The Fragrance Foundation of France has announced the winners of Les Fifis 2016, the French version of the Fragrance Foundation / Fifi Awards. And the winners are:

Best men’s fragrance, professional prize: Hermès Le Jardin de Monsieur Li
Best women's fragrance, consumer choice: Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Eau de Parfum Intense
Best men's fragrance, consumer choice: Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male
Prix des Experts, Collection from a Large Brand: Chanel Misia
Prix des Experts, Niche: Parfum d'Empire Tabac Tabou

Looking at the consumer choices, I think the majority of us seems to accept whatever brands want us to think about their perfumes. Sexy, the ideal man or woman, the daring, the adventurous, et cetera..
Has there ever been a case when a perfume is obviously unoriginal and, despite marketing efforts and images, most consumers rejected it?
Well, gosh, yes, tons. But there are plenty of others that are boring and sell like gangbusters.
How fickle we are.
