Calvin Klein CK2 ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 26 October 2015 8 Comments

Calvin Klein CK2

Calvin Klein will launch CK2, a new unisex followup to 1994's CK One. Others in the in the CK series include CK Be (1996), CKIN2U (2007) and CK Free (2009). According to the brand's chief marketing officer, Melisa Goldie,

The launch of CK2 represents an extension of our overall brand strategy to reach a younger consumer base through modern, authentic storytelling. Given its relevant cultural messaging and youthful spirit, CK2 aligns well with this evolving approach to consumer engagement.

The "urban woody fresh" fragrance includes notes of wasabi, mandarin, violet leaf, wet cobblestones, orris, rose, vetiver, incense and sandalwood.

Calvin Klein CK2 will debut in February, and will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml, and in a pocket spray and rollerball.

I assume Calvin Klein is still making money from the fragrance line, because they’re cranking out six to twelve new (or “new”) scents a year, but they’re almost all flankers at this point, and I wonder when was the last one that actually made a splash. Was it Secret Obsession in 2008, or all the way back to Euphoria in 2005? I know Downtown and Beauty weren’t that successful (but at least Beauty got a flanker or two: it seems like Downtown just died on the runway).

I also wonder if CK can make another dent into the youth market, give the impenetrable glut that currently exists. No way can this be a game-changer the way CKOne was.

Yes, sounds like they’re taking another shot at the young ‘uns since CK In2U didn’t take the world by storm. And they’ve since had to phase out the whole CK clothing line. Does seem a long shot.

Don’t know how Reveal is doing for the main Calvin Klein line, but I thought it was reasonably good.

Both Reveals didn’t last but one season. Coming soon to a Marshall’s near you.

Both versions of Reveal (men’s and women’s) are already in Marshall’s. I just saw them this morning. Yes, this morning. : /

Well, that doesn’t always mean much. There’s lots of stuff in discount stores that’s also still being sold in fancy department stores…but maybe Reveal did not do well, no idea.

You can buy $200 CK logo limited edition logo sweats on the CK site. Or just hit up a thrift store for the originals!

Since CK One came out in 94 it has always been in my collection, in bigger or smaller bottles, I have memories of wearing it at the beach in Sitges, Spain. Everyone was wearing it! Curious about no2 though, although I wonder it can compete with it´s iconic predessor.
