More on new perfumes from Bond no. 9 & Le Labo

Posted by Robin on 23 March 2006 34 Comments

Bond no. 9 Scent of Peace fragranceMore details on Bond no. 9's next fragrance release, Scent of Peace:

The Scent of Peace, which was created by Michel Almairac of Robertet, features top notes of grapefruit and black currant, middle notes of lily of the valley and hedione and base notes of cedarwood.

Look for it in May. Later this year, look for new fragrances for Fire Island (June) and West Side Story (November). Other Bond no. 9 plans for this year include boutiques in Harlem and Chelsea; in 2007 expect a new color cosmetics line and fragrances for Astor Place, Sutton Place, Union Square, and Brooklyn. (via Women's Wear Daily)

And here are more details on the fragrances from the new boutique Le Labo:

Bergamote 22 for men is by perfumer Daphne Bugey, and features bergamot, petitgrain, grapefruit, amber, musk and vetiver.

Rose 31 for men is also by perfumer Daphne Bugey, and features Grasse rose, cumin, olibanum, cedar, amber, gaïac wood, cistus, and animalic notes.

Vetiver 46 for men is by Mark Buxton and has Haitian vetiver, pepper, gaïac, labdanum, cedar, and olibanum.

Neroli 36, a unisex fragrance by nose Daphne Bugey, has neroli, rose, musk, mandarin orange (slightly aldehydic), jasmine and vanilla.

Fleur D’Oranger 27 is a unisex fragrance by perfumer Françoise Caron, and features orange blossom, musk, bergamot, petit grain and lemon.

Patchouli 24 by Annick Menardo has patchouli, birch, and vanilla. Per Le Labo, "Even though it is vital to the olfactory shock this perfume generates, Patchouli is not easy to detect in this formula."

Jasmin 17 for women is by perfumer Maurice Roucel and has jasmine, musk, sandalwood and vanilla.

Iris 39 for women, by Frank Voelkl, features iris and patchouli on a musky base.

Ciste 18 for women is by Maurice Roucel, and is described as "a strong concentration of oriental notes, with animal intonations of civet and castoreum". Update: this fragrance has been renamed Labdanum 18.

Ambrette 9 is for babies, and is a light combination of ambrette grain, citrus and fruit.

Le Labo plans to launch a website shortly, and will have online ordering (and a sample program) by May.

M, they don't have samples yet but you can call them if you want to order unsniffed (number is in yesterday's article). According to WWD, the prices are: “15 ml. for $45, 50 ml. for $115, 100 ml. for $180” but I didn't verify that.

But you know you should never buy unsniffed 🙂

So…I decided to live dangerously and called them. A young man with a verrrry lovely French accent answered (there is nothing like French accent to make one want to buy a perfume even more LOL)…and I got 15ml of Ciste 18! He asked where I heard about them and I told him, on a perfume blog Now Smell This…

Thank you for enabling, R.! 🙂

No guts, no glory, or a fool and her money are soon parted or something, but they really do sound interesting enough that they need a sniff.

Joining the party…how come none of these really appeal to me, except maybe the Ciste? What's wrong with me? They just seem so, well, boring or uninteresting.

Or maybe it's because I have been disappointed by some of the new fragrances, like Abinoams and Mona di Orio and the new Keiko Mecheris. All a big disappointment…except Terre d'Hermes, which is beautiful!

    Hugs!

R, do comment more on the KMs, I haven't tried them yet! Otherwise, yes, other than Terre d'Hermes most of what I was looking forward to this year has been a disappointment. But I am very interested in several of the Le Labos: Fleur d'Oranger, Vetiver & Jasmin are all possibilities. We shall see!!

I haven't tried any of the Bond no. 9's yet! I keep debating on which one I'd like to try. Can anyone suggest one to me – I like the woodsy, incense scents the most.

Highly recommend Chinatown, it is easily the best thing they've done (even if I don't wear it personally).

Got my Ciste 18. Already! In the beginning smells just like…..

    …Musc Ravageur! 🙂

The description with all those animalic notes makes it sound “scarier” than it really is. It is wonderful though.

The bottles are personalised by the way. It said “compounded for (name)”.

Thanks Robin. I will try Chinatown. I'll find a decant on ebay.

On another subject, sort of. Creed. Why do I dislike everything I try from them?

Tried FM's Carnal Flower. Not really for me.

And – I just tried Inux's Latin Water. LOVE.

So sorry you didn't love Carnal Flower! I haven't bought it yet myself, although I won't be surprised if I end up with a bottle eventually. The Latin Water: I hear the IUNXs are all marked down now, but the store must be closing really soon. Get it while you can!

I'll have to get some Latin Water, for sure! Do you need to order from their website or are there other options?

Ok, I found a Creed I love. Fantasia de Fleurs. Lovely. Ever tried it? I just ordered a decant of Cuir De Russie, too, having heard such great things about it from one of Marlen's reviews.

Tried FM's Noir Epices today. This is the one that was recommended to me after I took their little test online. I really don't like it at all! The description sounded great, but it gives me an instant headache.

Carnal Flower is definitely pretty but turns ugly on me pretty fast.

G, I am fairly sure that the only place that does mailorder is senteursdailleurs.com in Brussels.

Don't love Fantasia de Fleurs, haven't tried Creed's Cuir de Russie. FM Noir Epices doesn't work on me either! Nicely done, though. Carnal Flower is another matter 😉

Colombina, Where did you go? I've been waiting to hear you report back on Ciste18. You don't see a Civet note too often. I wore something called simply 'Civet Oil' back many many years ago.

Ralph Lauren's – Blue, (although strangely no Civet notes are mentioned in it), smells nearly identical to the 'Civet Oil'.

Would like to hear how your sample turned out for you. Do you like it? What is it like?

Now, they have a sample programm.

I have just received my samples from Le Labo. It's 45 dollards for 3 samples but the bottles are huge and it's a good news and a good choice because I love Neroli, Jasmin and Iris.

I just got this Bond Peace last week and I liked it a lot. This is one of my favorite in the Bond no.9 collection and the Nuits de NOho. The nuits the noho is perfect for a night out in the city. Makes you feel sexy! =)

I gave it a brief smell on a test card and thought it was nice. The bottle is stunning — even nicer in person than in the picture.
