It’s Hump Day and International Museum Day. (And don't forget: the splitmeet is coming up on Saturday.) Birthdays: Gertrude Käsebier, Frank Capra, Big Joe Turner, W. G. Sebald. What fragrance are you wearing?
It's another gorgeous spring day here, and my fringe tree is in full bloom. I'm in Ormonde Jayne Osmanthus (lovely but not as lovely as the smell of the fringe tree).
Reminder: on 5/20, for World Bee Day, wear a fragrance with a honey note or wear a fragrance inspired by wildflowers, or celebrate World Bee Day in some other way. (We did a honey project in 2017.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I haven’t been wearing scent because I’ve had a cold and been at home all week. Back at work I decided to wear something easy, which for me today means L’Eau Mixte, from my bedside table.
Glad you are feeling better.
Feel better ❤️🩹
Ugh, so sorry!
Sorry you are feeling bad. I hope you feel better soon.
Ugh, get well soon!
Just a licorice kind of day, and so I’m in Hermès Brin de Reglisse, probably my favourite of the Hermessences.
Yum, I do love that one.
Trying to attract 🐝 in Rose Prick
I’m sure it is working!
I’m going to wear that tomorrow!
It’s cool and rainy and I have a ton of household chores to do, so it’s a Shalimar day, an edt from the 80s. Hoping for motivation.
Good luck finding the get up & go!
Hello!
Sotd is TF Rose D’Amalfi. I wonder if it will layer well with JM’s Red Roses because the rose is not strong with this one. Hmm might try it later.
House twins
A windy rainstorm today, so good thing I’d done a fair amount of walking the last couple of days. Working on a sample of Invictus Victory, which has been surprisingly pleasant, considering my general anti-dude perfume stance.
OK, have never smelled Invictus Victory, but it’s about the last thing I’d expect an anti-dude perfume person to find at all pleasant!
Testing Noir Epices which is too masculine and barbershop for me personally. Another 99f day…reminds me of Bon Jovi’s, 99 in the Shade 🎵
Omg! 99F in May?! Where are you? 😳
NV Mojave desert..99 is just the beginning lol
Oh, well…That explains it!
Your weather might just make it out to the East Coast for the weekend. 🥵
I am wearing Bvlgari Splendida Magnolia Sensuel and drinking a cup of Honey Breakfast Tea.
I’ve often wondered about that scent. What do you think of it?
It is very pretty and easy to wear 😊
Back to grey skies and rain today, boo hiss! Yesterday was just lovely though, and if you happened to be lounging in the sun, it got very toasty very quick.
I wore a bit on AG Ninfeo Mio last night to bed but it’s gone now, but it was a delightful change from all the warmer scents I’ve been wearing. I’m having some mild fragrance ennui these past few days. Not sure what I’ll go with today and may just go with nothing at all. I think it must be the weather. We had a lot of walkies yesterday and a bit of swim time, so doggo is pooped out. My thighs are killing me from going up and down the ladder a million and one times. Today just may be a Day of Rest.
Well, last minute decision. It’s Fils de Dieu today. This always hits my sweet spot and is pretty much guaranteed to lift my spirits!
Hope the weather is better wherever you are. 😎
I think you deserve a day of rest, after all that work on the van. I hope tomorrow brings you some sun!
Thanks, the rain gets old after a few days. The ground here squishes like a sponge when you walk. Wishing I could direct to areas that are in severe drought or on fire, though…
I may have missed it but have you been able to sort out that leak? I hope so.
Just a leak around the vent/fan. Hoping I fixed it yesterday morning. I need to let it set up for 24-48 hours so I’m still sitting here with my fancy blue tarp over it. The next rain will be the moment of truth. Hope you’re having lovely weather there. ☀️
I am, wouldn’t mind some rain though, partly for myself, as I seem to be breathing pollen rather than air, but most of all for all the plants and trees, they are so thirsty!
Yes, see my response to tulipani above. I wish I could direct this rain to places that need it the most. And while people seem to be enjoying hot temps, I think it portends ominous things to come. 🥵
Oh, and keeping my fingers crossed the leak is fixed and you are now able to relax.
Floris Honey Oud for me today as I slowly pack all my perfumes
You smell beautiful 🙂 have a smooth move!
Good luck with the move!
The weather here is about the same as Deva’s — sunny and warm yesterday (so nice that I went out and wiped down the picnic table while deluding myself into believing that we might have dinner out there), and grey, cold and rainy today. I think I jinxed things with the cleaning, much as one does by washing one’s car. Oh well, that’s spring in the PNW. 😂 I’m in TF Noir Pour Femme for the moment, but will most likely switch to Knize Ten post-shower — that one has stolen my fickle perfumista heart … for now.
I tell my husband to sweep the deck to tempt the rain!
Still sunny and nice here. I am definitely enjoying it while it lasts!
After a spectacularly bad work day yesterday, today is a bit better. I was wearing MFK Petit Matin, but it’s gone by now. Maybe I’ll pull out something for the bees this evening.
I’m still dithering over which perfume to buy myself as a consolation prize for having mono, but I just can’t choose. Sometimes I think the dithering is half the fun.
Ugh, sorry about the work situation and mono! I’d say you definitely deserve to dither for as long as you like, then buy a bottle of whatever floats your boat! 👍🏼
Aw, sorry to hear that work sucked yesterday.
So glad it was better, and you smelled great this morning!
Helloooooooo NST. Had a wonderful time in NY despite some stomach ailment–not flu, not food poisoning, no COVID–which led me to cancel some planned fancy dining and now has me undergoing a zillion tests (arghhh!). In perfume news, it was a slow day. I purchased a bottle of Epine de Rose (Mizensir) that I might slightly regret. Loved it in the shop, but now it seems fleeting and a little thin. Inoffensive and pretty, I am spraying with abandon. Oh well. After wearing Dear Polly loads, cuz I had a sample in my purse, I realized I love it. So even though I am not much of a tea scent person, I purchased a bottle online when I got home. My other purchase was a 1 0z bottle of Amalia from Fueguia 1833, an over the top girly floral jasmine that makes me happy. I had planned on replacing my finished Mitsouko parfum, but apparently there isn’t a bottle to be had in all of the US–problems with the supply chain, or so said the clerk at Bergdorf’s. Also, I learned that due to new IFRA restrictions, L’Heure Bleue parfum will only be sold in Paris (again said the clerk, so you may have better info).
Ooh I love a girly floral jasmine!
Sorry you had to cancel some of your plans.
I’ll send you some! The bottle is being shipped, so it could be a week-ish.
Aww thanks!😊
Hope the ailment resolves promptly. Envious of your trip–haven’t been to NYC since 2019 and hope LGA isn’t such a nightmare the next time I go (by far the most convenient airport for my visits).
We flew into JFK because we spent a few days in Sag Harbor. Terminal 1 was busy and falling apart at the seams, but it got us to where we needed to be!
Ummm…maybe it was terminal 5, now that I think on it. . . 😎
Glad to hear you had a great time in NYC despite not being 100%. Hope that you get some answers as to what is going on.
Very good luck with the tests, Oakland!
And thank you for reporting your purchases…I enjoyed the vicarious shopping pleasure 🙂
Thanks for the perfume report, hope you feel better soon!
Wearing Isabey Prends-Moi. I was hoping for a chocolate-raspberry-rose-lipstick over the top valentine’s day kind of vibe, but this is rather tame. I don’t dislike it, but I need to adjust my expectations.
Tea today is F&M’s Jubilation and it is nice and strong.
“Adjusting Expectations.” It what’s so tiresome about adulting. 😏
Seriously. Great life skill, but so dull…
Oof. Wow, this hits close to home, Deva.
Tiresome, but very necessary it seems.
Your fragrance sounded like it would be fantastic! Sorry it was a bit of a disappointment.
To be fair to the perfume, it is not a disappointment. It is just more subtle than I had anticipated. Misnamed, perhaps, since Isabey translates Prends-Moi to “Take Me” and I assumed such a commanding name would mean a commanding frag.
I had the same thought about the name. That’s too bad.
Not quite CP-compliant in Tiger’s Nest from a decant from a kind NSTer. I do smell fabulous. I used TWO sprays, so I’m stinking up my office. (Don’t worry; it’s just me in here; these are personal offices, like in olden days.)
Thank you to everyone who made me feel like it wasn’t weird of me to get so attached to my house and my plants 🙂 You made me feel much better.
Glad you are stinking up your office, Koyel!
If you have some favorite plants, can you take a piece of them to transplant at your new place?
That’s a lovely idea, and worth a shot 🙂
Stink it up!
I’m still and forever will be attached to my old house. I miss my cat. It was really hers. She made so many beautiful memories and is laid there.
Gardens, I understand from this home. My parents took plants from their old homes and their parents and so on.
This is how I feel about my condo in Montréal – I miss my doggie Dot, who absolutely loved it there. It was her happy place and mine too because we had such good times there together.
Ahh yes, I have the same feeling. This house is the last house my cat Mischief will ever have lived in! My last apartment was the last home my cat Mayhem ever lived in! 🙁
Did you find some fun “olden days” furnishings in your new office? I’m remembering you moved into vintage building, right? Stink on, lady! 😀
None in my office, but I did see some computers from like the 80s in someone else’s office! They were incredible!
You smell wonderful!
Also want to mention … perhaps instead of a whole wall of painting, you can frame 4 “pictures” (parts of wallpaper maybe) to represent the seasons or some other theme and you can rearrange them to make a new view. I have seen hand-painted walls that could have used TLC when new.
That’s a nice idea 🙂 Might be worth looking into. Thanks!
You smell great!
I’m non-compliant in Shalimar edc today. Might need to spray a bit more since it’s so cold outside.
Beautiful !
Thank you, Barqs! This version is a recent find for me.
Scent twins!
We are! And probably weather twins as well. Very tired of this wintery cold. I actually cleaned out the junk drawer and swept out the crumbs. I think it was the Shalimar!
I will try to send you some more temperate weather! 🌈🌞🌞🌞
Thank you, Jalapeno! I’ll take any you can spare.
This has been such a cold rainy spring! Hoping we go straight to summer soon.
Seriously!
I’m having ginger & cardamom tea this morning. And inspired by the CP, I just added a touch of wildflower honey to it.
I’m wearing a sample of Erawan today. Hajusuuri’s post about Dusita’s discovery set offer has made me very tempted to splurge on a FB of Erawan….. It’s so hard to decide!
I haven’t looked yet but the 50mL bottles are included. I have no clue on the bottle pricing but perhaps it’s not too far off from being perfumath free. 😉 Besides, I’m sure Donatella would understand because after all, you HAVE to reward yourself for moving! All that packing, etc. etc.
I noticed that Dusita offers free shipping from Paris, but does not remove the VAT, so you are effectively paying for the shipping by paying VAT which is not owed on export shipments.
Oh interesting! Here I was thinking we’d save on sales tax. But is VAT already included in the price? I’ll have to investigate.
Yes, I checked Dusita’s price against First in Fragrance’s price, Dusita charges the VAT but FiF suppresses it so it’s cheaper (I place one large order a year with FiF to get free shipping).
Interesting! If VAT ends up being > $40, I will say sayonara to the deal. Thanks for the heads up!
Wearing Fève Délicieuse today. I probably tried this one years ago but couldn’t remember my thoughts and all the notes sounded wonderful so I ordered the 40 ml mostly blind as part of my Mother’s Day gifts to self. 😉
It’s beautiful. Warm and powdery w/ spicy tonka and smoky vanilla. What’s not to love, I would ask?😍
They still have 40 ml?
Yes, one of the newer ones that I have – Vanilla Diorama – is a 40mL bottle.
Sounds like enabling…
Yes, they have 40 ml bottles. 🙂
This is like a game of made you look!🤣
You smell yummy, love FD.
Hi friends! It’s been a while, but just wanted to let you all know that I’m alive and well. I’ve been through an excruciatingly difficult period of PTSD-induced insomnia and general fragility, but I’m doing much, much better at the moment. But, weirdly, one of the effects of all the things I’ve been feeling and dealing with has been a sort of distaste for perfume or strong scents in general — even just imagining spritzing on something from most of my collection feels like turning up a radio to a painful volume. The only scents I’ve been able to tolerate are ultra-light, ultra-simple things like Malibu Lemon Blossom and Beach; even citrus colognes feel like Too Much Fragrance. I’m very much hoping this particular state of affairs will pass, and I was actually thinking of wearing a tiny hint of Slowdive today, which would be very CP compliant!
I hope you’re all doing well!
Sorry to hear about your difficulties! I think the sensitivity will pass as you move toward balance. I wouldn’t push it, and there’s nothing wrong with gentle, quiet perfumes. When I’m feeling a bit fragile, I always go for soft scents. Or even no scents. Sometimes a nice roll on perfume oil or perfume solid really fits. Hope you continue to mend and are able to enjoy your collection to its full extent whenever you’re ready. ✌🏼
I’ve been thinking about you Isabella, and hoped you were doing well. Sorry to hear about your difficult PTSD, but glad that things are improving and glad to see you pop into the comments — perfumed or not.
Good to see you here, sorry about your insomnia, that can really be upsetting in all kinds of ways, hope you will get your perfume mojo back soon.
Isabella, sorry to hear what you’ve been going through, and glad things are looking better.
It’s so good to hear from you, Isabella. I wish you continued improvements in your wellness, and I’m sending you some hugs. I hope your clever and witty son is doing well too, I miss hearing your stories about him!
It’s very good to see you here Isabella. I’m sorry for your troubles.
I think that perfume can come and go during different times in our lives. I wish you the best!
Glad to see you post today, but sorry to hear that you’ve been working thru a major rough patch.
If it makes you feel any better, I’ve had some “perfume pauses” in the past as well. After a while I could get back to this scented hobby. Hugs, and good luck!
Isabella, so glad you are ok even if off perfume…I know you had a long period of insomnia, and hope that is worked out.
So glad to hear you are improving! Taking a perfume break sounds very appropriate, when I’m stressed I can’t take any extra stimulation. Sending you lots of hugs!
Glad to see you posting, Isabella!
So glad to see you and to hear that you’re doing better!
I’m wearing Songes today for doing laundry. I cleaned out my (home) desk yesterday and was amazed by all the old stuff in it–paper manuals (remember those?) for long-gone computers and appliances, business cards from places I don’t remember, and loads of little notes and to-do lists that somehow got stuck in there. Now there is a lot more room and I can find what I want!
Ha, I have a million of those manuals! And recently discovered a pile of Ikea assembly instruction booklets, what on earth did I save those for.
You smell great. I cleaned house today and threw away a paper phone book!
That’s impressive! (I mean, that you still had one.)
It was Paris Roses Enchantées today, a long gone Paris flanker and it was fittingly spring-like, those flankers were good, now it’s all Black Opium flankers at YSL, sigh. This evening it’s Angels’ Share because I have a tester bottle purchased last year for a great price, around £44 IIRC. It’s good, I get boozy tobacco from it but it’s not the right season for it.
They used to do such nice Paris flankers, agree! A new one every spring.
Imaginary Authors Saint Julep for me today. Green and minty! 🍃
Yep, you smell great Nancyleandros!
Cartier L’Envol which is interesting enough but fails to float my boat in a spectacular way. It’s one of these fragrances that I should love but don’t. Fortunately I don’t own a bottle just a large sample, like 10 ml. or so.
So…10 mls counts as a sample? I’m not so bad, Donatella.
Lot of shoulds here, too.
well I didn’t pay a penny for it. It was given to me when I bought something else (not Cartier): a nice box with three small bottles of Cartiers, I think La Panthère, Carat and L’Envol. I’m going to give it to someone who will enjoy it.
SOTD is Sweet William. I haven’t worn this in ages, and I’m wondering why, it’s lovely.
It will come to me later…is that an Ineke?
I’ll have to think about honey notes, I have Miel de Bois, but given the varied views of that one, best I don’t wear it to work. I’ve decided on a warmer incense with Armani Privé Encens Satin.
I don’t wear MdB out of the house! I have to think about it too.
Sotd is Volutes – fun to learn that it has a honey note.
Good catch – I think I’ve got a mini…
Can that comment: I was thinking of Volupte.
🙂
Aha, thank you!
Hi all. I got good news yesterday from my doctor: my leg is strong enough now that I can do without my walker and my brace, and can begin driving again. Wow! I truly wasn’t prepared for all this, thought I had a ways further to go. Naturally, after sitting for three months in the garage, my car wouldn’t start today. But a friend is going to come help me with it tomorrow. I will make a transition now from in-home therapy to outpatient therapy, and have gotten an appointment for next week with my previous therapist (she helped me after both hip an shoulder surgeries before). I’ll be glad to go back; as the doctor put it, they “have more modalities” to help me continue making progress with my leg. It still hurts like crazy, I’m sad to say.
My SOTD isn’t CP related: it’s Musc Ravageur. I found a sample and someone wore it recently, which inspired me. I’m going to have to look around and maybe do some research to figure out what to wear on Friday for the CP.
Glad you are back on the road, and I’ll be hoping for continued improvement! Regarding the CP, I was surprised how easy it was to find honey notes in my collection! I don’t consciously seek it out, but when I started teasing out notes in several favorites, there it was.
Great news about your leg! I hope that you continue making progress.
Good news about your leg! But sorry it is still hurting.☹️ Hope it feels better soon!
Great news on the leg, although sorry to hear you are still in so much pain.
Yay!!! That’s great.
It will stop hurting, right?
Song of the Day: https://youtu.be/UIE4UjBtx-o
Sigh. Why are things never easy anymore?
One of the baby birds either fell out of the nest, or was hiding behind it when it was removed yesterday afternoon from the dryer vent. Guess who woke me up at 6 this morning? And hadn’t stopped chirping since?
So I called the company back. Thankfully the guys were able to return this afternoon and get the last baby bird out. I asked to see this one. That little feathered face looked *SO* ticked off!
Wonderful, blessed peace and quiet has returned. Let’s hope it stays like that!
SOTD = back in No. 5 L’Eau EdT.
Aww, poor baby bird!
We are twins today!🙌
Hiya perfume twin!
It seems that baby birds usually have what people would call RBF!
I have this album on vinyl still. Such a classic.
Good thing the guys were able to come back today.
Not sure if my brother still has this on cassette or CD, or if he streams all his tunes now.
VERY glad those guys came back! That little bird made a LOT of noise. I could hear it everywhere on the entire second story.
Glad the baby bird was ok even though you had to suffer through the noise!
Really bright eyes on that angry little face! And no charge for today’s rescue.
Awww, glad the last one was freed!
The parents were feeding it thru the grate in the bird excluder. But I am happy that the baby is in a far better spot now.
So glad they came to get the poor thing.
I was told that there are other birds at the sanctuary/refuge it was taken to, so it won’t be alone.
SotD enjoying cozy wafts of Miel Sauvage, from Hajusuuri’s split. Fragrantica says the notes are “Honey, Bergamot and Red Pepper; middle notes are Sandalwood, Jasmine and Agarwood (Oud); base notes are Incense, Tonka Bean and Patchouli.” I clearly smell honey, then general woodiness, sweet floral incense and clean patchouli. It’s damp and rainy here; cool enough to have the windows open, and that seems to be helping my scent bubble. I dreaded an appointment today with a new family doctor. But we seemed to click, and I was relieved to get that over with. I did wear *several* sprays of Miel Sauvage to the appointment, but what with masks I don’t think it was noticeable. My mask did not hide the fragrance from a skunk who must have sprayed (or met his end) near the front door of the building. The parking lot was redolent, and little puffs of skunk followed people in as the wide automatic doors opened and closed!
Glad you clicked with the new doctor. 👍
Sometimes skunks spray during their mating season. Not making this up! 🦨
You smell wonderful! Bit boo hiss on the skunk puffs. I try to not think about the skunk smell by imagine smelling coffee.
Oof. What a long day. At least I smelled good in no. 5 L’eau.
Now, off to read comments!
Long day twins!
I’m fighting to not turn the heat back on for tonight. Cool and rainy here.
Thank goodness for perfume on days like these!
My new assistant store manager is 28 and my new immediate supervisor is 21. Lol. I’ve worked with them for a few years now. Nice girls.
Angel Muse for me today as it has turned to Fall overnight.
Weren’t you hot, humid and sweating just a couple of days ago?
Sure was! Yesterday was just right and they say tomorrow will be back to warm and sunny 🌞
I’m still waiting for spring! Hope your weather evens out.
Eventually I hope!
I’m glad you like them! And my Angel Muse bottle keeps getting fuller 🤣.
I’m telling you.. you have to turn it upside down! It’s probably almost empty that way!🤣
Busy day cleaning & spiffing the house, buying flowers, etc. Of course, we had high winds and a power outage, there is debris all over the yard and in my pond, which we just cleaned, sigh. Will clean everything again tomorrow morningbefore the picture guy gets here. Wearing MCG Leuco.
Ugh to the re-cleaning.
I often look at homes for sale that are similar to mine. ( because I am nosy) I am always amazed how clean the houses are! It’s a lot of work.
SOTD = MAC Velvet Teddy
CP points for the honey 🍯!(Every time I type honey, darn, it always starts as hiney…)

I was quite disappointed at the lack of service at The Zoo. I was excited to get Dangerous Curves. I placed the order in mid- March, and should have received the product in early April; however, the company indicated an issue with the labels and that the perfume will ship in two weeks (by the beginning of the last week of April) and the rest will mail in 2 more weeks so end of the first full week of May. I followed up mid last week, didn’t hear back and followed up on Friday. I heard back on Monday with a “we’re looking into it”. This morning, with no other news since the email on Monday, I followed up again and basically said if there is no update, I want a refund. Well, lo and behold, an email was sent saying it will be another 2 weeks. Guess what? I wrote back and said I’ve lost interest and I want a refund. I’ll check tomorrow to see if it hit my account. I provided 3 reasons why their customer service was atrocious and to let Christophe Laudamiel know I was severely disappointed. Ugh.
LOL on your “honey” typo! Or is Autocorrupt to blame for that?
Nah, I seem to always fat finger it.
That is really too bad.
I know, right?
