It's Monday and National Bittersweet Chocolate Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
Foody Friday in January is the sort of community project I can do all week. I'm starting off relatively low-cal and with perhaps only partial points, with the whisper of spiced biscuit in Dries Van Noten par Frédéric Malle.
Reminder: 1/14 will be Foody Friday...wear a gourmand or foody fragrance. (This is a repeat from 2015)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Got a parcel this morning that had a few free commercial samples in it, so I decided to try Black Opium, which is… really not my thing. Standard-issue fruity floral, pretty well indistinguishable from a hundred others. I mean, it’s fine, it’s inoffensive, I wouldn’t mind smelling it on a co-worker, but it’s a placeholder — a scent to wear when you want to wear a scent, rather than smell like anything particularly interesting or distinctive. It’s sprayable meh. It’s whatever in liquid form.
Pyramus I have a sample of Black Opium that I have not worn yet so I’m glad I know what to kinda expect when I do use it. Sounds like it just didn’t float your boat.
Some people really like it! Mostly I think those are people who have never smelled a wide range of scents — is it after all aimed at the young — but if you’ve been around the block, you have definitely smelled a lot of things very much like this. Maybe I’m just jaded, but I can’t work up any enthusiasm for things that all smell like they came out of the same vat.
I just taught my elderly mother what “meh” means and as she loves perfume, we’ll have a good laugh over “sprayable meh.”
I tried my sample of Black Opium once, and my tween son walked into the room and said “it smells like Sephora in here”. Sprayable meh indeed!
LOL! I guess smelling like Sephora is better than smelling like fresh laundry??
Yesterday I wore Desvelos, a unisex that kinda skewed masculine. It was nice, I liked it. Today I am going to wear Don’t Be Shy, from By Killian (I think that’s the name of it? it has like, three different names on the sample?). Another sample I have that was full and has since evaporated somewhat, although I have held onto this one for a long time, so I’m kinda not surprised.
Has anyone seen the new portraits of Kate Middleton that were done for her 40th? They were stunning, and showed just how much she has matured into her role over the years.
Robin, to answer your question from yesterday, Classica Donna is made by Acqua Dell Elba. 🙂
Can the duchess be any more beautiful ?
I know, right? Those portraits were just gorgeous.
she is a beauty.
Thank you!
Ciao amici
Its been a little bit of time since I have posted. Our Christmas present from Santa this year to our whole family was covid and I am just starting to get back into wearing perfume. I have so many foodie fragrances but I am going to start slow and just wear Chanel Jersey today and then pick up with the gourmands later this week. Stay healthy and well.
Oh gosh, SmellGood, I’m sorry to hear that. Covid had picked a wonderful time of year to spike, as if people don’t get stressed out enough over the holidays. I hope it wasn’t a too harrowing an ordeal for you and yours.
Well, bah, humbug, LTSG. I hope you are all fully well again soon if not already.
That’s worse than getting coal and wood in your stockings! I hope you are all recovering as quickly as possible.
Oh dear, I’m so sorry. Boy do I know a lot of sick people right now.
Is everyone better or are you still recovering?
The kids were sick for a total of 1 day, the rest of us are mostly recovered. My energy is not wear it usually is. I feel winded very fast
1 day! Oh to be young.
Hope you are 100% soon, that’s really tough.
Hope you all are fully recovered soon!
We are all recovered ! Thank goodness
Glad to hear it!
And here I thought maybe you were on a lovely vacation or something, yuck! So glad you are all feeling better.
I wish!!
Glad to hear you are all feeling better. You smell lovely today.
I’m so glad you’re better now, and it’s great to have you back! It’s been a rough start to the new year for many!
Well, your are in very good company. I am glad you are feeling better!
I had noticed your absence, and am sorry to learn the reason why. Glad you’re on the mend.
Glad you are back and everyone is recovered. Happy you are wearing perfume…big hugs to you and your family.
How unlucky, so glad you’re better and that the kids pretty much sailed through it. Well, you will always remember that Xmas/New Year.
So sorry to hear this, but may it be the worst part of your whole year over already!
Oh, no! I hope you’re all naked on the road to healthy.
Same thing g happened to one of my nephews – he, his wife, and both toddlers all got it at the same time. All are ok now, though.
Lovestosmellgood, best wishes for no lasting effects!
? Spellcheck strikes again!
Of course, I meant back and not naked. ?
Made me laugh though!
That really stinks, getting COVID for Xmas. I hope that your family is feeling better now. ??
I’m in Anime Sante, by Maria Candida Gentile, from a sample. This is quite foody, skewing sweet, with (according to Fragrantica) almond and melon.
Not my favorite combo, but hope you are enjoying it!
I am sneezing and my eyes were all goopy getting up this morning.
A sign of who knows?
already working will jump in shower in a bit.
SOTD will will Dirty Hinoki another last minute end of year buy.
I cannot get all the glass out of garbage disposal will have to call plumber, grrrrrr.
Argh. Good luck on the sneezing and goopy eyes, and good luck with the plumber.
Did you try a shopvac, if you have one?
And gosh, I’m sure you tried everything so don’t know why I’m making useless suggestions.
No points for me today–wearing OJ Woman and stinking up the office. (In a good way, of course. )
You definitely get points with that beautiful cardamom opening!
The cardamom doesn’t come through on my skin at all. It’s all pine/hemlock.
Accidentally CP compliant today with Iris Malikhan, which to me is a sugared vanilla iris. And also compliant for bittersweet chocolate day via a sublime petite chocolate mousse tart that is also vegan.
Thanks for the reminder about Burren Perfumery — looks like it would require renting a car, which makes us skittish, but we’ll see. We may be able to team up with our downstairs neighbors to hire a private driver for a day.
Meanwhile, I discovered the posh department store (Brown Thomas) on Galway’s high street. It has a fairly large perfume department, including. Jo Malone counter, though I’ve never found a JM that works for me. Still, if we are allowed to test, it will be fun to try things since there is NO perfume counter within an hour’s drive of my home in the U.S.
Brown Thomas carries Cloonkeen, I believe (or maybe only the Dublin one?). The scents that Burren has were not the most amazing to me, but the location and the cafe and everything else is! And if you’re in Galway, the Burren is sort of a must, no? 🙂
No SOTD for me yet. Will have to consider whether I go with the CP or the new bottles I picked up over Christmas.
Right now I’m just enjoying the precious moments of quiet after the rest of the family leaves. Haven’t had those for three weeks…a week longer than expected, thanks to COVID measures. I sent them all off with N95s today; here’s hoping that will help, but who knows.
Supposedly the cabinetmaker is coming in sometime this week to finally finish the reno (after eight months). Allegedly the last pieces are now in stock. But I’m not holding my breath.
Christmas bottles! Christmas bottles! 😀 And yes, the quiet after house guests is so satisfying because showing hospitality gives such a good feeling and so does the end of a state of vigilance.
In the end, I went with the CP, since AS Sunday just seemed like a good idea today. 🙂
Enjoy that quiet, ockeghem!
Starting the day in Chanel Sycomore, from an adorable mini. No idea which formulation this is — has anyone here compared the original Exclusifs version with the newer EDP? And are they noticeably different? I think this might have to be the next FB to join my collection.
House twins
I’m in Diptyque Kiomanthe for a super-cold Monday!
On a whim (though we picked the color months ago), we decided to paint our bedroom yesterday…and now neither my husband nor I likes it! Repainting after work today and tomorrow…
Oh no! I hope you get exactly what you want with the repainting.
Oh, so sorry. Yeah, I’ve done that. Once, it was even the entire exterior! I think I repainted the following year. Thank goodness it only took one coat.
It does help to know that I’m not alone!
You’re definitely not alone. It has taken me a number of paint jobs to realize that my love of strong colours does not translate to entire walls. 🙂
Oh drat! I tend to put swatches on the wall and live with them for months. OK, sometimes years, to my husbands dismay (our hall looked like a patchwork quilt by the time I picked a color).
Even then, I’ve made mistakes!
Unintentionally CP compliant in Atelier Cafe Tuberosa. I had a coffee date this morning with a friend so that is what made me think of it. Gosh, it is swell. But I’m still grabbing a chypre when heading for the desert island. Since it was 18F and dry as dust I over-sprayed and with all the scones and quiches and lattes around us I don’t think anyone noticed.
It is a nice one, but i am joining you with the chypres.
2nd!
Unintentionally CP compliant twins!
I can easily cruise through the week being CP compliant but I forgot today so I’m wearing Wazamba. I don’t know how it happens but the incense is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We are having a lot of lake effect snow today and it’s so pretty! Glad I’m not driving in it, though.
I think Timbuktu does something similar.
Enjoy the pretty snow!
Well, I’ve got to go with Akro Dark, from the recent splitmeet. Definitely CP compliant. It’s Monday, and I am a little sad that I have to start gearing up for the start of the semester next week. This week, multiple “pre-semester” meetings, which is just another way for admin to make sure everybody has their nose to the grindstone at the earliest opportunity. Am I ready for retirement? I think you know the answer…..
Sorry about the meetings, Lisa D! How long til retirement?
I’m planning to retire at the end of December, and it can’t come soon enough! I’m going to be SO GOOD at it, I can already tell.
Oh wow, that’s close enough to feel “in sight”! Good for you.
Dropped off a return to the UPS store. Not going to let Amazon charge me twice for a $10 item. Bitterly cold and I am in Tobacco Vanille. Feeling icky from yesterday’s booster.
Sorry for the icky – I had that too with my booster. It was the worst of the three shots. I felt better after an ibuprofen and a nap, for what that’s worth.
Well you’re doing better than I did Dawn, I was flat on my back for 24 hours!
Yay for getting your booster!
Sprayed the whole sample of MMM Beach Walk in an attempt to bring a bit of summer into my life on this brutal, freezing day where the temps are feeling in the teens. Well, I should enjoy this warm, balmy day before we drop to the single digits later tonight and into Wednesday. As my mother said this morning, no reasons to complain and just be thankful that we are still in good health.
Having my third cup of coffee with a slice of chocolate cheesecake.
Happy Monday, everyone! ?
Oh yum, cheesecake! That sounds so good.
It is! ?
Chocolate cheesecake & coffee would make any day a good day!
Agree! I was tempted to have a second slice, but I am glad I am so busy I got distracted with something else.
I say even if you are thankful for being in good health you can still complain about the weather 😉
Not too hard to follow your advice! ?
Chocolate cheesecake and a cup of coffee just might be the ultimate mocha. ?☕
Yes!!! ?
I’m in OJ Tiare today. Smelling this is the first time I understand the connection between orange blossoms and orange fruit. I’m getting orange skin, not the pulp, but it is undulating back and forth with orange blossom. I can tease out oakmoss in the background, but the rest of the backbone is too well blended for me to be able to identify individual notes. Love this.
Trying out a chocolate chai today.
The perfect perfume to imagine that you are on a warm, sunny beach…
Funny you should say that. The radiator in my home office had been on the fritz recently, barely heating up. On Friday I got fed up and did some maintenance on it. Now it is working too well and my office is like an oven. But I’ll try to pretend it is a warm sunny beach instead. 🙂
Who makes the chocolate chai? I have one by Rishi but I do not like it.
Mine is Clipper Ship Tea Company: https://www.clippershipteaco.com/
No affiliation, but I am a big fan of both the tea and the shop owner, Melissa, who is a former Merchant Marine and just a very cool person.
Thanks so much Vee!
Tiare sounds gorgeous!
In Dior’s Milly la Foret. It is from a Royalty Scents decant, from a pile of them I thought to pass on–but as I started going through the pile I felt like I needed to give all of the rejects another whirl. Could swear this one has a blackberry note, but Fragrantica says that is not the case!
My 20-year old son starts a 5-week winter session internship in the Big Apple today. I am so nervous for him. He’s been to the city once before for a few days with friends, but that is it (okay, we took him there as a baby, but of course he has no memory of that visit). He found himself a couple of places to stay to keep his expenses down, and moved himself there on Sat. I am so nervous for him–hoping his day goes well. Watching fledglings flutter out of the nest is so haaaaard! Ayeeahhh.
I can tell you that NYC is the best place to be. ? I hope he enjoys himself and spreads his wings
Thanks LTSG!
Oh I sympathize with the nerves! It’s tough being a parent. I hope your son has a great day!
Thank you. Even if you’ve documented every feather, as a parent you are never entirely sure your kid will fly. Sigh.
As some one who grew up in NYC: he will be fine! The hardest thing will be LEAVING.
Actually, you and I both know that the hardest thing is going back! Sniff! (But I take your point! 🙂 🙂 🙂 )
Exciting! NYC is easy, so don’t worry too much. As my husband and I have often said, NYC is easier to live in than visit.
My granny used to say that the sidewalks were the softest in the world in Manhattan!
As someone who went to college in NYC, I promise he will love it. May I recommend sending him a copy of Roz Chast’s Going Into Town: A Love Letter to New York – it is a graphic/cartoon guide to the city.
Too complicated to send him anything at this point with his random Airbnb crashpads, but the book looks great. I may get it for myself–thanks for the rec!
He’s going to have a blast!
If you have a bad day and need reassurance, I am a lifelong New Yorker, and am happy to calm your nerves (missionista at yah to the whooooo).
That is sooooo sweet. I just talked to him. It sounds like his day was uneventful. The company is relatively new to interns (he’s an industrial design major) and he will have to help them understand how best to use him. But he’s sorted out the subway and the nearest grocery store, and I think he will sleep well tonight.
How fantastic for him…..he will love NYC and it is easy to manage, especially when young!! Hope he loves it as much as I did at his age!
Me too. That’s my wish too.
Don’t worry! I have been more than half of my life here in NY, and I am sure he will enjoy and have a great experience in the city!
Thanks PL67!
Aw! Very best wishes to Mr. OF Jr, I hope everything goes great for him.
Thanks! (But curse you for that mouth-watering photo of ice cream sandwiches. A true lemming!!!)
Seriously, don’t those look amazing? Her whole flickr set is a danger.
Best wishes to you both, Oakland Fresca!
Thanks Jalapeno!
Monday and I must start working!! Having a very hard time getting prepared for the semester this year – new class, and the pieces aren’t quite coming together. Anyway, super-non-compliant in PdE Acqua di Scandola. I only bought the sample because the sales person said it was one of her favorites; it’s a bit aquatic (duh!), but suprisingly, I like it!
I hope to get back to the viewing poll in a little bit – always good suggestions in there!
Hard to get going sometimes on a Monday, isn’t it? Hope things started to look more coherent by the end of the day.
Slow start for me today, too.
CP complaint in a sweet amber from my sample stash, Amber Absolutely (Forte & Manle). It’s very honeyed and plummy. I quite like it but I think I would tire of it.
I really enjoyed reading all the watching recommendations from the weekend poll! I’m looking forward to checking out Task Master, as well as the new season of All Things Great and Small.
I was going to watch ATG&S tonight, then realized I never did finish the last episode of Grantchester, so that’s my viewing for the evening.
I craved something more spring like, so i was wafting Eau de Lancaster. Fresh, green and herby on a mossy base.
I know that feeling!
I’m wearing Mx. which has a just a bit of gourmand sweetness to it, but I would not classify it as gourmand. (As I sprayed it on, I saw my Lost Cherry travel spray scoff and roll her eyes while my Outremer Cola giggled at my choice, and Guerlain Spiriteuese Double Vanille decant said “Mx.? Really? You couldn’t do better than that for the CP?” ) Turns out I don’t have many out and out gourmands, but lots with a gourmand element.
I love how your other perfumes judge your choices! LOL!
They’re all very judgey. 😉
Ha! I will be in SDV this week for sure.
Hopefully your perfumes are better behaved on you!
I’ll happily wear gourmands all week starting with Masque Milano Madeline today, which thunks my spray sample from Indigo. This one’s very nice and smells of sweet creamy chestnuts.
Didn’t get a chance to weigh in on my recent tv and movie watching this weekend so here’s what I’ve been watching and what I’m looking forward to watching soon:
Movies:
Lots of Hitchcock since Criterion Channel has many of them through the end of this month. So far this month we’ve watched Rope, Frenzy, and Marnie and plan to watch Shadow of a Doubt and The Man Who Knew Too Much next. Another great watch on Criterion Channel last weekend was Laura, film noir from 1944.
TV:
Currently halfway through season two of The Witcher like a few of you. We rewatched season one first since it’s been two years since we’d seen it. As someone who never played the game I LOVE the show. It’s such a fun world to escape to. Also watching Stay Close on Netflix, which is based on a Harlan Coben book. The Netflix series based on his books are all silly, easy fun.
Recently watched and loved Sex Education season 3 (that show brings me so much joy) and The Great season two (also brings me lots of joy) and got all caught up on GBBO.
Looking forward to watching the final season of Search Party, second season of Euphoria and starting the Yellowjackets series.
Oh. your scent sounds marvelous! I love a chestnut note!
And yes, toss a coin to The Witcher! Only up to the 1st half of the second season, but I love the relationships, the world building and politics. And I love how the show puts the various women and all of their faults, strengths and biases front and center.
Brilliant show.
Yes, agree on all points! Also, that song has been in my head constantly since starting up watching again a couple weeks ago. ?
Shadow of a Doubt is possibly my favorite Hitchcock. Laura is also wonderful…the music alone is stunning.
I’m really looking forward to Shadow of a Doubt. Apparently, it was Hitchcock’s favorite of his films. Honestly, I’m hard pressed to pick a favorite so far myself. Psycho is such a classic, but I’ve also been especially taken with Rear Window and Rope…and Vertigo and Marnie…
We used to host outdoor movie nights when we lived in Colorado. Projected Rear Window onto a king-sized white sheet (and it worked!) — so much fun.
That sounds really fun!
I’m with you on Shadow of a Doubt, such a great movie!
I’m in the middle of Sex Ed season 3. I notice they have upped the sex but also upped the educational messages, which is nice — I was reading (maybe from a link here?) that in some places, it takes the place of sex ed classes.
Oh, interesting. I had no idea! I do think I preferred the first two seasons to the third, storyline wise, but I still got a lot of laughs. I adore the characters and actors in the show.
I hope I was clear…didn’t mean schools were showing it, I mean I read that in some countries where this is little or no sex ed, people are learning from watching the series.
Oh, got it. Yes, that makes more sense than sex ed classes playing the show. ? However, I’m sad that kids and teens in some places have to get their info from tv and movies.
I’m in Dame’s BFMV (decant dregs-ish) and just not feeling it. Next!
PSA: In her latest newsletter, Suzan Becker announced that Chanel Cristalle EDP is currently available for purchase in France. She is currently shopping in Paris 1/10 to 1/17, and I don’t know if she will take orders now that she’s there, but it’s worth a shot emailing her if you really want it. If that doesn’t work this time around, she does go to Paris regularly.
I want to cultivate a life in which I am going to Paris on a regular basis!
And yes- Cristalle sold in France is just so more deeper yet fresher.
Hey, it could happen!
It hadn’t occurred to me that the same perfume sold in France would be so significantly different, but I haven’t shopped there in decades! In this case, the EDP has been out of stock in the US for a long while, so having it muled from Paris is the only option at present.
Thanks for the 411 about the Cristalle EdP!
You’re welcome!
Happy Monday!
The true slog of winter begins!
1) Am in Magic In The Air- a body from BBW that has almondy/fruity/musky tones- the happy chattering sibling to the more reserved and elegant Gucci Memoire. Really, really good- especially after exercise or WFH.
2) Have been given complete Admin duties- training wheels are OFF- and I have my own office space , where I will keep office hours in downtown Portland. Whee!
3) Am trying to decide whether I should enroll in the 401k offered? I already do the Roth? You guys who are more experienced- let me know!
If the company contributes on your behalf or matches your contributions, then enroll in the 401k. If they just offer it, with no match or contributions on their side, then pour your money into the Roth.
So a couple of years ago I started doing the Roth up to the max, so there is that. I am going to check and see if there is matching.
If you can afford the 401k, I would always recommend it…most especially if the company does any matching of your contributions. HR should be able to help you think about it and confirm if they match.
My advice is to always max out on available contributions as early in the year as possible, to the extent that you can. Rationale is two-fold: 1) get your money working for you as soon as possible and 2) if your employment circumstances change, you would have contributed as much as you can when there’s no guarantee that your next job will have it. (You cannot contribute more than the maximum allowable by law, which you probably already know.)
ITA!
You can have more than one type of savings program. Definitely enroll in the 401K!
If they match, then absolutely take advantage of the 401K….and even if they don’t, it is never too early to save more. I would not be able to have the comfortable retirement I do if I hadn’t maxed out all savings opportunities in my younger working life. Don’t just save the minimum, try to save more each year.
Hmmm, this is really a good way to look at it.
Absolutely go for the 401k!
I find this to be a helpful graphic of the advice on how best to divide savings between a 401K and Roth: https://thecollegeinvestor.com/1493/order-operations-funding-retirement/
And this one factors in things like where paying off credit card debt vs. maxing out 401K beyond the employer match:

I really liked these links and found them VERY helpful. Thank you!
Went w/ Shalimar Souffle Intense b/c it was an easy reach. I am having a tough time picking perfumes out I have noticed in the last couple weeks…when I am stressed or anxious I have a tough time making decisions…even small/unimportant ones.
My manager has Covid symptoms and is going to get tested today…her temp was almost 104. 🙁 I am a bit worried. We are all remote and have been for the duration.
sorry about your manager. It seems everyone we bump into is either just recovered or had omicron over the holiday break.
104 is high! Hope she is ok.
Oy vey! That temp is definitely concerning. Hope that your manager is all right.
Ironically I had a dream about Kilian Noir Aphrodisiac last night, but was not in a gourmand mood this morning. Wearing an old favorite, Dzongkha, which is really hitting the spot.
You smell great!
In Shalimar Body Cremé today, after the best hot shower in a state park in Nevada. The facilities are nothing to write home about but that HOT shower was a HUGE delight!
No hiking today as I found T-Rex has a small gash on a hind pad, so we’re hanging around getting odds and ends done. Doesn’t seem to be bothering her, but the stones here can be very sharp and I don’t want it to get worse.
Decided against Vegas because of the wildfire that is Omicron. Also, we’re camped a bit northeast of Vegas and had to drive through it on the way here. It’s like LA with the toxic cloud hovering over it…ugh! No thanks!
Also, have not yet found any bodies in the desert…we’ll keep looking! ?
Stay well! ?
Shalimar body cream is always a good choice
I want to use up my jar before summer. I have a back up packed somewhere in the garage area of the van. Only about half a jar to go and I’ll be able to thunk it!
Wearing Over The Chocolate Shop today. There is a thunderstorm rolling through so I am sitting on the deck enjoying the rumblings.
“Thunderstorm” and “January” usually don’t go together in my mind.
Unwittingly CP compliant in Nicolai Kiss Me Intense. Woke up to temps of -4, but we are now in the positive territory. About to head to the post office, if our garage door isn’t frozen shut. I popped outside to toss something in recycling and noticed the side door to our garage was a bit icy…on the inside. Yikes.
Oh my. OK, I will stop complaining, we are only expecting a low of 17.
First day back at work hurt but it wasn’t terrible.
I wore Bulle de Rose from Rosine.
Glad you made it Lucasai!
SotD is Diana Vreeland Absolutely Vital, the one in the red bottle with the purple tassel. Saw this on an online discounter so I caved. In perfumemath, it was cheaper than free! ?
This line has been pretty much dissed, but for the price I get a nice sandalwood-vanilla frag which is easy to wear.
Cheaper than free?! ?
LOL! Well, if $100 is the new free….
A nice, inexpensive vanilla-sandalwood sounds great!
Spent all day in Kiehl Musk but tonight I sprayed Infusion d’Iris Absolue.
One of my Xmas presents to myself was a blender smoothie maker and I now have one a day and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use and clean too. Let’s see if it will boost my health, it certainly already boosted my fruit intake.
I bought such a blender a number of years ago and love it. I had frozen dark sweet cherries and blueberries today with added protein, fiber, chia and collagen. My go-to is frozen kale, peaches and pineapple. Enjoy playing with it! The combos are endless.
Your smoothie sounds delicious. I rely quite a bit on frozen too at the moment because of winter.
Baby spinach in smoothies is a great way to add greens. Doesn’t affect the flavor, especially if you are using fruit/protein powder/ other additives, but really boosts your green intake. I miss my blender. ?
Thank you for the excellent tip Deva.
Easy to clean is definitely an under-rated attribute until you actually try to. ?
Totally agree, it’s actually so important.
I will have to try the Absolue some day.
I was just thinking about getting one of those – would you mind sharing which model you bought?
It shares some DNA with l’Heure Bleue. My blender is a Breville but I’m based in the UK so not sure if it’s available in the U S.
Thank you, Aurora!
Ah, l’Heure Bleue. One my faves.
The Absolute is the best version imo.
It’s my favorite too.
Custom hummus in the smoothie blender is really good too. Spinach is as mild in hummus as it is in smoothies, and sundried tomato hummus is my happy place.
Thank you for some excellent ideas for savoury blends.
I was looking over my perfumes and somehow my hand reached out and spritzed some JM ginger bikkie on myself. No waiting for Friday, it would seem!
Good to start racking up those points early 🙂
I took a brisk walk, had lunch, and now I’d like a nap but that would screw up my sleep schedule. Maybe I’ll take a bubble bath instead. I put on Rhubarbe Ecarlate this morning.
Bubble bath sounds lovely!
Those ice-cream sandwiches look great!
Another Monday. Too cold to be going outside without gloves, that’s for sure. Even for a quick trip to the mailbox, it’s a big old “Nope!”. ?
SOTD = accidentally following the CP in Angel Garden of Stars – Violette Angel EdP. It’s got a violet marshmallow accord sitting on top of a somewhat lighter Angel base. I can across a set of the Garden of Stars samples and pounced on it when I saw it. ?
Marshmallows!
If you thought today was ?, wait ‘til tomorrow!
Hopefully I will have no reason whatsoever to go outside tomorrow!
It’s supposed to be -38 in Montreal tomorrow morning! :-0
Fahrenheit or Celsius, that sucks either way!
I blame Canada for me freezing.
Garden of Stars is so awesome! I think violet is probably my favorite.
I haven’t tried any of the others yet. Still having fun with Violette. It would have been perfect for last Friday’s Pantone CP.
I haven’t tried the Violette, but I can confirm the the Rose is ? ?. ?
Keeping warm inside is the way to go, the Garden of stars series was so good, I have rose and violet and love them equally.

I stayed home all weekend. Happy that I have one extra bag of garbage plus two stacks of magazines. My next door neighbor mentioned to me last week that she and her common law husband generate a lot garbage (not really, it’s usually one puny looking garbage bag). I usually have one full one so anything above that means that I spent time cleaning out!
This afternoon, I played hooky for an hour to replenish my refrigerator (with fresh stuff). I got all I needed but there continued to be people totally unmasked. They don’t care for sure but I also think that some of them probably had COVID and think they’re invincible! Ugh. I double-masked and I just have to get used to it.
Is it okay to say that you smell delicious?
Definitely good weather for vanilla! Of course, She-ra would say that any weather is good weather to wear vanilla… ???
When I took my car to the service shop last week, there was zero people masked. Even the employees.
Good for you on the clean out. I have high hopes for doing one at the end of the month when I take a few vacation days.
I see so many here who don’t follow the mask rules. It bothers me if for no other reason than I’m a rule follower lol.
Sotd is Le Parfum de Therese and taking points with the melon note:)
That’s a beauty!
Shalimar Souffle Intense for me today. I will take points for the lemon cake smell.
It’s absolutely freezing here. Currently 10 degrees. It’s almost spring right? ( just lie to me, I don’t mind)?
It’s right around the corner! 😉
Your weather is going to warm up very soon!
Ooohhh you smell good.
We’re supposed to be in that range of temps tomorrow. I’m not looking forward to it. Brrr
I acquired Shalimar Cologne last fall and love it. It is Shalimar light with a lemony opening. I love to wear it at night…very cozy. I wonder if it smells like Souffle?
This was for lillyjo…
Honestly, I do not smell anything Shalimar like in Souffle. To me it’s very vanilla with a touch of lemon in the beginning. I’ve read some reviews where people say they smell Shalimar though.
Non compliant but smelling great in Bottega Vaneta. One of my favorite designer perfumes.
You are smelling great!
One of my favorites too!
Iris Torrefie today which I’m obsessed with. It’s so good. Definitely on my FB list. That’s the only good thing I have to say about this Monday. I ate French fries (and nothing else) for dinner if that tells you anything.
We shopped a bit at Nordstrom before dinner last night. I needed some makeup and shoes. I did a little sniffing but my hubs got JM Oud and Bergamot and TF Ombré Leather! He was into it haha, I was a proud wife.
Hey, if it gets really cold, I crave carbs!
