Italian niche line Santa Maria Novella has launched Ambra and Incenso, two new fragrances in the brand's I Giardini Medicei collection.
Ambra ~ Amber oriental. "A fascinating olfactory story that forges a bond between the enigmatic East and the citrus fruits so beloved by the Medici family. A collaboration as irreplaceable as the raw ingredients of Ambra Eau de Parfum, which link the history of Florence to the most remote lands. // Ambra Eau de Parfum stems from the encounter between the liveliness of bergamot and the profound timber of amber and myrrh. The resinous and enveloping heart fades into the patchouli and sandalwood base: it amplifies the warmth and depth of the composition. This fragrance is the interpretation of a winter garden nestled within the Medici’s Florentine court."
Incenso ~ Spicy woody. "A fragrance that can summon the most intimate and evocative settings. Incenso Eau de Parfum guides us on a sensory journey through time and space, to discover an element that is resin, plant and precious substance all at once. An olfactory harmony of wood and spices, as subtle as it is intense. // In Incenso Eau de Parfum, the intensity of the cardamom and the pink pepper leads the way to a mysterious heart of incense and papyrus, which complete the composition alongside the vetiver base. This fragrance captures the essence of a winter garden transported into the Medici's Florentine court."
Santa Maria Novella Ambra and Incenso are available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Well, I have to walk past their London location en route to Piccadilly Vaults (potentially to buy vintage earrings, as I did last year – you can never have too many earrings!) when my friend & I get to London tomorrow – will pop in & see if I can have a sniff.
Oh, do let us know what you think. Both of these sound good to me. And I’m 100% with you on earrings!
Of course I will – fingers crossed they have them. Chuckled at your comment re earrings. The ones I bought last year were Georg Jensen art nouveau period in yellow gold – I have another pair of vintage Jensen but they are art deco – I had no idea he’d done work in the nouveau period. Also purchased a pair when I was in Dublin earlier this year – very blingy ‘chandelier’ style diamond earrings with three strands of drop each – they’re gorgeous, but not the sort of thing one wears to pop to the supermarket, but I have been known to wear them with jeans for a ‘winey’ evening with my best friend…!
I did manage to pop by the SMN shop – it’s tiny & there were quite a few people waiting to be attended to, so skipped it the first time & went on to Piccadilly Vaults where I noticed an absolutely gorgeous pair of vintage aquamarine, diamond & pale rose gold earrings, so put them on my ‘will have to think about it’ list. Popped back yesterday & again, many people in the SMN shops, but did manage to have a sniff of both – not especially taken by either I’m sorry to say, but wanted to let you know anyway! I did buy the earrings…
Congrats on your new earrings!! I’m sure they are lovely.
Good luck, hope they’re there!
SMN used to have an Ambra fragrance that perhaps was d/c. I have a sample somewhere. Will find it and report back but the modern formula may well be different.
They had several fragrances that are repeated in this series. I can only assume they are reformulated, but really I don’t know.
