Four new fragrances from Lush Gorilla Perfumes

Posted by Robin on 24 February 2015 20 Comments

Lush, The President's Hat

Lush's Gorilla Perfume has launched The President's Hat, Stayin' Alive, Princess Cottongrass and Dad's Garden - Chamomile And Honeysuckle, new fragrances in Series 3: Death, Decay and Renewal. Series 3 also features Smuggler's Soul, Kerbside Violet, All Good Things, Dad's Garden Lemon Tree and Death & Decay.

The President's Hat (shown) ~ "Inhale this earthy oakmoss perfume to take inspiration from the story of a hat passed between strangers. A fragrance which takes you on a journey through French cafe culture in autumnal notes all the way to a perfumer's home, rich in patchouli and vanilla." In 10 and 50 ml.

Stayin' Alive ~ "Take a walk on the wild side and strut down streets paved in colourful vetivert and vanilla, leaving spicy clouds in your wake. A sensual rollercoaster to swoop you up in its embrace like a lover and wrap you in technicolour when the clouds draw in. Breathing in this zesty sandalwood cocktail evokes a zest for life and laughter." In 10 and 50 ml.

Princess Cottongrass ~ "A secretive scent inspired by the Swedish tale of a lost princess who waits by a lake in the forest, hoping to reclaim the golden heart necklace she lost to the depths. Walk along the lakeside where you may see the slender cottongrass plants watching over the water and you will know she is still waiting. A delicate alien floral, both sweet and distant as it blossoms on your skin." In 10 and 30 ml.

Dad's Garden - Chamomile And Honeysuckle ~ "Simon created this sweet, green perfume in homage of his father’s garden, and the result is a fragrance landscape of honeysuckle. Lush orange flower is calm rather than zesty in this perfume rich in Roman chamomile and lavender, but the resulting bouquet is stirring rather than dreamy. Wear to be reminded of long gone summer evenings in shades of gold." In 10 and 30 ml.

Lush The President's Hat, Stayin' Alive, Princess Cottongrass and Dad's Garden - Chamomile And Honeysuckle are currently available at Lush UK.

haven’t sampled any of the Lush …but the oakmoss one (President’s Hat) sounds interesting as I love oakmoss…also Dad’s Garden (b/c of the honeysuckle note)……easily enough to access and sample at the mall!

Don’t hold your breath. We are still waiting for last year’s new releases (assuming you’re in North America).

Thanks for letting me know! (and with so many new releases I will let this one go!) I’ll stick to sniffing my oakmoss straight out of the container :) !!!

Robin, I was looking at the Lush UK website and it seems they’ve relaunched many perfumes that I thought were discontinued. Furze, Lord of Goathorn, The Bug, Smell of Weather Turning, etc. They are in the new packaging.

Of these new ones, Dad’s Garden and President’s Hat sound the most interesting to me.

Oh, I knew that…some of those never even disappeared from the UK site at all. Some of those disappeared for a very short time while they redid the packaging. Question is, when will we get them here :-)

        Oh, didn’t know that. Thanks.

I think that the perfumes are only made in England (Lush NA manufactures everything else in Vancouver). Maybe that complicates things a little. I don’t know what the holdup is but I hope they get things sorted. I’ve been waiting for Snickers Soul for ages and it’s driving me bonkers.

In other news regarding nice things that we can’t have, the UK kitchen recently had a solid perfume called 1000 Kisses: osmanthus, myrrh, and labdanum. Yum.

1000 Kisses is an old one, originally from B Never Too Busy to Be Beautiful…I have a travel size of it (in liquid). Very pretty!

I had a solid of this and loved it. Then I got a 30ml bottle and for some reason I find it really harsh! In the meantime, my solid seems to have turned :(

Robin, Inwas at the Lush store near Herald Square and the perfumes in new packaging are a ailable there. Alas, I don’t recall all but I definitely saw Simkim Girls and Sun. It was slim pickings for the 10 mLs.

Merlin, that’s too bad! I do like it but admittedly almost never wear it.

Hajusuuri, you mean even Series 3?? That’s great news!

No, not series 3…older scents in new packaging although didn’t Sikkim Girls and Sun come out < 2 years ago?

Gotcha, thanks! Yes, those are “series 2” now I guess.

I like Jonas’ picks as well, especially the vanilla/patch combo in the President’s Hat.

In Australia we have Smugglers Soul, but in exchange most of series 2 disappeared, and the selection at the moment is rather thin… one can only hope that a bunch of them will arrive to plump up the range…

Not going to repeat what I’ve said at least a couple of times before….but I have The Presidents Hat and love it. Both iterations actually – the perfume and the book which inspired it. The book is very charming and the section relating to the perfumer recognisable from a perfumista’s viewpoint – I heartily recommend. As for the perfume – lovely and earthy and and woody and comforting.

Perhaps the issue of distribution in the US may be due to shipping regs? None of the new ones are on the US website, and I recently put in an order for Lush products and promptly got a notice that one of my product orders could not be fulfilled due to some regulation–it was the small bottle of Karma I had added at the last minute. I didn’t inquire further since it was a whim purchase…

I’d like sniff Dad’s garden. I always wondered how chamomile would play with others!

I recently blind bought a small bottle of The Presidents Hat just because it has real oak moss in it. It’s an unusual fragrance but in a way it’s reminiscent of the old chypres of the 60’s and 70’s. It opens strong and pungent…a bit rough really but woody and spicy but quickly settles to a pungent woody oak moss but the dry down is amazing!! It’s ALMOST like old Misouko …..honest….it’s the oak moss and it’s glorious!! If no-one has ever smelt it (and in this sanitized controlled perfume striaghtjacket of a world not many have) the get hold of a sample and breath deeply. So great of Lush to do this and stick two fingers up to the be auroras of Europe. The only other fragrance I know that has it in any amount is Amouage Jubilation which is beautiful but so expensive. So TPH is def worth a sample….blind buy just for the experience and it lasts well over 12 hours on my skin and over 2 days on clothes!!
