Etat Libre d’Orange ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 23 August 2006 11 Comments

Etat Libre d'Orange Jasmin et Cigarette fragranceAs previously reported, Etat Libre d'Orange is a new niche line that will launch in France this September with six unisex fragrances. Here are more detailed descriptions of the scents:

Jasmin et Cigarette is by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu, and features notes of jasmine absolute, tobacco, hay, apricot, tonka bean, tumeric, cedar and musk.

Encens & Bubblegum is also by Antoine Maisondieu, and has notes of raspberry, peach, lily of the valley, orange blossom, vanilla, musk and incense.

Vraie Blonde, the third entry by Antoine Maisondieu, is composed of aldehydes, champagne, rose, peach, white pepper, myrrh, patchouli and suede.

Secretions Magnifiques was created by Antoine Lie. The notes include iodé accord, adrenaline accord, blood accord, milk accord, iris, coconut, sandalwood and opoponax.

Je Suis Un Homme, also by Antoine Lie, features bergamot, orange bigarade, citron, myrtle, cinnamon, clove, cognac accord, leather, patchouli and animalic notes.

Putain des Palaces was composed by Nathalie Feisthauer and has notes of rose absolute, violet, leather, lily of the valley, mandarine, ginger, rice powder, amber and animalic notes.

There are longer descriptions on the Etat Libre d'Orange website. They did not respond to an email inquiry; if anyone can find out if these are coming to the United States or if they will ship overseas, do comment!

Update: see a review of Etat Libre d'Orange Vraie Blonde, or a review of Secretions Magnifiques or Jasmin et Cigarette.

I think I'll stay away from Putain des Palaces. LOL! Vraie Blonde and Sécrétions Magnifiques aren't much better name-wise. LOL! again. Pity: they sound intriguing (the others, less controversial – although, Jasmin et Cigarette…, too). I *couldn't* wear a scent called Putain des Palaces. No way.

Hmm… I should have checked out the website before commenting. Definitely not for me. I'm not into porn. LOL!

J, the names don't bother me…nobody ever asks what I'm wearing anyway ;-)

I want to try that Jasmin et Cigarette, it sounds lovely.

And so they are meant to, I would guess :-)

Hahaha, awesome names. I am particularly attarcted by Secretions Magnifiques…blood accord? My inner goth, which has been sound asleep for about 12 years, might have just been awakened :-)

I have *got* to try the Jasmin et Cigarette one – tobacco, hay, cedar and jasmine…sigh. And I may have to have the Je Sui un Homme (despite being the wrong sex) and Putain des Palaces (amusing). The graphics are adolescent, but if the scents are great, I don't care. But I think I'll pass on the one w/ a blood accord. I'm wondering what the price point will be. Did I miss that on the site?

I didn't see prices either. I don't think the line is “officially” launched yet, so perhaps we'll see more info on the website later (?)

My favorite of the names might be Encens & Bubblegum…but doubt seriously that it would be my favorite of the actual fragrances.

And hey, if this doesn't awake your inner goth, just wait for the Marilyn Manson fragrance, LOL…

Nobody ever asks what I'm wearing either, but I really have a problem with the way they're advertising their fragrances (it goes that little bit too far into pornography) so I wouldn't want to give them my money.

I didn't take it that way, exactly, but I do know exactly what you mean.
