Friday scent of the day 8/14

Posted by Robin on 14 August 2026 10 Comments

Happy Friday and happy National Creamsicle Day!  Our community project for today: wear a creamsicle fragrance, if you have one. (And you can find lots of suggestions — including layering combos — in the comments to 5 perfumes: consider the creamsicle). This is a repeat from 2020.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

I completely failed...I tried a layering combination of DIY Sweet Orange Lotion, Hermès Elixir des Merveilles and Maya Njie Vanilj, which I thought might produce something like a creamsicle cookie, but nope, no creamsicle whatsoever.

Reminder: 8/21 will be Forgotten Friday...root around in your perfume cabinet or drawer or basket of samples or what have you, and find something you keep forgetting to wear or forgot you even owned.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I'll occasionally manage to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

    Hello and tgif!
My creamcicle combo is Parfums de Rosine Vanille Paradoxe + Clarins Eau Dynamisante. Orange creamcicle in a herb garden. Not as sweet as I wanted because ED is on the drier side but pretty nice!
I have been tracking these 2 packages I sent to my friend in Saudi Arabia. Post office said 7 days max, its been 10 and is still stuck in the early stages of transit. Ugh. I need them to reach her before her birthday!
Oh stolen bag final update! I emailed the vendor my police report and they have started investigation. I received a call yesterday that despite not yet finding out who or when the theft occured, they will refund me nonetheless! Yayyy!

Great news on your bag and boo-hiss on the packages. I hope that once they get out of the ‘early stages’ things will move faster. I like the idea of ‘orange creamsickle in an herb garden.” Gives the somewhat bland oreamsickle a little zing.

Robin, I think your combo works beautifully, what did it end up smelling like if not a creamsickle?
I’m in my beloved Theorema which I don’t think of as creamsickle at all as it’s not that sweet and not that creamy on my skin, more an orange chypre, but I’ll happily claim it for the CP since better minds have embraced it.

Note to LillyJo: no indentation on the bottom of my Armani Prive bottle/box. It’s smooth. Nowhere to put a coin and pry it open like a mollusk.

I went with one of the classic combination suggestions, and layered to Ateliers, namely Vanille Insensee and Orange Sanguine. It now occurs to me that I never actually had a Creamsicle; for one my parents didn’t believe in sweets.

    Hello! Happy Friday 🙂
I chose Bond #9 Little Italy. It’s a beautiful true orange (with a jasmine dry down, but that doesn’t add to the creamsicle concept). Made by the samesperfumer who helped compose Eau d’Hadrien-my desert island scent.

    Happy Friday NST!

Sotd – a fail I admit. I’ve layered Hermes Orange Verte w Balalada Cheirosa 62. Whenever I get a whiff of myself my nose wrinkles up. Not quite a scrubber, but the Hermes was my most orangey.

I’m grasping for a metaphor – it seems rather than marrying or even cohabitating, the two are bringing out the worst in each other. The Hermes smells much more masculine like a barbershop but in a bad way not a sexy guy kinda way rather than unisex and the Badalada is cloyingly sweet, like being a cotton candy shop on a hot, humid day and needing air. Gosh I think I’ve talked myself into scrubbing it off but maybe it will settle. I’ll give it another 30 min.

A beautiful fragrant day to all!

I’m layering HG Tryst with Outremer Vanille for the creamsicle effect. It’s not sweet enough to be a classic creamsicle but I can imagine it as a fancy flavor at a gourmet ice cream shop.

Mr. allo will be traveling a lot this next 2 weeks so I’m going to be rooting around the Perfume Fort and wearing a few indolic favorites for Forgotten/Forbbiden Friday😋

Forbidden Friday sounds like an awesome CP choice! Depending on the no go zone (such as work or when an SO is around) it can of course be on a non-Friday

I’m perfume free up at our cabin, but I did treat myself to the new Orange Cream Coldfoam Matcha Latte on the drive up! Lol, that’s a long title. Iced matcha latte with a topping of orange vanilla foam on top. It was actually quite tasty and the orange complimented the matcha. So that’s as close to a creamsicle I’ll get for the next week.
