Frog legs and a dash of mace

Posted by Robin on 16 September 2010 16 Comments

With the first scent to hit shelves in Spring 2012, fans can only imagine what the singer is cooking up. A spritz of sirloin steak, anyone? Or perhaps frog legs and a dash of mace. But like everything the pop star does, NewsFeed is sure eau de Gaga will simply have no limits.

— In case you missed the news, yes, Lady Gaga will be doing a fragrance with Coty. Time's Newsfeed weighed in with Inevitably, Lady Gaga to Create Perfume Line. Yes, it was inevitable, but anybody who knows the celebrity fragrance market already knows that there will be limits, and then some. I'd bank on strawberry sorbet and pink pepper over frog legs and mace.

The word is that it is called Bad Romance but no confirmation on that. I bet it’ll have some odd made up notes but in reality smell pretty tame. I just hope it isn’t a fruity floral.

Most likely, and I hope so too!

Does Time think that Gaga is a chef? Why would this smell like steak or frog legs? I think the fact that Gaga is working with Coty (and not a niche firm a la Tilda Swinton) gives us a pretty good idea of what the end result will be.

I assume the steak is because she just wore a dress made of steak to some event. Don’t know about the frog legs & mace.

Yes, I believe the steak refers to the “meat dress” she just wore to the VMA Awards last Sunday. The frog legs probably refer to the “Kermit the Frog” coat she wore a year or so ago. Very funny by the way, completely covered in Kermit heads. Not so sure about the mace? Unless it is that spikey silver head dress that topped another gown. And even more disturbing…why do I know so many Lady Gaga fashions off the top of my head?!

LOL…hey, I was impressed! I never really knew who she was until they did a Glee episode on her last year. Have still never heard her sing. Going to go google the kermit head coat though, that sounds awesome…

Ok, gotta say the the idea is funnier than the actual execution. Got a good laugh out of pictures of Kermit wearing a Lady Gaga coat though.

What Bill Kroko? I only thought of the True Blood character. Of trashy celebrities, I actually like Lady Gaga. Her costumes and performance artist like stunts are fantastic. And it seems she it least claims to be a parody of a pop princess. That the mindless, but so catchy songs are just an act as much as the meat suit. If this is a watery floral or just floral rather than a fruity floral I will buy it. I hope it will be pretty good at least, in the lines of Latifah and Sarah Jessica.

I like her. She writes her own songs, and she hardly ever uses Autotune!

I am with you – strawberry sorbet and pink pepper it will likely be. It takes a certain something to create a new and daring perfume that is also good. That certain something is not the desire to make more money through your perfume launch. That only leads to sorbet and pink pepper because they think that’s what everyone wants. (Kate Moss’ perfumes are really bad, for example.)

Wouldn’t it be nice if this just blew the doors of the place and was original, and not the standard fruity stuff.

Hopefully by the time it comes out, I will have figured out a way to get that horrid meat dress out of the “ohhgawwwwwwwd! why is this stuck in my head” mental files.
