I’m on vacation with only one perfume, so I’m back to imaginary textile matching. If I was home, I’d be doing my favorite (or at least, most worn) fabric, denim, which obviously goes with nearly anything. I’ll dress up my jeans with an elegant no-brainer, Hermès Eau Claire des Merveilles…

It’s Friday and happy National Carrot Cake Day. RIP Paco Rabanne. Birthdays: Charles Henry Turner, Gertrude Stein, Alvar Aalto, Mabel Mercer, Simone Weil, Nathan Lane.

Our community project for today is Edition 8 of the Picture Challenge. Wear a perfume that matches the image, which is detail from Women of Shangri-La, 2002, by Yayoi Kusama.* (You can see the entire installation if you scroll down here; I cannot post it for copyright reasons).

According to Kusama, “Our earth is only one polka dot among a million stars in the cosmos. Polka dots are a way to infinity. When we obliterate nature and our bodies with polka dots, we become part of the unity of our environment.” The quote made me think right away of Comme des Garçons Ouarzazate, so that’s what I’m wearing…
