Ramalama Bang Bang

Posted by Robin on 15 April 2009 21 Comments

Another Anne Hathaway for Lancôme Magnifique commercial (if you missed the original, it's here), this one presumably to promote the new Eau de Toilette version. Pretty sure the music is Ramalama (Bang Bang) by Róisín Murphy.

I love this song! And, for that matter, most everything Róisín Murphy does:)

      It’s a perfect fit w/ the commercial.

I like Hathaway and I like Magnifique. I wonder how it’s doing.

No idea! Wish there was an easy way to find out what is selling & what isn’t.

She blew me away at the oscars, up there belting it out with Hugh Jackman. I think she will be wonderful as Judy Garland in the upcoming biopic. Finally Hollywood cast the right girl!

I did not know she (or HJ!) sang, & had no idea there was an upcoming biopic of JG, much less that AH was in it. So thank you all around!

There’s ANOTHER Judy Garland biopic? I thought the last one was pretty good with Judy Davis. I guess they just have to keep making things over and over and over…..

Yes, she’s got those enormous dark eyes. And lots of presence. Didn’t know she sang (I avoid awards shows!) but have always found her to be a compelling actress.

I’m embarrassed to report that we’ve got 4 of them, for 3 people. I just tend to stick to a few shows & whatever I’ve got from Netflix…and the Oscars make me crazy any more (too long & dull) so I don’t watch.

or maybe you are at the computer instead in front of the telly?

I hear you—I never ever watch award shows, too self congratulatory for me, sad to say we have 5 tv’s for 3 people…maybe I can count the dog and cats? then it won’t sound so bad.

Yes, that’s true too…the internets use up much of my tv time 🙂

Glad someone has more tvs than I do!

HA HA HA HA! We have ONE tv for FIVE people! My children think I’m cruel. I tell them to stop whining and go chop some wood… no, I’m kidding. Actually, it’s an exercise in cooperation. Also, my husband is a tightwad; it’s that farmer DNA.

The tv is frequently OFF. And when it’s on, it’s usually on Discovery, History Channel, Animal Planet, ESPN, or the Food Network.

But to the point: I like Anne Hathaway. However, I don’t like Magnifique, although the notes seem made for me (saffron, rose, woods? mmm). There’s something harsh in both the edp and edt versions that burns the back of my throat. I don’t know what it is, but am guessing it’s synthetic. Jasmine, maybe? The woodsy base is Cashmeran, but I generally like that.

Go chop wood, I liked that! My husband is a sports fiend, which accounts for all our tvs….it outweighs the “tightwad” aspect.

I think I’m one of the few who fell for Magnifique. Had to get a bottle after I used up a sample. Not one of my very favorite scents, but I wore it quite a bit last season.

I thought it was really nicely done…but it doesn’t have many fans on NST.

I found it certainly more interesting than most of the dept. store berry-fluff — similar in some ways to Ta’if and Dark Rose, both of which I liked — but that one thing that burned the back of my throat just did me in. Maybe it was that I smelled the high-end stuff first? And that this one seemed a bit synthetic to me?

It does have a very synthetic feel, although that doesn’t always bother me.
