again. ;)

That was my favorite part! I think that’s my favorite perfume copy in a while.

Interestingly, I always get patch (and a dash of marine) from the original. I assume it’s just the pepper and ambergris mix I’m getting, but I could never love it once the orange faded away. I’ll try this one, but don’t have high hopes.

I think there is a very clean patch in the original too.

I think the very clean patch in EdM smells like green forest to me. I hope Bleue is similar patchouli-wise.

That bottle is gorgeous, but I’m not overly keen on that fragrance being more aquatic.

    Oh, happy day!

I hope Bleue will hit the flanker sweet spot: different but recognizably related to Eau des Merveilles.

I do love the original, so I’ll have to give this one a sniff (though Ambre des Popcorns Caramel didn’t work for me). What I’d love to find is a “marine” fragrance that truly smells like the sea, and not like calone. How about a Vetiver des Merveilles, next? :)

Fortunately I already have a blue EdM bottle, the constellation special edition they did several years ago (same scent though). Will be curious to give this one a sniff.
