Rabbit rabbit rabbit! It's finally March. A quick reminder: in case you missed it, the meetup poll is still open! What fragrance did you pick for today?
I'm wearing Estee Lauder Sensuous.
Reminder: On 3/4, wear a fragrance from Estee Lauder or Aramis, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2016, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is Mom's Holland Lop [cropped] by Frank Boston at flickr; some rights reserved.
I got my samples of Lonesome Rider last night so I’ll be giving it a complete testing today!
How fun! My bottle should be here by the time I get home from work.
Coumarin- please give your thoughts by end of day if you can.
SOTD Passage d’ enfer
Me too!! Can’t wait.
I’m enjoying it so far. If I had gotten a blind buy bottle at $75 I wouldnt be unhappy but I’m not sure it’s worth the $135. It’s very simple, cold leather and iris. Certainly cooler and more carefree than Cuir de Russe.
Fun! Curious to hear what you think.
Demeter Honey: stripped-down Miel de Bois, plus baby powder, for some reason. Really nice and wearable.
I haven’t tried their Hiney, but I like their Beeswax.
Honey!!!
Tee hee
You never know. There are a few people here who’d be more into Hiney than Honey.
I get a lot of Hiney from Cuir de Russie…
I haven’t tried Beeswax. One of these days, though.
I haven’t either LOL. I just bought Beeswax – honey with white flowers!
How was the Demeter blending shindig, btw?
Overall, it was fun. There’s always a buzz when you’re in a room full of perfume enthusiasts. Was it worth the $25 fee? If the goodie bag is supposed to be “free”, $10 would have been more reasonable. I bad hoped for more perfume theory, followed by practice but it turned out to be more running a family owned perfume company and the thought process behind the different single note perfumes. Since there were no rules to follow, theory-light was appropriate. In any case, 20% off was nice and I took full advantage. I’m composing a guest post (Undina’s blog) so now the heat is on
Oh, thanks for the head’s up about the post–I’ll be very glad to hear your opinions on the Demeters, I hardly know where to start when faced with their display!
Did you try the New Zealand? Dying to know what it smells like.
I bought ine – earthy green salty
Ugh that would be ONE (I see how easily honey became hiney)
Ah – good to know.
Miel de Bois smells like hiney to me….
I need to try Beeswax!
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! I hear it’s also Natl Pig Day. March is coming in like a lion in these parts, snowed last night with more expected later today
Back in my current fave winter scent: Ciel de Gum.
You smell really good!
You smell wonderful!
SOTD is the only Aramis I have – a sample of Calligraphy Rose. It starts with a blast of rose, frankincense and myrrh, and soon they are joined by dry herbs and spices. I love how it smells on this grey rainy day.
This is also the first Aramis fragrance I tried, and it is a lovely introduction to the brand.
I have still never tried (or even seen!) either of the Calligraphy scents. Glad to hear it is nice.
They are dirt cheap at the discounters… I bought the rose blind but don’t care for it. You will see it at the swap meet.
Dirt cheap, huh? On FN, they’re still $65…. Any other discount sites I should be looking at?
The Calligraphies sound fabulous! What didn’t you like about the rose?
I think I got mine for $29 on beautyspin… For some reason it had a weird off smell, mybe a note I don’t care for, mixed in with the rose.
Cool, thanks! I’ll look for your bottle in the swapmeet (with some reservations), but I’m always looking for more websites that make this hobby affordable!
I think I might try layering my tea and ginger Demeter scents. Alarm went off to head down to Diptyque, but I decided to resist the temptation. maybe next year….
Looks like the line is very long..
I passed by this morning.. it’s got to be an hour wait, if not longer. Weather at least is agreeable
Oh boy! That doesn’t sound promising. Are you still planning to go later? I think I’ll be able to get down there later.
I’m not sure.. I’ve got a block of time open on my calendar from 1-2pm, so I thought maybe I’d try around 1:30. I’m sure lunch time and after work will be a mob scene.
Yeah, I can only go after 3. Either a mob scene or slim pickins. I’m undecided…
I read on Racked that their reporter got there at 7:30 and got in around 9:40. I just couldn’t see anything I needed so much to warrant being quite so nutty. Unless, of course, I was doing it with a friend and we decided it would make a funny story… If I knew I really, really wanted something, I’d make sure to be there at 6 or 6:30 am… Yikes!
There isn’t anything I want to buy that much to wait in line for 2 hours.
I am guilty of buying some samples yesterday on STC for their leap day sale. Good Grief! Must. Sit. On.Hands Thanks to ihaveanidea I got a sample of SL Rose de Nuit. Like I need another rose sample…
For those of you going to the Dipyque sample sale I read this morning online that it is 200 shoppers deep. May the perfume goddesses be with you. .
SOTD is Bogue Maii. I am giving this another try. Its wears masculine on me. I just can’t do this one. Scrubbing this one off. Just awful on me.
Managed to dodge the STC bullet. Did succumb to the siren call of Rouge Coco Stylo (Message and Roman). Blaming spring fever.
I bought Message as well. How do you like it? The color is fab and the texture is also a plus!. I will have to look at Roman..
Like them both very much. Maii just puzzled me, as I recall. Not the bombshell I was expecting, just meh, and yeah, a bit masculine.
Maai was puzzling to me as well. I could not find any tuberose in there to save my life! Instead, it smelled like the coal tar soap my elderly cousin kept in his bathroom – this bizarre juxtaposition of clean and grimy (not animalic).
I think you described it perfectly..clean and grimy
Ooooh – didn’t even realize I’d enabled in that way. Yay! Hope you enjoy it.
I just can’t believe I haven’t tried that one.
After I scrubbed Maii off I am in la fille de berlin, another beautiful rose by SL
I’m guilty of buying a decant from that sale too. I’m amazed that I only got one and not a fist full.
guilty of buying a fistfull
I owe Maai second chance, but I’m kinda scared :-/
I tried to scrub it off but its still there. If you do give it a second try let me know.
Guilty, guilty, guilty. And today I can hardly remember what I bought! That’s bad. Two Amouages–Lyric and ??–and one other. I am not going to buy anything else this month!
LOL – really sympathize with the must.sit.on.hands-feeling. Happened to smell Tom Ford Fleur de Chine yesterday, which was recently discontinued…immediately hooked… Cannot justify buying FB but had to have a few samples…
Where can you get FB?
Guilty of giving in to StC as well. 20% off was a good excuse to explore some myrrh centered fragrances; decants of Lush’s 1000 Kisses Deep, Guerlain’s Myrrhe et Delires, and Uncle Serge’s La Myrrhe headed my way!
OOooo I also ordered a sample of Myrrhe et Delires!
Let me know how SL La Myrrhe is!
I didn’t like La Myrrhe when I was scared of aldehydes, now that I like them a large-ish decant is on the top of my Post Lent Buying list.
Well I squeaked in on the STC leap day sale at 11:40PM last night. Blind bought an 8ml decant of Papillon Salome based on reviews and descriptions. Sounds like a capital W Woman perfume so I decided to take a chance on it. Has anyone tried it?
It’s lovely and not really skanky on me.
Today I am trying “Palo Santo” from Carner Barcelona. In my warm hotel room the gourmand vanilla milk notes were prominent, but as soon as I walked out into colder fresh air the spicy wood jumped out. Before I was half way through the day, it was down to a skin scent smelling mostly of vetiver.
Someone with more reasonable skin might enjoy all that morphing, assuming it stayed discernible throughout. For me with my scent-eating variety, I’m glad to have tried it but we don’t have a future together. :^)
Sounds interesting!
Fragrantica reviews are all over the place; it seems different people get radically different results. In my case, all of the phases it went through were low key. Worth a shot if you can get hold of a sample. :^)
Interesting!
Vanilla milk notes sounds fascinating. I’ve been intrigued with the idea of milk notes ever since I read a review of Eau Claire des Merveilles which noted the milky sweet breath of a newborn… (I had a newborn at the time, which made that sound quite pleasant). Nearly 2 years later I still haven’t tried many scents with milky notes!
I like the feature in Fragrantica where you can choose a note and it suggests perfumes that feature it. So if you need something that smells of barbed wire and freckles, you know where to look! :^D
I can always rely on your posts to give me a twenty minute ‘perfume break’ from work while I scroll through all the completely unknown to me perfume houses you mention. Kitchen table daydreams…ahhh. Nice!
NST has been an education for me – so many different companies making so much stuff! I’ve gone slightly mad getting dozens of samples from left, right and centre. I suppose as midlife crises go, this at least has the advantage of being at the harmless and affordable end of the spectrum. ;^)
Affordable as opposed to…..a small airplane?
My SOTD : Thierry Mugler Angel Eau Sucree.
That bunny picture is adorable!
It’s a darned cute bunny.
I’m in regular old Angel, but enjoying it immensely!
I really liked that flanker!
That might be my favorite rabbit picture ever posted here.
I’m going to be testing my Eris samples today. It’s warm, or warmish, and supposed to be cold again tomorrow.
Must go vote in the primary election.
I’m voting too though it’s going to be a tight fit today.
I love the bunny! Wearing First by VCA. I feel elegant, composed and focused
Perfect!
You smell it too!
Ditto!!
Wish JCE would do a big perfume for Hermès, he excels on that.
Yep, a really great Jasmine, he loves jasmine. He’ll never do something like First again though.
Nope, First is a masterpiece. But I still hope he stops being so minimalist.
March? Could’ve fooled me. I fell asleep last night to the sound of ice pelting the roof and windows. I had planned on wearing Pleasures or Beautiful today, but they felt out of place. So Youth Dew it is. I hope it can keep me warm.
Yuck! Good choice on the Youth Dew.
I was going to save the big gun for Friday, but it became a necessity today. It’s quite lovely, but I’m ready to break out my spring florals.
I forgot to mention earlier, I want that bunny. Don’t know what I’d do with him but oh, that face!
Ahhh, Youth Dew sounds nice…
It is. I wish I owned the bath oil. A hot bath in this stuff would be the most wonderful thing right now.
Here too, ice covering the side walks, icy winds…sun is out though, and there is hope in the air. Personally, I haven’t been able to pull myself away from Chanel Cuir de Russie, it makes me feel so warm and cosy… I was eyeing Artisan Parfumeur Mimosa pour Moi though, also warm and so sunny – maybe tomorrow…
If I had Cuir de Russie I would have turned to it today. Enjoy being cozy.
I’m jealous of all of you who are experiencing ice and such. It almost got to 80 degrees yesterday in Houston. I long for a true Winter.
Growing up, my grandma wore Youth Dew and I didn’t like it. Now that my fragrance palette has matured, maybe I should give it another go. It gets a lot of love here at NST.
I had to go to the grocery store a few hours ago. It was snowing sideways. Seriously, little chunky icy balls smacked me in the head as I loaded up the car. Then it took me half an hour to drive six miles home. Nothing to be jealous of here.
Youth Dew is always one that has worn me instead of the other way around. Today I did about a spray and a half right in the middle of my ribcage. It wafts up everytime I move but it’s not suffocating like when I spray it on my neck and wrists. It’s much more pleasant this way. Though I’ll admit, I still feel like I’m wearing a grownup’s perfume. Give it a test, you might be surprised. But not today. Maybe next November. It’ll kill you in 80°.
I know it’s not but today feels like the first day of Spring. I am wearing Jour d’Hermes, one of my favorites of my few Hermes scents.
I love Jour too! I’m almost out of the original and i might upgrade to the absolue next.
I love the original, but I LOVE the absolu. My very favorite of my Hermes.
I still need to try that one!!! It sounds perfect for spring.
The lovely Petunia (whose package will be shipped to her as soon as I am able to get to the Post Office!) sent me a decant of Bottega Veneta, and I’m indulging in that this morning. Silly work getting in the way of my sending presents.
Hope you’re all well!
Enjoy Dear! You smell lovely today.
Adorbz floppy eared bunny!
I enjoy EL Sensuous. Nice scent, Robin.
Today I’m wearing FM L’eau d’Hiver. Love this. Applied about 12 sprays to hopefully make it last up to 3 hours ;-/ Just wish it lasted longer and projected a bit more, esp. since this scent could never been annoying to anyone!
Last eve I received a split of the new MDCI Les Indes Galantes. I was so excited about this one. The first 15-20 are awesome; it’s definitely a cousin to Fendi Theorema. But then if falls apart after 20 minutes and becomes a very close to skin, somewhat bland vanilla scent. Super bummed. Money saved I guess is the silver lining.
The MDCI didn’t work for me either. My bank account was overjoyed????
Read somewhere that it devolves to Yankee Candle.
Ack.
I wouldn’t go that far (Yankee candle) because then so many vanilla focused scent could be described as such
You smell lovely – hope the many sprays help it last. I always think with some perfumes that need frequent reapplication you get to enjoy the glorious opening a lot, which kind of makes up for it.
Wearing vintage Mitsouko right now. I’m trying to figure out if I want to continue on with it or wash it off and wear Deneuve. I’m not exactly thrilled that I have a day off tomorrow and have to pay a visit to the dentist to get cavities taken care of.
I hate days off filled with errands! I hope your fillings are speedy.
I hope so too. The downside of going to a dental school to have work done is that it takes a very long time to get anything done. Seven visits and now we start getting into the real work. Making molds of my teeth, a cleaning, x-rays, talking over the treatment plans all have their individual visits. I’m hoping that I won’t have to pay much (under $100 please).
Hope it goes well… I just had a filling replaced. I could tell something wasn’t quite right there. It had started to wear away and there was some decay underneath. All in all, it was pretty good as dental visits go. The novacaine did its job but I really wish they could do something about that horrific drill sound! Makes my palms sweat!
This might sound weird but a tattooist once told me that wearing ear plugs (to dull the noise of the needle) seems to reduce the sensation of pain amongst some clients. Maybe the same might be true for dental drills?
Stick with the Mitsouko – it only gets better the longer it’s on.
+1
SOTD is EL Tuberose Gardenia. I don’t think I’ve worn this since last Spring – I’d forgotten how pretty it is.
I knew someone who oversprayed this and left a luscious floral trail behind her wherever she went.
You smell great!
I have a few samples of this one…just need to find them.
I will definitely join you in TG sometime this week!
PCTG will be my Friday.
Wow you smell super.
You smell lovely.
I reached for my bottle of this today and saw that it was nearly empty. Not enough for my taste. So, I had to pass. Sure did smell nice, though.
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit – that is an adorable bunny picture.
SOTD = By Killian Amber Oud. This one rings all my bells, apparently because it is long on amber and short on oud. I bought a decant of this at the LeapDay STC sale.
And my bottle of Lonesome Rider showed up yesterday! Yay! It starts off awfully smokey for me, but quiets down nicely. I think I preferr LADDM, but I will have to do a wrist to wrist comparison over the weekend. Emails headed out to you lovely ladies patient waiting for decants.
“…long on amber and short on oud.” I’m going to have to try this. I seem to like Oud best in small doses.
Been stuck in bed for 4 days with the flu. Yuck!
I NEVER get the flu. I guess this was my year.
I had a tough time selecting something this morning that would not turn me right off by mid-morning.
I decided on Traversée du Bosphore. Good choice i think. I too often forget how much i like it.
Been there. So, so sorry. Hope you rejoin the world soon.
It is the softest hug of a perfume (to me). Excellent whenever but especially when in need for some comfort.
Gratefully I don’t tend to get sick either, so when I do its a good long slog. Sorry for you… feel better soon!
Blech…hope you are better soon!
Get better soon and hope Traversee helps you feel better.
So sorry about the flu! Hope you feel better soon. TdB is very comforting.
Hope you start feeling better soon!
Feel better soon!!!
My sympathies! Hope you are back in the swing of things soon!
Feel better!!! Flu is no laughing matter.
This flu season has gone down as one of the worst. EVERYONE has had it. I know how you feel. I had strep, which turned into the flu, which turned to walking pneumonia, and then full-blown pneumonia. Get plenty of rest and try to enjoy doing absolutely nothing. Your body will heal that much faster. Here’s to a speedy recovery!
Feel better soon and may your scent comfort you!
Early to the party today!
Wearing Coromandel, and it is nice for this Spring/Winter day we’re having. I think I’ve got one application left after this.
I really need to try this again. I’ve only sniffed it in passing and it is sounding more and more like something I’d love.
Another gorgeous day in the swamp- sitting in the back yard, drinking coffee, listening to the birds, and watching T-Rex entertain herself with an old soccer ball, then with a pine cone, then onto a piece of mulch. She’s never bored????
SOTD is PdE Cuir Ottoman because I’m not feeling well and taking a real sick day from work. Love Cuir Ottoman and the 100ml bottle is on my “I want it but will never purchase it” list.
I’m sorry that you’re not feeling well today Deva. I hope you make a quick recovery.
Sounds like T-Rex can distract you from not feeling well. Hope it passes. A few weeks ago I suffered from some sort of stomach flu-hope that is not how you are feeling.
Ick, hope it passes soon. PdE is lovely.
T-Rex sounds adorable. A real sick day! Those are the worst kind
Hope it passes soon so you can take a fun sick day.
I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, but if you can sit outside with your coffee on a nice day and be entertained by T-Rex, you can feel a little contentment, too, I hope.
Feel better! I love the name T-Rex… is that your dog?
Feel better! As long as you don’t indulge in the mulch along with her, I hope you’re on your way to recovery.
Hope a beautiful day relaxing outside with your favorite puppy has you feeling better soon!
Feel better soon, Deva! Give T-Rex a smooch for me.
Spring-like here today so I’m trying SSS Wood Violet. Tomorrow it will snow, so I’ll go back to the winter scents!!
I love SSS Wood Violet! Beautiful.
I like Wood Violet. I think I have a bit left of my sample. How are you finding it?
I just have the 1ml dabber… I would like to be able to spray more heavily. I got about 4.5 hours from my heavy dab, loved it while it lasted.
SOTD is Youth Dew Amber Nude. Despite the obvious connection to Youth Dew, I think of it as an update on Cinnabar.
That’s a VERY pretty one indeed. You smell great.
I will have to give Youth Dew Amber Nude a try. Is it still available or has it been discontinued?
Discontinued but available from online merchants who have no issues with grossly overcharging their customers. Get a decant first, if you can.
No Spring here today, but a sort of cold rain wet snow mixture. I am wearing the beautiful Trayee to warm myself to, and be focussed and calm at the same time. Very happy this exists.
Are there any lovers of Bombay Bling here today? I am considering a sample.
I adore Trayee and love Bombay Bling! as well. One of the best fruity scents I’ve ever smelled and such a happy one, too. After the initial mango blast it’s actually pretty refined – gently woody and spicy. But definitely not one to blind buy, people’s mileage varies a lot with this one and I completely understand why.
Thank you for sample buying enabling Annikky! My husband, like you, loves loves mangoes, so maybe this is one we can share.
Like Anniky, I really like Bombay Bling. It’s instant cheer to me, but with the proper sophistication. I also love Pichola, which is lighter and get lasts and lasts.
Oops sorry Annikky!
No problem at all! My parents really should have checked their ambition.
Thanks Amy!
From the original 3, Trayee was my favorite!
Bombay Bling is my favorite from the line! (A favorite in general, really!)
That bunny picture is adorable. SOTD is Equistrius in keeping with the sunny weather.
Beautiful!
I’m doing my Estee Lauder Is Taking Over The World week, wearing By Kilian Beyond Love (inspired by SophieC). It’s a beautiful tuberose and easy to wear, at least as far as proper tuberose scents go.
I am trying to sample that later today, no doubt you smell lovely!
Let me know what you think! I’m curious.
I like that – maybe I need to check if I have anything owned by EL that I didn’t realize…..
AnnS, you’ll have a large selection of options. There are the lines Estee Lauder established such as Clinique, Aramis, Prescriptives, Origins and Tom Ford Beauty.
Then there are all the lines they acquired:
http://www.elcompanies.com/Pages/Homepage.aspx
YEAH! Thanks for the tip – I hadn’t got around to searching yet. But I do have some Tom Ford and Aromatics Elixir….
I’m pretty sure you own several.
thaks for the tip, that’s how I can solve this Friday’s scent choice (I realized my “official” EL scent number = 0), I’ll have to check what they have taken over, by Kilian is always a good pption (love “beyond love”, but I’m a sucker for tuberose)
They own a lot, see Lindaloo’s comment above. My only FB from Lauder is Bronze Goddess…
Love that idea!

I will have to do a “EL-world-dominion” Friday here to, I got loads of Frederic Malle options, and some Le Labo decants, none EL ..
Or maybe there is some Youth Dew tucked away in my samplestæsj.. will go treasure-hunting
Today I’m so lazy and tired. Wearing Dior Leather Oud, smells good at least.
I don’t own much from Lauder proper either, hence the theme.
I’m curious about Leather Oud, I quite like many form the Dior exclusifs (I know they aren’t called that, but this is how I think of them). Unfortunately, the bottles are huge.
Huge! I really like a couple of them, and the bottles are nice to look at in a spare way, but so big. Who can make that commitment?
Raises hand sheepishly… I have four of those huge bottles, they are beautiful. But then I love excess… It is comforting to know I will never run out.
Good choice of theme. I love Beyond Love, I’m considering a bottle. (a refill of course, black lacquer boxes not really being my thing)
I don’t like their bottles much either, but the travel sprays are quite nice. Do you own the lavender?
No. Still dithering about it. I’ve nearly drained two samples. But I’ve already got several excellent lavenders.
While you don’t own any tuberoses, right ;)?
None!
You know, I actually own more tuberoses than lavenders, I think, but somehow another lavender feels more superfluous than another tuberose.
This must appear insane on several levels, so instead of seeing a doctor I’ve just decided that at some point I need both. (By Kilians I mean)
Beyond Love is such a joyous scent! I wonder what Calice Becker is up to these days…
I’m testing Coromandel on one arm and 31 Rue Cambon on the other. I smell delicious (but confused).
Those are two of my favorites.
How do you find them?
31 Rue Cambon is growing on me–with something to compare it to I can really smell the citrus in the opening. I’d like to try it at the same time as Lyric as well. Coromandel seems to have two faces–sometimes it smells very comforting-chocolate and sometimes has a very vegetable green aspect. I’d like to get a larger decant to give it a really good airing, but since it’s no longer available at decanters I’m not sure what I’ll do–sometimes I adore it and sometimes it reminds me of my brother’s Speedstick deodorant.
That is indeed a confusing combo
Both gorgeous, but together, hmmmmm…..
This made me giggle, and yes can see how that would cause confusion…
My two favorites, along with Misia. Yum!
Wearing oh-so-much J.Crew 31 today. Fiance even said I smelled good, which is a rarity
Nice!
You smell great! I was surprised how much I liked the 31. It grew on me immediately. Now I wish I’d bought the full bottle instead of just the rollerball.
I’m in Chergui today and especially enjoyed it on my walk to work as the cool breeze lifted the scent up to my nose. This scent has got to be a masterpiece. It’s just so well done, not overpowering and yet there’s no mistaking the tobacco, honey richness of it.
PS. that bunny pic made me so happy.. there such dear animals.
Ditto this! In regards to the perfume AND the bunny????
Awww. How do you make a bunny emoji?
I finished a sample of this long ago. I don’t want to revisit because I am afraid I will buy a bottle.
*whispering in your ear* Buy me, buy me! ????
Chergui is wonderful.
Lumière noire, waiting to try the re-released baccarat rouge 540, there is such a nice review for it on the non-blonde’s blog…
Happy Tuesday Everyone! Its a zoo at my school today because of voting going on. All the strangers going in and out is a little nerve-wrecking. My SOTD is Estee Lauder’s Private Collection: Jasmine White Moss. I am just now realizing how much of a “jasmine” fan I am. I have numerous fragrances where jasmine is the dominant note. I never even realized it until now. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day!
I love jasmine too. Hope the voting goes smoothly!
I didn’t know how much jasmine I had either until I wore Lush’s Lust. After that, if jasmine is in a scent it’s all I can smell. My Olene and Diorissimo are almost unwearable now.
I found a vial of Caleche parfum amongst my Hermes samples, and it is so beautiful and rich! Added a spritz of the EDT (have a bottle of that one) on my hair for good measure.
Love rabbits…we have a big fat one who peeks into our empty raised vegetable beds. She’s probably going to have little ones soon.
I love Caleche. Wish i had some.
I think rabbits are rather sweet, but after living with a dachshund for 14 years I do tend to regard them as prey. Sorry.
Ha! I was raised with dachshunds and can confirm they do love a good rabbit or two.
Ditto. Few Dachshunds but lots of various terriers in my history. Bunnies is food. Cute food, but still…they also nibble my plants which irritates me no end.
I’ve never tried this one! Must remedy soon…
Springish day today so I hauled out Oriza L. Legrand CHYPRE MOUSSE and my outfit matches it perfectly if I may say so myself!
Chypre Mousse is smokey earthy green topped off by roasted chestnuts. LOVE!
I don’t usually try to match my outfit to my perfume or the other way around. Today, I am wearing a brown pants suit, army green crew neck shirt with satin piping and brown/gold/black swarovski crystal earrings and wraparound bracelet.
No Diptyque sale for me and just the thought of 200 people in line scared the perfume molecules out of me.
I love your outfit! And I am with you on the Diptyque crowds. No thank you.
Thanks. And I have to say that the wraparound bracelet is my most complimented bracelet. I got it for the princely sum of $5 from a street vendor while walking down Fifth Avenue.
You smell great and look all put together and lovely!
Thank you! I’m usually a little less “formal” but thank goodness I wore this because I ended up having an in-person meeting with our Exec!
I just tried CM very recently and enjoyed it as well. I’m sure that line will die down. I went much later in the day last year and there weren’t many people there. But there also wasn’t a huge selection left either.
I would have had to take a day off to do it! At one-day sales, I usually end up getting full-priced items.
Wow, great combo! I can’t do lines either. More than 2 deep and I say “nope!” I do have some virtues, but patience with masses of clamoring people is not one of them.
Yup!
That is such an adorable picture, you have made my day, thank you!
I fear I may be a fragrance danger zone today – I had the morning out and tried a few things I have wanted to for a while, which means currently my left hand smells of Amarige, right wrist Marc Jacobs original perfume, my right hand is Flowerhead and right wrist is Lys 41. No one has fainted yet but I must be pushing it.
The upside is wow is Lys 41 stunningly beautiful – a bit late to the party on that but wow. It also seems somewhat reminiscent of Songes – or is that just me?
Lys 41 is very nice. I hadn’t thought about it but you could be right about Songes.
Thanks – it really only struck me because I was sniffing Songes too – but had clearly run out of anywhere to spray.
There’s similarity, but I find Lys 41 much more vanillic. Both lovely.
Funny, I was just thinking that I got more vanilla out of Songes! I like them both, though. (And my Songes sample is edp, which might be heavier on the base than the edt. Or maybe it’s aged – it’s several years old and very dark orange.)
Ooh that sounds nice, I love songes!
SOTD is just a tab of Tom Ford Violet Blonde. I’m not sure what I’m going to wear on Friday! I have an old mini of Beautiful and a vintage bottle of Estee Super Cologne.
For a minute I could not think what “Estee Super” was & thought you meant a flanker…they always used such confusing names for the concentrations!
I am going with Le Labo Gaiac 10 today, want something light so I can hose myself down with Lonesome Rider when it arrives this afternoon.
Do give us your impressions in tomorrow’s post! Looking forward to my split- this one seems unanimously pleasing from what I have read.
Copying you with my sample as I wanted some light green and woods to fortify me for getting things done. Also it’s super damp today and I might just have the imagined remains of last night’s peaty 2nd Cumming sample still drifting in my mind…
I love the idea of Lonesome Rider paired with a Bottega Veneta bag and Doc Martens. Sort of covers all bases.
Elegant grunge cowgal
That would be me all right.
I’m wearing about 10 sprays of Jasmin et Cigarette and it has already faded to a low hum. Grrrr.
Ten sprays, wow! But now that I think about it, I probably wore 8 yesterday
But while it lasted, you smelled amazing.
Today it’s Eau de Windex for me! I’m celebrating March 1st with some early but much-needed spring cleaning. I’ve already picked out a fragrance for later: Aramis Havana. Sweet tobacco and spicy bay rum: yum.
That does sound yum. And better than Windex
I’ll say!
My goodness you’re ambitious!
I’d been neglecting the place (kitchen especially) and wanted to catch up. The incentive was that I had to finish the work before I could wear the perfume
Maybe I should try that. Except my whole house needs scrubbing. I’d have to go scentless for two weeks before I’d be allowed to wear perfume again.
Crazy morning is crazy!
First day of reports and not even an hour into the work day when we’re evacuated from the building due to a bomb threat next door. An hour was wasted as we milled around the parking lot for the building next to ours. Our building is connected to a school for the disabled and apparently a disgruntled employee decided to call in a mock bomb threat.
Everyone was ok and we just joked around that someone REALLY did not want to do their reports for the month.
All is well though. The boss declared a WFH when we were allowed back in the building and I totally forgot my laptop charger so I’m on mega crunch time to get stuff sorted in the next 4 hours.
Quick check in – SOTD is Pure White Linen – I have a mini I got from a lovely NSTer in a freebie meet.
Hope everyone has a good day!
Pure White Linen is nice! I used to have a small bottle but I swapped at some point.
My son’s school had two bomb threats in its first month of the year, and it looks like one was dialled in from overseas. Makes you go Grrrrrr.
UGH! People are stupid. I hope White Linen makes you feel good today- and focused!
Oy – sorry to hear that, but so glad it wasn’t a real threat.
I keep saying “No more samples,” and yet they keep appearing… So today I’m trying Rose Ikebana on one arm and Osmanthe Yunnan on the other. Both are lovely, but the Osmanthe Yunnan is rather special, and has a whiff of the plumeria blossoms that grew around our front porch when I lived in Hawaii as a little girl. 15 mls of this may need to come live with me…
I’ve got to try this one. I don’t love Hermes, but this sounds great.
Ohhh, I sniffed that on Saturday and it is beautiful. You smell lovely.
I love Osmanthe Yunnan, but am obviously anosmic to some ingredients because I can only smell it for the first 5 minutes… and that is liberally applied! I’m jealous of people who can smell the whole thing.
Oh, too bad. It’s hardly a big or long-lasting fragrance on me, but it certainly has more than 5 minutes of life in it!
Wearing Nest Verde today, and celebrating my Welsh heritage since March 1st is St. David’s Day. Can’t really see myself wearing a leek in my lapel, so I am settling for a huge bouquet of daffodils instead.
Leeks are lovely plants, but daffodils definitely smell better!
Indeed – that’s why the leeks I bought are going in the pot to make leek& potato soup and the daffodils are now gracing the table. They had a bunch at my local grocery store for only $3.99 and the living room smells magical!
Oh that is a perfect soup for a chilly spring day!
Happy St. David’s Day! I’m Welshish too and love this idea – I will celebrate with my favorite Narcissus, the wonderful Van Cleef & Arpels First I got in the freebie meet!
Dydd Gwŷl Dewi to you as well!
SOTD is Estee Super EdP, a sunny happy floral aldehyde, from my set of vintage mini’s. Very pretty.
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit. Hope it counts if it’s the first thing you type because the first thing I said was, “ow! Newburg, what?” It would be very useful if I could set the feline alarm time. They are very effective as they don’t seem to have a snooze button. I could make a fortune marketing The Alarm That Won’t be Ignored*
guess I’ll buy a new starter for my husband’s truck instead. The perfume would have been much more fun (I have small hands so guess who will be lodged beneath the wheel with oil in her hair).
I dodged the decant sale bullet by getting distracted and forgetting to complete my order until it was too late
SOTD is leftover Memoir from yesterday. I’m anticipating a couple of deliveries so I expect I’ll be testing stuff later.
*not responsible for chewed hair, bites or scratches to face, neck or hands, damage due to overturned water glasses, or surprise cold vomit traps. Some restrictions may apply. Not valid with other offers. Warranty void where prohibited by law.
????oh my! Those kittens are keeping you hopping! I think T-Rex may be half-cat due to the way she uses her front paws, batting at anything and everything just like a kitten. She comes equipped with the same “no snooze alarm” as well. Very annoying ????
But she’s so cute! I miss having a dog, but our yard isn’t secure. Wet dog nose in the ear is certainly an equally effective alarm.
I also wish I could catch a video of Newburg with his ping-pong ball. He seems to have an occasional problem with depth perception and the little white gloves waving about as the ball plonks him in the nose never gets old. Turns out food was not the issue and he had lost his ball behind the hi-fi this morning and needed human hands for retrieval.
My dogs start grumbling if breakfast time is not honored in the appropriate manner, by filling their bowls! I did the same thing with my STC order, fairly modest, but I just could not hit the final payment button.
I had meant to put an order in but completely spaced it. Which is just fine.
Surprise cold vomit traps… LOL. I know those only too well. I have never stepped in one wearing shoes. Why is that?
…I miss having a cat!
My sweet Silvia died at age 20, three years ago, and we decided not to get another cat for the foreseeable future. We found out our youngest is mildly allergic to cats, and while it wasn’t reason enough to get rid of a cat, it was reason enough not to get another one until Taz (now 15) is out on his own.
We have a dog, and that’s great, but it’s not the same.
Oh, I’m sorry, it is so hard to lose a cat after so long. We had two who lived to 18 and 20 respectively, and it took quite a while to get over their deaths enough even to consider kittens — and of course, if you have a child with an allergy, that makes it impracticable as well as emotionally difficult. We’ve got two more now, brother and sister, and they are a wonder. It seems important to live with nonhuman creatures, somehow, or at least in their near proximity, which it sounds like you certainly do!
Clinique Wrappings for me today. In day two of Lauderpalooza…….
Every year I plan to snatch up a bottle of Wrappings, but I always get sidetracked by something new, discontinued, or on sale. One of these days they’re going to discontinue or reformulate and I will be very sorry.
I acquired mine at the outlet store that has Tom Ford and all the Lauder children. I should not go in there! I always sin mightily!
OH. You know, I had forgotten that Clinique was now an EL holding. I do okay with Wrappings, no Dreaded Lauder Base in that.
Estée Lauder founded Clinique as a separate company in1968. It came under the huge Lauder umbrella some time in the 1990s…..
I’m unscented today so as to better sniff the pink jasmine (Jasminum polyanthum) that is beginning to bloom in my neighborhood. It is deliriously and deliciously fragrant. The “eyes rolled in the back of my head, breathing deep until I see spots” type of fragrant. And strangely, this year as I sniff pink jasmine I keep thinking of Juicy Fruit gum.
The Lauder scents this week remind me of the EL perfume minis I gave away over the years. Do you remember when EL gifts with purchase were abundantly generous and almost always included a small glass spray bottle of perfume? Not a plastic sample, but a beautiful little bottle. Do they still do that? White Linen, Cinnabar, Beautiful, and Youth Dew were most common. I almost never wore them so I gave them to friends and co-workers or left them in the ladies room at work where they would disappear. I hope they were loved.
Some days I do that- the most plain soap (or I will scrub down with a bit of olive oil, ancient Roman style) so I can better appreciate blooming flowers. In my neighborhood, the early cherries and plums are starting to bloom, bulb flowers are coming up and the air smells WONDERFUL.
Spring blooms make me smile. Wonderful is the perfect word.
Wonderful. Take another deep breath for me
And done!
I have the same response to pink jasmine — I practically hyperventilate when I’m around it!
I once obtained an EL “House of Fragrance” 12-mini set from a secondhand shop– deeply marked down because one mini (Beyond Paradise) was missing. I love those tiny bottles and still cherish them. I love that you secret-gifted them to your colleagues!
SOTD is Scherer because I was in a rush and couldn’t find a Lauder. Yesterday I sprayed myself with EL Knowing, knowing that I liked it. Fail. I used to like it, but something has happened. Very disappointing.
Oh no! Hopefully there was just some old air-exposed stuff in the sprayer and the whole bottle hasn’t turned.
Today has been a rollercoaster of scents! I started with a sample of Florabellio. Usually I tend to like most of the Diptyques, but frankly this one was nauseating. And I have no room in my life today for nausea since I *actually* threw up during my workout yesterday! I need a few days before I can feel like that again! So then I showered and tried Musc Monoi. It’s okay I guess, but not really projecting, so then I tried 2 sprays of California Reverie on my other wrist, which is beautiful but I can also barely smell that. I guess my post-super-hot-shower dry skin is just sucking up the scents today! So, I’ll probably end up trying more things today, just gotta figure out what!
Oh no! So sorry to hear about the rough workout. Just pushed it too hard?
Yes… I am more or of shape than I realized
and the Insanity program is intense!
Whoa! Insanity is REALLY tough- you should have started out with T25, then Insanity! You basically doing HIIT 6 days a week (you really should do it 2-3 times a week) Take breaks between days, watch the burpees (they can screw up the shoulders if you are not careful) and eat a very light snack before hand, not a full meal.
You know I’ve actually done Insanity before, so I knew what I was in for. I am usually fairly active and fit since i play in tons of volleyball tournaments and leagues but I haven’t done much since November (and got pregnant and miscarried in that time), which has just left me apparently in much worse shape than I expected. But summer volleyball season is coming up so I gotta get back to it!
Sorry for your loss, Sun Mi! I can’t do volleyball as the resulting black and blue marks on my arms turn all sorts of yucky yellow and green and neither is conducive to a professional look!
Wow. I have *never* worked out that hard!
Me either! It was too much lol.
Happy super Wednesday! I was waiting in the chemist yesterday so had another spray of Poison Girl and this time was struck by how harsh the opening orange note is. I didn’t notice that the first timeI tried it…maybe as I had just come out of Lush so had numb nose issues. Also, the dry down was somehow muddy on me as if the orange and vanilla were fighting it out with coconut musk / sharp sandalwood.
I sprayed Coco Noir on my other arm and I think that its beautifully blended nature served to highlight the gnawing edge of the Poison Girl. I needed this comparison in order to ‘see’ the Poison. Just realised in writing that that I still see scents…
Furthermore…in summing up….my son’s medicine seemed to echo some of PG’s notes. But…I’d still rather have a poison flanker than a new grape cordial perfume.
Lush’s The Comforter shower gel smells eerily like Robitussin, a popular cold medicine in the USA. Gave it a smell this past weekend and nearly gagged.
Robitussin!!
Oh gawd yes, I went to Lush today to buy the yuzu cacao shower and sniffed the Comforter bottle… It was dreadful. No way.
Happy march! Only two more weeks of winter!
SOTD: 1000 by Patou. This is such a lovely, shimmering, herbally scent, very crisp but welcoming and sticks nice and close to skin. This perfume is a Portland walk in misty fog, with moss and herb all about. I am wearing this layered with Lords of Misrule shower gel, which meshes perfectly.
OOTD: Old- very old- yellow silk blouse, wide blue cotton trousers, jaunty blue silk scarf, black pumps.
1000 is wonderful. Have you got the EDP or the EDT?
I have the EdT, which is actually rather perfect! It turns into a skin scent in mid-afternoon and I can still smell it if I am working out!
Ooohhh, Patou 1000! You smell absolutely wonderful
Do you have the pure perfume? Because in that case you will smell lovely long into the night with the most soft, deep, magical drydown ever…
I see now that me and austenfan had sort of the same question
I have the the EdT which I got for a ridiculous price via FragranceNet. I got a massive tester bottle, and all I need is a spritz, maybe two. I will keep an eye out for the parfum, but I love the EdT turns into a lovely skin. It’s such a wonderful, wonderful scent.
You smell great, Robin. I’m wearing Femme today. So inappropriate for work, but my no nonsense co workers are fortunately unaware of such codes, or so I hope, lol…
Are there rules about perfume in Brazil? I’m not aware of any in the Netherlands. I wish I could try vintage Femme, it seems so wonderful.
I have a small bottle of vintage Femme, but I wonder if I am anosmic to some of its aspects? To me it smells almost nothing, whereas my husband thinks it is lovely.
Lol, Austenfan! I wouldn’t like the guys to realize it’s a sexy perfume, but they seem completely clueless and probably think I have the worst taste for perfumes, anyway. I’m almost thankful not to know vintage Femme, so I can enjoy the current. (But then, of course, I’d jump at it if I had a chance…)
same with me and vintage L’Heure Bleue. I love my bottle of current extrait, and have trepidations about trying vintage.
I usually don’t do well with ignorance, but have to agree with the adagio that says sometimes it’s a bliss.
Ha, good luck!
I got caught in the decant trap set by STC and also bought the travel spray of Carnal Flower, which means today I could drain my sample of the latter on my person.
20% off Carnal Flower is not a bad deal. I was eyeing that as well.
You have a of f company in that trap! Me included????
Yikes, that’s supposed to read “a lot of company”
You smell beautiful!
Thank you!
YAY! You smell lovely.
It is one that makes me happy!
In the name of science and sniffing, I am wearing Do Son EDT on my left arm and the EDP on my right.
About 1.5 hours in and the EDT smells slightly more aquatic and sharper but overall very similar.
This experiment will continue all day but please go about your usual business if possible.
Well. Those of us who are working hard not to hold our breath about the results of this very serious endeavor, expect Regular Updates! Wandering off to see which her sample is, EDT or EDP…
They are really, really similar. Almost to the point where I wonder if the EDP is really EDP.
Both of them are the little spray bottles directly from Diptyque though so I assume each is marked accurately but boy they are close…
It is kind of disappointing b/c I really love to smell and compare the differences between concentrations and ponder as I sniff and I don’t have much to ponder here.
Oh that is disappointing as I’ve noticed (and appreciated) big differences in EDT v EDP for L’Ombre and Philosykos. Much richer, both, in EDP.
Yes, the edp of L’Ombre choked me out, which is a first for a Diptyque. The tomato leaf note was overwhelming.
I am very interested in this experiment, as sometimes with Diptyque I find the EDT lighter in a way that I enjoy. (Usually I am after the EDP, as I seem to be one of those people with scent eating flesh.) So I’m sorry to hear there was not much difference here!
I’m in Chene for the second day straight. I had the remains of it on this morning from yesterday, then decided to put more on, layered with To Bee. They’re excellent together! Though my sample of To Bee is running out… might have to be my next purchase.
On another note, still no baby, but I’ve been walking basement stairs all morning! I’m optimistic.
You smell great, and best wishes for SOON.
Perhaps you should make complicated and expensive plans to do something really fun. I’m pretty sure the universe can’t stand up to that kind of temptation.
Hope it’s soon!
Yes. Theater tickets are always a good idea.
Truth! LOL The best advice! Plan something, and Baby will be sure to change plans….but just the next 20 years or so….hee hee
Haha! Great idea!!!
Still wishing you a 30 minute labor followed by a painless delivery. Keep us posted.
Best of luck!
Needed a warm embrace to face the cold this morning, so slathered some Coco lotion. Mmm!
Morning, everyone. The first two days of teaching have been hectic, but loads of fun, and That Lecture even got smatterings of laughter and desultory applause! Phew…I can still do this! And now it’s Wednesday-work-at-home day. Eggzellent.
I’m greeting the sun in Ostara, for no better reason than that I saw the pretty yellow box on the shelf. I like this: it’s a B/B+ perfume for me, not a deep love, but a welcome, well-liked member of my perfume community. It doesn’t have particularly marked personality or flair, nor say anything new about the world, but that’s OK. Its very non-controversial presence is exactly the point for me, especially on a day when I want to achieve a lot.
Be well and safe everywhere, NSTites.
Congrats to your successful lectures! About Ostara: I got a little panicky because I heard it had been discontinued after only eight months of production, so I bought a FB unsniffed. Wish I hadn’t, because I don’t get it. Everybody raves about it, so I wonder what I am missing… will continue sniffing it and see if it grows on me.
Isabel, I know what you mean–when I first smelt Ostara, I thought, “Huh! Is that it?” But it kind of crept up on me: I think it’s an oddity, because it’s quite strong, but not especially moving and has powerful notes but doesn’t have much to say. Ever had a boss who occupies a really important position, but for the life of you, you can’t see how s/he was ever appointed? Doesn’t appear to be because of talent, experience, or drive and vision. I think Ostara is a bit like that boss: does a perfectly adequate job on the day, but isn’t especially gifted. I put the recent Alaia in the same category, actually: nice enough, but not outstanding
Agree completely, for both Ostara and Alaia! (Although at least with the perfume, I’m glad others are getting more enjoyment from it than I. If only the boss side of the analogy could be so redeemed!)
It is so wonderful, perfume, isn’t it. I adore Ostara with a passion, would consider a second backup. To me it is a 5 star boss, currently one of three to four most honoured perfume community members. Hope it will grow on you Isabel.
SOTD; Seville A L’Aube from my new bottle. It’s so dreamy and uplifting. Topped up this evening with Epic, for my evening course.
Wearing a lovely mustard vintage style cashmere jumper from Brora, as this is definitely a ‘yellow’ scent to me, with a Paisley purple and mustard etro scarf. All this colour and gorgeous perfume is cheering me up on a grey and miserable rainy day!
Ooooh – yes to the Etro scarf, yes to Epic! Fabulous all around, midear.
Thank you lovely!
You look lovely in Brora. Wonderful cashmere but they are investment pieces ????
Yes, most definitely!- this one was birthday present from hubby about 5 years ago, I worry about moths something chronic!
Nice!
Thank u Annicky, it’s one of my favourite outfits, very good pick me up!
Pacifica Nerola Orange Blossom. Despite what the calendar says, it’s been spring here since last month; I give up on fighting the weather and trying to keep wearing wintery scents!
So many comments! I still haven’t caught up with yesterday’s. Not possessing any Estee Lauders, I think I might go with Miss Dior today.
Oh, and you smell WONDERFUL. I still haven’t bought any Dior perfumes, but when I do, that will be the first.
Excellent plan–I think the Miss Dior Original (as I believe it’s now called?) is a pretty good resurrection, all things considered!
Wearing one spritz of Patchouli 24 – underspritzing makes it quite soft and cozy, to my surprise.
That sounds very nice. Definitely not a big spritz perfume for me, but in the right dosage invigorating.
Possibly my favourite Le Labo.
Wow, cuteness overload from that bunny!
I’m testing Jeffrey Dame’s Gardenia Soliflore, which smells darned good.
I just ordered Gardenia and New Musk oils from the International Shop. I might have to take them on day trips to the cactus house so they don’t get too homesick (or cold).
I was glad to see that I have a New Musk sample, too.
Wherever you lead I follow!
SOTD is Amazone….very lovely, good for an almost spring day. The only Lauder fragranced thing I have is a pleasures lotion from a GWP from last spring which I never wore. Don’t think I ever wore Pleasures, so I will give it a go on Friday. I went through a whole bottle of Beyond Paradise quite a few years ago, it was a gift, and I kinda liked it, but reminds me of a (bad?) romance with a guy I really liked, only to find out 2 months in he was engaged, the snake, LOL. Did not go far enough to really hurt, was more insulted that he made me the other woman, ended that on the phone as soon as I found out. (Shakes head, men, WTH?)
I love Amazone. I was just eyeing up my bottle yesterday evening thinking of the spring days to come and getting to wear it. It is just a lovely white flowers/chypre. Just beautiful!
Agree so much!
I assume the reason you went through a whole bottle is because it shattered on the ground after you threw it at his head?
LOL…wish I would have, but I never saw him again to throw anything at him…did hear he got married, so she never found out about the snake. Still can’t wear Beyond Paradise, but I like many other fumes so much better, so , no great loss, of the fume, or the guy.
Amazone is really lovely. I don’t know why I don’t own any.
Ugh my sympathies. I will never understand how anyone can think that’s an acceptable thing to do.
Ain’t that the truth!!
Very late to the blog today! It’s been one of those days, but it’s finally getting back to a normal vibe!
SOTD: Estee Lauder Brasil Dream. Got this bottle via Ebay for less than $20 last year, and it’s not bad! It’s a bit too heavy handed for my taste, but I sprayed a itty bitty amount and I’m enjoying it in a small dosage..
$20 is the new free. Nice buy!
It’s March first and we are in the middle of a snow storm here. The worst road conditions I have seen in a long time. After a horrid day at work I made it home to now worry about my children getting home. I just want to sit and cry. I am wearing Coco today. On a positive note, my Josie Maran sugar scrub arrived and I will be using it soon to wash the day away. Sorry about the whining.
I am so sorry for your day. I hope the kids come home safe. We are expecting a big snow storm tonight here too but it is not here yet.
Coco has the power to transform whining into a righteous growl! Hope everyone gets home safely and you can relax in a warm bath or shower, as you deserve.
I’m so sorry about the stupid day. Just in case it makes you feel better, I jealous of your Josie Maran – I want to try her products, but they are difficult to get here.
I just started using her products last year, and I have really noticed an improvement in my skin. I have tried about four of her scented body butters, and have not been disappointed.
Hang in there Lillyjo! As soon as everyone is safe, sound, and warm, do something for yourself that makes you happy! You deserve it!
Thanks everyone, you all are so wonderful!
Sending you hugs. Hope they get home soon.
Everyone has a right to wine. I hope tomorrow will be better!
I hope everyone is home and snuggled up now and you can breathe easy.
Yes! They are home safe, a little late, but safe. A mothers worry….sigh….
That’s such good news.
I’m wearing Arquiste Boutonniere No.7 today. It was hiding behind something else in my closet, so I had neglected it for a while.
I was just cleaning my shoe cupboard and discovered 4 perfume bottles stuffed into my cowboy boots. I must have hidden them there when my mother came to stay at Christmas. I can hear her tut tutting and muttering profligate from here.
HA! That’s an amazing story, I love all parts of it.
Except that I’m 52 years old!
Ha! I stand by my original comment. My maternal grandfather died recently, and from the extensive navigation of that between my mother and grandmother, I can tell you–for better or for worse–these mother-daughter dynamics can continue at least ’til you are in your mid-sixties and your mother is 90! For that matter, I’m pretty sure that if my great-grandmother were still with us, it’d be the exact same between her at 115 and my grandmother at 90
Ha! I’ve found minis that fell off the shelf in my closet much the same way.
Hilarious! Of course there is no way I could hide hundreds of bottles so I just have to grin and bear it. Plus she hoards clothes so she doesn’t have much moral high ground to stand on.
I am gonna have to try that one again; I was very impressed with the brief sniffs I’ve gotten to take, it may well need to join my collection!
I like it a lot.. I bought a slightly used bottle so I got it for a decent price.
Oh, congrats! That’s so perfect; I’m sure even if just subconsciously, the price is probably what muted my otherwise very favorable reaction to it. A partial bottle would be a great solution!
On this first day of meteorological spring, winter returned with a vengeance, so my SOTD challenge was to find a scent that was warm and comforting on a cold, snowy winter’s day yet would keep alive those thoughts of spring I refuse to relinquish. My choice was La Maison de la Vanille Vanille Sauvage de Madagascar. The sweet warm vanilla touched with incense soothes and hugs the soul while the lavender and geranium notes hint at my garden’s delights if I can just be patient awhile longer . . .
That sounds like a nice choice. I want to cry everytime I look out the window.
60’s next week in our area, Lucy, hang in there!
Spring is coming! I have some cardinals nesting near my bedroom window, and they are definitely getting ready for chicks. My garden catalogs are piling up, and the days are getting a bit longer. HANG IN THERE! Your fragrance sounds amazing!
We have cardinals year round but in the last few weeks I’ve heard them singing their special mating song and the chirping of the other birds I can’t see burrowed in the thick pine trees is also different, too, so I know they’re also thinking spring!
This perfume sounds magical. I don’t know it, unfortunately.
I received 3 of the LMDLV vanillas a couple of years ago from a perfumista friend who decided she really didn’t care for vanilla fragrances. And I love them, so I’m grateful.
mmmmm. Thanks for your description of Madagascar. I’ve wanted to try that one for awhile.
You’ve sold me on it too, will have to keep my eye out for a chance to smell!
I have the 5 original ones from that collection and that one is my favorite!
I”m going through perfume guilt. Again. I have so much of it. I know I should just use and enjoy what I have but the STC sale was too much of a temptation for me. I bought a decant of Papillon Salome. 8mls should last me quite awhile. In the meantime I’m still really enjoying that L’air de Rien. It’s up on the dresser so I’m more likely to use it than when it was tucked away in the filing cabinet with all the other bottles. That’s one that I can really over-spray because it is very light and stays that way on me.
The other perfume I’ve re-discovered since returning from India is Parfum Sacre. I just have another STC decant of the EDT latest formulation and it is just so beautiful. I’m really appreciating the subtle spicy rose in it, a real girly perfume for me.
SOTE: L’air de Rien.
Whither the guilt? Those sound lovely; I’m sure you will enjoy them thoroughly!
Don’t feel guilty, just enjoy it to the last drop! Salome is lovely.
