Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Male ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 27 December 2012 19 Comments

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Male

Jean Paul Gaultier will launch Le Beau Mâle in February. Le Beau Mâle is a fresher variation on 1995's Le Mâle, and uses the same name as the brand's masculine beauty range.

Le Beau Mâle was developed by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, who also developed the original Le Mâle fragrance. Notes include mint, lavender, vanilla, sandalwood and musk.

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Mâle will be available in 75 and 125 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products.

Good pick, hopefully — I do like that bottle. Worried about just how much fresher it might be, but we’ll see!

Yes, there’s enough fresh in original Le Male.

Me too. And how. I love how his ads always have the right dose of playfulness and goofiness in them. It somehow buffers any embarrassment around viewing this exquisite man laying around half-naked.

Interestingly, Tom Ford never pulls this off. JPG ads seem like fun cheesecake, while Ford’s cross the fine line into the profane and you always feel a little violated by them (which, I’m sure, he’d be happy to know). And it’s not like they’re so entirely different, too.

Well, all the JPG ads are silly I guess. But I like them.

It’s probably the summer limited edition of le male they release every year, only this time with a different name…

Nope, they play around a little more with the notes for the Summer edition, which since i think ’08 or ’09 have been different versions of the scent… still “Le Male” but with new notes added or others toned back and new fragrances highlighted… am eagerly awaiting the Summer “Le Male” as well! Always Love JPG! and Kokorico is coming to the States too this year…. Lots to love from Jean Paul!

I like the combo of mint and vanilla. Kind of mint sorbet-ish :).

I usually like Gaultier, but I have to admit I’m completely turned off by the bear skin rug in the ad. Not cute.
