It's Almost-Friday, plus the International Day of Acceptance, National Cheese Lovers Day and Penguin Awareness Day. Birthdays: Lead Belly, Joy Adamson, Barbara Jordan, David Lynch. RIP Gaspard Ulliel. What fragrance are you wearing?
I tried but failed to find any Fahrenheit. I'm quite happy all the same in good old Dior Eau Sauvage.
Reminder: on 1/21, for Christian Dior's birthday, wear a Dior fragrance (this is a repeat from 2014).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is from the Dior Winter 2021-2022 campaign.
Scent twins! Can’t go wrong with Eau Sauvage, although I *am* going to be that curmudgeon and say it’s not as good as it used to be in the eighties, when I had my first bottle — and it’s more than possible that the eighties version wasn’t as good as it was in 1966. But we play the hand we’re dealt. Even recent Eau Sauvage is better than most of the stuff on the market.
I am so late that it’s probably mostly gone for both of us, but hey twin!
Go big or go home in Dior Poison,an early 90’s “vintage” bottle. One of the best tuberoses out there I think!
Happy Thursday!
My weekend starts NOW.
Xo’s
P.S,so sad about THAT Chanel guy,Gaspard who passed away!I always thought he was so handsome.??
Me too! A very long engagement is one of my favorite French films with him in it! He was so young! and so very handsome! NYC is filled with Chanel ads with him on it…
Oh my, you smell fantastic! I love me some Poison. I blasted myself earlier this week; the scent still seems to be lingering in the air.
It’s so wonderfully over the top, currently enjoying the late drydown at 18:43 pm our time…
Poison gets a lot of hate (because like so many other eighties things it was oversized and overused), but the eighties/nineties vintage is one of the all-time great scents. It’s amazing, and you smell terrific (as you know).
Thank you pyramus,I’m ready for some decadent 80’s perfume/music/wardrobe!!
Twins!
No way, that never happens!!But yay!!We smell wonderful from America tot Africa!!?????✌??
You inspired me!
I was undecided until I read your post?
Enjoy your weekend johanob! You are ready for it, I can tell. ?
I’d be so pleasantly shocked to smell Poison on somebody where I live!
Good morning.
Sotd is Miss Dior hair mist sprayed liberally.
Currently drinking matcha latte.
Oh my so sad about Gaspard…
Very sad!
I’m wearing Gris Montaigne, from a decant. This is a good one, but I think it is discontinued.
You smell wonderful. My favorite Dior.
I think it got renamed to Gris Dior.
It was renamed Gris Dior, can’t tell if d/c’d. Someone here might know.
It did get renamed and, I heard, reformulated. Why can’t they leave things alone. It was already perfect.
Penguin Awareness Day? Who is unaware of penguins? Some of these are so bizarre…
Wearing vintage Diorissimo, and I think my bottle is going off. It just doesn’t smell as LOTV-ish as I remember….
I wonder if it smells different because of the colder weather?
Good thought…I also wondered if maybe, since I hadn’t used it in a while, some small amount of juice was stuck up near the splash portion of the cap, and only a tiny bit went off, but that was the part that I got.
Seriously, most of the “awareness” days are just weird. And there is already a World Penguin Day.
Hello everyone! Wearing a wonderful green tweed skirt suit for a long boring day at work. Also wearing my very own vintage Dolce Vita from maybe… the late 90s? I have two half-used bottles, as well as a few empties. My mother really loved this one on me so bought me bottles regularly, including for my eighteenth birthday. Today is my brother’s birthday so I broke out the vintage. Allo asked about the current Dolce Vita yesterday… well, it’s different to this ancient brew of course, but the current perfume is very very good (compared to other current Diors) and has the old warmth and spicy sweetness without being heavy, thick, or cheap. Good wishes to you all for today.
Your suit sounds as beautiful as your scent.
Thank you ringthing! It definitely improved my working day to be so nicely dressed?
Thank you for your thoughts about the newer version(s) of Dolce Vita.
On a side note, this is all so timely because I hadn’t known that this is a Pierre Bourdon fragrance. Then recently Persolaise posted his interview with Gabe Oppenheim about his book The Ghost Perfumer which is about Bourdon’s history as a ghost perfumer for Creed. The story revolves around Olivier Creed’s use of some of Bourdon’s formulas without giving him credit or promised $$ compensation. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to reading the book.
That was a great interview, wasn’t it? So many juicy bits! You’ll have to let us know about the book when you read it.
Oh oh I hadn’t heard of this story (Persolaiae is wonderful but I’ve cut down my internet time in general so my other blog reading is very intermittent now) so thank you for the reference! About Bourdon: it was when I read Turin and Sanchez The Guide a few years ago that I found out how Dolce Vita had a connection to Serge Lutens via Bourdon. That made me try Feminite du Bois for the first time (which, 5 years ago, in its then-current form, smelled a lot like my vintage Dolce Vita). I’ve just checked my copy of the Guide and they hate the newer DV, but my newest bottle is from this year (only available in 100mls unfortunately) and I think it’s good (I can’t wear the current Dune, for example, which is another of my prized teen memories. Wow. My mother had excellent taste in her gift-giving!). Well worth a try if you can test it, I’d say!
That is so interesting re: Lutens, Bourdon, Turin and Sanchez and the connection between FdB and DV.
And I, too am impressed by your mother’s gift giving!
Well that makes sense, I love both Dolce Vita and FdB.
Nice to know that the current Dolce Vita perfume is worth sniffing!
Cheese lovers? Lead Belly? Sign me up! I’ve climbed aboard the Dior wagon today in Leather Oud — was in the mood for something both comforting and tough, and leather scents always fit this particular bill.
Also, Little Biscuit just came over and gave me a sniff, and I asked him what he’d name this perfume, and he thought for a moment and said, “Sour Fern.” 😀
?
Now that’s adorable ?
? The kid knows how to use his nose *and* vocabulary!
Omg! Thanks for the laugh! Too cute!?
That’s a great name for a scent!
It does sound like something Smell Bent might create!Haha!
So funny and cute ☺️
Haha – so cute!
Kids are painfully truthful. So cute! ?
He did make a swooning-with-pleasure face, so I don’t think he meant it in a bad way. 🙂 I can see what he means, too — there’s a sharpness in the opening, and something not entirely unlike the smell of a damp log on the forest floor with licorice ferns growing on it.
That sounds like a scent that a boy would really enjoy!
Gosh, he’s too too cute!!
Your budding “perfumister” is quite astute!
Hi NST! Wearing vintage Dune today. And note to Robin, I just received an email from Imaginary Authors that Fox in the Flowerbed is available in a body oil which shot to the top of my want list. Have a great day everyone.
I wore that from a sample the other day. It’s very pretty.
Twins! It’s improving my mood on a distinctly dreary day.
Aha, very interesting! Will check that out, thanks.
Hi!! I so wanted to share what I wore yesterday night but the news of Gaspard Ulliel’s passing made it feel inappropriate…
Today I am in Chinatown. Wafting my beautiful sweetness!!
Yesterday morning (to my dirty physical work) I enjoyed House of Sillage Cherry Garden.
Yesterday evening (after a good shower) I wore nothing but Shalini Jardin Nocturne (+PJs of course).
I could write a poem about Jardin Nocturne by Shalini if I was talented. It is the most intricate perfume I have ever smelled in my entire life. It is crafted like a fine jewelry piece (just the scent itself nevermind the gorgeous packaging). It really is like a delicate yet classy platinum ring with the highest quality diamonds. Many other fragrances even niche ones are more reminiscent of fun but fashion jewelry next to Jardin Nocturne. Definitely Jardin Nocturne and Swan Princess are my two most Holy Grail of perfumes.
I’ve never smelled it, or even heard of it, but you make it sound fantastic! You smell wonderful.
Thank You thank You!!
Finally found one of my Dior decants. I am wearing Addict which doesn’t seem as loud as I thought it would be. Hmmm…
I don’t find it loud either. I have seen some youtube reviews though where people say it’s overwhelming, but I also notice they tend to spray perfume as if it’s body spray.
I think I used three. I must have the refo’d version in my decant.
Smelling like a Fancy Lady in Grand Bal, even if I look like a slob in sweats and fuzzy slippers, lol. Why not.
Yesterday’s scent was Balade Sauvage (Dior does like the word ‘sauvage’ don’t they). And the day before was Spice Blend. I could keep going on Diors for a while.
I’m still chipping away at re-populating my newly organized office closet. Trying to make sure that what goes back in is stuff we really want to keep. The hard part comes soon, as I have to make DH go thru *his* things. There will be whining. “Awww, wife, do I have to????”
Hey, Fancy Lady! 🙂 Why not, indeed.
I have to ask – does your husband really call you “wife” in conversation? I find that so endearing. ❤️
Nah he just mutters and grumbles. It would be endearing, wouldn’t it?
Yes. ?
Is it endearing?
My sister frequently calls her husband “husband” instead of using his name, and I find it disconcerting. I don’t think I’d like to be called “wife”. But maybe the delivery matters…I cannot imagine my husband saying that in an endearing way 🙂
I think, as you said, that delivery matters. I imagined it being used in a mock-Shakespearean sort of way, and that it could come off as charming. But the key thing would be not to over-use it. Perhaps it’s the frequency with which your sister uses it….
My brain heard “there will be whining” in the voice of Javier Bardem. ?
Grand Bal is so gorgeous.
Sweats and slippers twins today!
Wearing Bois d’Argent today, and I keep thinking it’s VCA Bois d’Iris, as usual. I did finally do a side-by-side test and concluded that the VCA is woodsier to my nose, and I prefer it.
I am not feeling better today, but I am not feeling worse! Thanks for all the “no-Covid, please” finger-crossing yesterday!
Glad you are not feeling worse but hopefully you will be on the mend soon!
Thanks, lilyjo!
Not worse is a good thing!
Hoping that you go from “not worse” to getting better soon!
Commando at the mo, but think I will dig out the Dior Homme. I adored that when I first got it, and then it faded from memory – why is that? Will find out shortly. 🙂
I dunno, but Dior Homme is a very memorable fragrance!A favorite iris.
It’s gorgeous. ?
Neglecting a once beloved scent wouldn’t have anything to do with an ever expanding collection? Plus, many of us are fickle and our tastes change. ?
So true, on both counts!
Well, turns out I still adore Dior Homme — quel surprise. I now have a plan to rejigger my perfume shelf(ves) to make more room for neglected beauties. Pajamas, you’re just going to have to go elsewhere!
Oh, good call! Maybe I’ll steal some from my husband tomorrow.
Snelling feb in Silky Woods.
Brutal.
?
own it, Petunia!
I don’t wanna. ?
Johonob talked me into wearing vintage Poison today. My bottle is from 1992 and was gifted to me by the lovely Laura who hasn’t posted here in quite a while. I am so thankful to have it and hope she is well.
The vacation clean out started this morning. I am starting in the kitchen. So far I have completed 2 drawers and 1 basket. It’s mostly old paper stuff. I found an old address book that hadn’t been updated since 1998.
And we smell wonderful!!
Good luck with your clean out!
My perfume wardrobe mission is also continuing in 5…4…3….?✌??
It feels so good to clean stuff out! Most of my side of the master closet is done and hope to finish it off in a day or so.
It’s so hard for me to get rid of somethings like cards or kid’s artwork. Pieces of paper that my mom had scribbled something on. I’m being as ruthless as possible though. The worst part is the basement which I do a little each year.
My Dad kept some homemade cards I’d done as a kid for the rest of his life. I cried seeing them in a box of his personal effects last year.
It feels so good to accomplish these tasks.
Yay for wearing a perfume you love, and getting stuff done!
Happy Birthday Lead Belly! What a huge influence he was to musicians of every genre. One of my favorite songs is the cover of In The Pines by Mark Lanegan. His voice is perfect for this song- all whiskey, cigarettes, and the rending of the human heart. If interested:
https://youtu.be/SgPB5fvMR_E
SOTD is Papillon Salomé.
Ooh, you smell wonderful!
another of my favorites, one day i will buy a bottle of this. You. smell great!

Unrelated, but I thought you’d get a kick from this story. I can just picture it.
Wearing vintage Dioressence today — I love it so much. Saving my vintage Miss Dior EDT for tomorrow, in honor of the sister Christian Dior loved so much. I need to get the recent book about her (and apparently just as much about the era) by Justine Picardie. Catherine Dior was an actual heroine of the French Resistance; she was captured and tortured by the Nazis, survived a concentration camp, and returned home to Paris to become a florist. She was the youngest of the Dior siblings.
This story sounds incredible!I’ll have to look out for the book as well!
Ah, I have this! Early Christmas present from Mr Dolce. Haven’t read it yet but it does look really good, and the author is a proper fashion journalist and editor as well as a really good writer and biographer in general so I have very high hopes. It won’t be a cheerful read though.
Apparently it’s not cheerful, but very compelling.
Wow, now I am interested in that book too. Catherine Dior sounds like an inspiring person.
Thanks for the book recommendation, that sounds so interesting!
Hi, all. I’m wearing Nez Ambre a Levres today since I mentioned it yesterday in the Daily Lemming chat. And speaking of lemmings, all my current lemmings are for vintage stuff – including lots of Dior: Miss Dior, Diorella, Diorama and Dioressence. I still hope to come upon these at a garage sale some day…
I found vintage Diorissimo at a random estate sale I was in two minds about, but finally went that day.I may have bought a Tiffany lamp for PEANUTS that same day….??
Good thing you went – totally worthwhile!
That was quite the sale if you found those goodies there!
You smell wonderful! And I share your vintage Dior lemmings.
Struggling with some January blues, but I’m smelling great in Dries Van Noten par FM. It feels like a warm blanket on this cold day. Such a shame that it’s been discontinued.
Sorry for your blues and hope you feel better soon. Sending some sun you way?
Thank you, lillyjo, I do need some ☀️
Hope you feel better soon! I know those winter blues are going to hit me sooner than later. You smell fantastic!
Thank you ?
January is the worst! Except February is even worser!!
Respectfully begging to differ. March is the worst for me! At least February is a short month…
They all stink IMO.
I can cut January some slack, since it is my birth month.
I can’t disagree with you on that…
I get the winter blues too; I really should use my light box. But at least we’re over halfway through January now. Spring will come again, eventually!
Looking forward to it! ?
In Dior Hypnotic Poison.
Very annoyed about one of my cousins, her husband and their 10 year old daughter who live overseas and arrive in New York yesterday. After almost 15 years of not seeing them, they knocked at our door around 9pm last night and yelled: SURPRISE!!! As much as we love them, we do not really welcome those serious unexpected visits. My mother just had an incident in the bathroom and I was helping her. I worked late and had just come back home and was very exhausted. Mom and I were both shocked, uncomfortable and my mother was pretty anxious after they left an hour later. I told them that it was better to have dinner together at home tonight. Now, they called few minutes ago to let me know that they had just taken a PCR test to make sure they were not putting my mother at risk with their visit tonight (how about me?), even though they took a rapid test yesterday before showing up. If they were having doubts about their Covid status, why they did not wait until getting the results of the PCR before coming home last night? The whole situation is very stressful and after so many years my mother still wants to share with them for a couple of hours. I asked my younger sister to call them and organize dinner in her apartment for whenever they were ready because the whole thing was very abnormal and was already making me very upset. I cannot deal with that nonsense. I do not know what’s on people minds these days anymore.
Sorry about the rant but I needed to let it out. I just hope my mood improves with my third cup of coffee and a slice of chocolate cake brought by one of my coworkers.
Happy almost Friday, everyone!
Sounds like a picnic with outdoor heaters in called for–but not so comfortable that the situation needs to be repeated. That is totally crazy behavior in the middle of a pandemic. Surprise indeed! Tsk tsk tsk.
Geeze loise how inconsiderate!
Even if you take covid out of the situation, showing up unannounced is not appropriate.
I am sorry for the stress. Thank goodness for chocolate cake!
I feel for you having to deal with all that on top of work and caring for your mum.
No, no, no — that is simply wrong. Even my closest friends know that they cannot just show up on my doorstep, uninvited, and without warning.
So sorry that you’re in this stressful situation.
Wow, just wow, PL67! I’m so sorry this happened to you. It feels 100% wrong in this day and age, there’s no excuse for it. No amount of joyous surprise can compensate for the stress and inappropriateness, yikes!
I think you need to eat the whole cake! And take many deep breaths.
This is just wrong,I’m sorry you were put in that position!!
Sending hugs!
I hope everything works out well and that you have no further cause for alarm or stress, these week or any other one.
How completely inconsiderate, to put it mildly. Please be safe tonight. Could you cancel and see them after the other test results are negative?
Good grief. Even if we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic, that would be rude. ?
I am so sorry you had to go through this stressful and unpleasant situation ? I would definitely be very upset and annoyed if someone did this to me.
Hope the coffee and chocolate helped!
WTF!?! Who does that? Especially during a pandemic?
Exactly. I would not like that ever but during a pandemic, that’s just beyond.
Wow. Those people are stupid and self-centered in their behavior. Showing up unannounced is NEVER right! Even more so now.
I’m sorry you and your Mom were put in that selfish and irresponsible situation. That is so very wrong on many levels.
OMG. How inconsiderate! COVID or no COVID, I will tell them that it is not a good time and to leave their number and you will call them. I would not have let them into the house.
I wouldn’t have even opened the door. 9pm, unannounced? During a pandemic? No, no, no. I am so sorry you had to deal with that rudeness.
Oh wow, that would have stressed me out too! I’m shocked that some people are still acting like everything is normal and we’re not in a pandemic. Plus, showing up at 9pm unannounced takes a lot of nerve.
Azurée to continue my chypre week. The head notes remind me a bit of some fizzy sweets powder, that we loved as kids. it was called Ahoi Brause….
Must dive into my sample box, maybe there is one forgotten Dior in there for tomorrow.
I had never heard of that…for anyone else who is curious:
https://candypros.com/blogs/candy-pros/brause-pulver-fizzy-fun
Azureé is wonderful!
You smell like summer in the High Desert of the US Southwest.
The sun is valiantly piercing through the clouds. I can tell things will warm up in the next couple of hours. https://www.instagram.com/p/CY9d4GgPeZZ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
But still craving ambers, so today I’m in Ambre 114 🙂
I like ambers! A lot.
Have a happy day
Wearing Remember Me, a hyacinth forward Dior from around 19999/ 2000? I bought this when I was living in Bavaria ( I liked the packaging and the colour of the bottle) and sent it to my mother back in NZ as she had worn Diorissimo, Dior Dior, Diorella etc. After she died ( two years ago, today) I found the bottle in her drawer, pretty much unused as she had grown into Comme des Garçons and wearing my dad’s perfumes after he died ( Eau de Sauvage, Crabtree and Evelyn Sandalwood, Ted Lapidus). So, from remembering me to remembering her. Cold and dreary , around 8C and darker in the mornings now.
So nice to have a story to go with the perfume. Hope it’s warm and cozy indoors.
I hope this brings you comfort today.
A mother’s perfume is a gentle, cozy way to be with your parents after they’ve passed. ❤
It’s so touching to hear that your mother wore your father’s fragrances after he died and that scent has brought you closer to your mother today.
Thinking of you Kanuka ❤⚘?
Aw. What a lovely and touching perfume story.
Ach, I am sorry about your mum. I’m with allo–I love the idea of your mum wearing your dad’s fragrances. Hopefully tomorrow will be less dreary.
Hugs in memory of your mum.
Sotd is Eau Sauvage Parfum from 2012. I got it a few years ago when I was comparing different versions of Eau Sauvage and I’m glad I had a reason to revisit it because I’m liking it more now.
Nice! I cannot remember if I tried it or not.
I think I might have smelled that version and liked it a lot!
Friday here and a day off on Monday for the provincial holiday (dating from back when we had provinces). I wore my Dior yesterday, but I have a sample of Tobacolor that I’ll test tonight. Meanwhile, going with a favourite today, Thierry Mugler’s Chyprissime.
Yay, enjoy your 3 day weekend Gaynor!
Continuing with OJ this week, and in Ta’if, which is helping me get through a long meeting. I’ll see if I can dig out a Dior from the old samples tomorrow. The sun has come out, if only briefly, so I’m going to go get a walk in now that the meeting is over, before I get into the rest of my day. Happy Thursday / Friday, all!
Ta’if is my favourite OJ, and one of favourite perfumes, you smell beautiful!
Joining PriscillaE in Gris Montaigne/Gris Dior. My mini is Gris Dior and I’ve never sniffed the earlier version.
I’m drinking a cardamom tea that really doesn’t go with the perfume! Oh well!
Oh, what brand of cardamom tea?
It’s a giant box of loose leaf tea I picked up at the Middle Eastern market and always assumed it was Middle Eastern. But I took a closer look recently and realized it’s from England! It’s Ahmad Tea, London.
Thanks Tulipani!
I gassed myself out a little this morning with vintage Poison, but it’s settled down now. According to my research, it appears I have a bottle from the original release year, 1985! I feel very fortunate to have received this in either a swap or freebie meet a few years ago.
What a treasure!
Wow, score!
NICE!
SOTD; Heure Equise, Annick Goutal; needed some comfort today, and this one ticks all the boxes.
I’m having a stressful time dealing with my Dad’s probate and difficult family dynamics, so I have treated myself to a discounted bottle of Mimosa & Cardomom from eBay, another cosy comforting scent, I’m so looking forward to its arrival!
So sorry, mayfly. Purchase as much as you like.
I’m not sure about your family dynamic, but most families out there have difficulty with members they never expected. Or maybe had a glimpse, but would never believe the hurt that could be inflicted.
Big hugs.
Thanks so much Annieperfume so nice to remember that I’m not alone with challenging family dynamics
So sorry for the difficulties you’re going through, I know how painful those family issues can be. I hope the scent brought you some comfort!
Thank you NinaV- perfume really helps me find comfort.
Thank goodness for fragrant treats to get through difficult times!
Yes, definitely!
Yuck. Dealing with probate sucks so very much. A couple of my friends are still doing that, even though the family member passed away in 2019.
Hugs to you.
This be me. I hope I did not miss a deadline.
Uh oh!
Thanks Jalapeño, those hugs are so comforting!
Blech. Hope it gets better.
Thanks very much Robin
So sorry you’re going through unpleasant family dynamics with the probate.
Thanks Hajusuuri, so nice to read all of this support
You smell wonderful, mayfly. I hope everything works itself out soon!
Thank you!
I am dreading this, as I will be the executor for my parents’ estate. Wishing you better days ahead.
Thanks so much Cazaubon.
I was in the vanilla mood this morning, so I’m in Geisha Noire over a layer of Lavanila Vanilla body butter.
I wore Dioressence EdT yesterday from a mini splash bottle. It had the houndstooth label on it. Gently spicy with some cinnamon and something deep lurking quietly in the base. I have no idea if it’s real or fake, but I did enjoy it. ?
I loved those houndstooth bottles! I can still remember how happy I was to have Diorissimo on my dresser in that spiffy bottle, right next to the pretty green bottle of Coriandre.
I am trying to make a dent in the sample sea, so today I am wearing Kerosene Sacred Memory. After dithering for months, I bought a new mattress and it was delivered very, very early this morning. In a box. I managed to drag it into the bedroom, heaved it on the foundation, opened both ends, and used my head to push it out of the box. All three kitties “helped” the process until I banished them to the hall. It has a 20 year warranty so I won’t have to do this again until I’m 86, thank goodness. It will probably take me that long to recover from the experience :-).
Kitties are so helpful with bedding in general! A previous cat was always incredibly “helpful” when it came time to put on a fitted sheet. Hope the new mattress is a success!
Yay for new mattress! I am still loving the one I got last year (also came in a box, and boy was that thing heavy) and hope you will love yours!
Decided to try on 1) Bois d’Argent, 2) Bois d’Iris and 3) Orchidee Vanille. I like all three, find all three somewhat similar, and have decided that 1 and 3 are the closest. Altogether there’s around 150 ml of pleasantness on top of my dresser.
😀 ♥
Another swing and a miss for winter weather here. It turned out to be all rain, with a few sad bursts of tiny snow flakes every so often. But the cold is coming back with a vengeance tonight! Supposed to get down into the teens (degrees F). Hopefully there won’t be much in the way of water main breaks in the area.
SOTD = Agent Provocateur EdP. from my bottle. The falling temps called for a rose perfume today. ???
We are getting down to real air temp of 0 tonight. You reminded me to open my cupboard door of my sink.
Yeek. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to worry about that. Most of the water mains that break here are over in Philly.
I hope that yesterday’s Song of the Day didn’t bother you.
Vacation?
I loved it! I only ever hear ” Our lips are sealed” anymore and had completely forgotten about some of their other hits. My memory isn’t what it used to be.
Yeah, I have that same “Only one song every gets played” thing happen with other groups from the 1980’s. Gets really annoying fast.
That video for “Vacation” is such a fun one!
*SIGH* Another day, another typo. Should be …” ever gets played”!
We got the dreaded mix here and it was also colder than I thought. No walking today as it still looked wet out there this afternoon.
I didn’t encounter any slick spots when I took recyclables out this afternoon. But that wind just knifed thru my clothes! Not pleasant at all.
I’d rather have rain than freezing rain! I hope the bad weather misses you again.
Wearing a mystery sample today. I get red berries and a pillowy musk. It is one thing to read the description of a perfume and try to tease out the reported notes. I’m content with my progress on that. But sniffing blind and trying to identify notes is a whole other thing. I’m much better doing that with flavors than with scents.
Drinking a new-to-me tea today: Miro’s Columbia Cacao, a black tea with cacao. It’s tasty, but has a much milder chocolate flavor than my holy grail Clipper Ship Chocolate Puer. I’m not sure why I feel the need to keep trying other chocolate teas, but then I’m also not sure why I feel the need to try 8 million perfumes that smell like the forest… 🙂
Mystery samples make me crazy. Especially if I really like it.
I love chocolate tea too, but dislike so many of them that I finally just bought some cacao husks to make my own. (Not saying I will never buy another, because I probably will. But if you buy some plain husks you can doctor the ones you buy!)
That’s a good idea! I started doing that with coconut after I an extra bag post-holiday baking last year.
I will confess tho, that my chcolate puer tea has teeny tiny chocolate chips mixed in. It’s not anywhere in the realm of hot chocolate, but they definitely add flavor and creaminess. I don’t think I could bring myself to add my own choc. chips to tea, but if they are *already* mixed in with the tea leaves, I’m OK with it. 🙂
Oh, that is decadent! I do not want any calories in my tea so I will stick with my husks.
I have a chocolate tea that I enjoy quite a bit, but since it is a black tea, I don’t brew it very often. Maybe if it was an oolong tea I could drink more of it.
SOTD = Dior Tobacolor
So good! I have a decant.

And for those interested in my popcorn popper:
https://www.instagram.com/hajusuuri/p/CY-MPbBuy8c/?utm_medium=copy_link
In my continuing quest for slowly but surely cleaning up, I had one extra bag of trash yesterday and I now also have a decent batch of stuff to donate. Onward! I have my target sections for the next few days.
Onwards and upwards! “Decluttering at the Speed of Life” was terrific, although as a result only cleared out my scarf collection so far.
Too funny. Kind of like me trying to MarieKondo after reading a few chapters.
Whoa! You are a “Cleaning Machine” right now!
I’m like a roomba at < quarter speed ?
Beats being a roomba @ stopped! ?
BTW, thanks for posting a pic of your popcorn gadget! I am intrigued…
I had no idea you could make regular popcorn in the microwave! Cute pot!
Hi everyone! I own only two Diors, and I’m saving Diorissimo for tomorrow so that I’ll match many of you all :). So today I’m wearing Dior Eau Svelte. I think I bought this in the early 2000s. It still smells nice, in a citrusy body spray kind of way.
Now I’ll read all the comments!
Oh I loved Svelte!
Let me know if you’d like some, I have a big bottle of it! I’m at skcossocks in the gmail.
I just ordered two samples from Shalini’s official stockist (as Shalini website does not offer samples) and they are Paradis Provence (You guessed it – with lavender) and Fleur Japonais because I am a cherry-blossomoholic. Yay!!
I hope you like the samples. I don’t know this brand.
Late to the party, but I had a very good day in Dior Rouge Trafalgar.
It’s still a party!
The party’s just getting started for those of us on the west coast!
And you smell great!
