Lancome opens in NYC & other perfume news

Posted by Robin on 25 March 2006 14 Comments

Lancome boutique openingLancome opened its first boutique and spa in Manhattan yesterday, on Columbus Avenue in the Upper West Side:

Traffic literally stopped thanks to 10 beautiful New York men, donning traditional French berets, who lured neighborhood residents into the new boutique with dashing smiles, pink roses and deluxe samples of Lancome's hottest products.

I am just hoping this means we'll see the Mille et Une Rose fragrance a little sooner... (via prnewswire)

Boys will be boys — until they grow up and discover body sprays, as columnist Ana Veciana-Suarez recounts in the Miami Herald:

My son uses his allowance to buy Old Spice Red Zone by the case. He needs such quantities because he sprays himself all over, head to toe and back, then sideways, every morning without fail. Apparently, a man his age has yet to learn that, as with many things in life, a little can go a long way.

It does seem to take boys a long time to learn that You Only Need a Little. My wonderful 18 year-old used to be a small planetoid of pure Boss, until his very sweet girlfriend got tactful with him.

How cute! My son is 7 and has not noticed any of the “grown up man things” yet, LOL…

    Hi again!

I've been perusing your past article about Le Sillage de la Reine that was dated on Feb 25th. You mentioned that the price was 1500euros.I'm curious because the shop that mentioned(Harrod's) is of course,English. So I'm wanting to know was that accurately listed as euros or British pounds? Thanks!

I think the young men now wear so much because they want all the girls in the room to smell them from near or far. LOL From far I guess it attracts the girls, and maybe they spray so much because they feel that will make it last all day at school…? My nephews don't take their body sprays with them, so that's the only reason I can think of for now.

Will one of our NYC friends please, in the name of research, go to the new Lancome store and see if Mille Et Une Rose is there? In the name of research, yes, of course….. lol!

    Thanks R!

C, the price is in euros. If you go back to that article, you can follow the link to the UK Times Online which actually printed the price both ways (euros & pounds).

LOL — being in a classroom these days must be a heady experience if all the boys are wearing Axe & all the girls are wearing whatever they wear — Curious? Pink Sugar?

Well you don't need to convince him until you try it, right? I think it isn't due for release until June. Before that, you can smell the original 2000 et une Rose at the Lancome Institut in Paris and nowhere else, as far as I know.

So I really need to convince him to take a trip to Paris in the next month or two? Hmmm…..you have sparked an idea, Robin. I have heard that April in Paris is a good month. (I would also settle for May or June in Paris).

LOL…I would take the trip to Paris anytime, even if it didn't include the Mille et une Rose ;-)
