It's Friday and the sixth night of Hanukkah. Also, Joseph Conrad's birthday, National Bartender Day and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Our community project for today: wear a perfume with a rhubarb note, if you have one.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Hermès Eau de Rhubarbe Écarlate. When the top notes fade, I'm going to add a layer of Arielle Shoshana Saturday.
Reminder: on 12/10, for Emily Dickinson's birthday, wear a fragrance with a note she mentioned in one of her poems (helpful lists here, here, here).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning and TGIF!
Sotd is Loccitane Pamplemousse Rhubarbe. It’s not very long lasting so I will be topping up throughout the day or I might layer something else. Haven’t made up my mind yet.
Currently drinking magnolia oolong and eating a butter shortbread cookie.
I like that one!
Your tea and cookie sound wonderful!
Magnolia oolong? That sounds delicious!
Friday yay!
Must get lab work done, no breakfast just some coffee.
SOTD – AdV L’artisan the orginal which I am forever sorry I didn’t buy a bub of when I could.
Robin, the picture looks like ribbon candy and/or rhubarb. Of course I went immediately to the candy.
It has a tag that says rhubarb, but of course I don’t know for sure!
It is most definitely rhubarb. I love the satin texture to a nice stem of rhubarb. But yes, ribbon candy does come to mind.
I thought the photo was ribbon candy too, which made me think – ooh, rhubarb ribbon candy would be tasty! Beautiful image either way.
I’m wearing Jo’s Rhubarb, from a decant that I didn’t even know I had until I went looking for some rhubarb in my stash.
Score!
Twins! I like it a lot.
Triplets!
Don’t think I’ve ever contributed to the ‘Friday Scent of the Day’ column before, so am delighted to finally be doing so! I’m wearing Floral Street’s Electric Rhubarb (great name!) for the first time, & although I liked it on my skin initially, I’m not so keen a few hours later. It was part of a sample set I bought some time ago, so looking forward to trying the others in due course. Haven’t commented on any articles on NST for quite a while, so delighted to be back, & hope all the regulars with whom I’ve exchanged chat with, & of course your good self, Robin, are doing OK.
Welcome back!
Thank you!
Hello! I hope you are well and winter up there is not too fierce.
Very well thank you & trust you are too. We’re one of the parts of the country that’s been all over UK news recently due to a storm last weekend, but thankfully apart from tree debris trashing part of our back garden fence we were unscathed, unlike people in more rural areas who are still without power in their homes a week later, poor things.
Hello and welcome!
We are twins!
Hello & thank you. I’m quite new to Floral Street but have a ‘discovery set’ to try out, the rest of which I’m looking forward to.
Nice to see you!
Thank you.
Oh, interesting-the only Floral Street I’ve really liked from the few I’ve tried was Chypre Sublime, but after that 10mls ran out I decided I wanted a better chypre and didn’t look back…nice quality and affordable brand though.
A visit to their Covent Garden shop a couple of years ago was interesting – a sit down, a glass of fizz & a run through their offerings, which have increased since then. When I ordered their ‘discovery set’ for me & for a friend they popped a sample of their Arizona Bloom into the package – it’s lovely & just a bit different. I do like it when you get an unexpected freebie!
Hey Carolyn, so nice to see you!
Thank you, Robin. I still look at NST on a daily basis, I just haven’t had much to say recently as I haven’t been doing much, mainly due to the Covid restrictions we still have in place here.
I think many of us are doing less — I get it!
Hello again! Nice to hear from you any time.
You too, Jalapeno!
Those rhubarb peels are beautiful! For the CP Aura edt on one arm and Aura edp sensuelle on the other. Sensuelle is sweeter and projecting a bit more so far.
A double whammy!
I have no rhubarb, so I’m in Shalimar MVP. Just one spray as I’m off to the dentist to have the small cavity filled that they found a couple of weeks ago.? Oh how I hate Novocain. I am super sensitive to the epinephrine in it and it makes my heart race. Deep breaths, deep breaths.
I was going to reward myself with an afternoon massage, but I have a hair appointment, which should be almost as enjoyable.
My Caroline Hirons skincare kit arrived yesterday!? All the way from London with free fedex shipping in just a week! So exciting to look at all the goodies. 7 full size products to try out. Did I mention it was discounted almost $250?! (no affiliation)
Good luck on the filling. I had no idea there was epinephrine in Novocain. My heart pounds during drilling – just plain fear they’ll hit a non-numb spot.
Good luck with the dentist! Novocain isn’t fun…. Deep breaths.
I hope the hair appointment provides good relaxation.
Please take deep breaths and ask for a little bit of a head massage when you get to the hair appointment!
Oh ugh, same here with the epinephrine. Hope you’re feeling better by now.
Good luck with both the dentist and hair appointments!
I realize I have a lot of scents with rhubarb notes, but went with Comme des Garcons, Rhubarb from the Sherbert series, a straight up and suprisingly longlasting summery rhubarb. Have a lot of Aedes perfumes loves but not the original. I wonder if they will bring that back?
They are selling the “signature” aedes in the cute new bottle, but $245. Maybe they will make travel sprays like they did for the oillet and copal azur
That’s a nice one. I also like Cinnamon from the Sherbert series.
totally gonna check out if Cinammon is still available!
Love that one! It sent me on a quest to try other rhubarbs.
Jo Malone Tangy Rhubarb. Been looking forward to wearing this. I think it works just fine in the cold weather. It’s delicious and juicy.
We are going to look for a tree today. It’s been a “discussion” on placement. We originally wanted to move a sculpture, but it’s so heavy that even with our neighbor’s help, we weren’t comfortable moving it. I didn’t want it in front of our only big window facing woods, so I rearranged the living space while my husband was out putting the pumpkins in the woods to chop them up for the wildlife. We have a big wall where it will fit once I move a low long box.
The exercise confirmed two things: my husband and our cat do not like change. He complained quite a bit but settled in. Our cat? She came out of the bedroom from her nap and froze. Her expression was priceless – total confusion with a dash of fear. Like we’d transported her to an entirely new home. It took awhile, but she’s calmer now.
I know that look! My kitty has been through a lot of change this year. Fortunately she adapts decently well, though we were trying to keep her on the third floor while they were doing the dirtiest work on the first floor. She got out once or twice, flew downstairs because she missed it, then turned around to look at me with that same look. Like, uh, seriously? Then she headed right back upstairs.
Funny, but not funny. I would have loved to see the expression on your cat’s face.
Hopefully, she’s okay with it now.
She’s fine. Still confused over which side of the couch is “her side”
Poor kitty! They are so sweet, and so easily confused. They have very small brains, after all.
Aw, poor kitty! We startled one of ours earlier tonight, and she just bolted and hid for a while.
She got the deer in the headlights look!
We are Tangy Rhubarb twins today!
No rhubarb here. SOTD is instead Copal Azur, which rarely disappoints.
Yep, you smell great.
House twins!
I’m a fail for the CP but am smelling wonderfully cozy in L’Ambre des Merveilles. Happy Friday y’all!
Smellin’ good!
Indeed you are 🙂
I’m in Saturday with you (eventually), Robin! It’s my only rhubarb.
It stopped raining here, but now it’s cold. I think the ski hills are happy, but I’m sure we’ll be back to chilly rain soon enough, probably right in time for us to join the mad scramble at the Christmas tree farm tomorrow.
Hey twin!! I went ahead and moved on to Sunday, ha, so I am a mess of fading perfume.
Hi everyone, quickly stopping by before I delve into my homework. My last class is kicking my butt. It’s intense! Thankfully, my group for my final project all work well together.
I’m a CP fail, but wearing (and love) the Pomegranate Noir perfume oil by Remedy Northwest’s (formerly Body Time of Berkeley). It’s refreshing (plum and pink pepper) yet woody patchouli and guaiacwood. Sandalwood isn’t noted but I get a sandalwood impression in the far dry down – it’s woody, not creamy sandalwood.
That sounds yummy.
It really does!
The end is in sight, whoo hoo!
I’m in my only rhubarb-forward scent, Mugler B*Men: I sprayed it into my mask as well as on my skin because the top notes seem to last a lot longer on fabric. It’s really rhubarbaceous — rhubarbitous — rhubarbesque — WHATEVER. It’s great.
I like “rhubarbacious.”
Seconding!
Yes it is, and I miss it.
How about “rhubaralicious”?
Jumping in to say Hermes Rose Ikebana (I’m sure I’m not alone) – wish I hadn’t swapped my Burberry Brit Red long ago…
Shoes on and out the door for the first of two walks today!
You smell lovely! Looking forward to the second walk 🙂
😀
Wearing Aedes signature, my only fragrance with a rhubarb note. SO good! It’s not really meshing with this very overcast morning though.
I have a very full day of work ahead of me, but I’m still happy it’s Friday. I have lots of green tea and an almond chocolate croissant to energize me!
Mmm thst croissant sounds great. Maybe I should hit up the French bakery in the neighborhood this weekend.
And you smell great too!
Mmm, that croissant sounds fab!
What weather do you think suits the AdV Signature best?
Had a doctor’s appointment today and went without perfume. I hate seeing new doctor’s because I don’t have any kind of rapport. I am at home while applying Deneuve parfum. Will be heading to work soon but looking forward to having tomorrow and Sunday.
I bet you smell marvelous! I never wore this one back in the day, but I’ve since read lots of comments about how wonderful it is. I will continue to merely fantasize about it instead, for fear of having a unicorn to hunt down. Hope you enjoy it, Dawn!
Friday!
SOTD: d’Orsay Vouloir Être Ailleurs C.G.
I like the idea of a rhubarb-centered fragrance but I’ve yet to come across one I love. Fruit in general I find challenging in perfume.
The Hermes option is not bad but also not great IMO.
Cheers! Hope the holidays are off to a-rockin’ and rollin’ start!
How’s the d’Orsay?
I really enjoy it. True linden and good longevity.
I asked for a 30ml bottle from Santa ??
Nice! I saw that they had released a new line, so I e was curious. I see some new samples in my future!
In AdV Signature, one of my first true fragrance loves.
Good stuff!
Hi there, scent triplet!
Hi!
I have, and like, Rhubarbe Ecarlate, but am wearing…Winter Palace.
Taught my last class of the semester. iIf all goes well, it will be my last class on campus until January 2023 (teaching in Ireland, MAYBE, in the spring and then have requested sabbatical for the fall, but have not heard if the request has been approved).
Have meetings and loads of grading for the next ten days, and finals and consultations with students. They are so tired. (Me, too, but it’s really striking when they are 30 years your junior and look so worn out.)
I hope your Ireland adventure happens. End of the year here. Summer holidays until February for university students so our town empties out by 1/4.
Oh I’d love to know how your experience of teaching in Ireland goes! I did my BA and MA there (not in Galway, but oh my, the West is so beautiful) and I’m always interested in an educator’s experience of moving between the systems from one country to the next…hope it (and your sabbatical request) work out very well for you.
Fingers crossed for your trip and your sabbatical, that makes 2022 sound so nice!
That would make for a great 2022! Hope it works out.
I’m wearing the very nice and sadly discontinued Burberry Brit Red, which is a winter appropriate rhubarb perfume. Happy to still have a small decant of this lovely.
I will be putting on a spritz of this later!
Perfectly compliant in Rhubarb & Custard today.
I am currently on See’s website looking at limited edition holiday product including Dark Coffee Scotchmallows…?? No affiliation just wondered if they have any shipping deals for gifts and got sucked in by the yumminess as one does.
One definitely does!
PSA ror anyone interested in the new Estee Lauder Luxury Collection…they released a coffret of all 8 fragrances in 4 ml mini sprays that are 20% at Belk right now. I ordered the set from Belk on Black Friday weekend when it was 25% off. I have not sniffed any of these yet and have no affiliation to EL or Belk…I just love a spray coffret and noticed it’s on sale again.
rather…*for* anyone interested..a coffret that *is* 20% off…coffret..I don’t tire of typing that word 😉
Coffret purchased with 20% deal (and I got my go-to moisturizer in the deal as well); Enabler Badge tossed over to you!
I had one each of the dark and milk coffee scotchmallows, both delicious. You smell great!
The phrase “dark chocolate scotchmallows” just plugged into basically every pleasure receptor in my brain…
Dark Coffee Scotchmallows sounds like something my son and husband both need!
That is very noble of you Robin, to get your family those Scotchmallows instead of getting them for yourself! ;D
Yikes! I checked out those See’s Scotchmallows. They look SO good! Trying not to spend any more $$$$ online…
Oh man…that is making me miss the little See’s store in NYC. I bought holiday items all the time there. I still have a fondness for the suckers, because we sold them as kids when doing school fundraisers. But…I have to steer clear, since I recently bought 4 boxes of various Frango mints from Macys.
Wearing Saturday as it’s the only thing I have with any rhubarb in it.
This has been a rough ten days. My family has experienced a mugging, new braces, and a hospitalization for kidney infection in that short window. Everyone is ok/stable/healing, etc, for which I am profoundly thankful. But it’s been a lot! On top of it all, I got my covid booster yesterday, and today my head and arm hurt.
Oh, that’s awful. I hope you get some peace now and can unwind. Good luck with your booster.
Oh wow, what a week. I hope things vastly improve and glad everyone is okay!
That does sound like a rough week. Sending you hugs and wishes for a sublimely uneventful next week. Congrats on your booster.
?Ack! Well, after all of that, I hope the rest of the year is blissfully uneventful!
Sending you a big hug ? and a wish for peace for your family. Thank goodness at least everyone is ok ?.
Big hugs to you and your family. Yay for your booster and hope you feel better soon.
Oh dear! Sending lots of comforting vibes.
Oh, mon dieu, that’s too too much. Hugs to all of you and I hope there are many restful, sweet, uneventful days ahead!
Oh my oh my! That is a lot of stress, missionista, and I join everyone else in wishing you a very boring December!
Oy Vey! What a rotten stretch of days! Sending you thoughts of an uneventful rest of the year, and start to 2022.
“Bad luck” comes in threes so you’re done! Hoping you have a fun rest of the year. Congrats on your booster – my younger sister and BIL got theirs today too.
For those looking for boosters, try Costco.
Glad to know everyone is all right. Not a good week.
Oh no, yuck! I hope things go much better after this.
THANK YOU everyone, for all you kind words! Feeling better today. We’ve also experienced some good stuff in the last 10 days, like birthday celebrations. It’s not all bad. But yes, hoping for an extremely boring December…
We ate a lot of rhubarb when I was a kid. My grandfather had a huge patch of the stuff (( he lived across a park from us) and grew Victoria , which I think is the most common…the green/ red variety in most gardens. I seemed to spend hours chopping the stalks into inch long pieces, then we would boil it up in copper pans. The pans always came out super shiny afterwards. We ate crumble with custard, or pies with custard…all our puddings had custard ( even ice cream came with custard as my mother loved it) …sometimes burnt if I was in charge ( as it was really the first thing I learnt to make using powder or cornflower). Long winded way of saying I don’t have any rhubarb perfumes BUT I do have Copper. So, in honour of the rhubarb saucepan: Copper. Off to Dune with my son today. It’s funny here. We still haven’t had any COVID cases for over a year but in ten days people from Auckland (city with COVID) will be able to travel again and so everyone here is nervously enjoying the last week (?) of feeling relaxed in group situations. I think we’re about 90% vaccinated.
Hi, Kanuka!!!?????? So glad to ‘see’ you!
Oof, my mouth is watering now. If I’m completely honest, you really had me at “custard”, but I’m suddenly craving rhubarb crumble or pie.
Enjoy your movie outing today!
Hello there! I think custard made in a billy over a campfire is one of life’s essential pleasures. A bit lumpy, smokey, creamy and caramelised from catching on the bottom of the pot. Best eaten hot while sitting on a log surrounded by bush, with a view of mountains, brushing off sandflies.
??? The same thing goes for marshmallows, IMO. ?
Warm chocolate custard is a backpacking evening-treat staple for me — so very good for morale after a long day’s hike and in the gathering wilderness darkness. Thank you for sharing your childhood rhubarb memories! I’m growing Victoria in my garden; the nursery told me it would be deep red but it’s been almost pure green, so this winter I’m moving it to a sunnier spot. Fingers crossed!
Kanuka!
What a wonderful story- and please enjoy the opening up and Dune!
I will be thinking of you when I watch !
What lovely memories!
Enjoy the film and please let us know what you think of it.
I love rhubarb anything: pie, crumble, compote. Enjoy the movie!
Well I have never had a rhubarb custard pie, and I am betting it is even better than rhubarb strawberry…
Loved your story! And living on an island does have its advantages 🙂
I think the only custard pie I’ve ever had was coconut cream. Not sure if the American pies are the same dessert as your custard, though.
What a great, sweet memory! My grandmother grew rhubarb and made what she called rhubarb crunch, basically a crisp. We had with ice cream. Enjoy the movie. I thought it was quite good. My husband saw it twice and liked it better the second time.
Long time, no see (entirely my fault), but Happy Friday, NST!
I think this might be the only time I’ve managed to be twins with you, Robin! I’m with you and anyone else in the Hermès Eau de Rhubarbe Écarlate Club today—you all smell great.? It’s pairing well with the unseasonably-warm and dry weather here. (Thanks, La Niña.?) I’ve realized I end up huffing myself whenever I wear it, so I think I may have to find a FB when I’ve emptied my adorable mini…
Be well and have a lovely weekend, all!
Nice to see you back!?
??Thanks, Laila!☺️
Hey twin, and nice to see you Creosote! Hope you are well.
Thanks, Robin! I’ve been so bad at even lurking that I haven’t kept up with everyone’s news, so I hope you and yours are all well too!
We are still chugging along 🙂
Hiya Creosote!
Hey you!???
Glad you popped up creosote!
☺️Thanks, girl!
Hi Creosote!
Did you see the Tigers signed Javier Baez?!
He can hit and good looking! Lol! I am excited for spring training to start. Good to see you!
Hi, lillyjo!?? Good to see you too.
No, I hadn’t seen that about the Tigers—wow!!!?? (Boy am I glad the Cubs aren’t my home team.?) Every year, about 5 days after the World Series, I’m like, “Is it time for baseball yet??”?
CP compliant in Imaginary Authors Sundrunk. I very much like this happy little scent, and though it’s pretty much gone by now, it lasts longer than most citrusy scents.
I do like IA, and I need to try that one.
Not participating in the CP
Ormonde Jayne
Royal Elixir
This is Ambre Royal in extract strength
I am sure you smell lovely, ltsg.
No rhubarb for me as I’m in Parfum d’Empire Eau de Gloire.
*courtly bow* Very lovely!
In Electric Rhubarb from Floral Street, from a travel size! On a late autumn day, it’s tart and fresh and cheerful. Will top off later with Jo’s Rhubarb from Zara!
The top review on Fragrantica for Jo’s Rhubarb is….something.
[Scrolls over to Fragrantica… Reads review for Jo’s Rhubarb… Jaw drops open…] What the heck?!?
Just….WHOOOO!
Just read the review and kind of wonder where she sprayed her sample? I hope the reviewer isn’t thinking of publishing a perfume guide
I also read the review…what is seen…cannot be unseen… 😉
I chose Jo’s Rhubarb for the CP today too. Thanks for the heads-up about the top review; I will happily skip it!
Skipping the review — my thought exactly!
I’m in Aedes signature this morning, the scent that made me love rhubarb as a note. Cold but clear today, I am enjoying the sunshine. I’m wrapping presents that have to be sent today and watching GBBO Holiday Edition.
Oh dear, wrapping presents…I really need to get on the ball. And I need to watch the holiday edition!
There’s a small club here of AdV Signature wearers today.
I’ve just gone through the list on Fragrantica of perfumes with a rhubarb and I don’t have a single one, not even a sample.
So, I am going to remain perfume-free for the moment and check out new arrivals at the local perfumery. I got an email yesterday telling me that they now have the Ormaie range.
Oooh, Ormaie, lucky you! I have L’Ivrée Bleue and Toï Toï Toï, Papier Carbone will be next.
Let us know what you sniffed!
Beautiful photo choice, Robin. I never would have associated rhubarb with Christmas, but there it is!
Today I’m wearing the only thing I could find for the CP from a sample set – Olfactive Studio Flashback. Definitely one for summer, and not really floating my boat today. Will be switching to Diptyque 34 next.
I was just thinking, why do I so often let other things distract me from doing something I really enjoy, like being here on NST? ?
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Isn’t that a great shot? Some of these photographers have more patience than I can imagine.
You have a great weekend too AnnE!
Thanks, Robin!
Hope that your weekend is a good one, too!
Thanks, Jalapeño!
Stil no rhubarb to be had. SOTD is SSS Tabac Aurea for a grey drizzly day.
My van smells like toast, and I’m not mad about it. ?
Ha, who can be mad at the smell of toast?
SOTM is Lubin Itasca because I don’t want to interrupt my Lubin week. A crisp juniper/evergreen that almost veers into barbershop territory, but is held back by the resin and incense.
I was going to switch to CdG Rhubarb Sherbet this afternoon for the CP, but after reading the Fragrantica review for Jo’s Rhubarb that Ede97005 mentioned, I think I have to go for that instead. 🙂
Drinking Clipper Ship’s English Toffee black tea, which is decaf but tastes good enough for me to overlook that flaw. Yesterday’s F&M advent tea was Jade Oolong. Tasty for a green tea.
It’s very hard to get that reviewer’s smell-image out of my head. Hope you are enjoying it…the perfume, I mean.
I am! I’d be pretty happy if my stress sweat, etc., smelled like Jo’s Rhubarb 🙂
Another one here for Jo’s Rhubarb!
That review was something else. Yeesh!
In a rhubarb scent Rituals Rose de Shiraz for the CP, it is very pretty but doesn’t last well but Robin’s comment reminded me that I also have Saturday which I won here and should use.
Even the name of your SOTD sounds pretty!
Yes, quite romantic, it lasted better on my sleeve and might be more a summer scent.
December Dregs Day 3 is Tenero Narciso. Lovely!
For my project, I have unfortunately adapted a song (why did that correct to “dong”? but maybe it’s innocently thinking about bells ringing for the holidays).
*Anyway*:
https://youtu.be/Iqve2m8jidE
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend ahead!
December Dregs project sound good! Do you add alcohol to the dregs?
I have no rhubarb, so am paying tribute to her frequent pie partner, strawberry, in Outremer Fraise.
Did not know these two flavours are pairs together, so thank you for this!
They are a match made in heaven, hope you get to try some!
My favorite crostata is strawberry-rhubarb!
I was initially dismayed at the prospect of today’s cp. Rhubarb says SPRING! to me and, as a seasonal fragrance wearer, a Spring fragrance is not what I’m interested in wearing in early December as winter begins. But I found one that works for this rather warm 50 degree day that, although green, is earthy, woody, moist and aromatic due to the patchouli and vetiver base notes: the long d/c YR Neonatura Elevate. Rhubarb and mandarin orange open the fragrance, Spring notes of hyacinth and narcissus blossom a bit in the middle, but it’s the mossy green bottom that’s predominant on me and which I love. All three of the d/c Neonatura scents – Elevate, Cocoon, and Soufflé – were excellent.
Got a much-needed haircut this morning, which normally would be just a routine matter but in these days of continued limited social engagements was a very pleasant and much-needed ‘real person’ interlude. Looking forward to a visit with a couple of neighbors tonight, and I think I’ll continue today’s fragrance theme sans rhubarb with a bit of Wrappings to deepen that green, earthy moisty feel. Now that all the Thanksgiving prep and cleanup is finally behind me, I’m looking forward to a quiet weekend relaxing and then some holiday decorating ? next week. Wishing all a nice weekend ahead!
Wrappings is a great choice for this time of year! You smell great!
Yay for getting that much-needed haircut and yay for Wrappings!
Hooray for haircuts! Especially much-needed ones. I honestly don’t think I’d ever gone as long between cuts as I did in 2020.? Enjoy your fresh ‘do!
Just back from dropping off a batch of homemade blueberry scones for the saw crew working on my fuel reduction project, and got stuck in a horrendous traffic jam so I’m late to the perfume party, but properly CP compliant and likely harmonizing with many of you in the original Aedes, which I’m sorry to say I’ve been neglecting along with Palissandre d’Or and Copal Azur, all hidden away in the same box. Moved the lot of them more front and center in the perfume closet.
Wishing it was properly Friday for me but I have to work tomorrow — I’m leading a fire ecology outing on my beloved preserve. Should be fun, and guaranteed good exercise and beautiful scenery, and the public always loves these so it feels great to provide something of value for the community, but it’s always very taxing for me to be in presenter mode for several hours. Looking forward to returning home with Little Biscuit afterwards (he’s attending as my junior associate), putting our feet up, and then getting our Christmas tree on Sunday.
Good luck for tomorrow! We put up our (tiny, fake) Christmas tree this evening and it is so lovely to see it again-enjoy yours on Sunday!
I hope it goes well, it sounds so interesting! We hope to get our Christmas tree this weekend too.
Good luck to you and Little Biscuit tomorrow! ????
Sounds like you have a fun day coming up tomorrow!
I liked all of the AdV frags, but none of them were ever real loves. Well, as Robin says, money saved. ?
Enjoy your weekend!
What a fun weekend! Have a great time!
Fog just burned off here, it’s been so cool and gloomy here lately. 🙁 We get a couple of hours of daylight then the fog rolls back in.
Not in the mood for rhubarb, so I’m wearing 4160 Tuesdays Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits. Will spritz a bit of Burberry Brit Red later for form.
Not being a Londoner, that fragrance name makes me picture The Clash sitting around, having a mid-afternoon sweet treat…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkM5lrrnq_Y
Wow, that lack of sunlight has got to be rough!
Yes, it’s rather depressing. I don’t remember it being this foggy in the past.
Oooh, Hammersmith Tea & Biscuit was part of my order. Still waiting but that is to be expected.
Hello everyone and boy am I glad it’s the weekend. In the Hermès rhubarbe for the CP (hi to everyone else in this!) but I began the day in Etro Shantung as I needed some delicate beauty, and then put on Arpège as soon as I felt I could begin the weekend. The rhubarbe seems less springy than I was expecting, and it suits this cold evening better than I would have thought-what a good discovery! Right, off to read all your comments now. Best wishes to everyone reading and not commenting too-hope you feel involved and happy to be here ❤️
I’m in Amouage Honour Woman and oh mercy, it’s projecting. Two squirts shared between wrists and elbows, and it’s 2.5 squirts too much for me. I’ll give it awhile, but I’m thinking I’ll need my own bench at the dog park tonight!
Two squirts of any Amouage is pretty darn brave!
I must be over the top brave ?
I won’t argue with you. ?
I say stick with whatever routine you normally do. You never know when a person may use it to start a conversation (if this is your preference).
It worked out fine. I took the decant to the dp and gave it to someone who likes gardenia. We’ll see how she likes it!
Jo’s Rhubarb, from Zara, for me today after my first SOTD wore off! I like its mix of rhubarb, grapefruit, and vetiver. And it is very affordable, so I don’t care a bit about spritzing away.
Sounds wonderful!
I’m wearing Quel amour! by Annick Goutal as I could’nt quite face rhubarb today. It’s a great Goutal, cheerful without being silly, and very pleasant to wear.
Cheerful without being silly? This sounds great!
Another day, another load of dishes in the dishwasher. On the plus side, it means that I made enough food yesterday for a few day’s worth of tasty leftovers! Plus, we are going to smoke a batch of ribs this weekend.
Some sad news late last night. Mr. Jalapeno’s uncle, Uncle W, passed away. He had dementia, and was living in an assisted living/skilled nursing facility. He was a good mensch.
SOTD = still more of the original Aedes de Venustas EdP. I thought about AS Saturday, but just wasn’t feeling it this morning.
I’m sorry to hear about Mr. Jalapeno’s uncle.
Thanks Vee. He is sorely missed.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Thank you cazaubon. He was so gracious and welcoming the first time I met him, shortly after getting married.
So sorry for your loss, jalapeño. Hugs to you.
Thanks hajusuuri. Hugs are always appreciated.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Jalapeño. Hugs to you and Mr. J.
Thank you AnnE.
Ahhh, my condolences Jalapeño.
Thank you LizzieB.
Tasty leftovers sitting in the fridge, ready to go—that’s good stuff.??
Condolences to you and Mr. Jalapeno on your loss.
Yep! And no cooking, either! Microwave ovens are one of the best inventions ever.
Thanks Creosote.
And air fryers!
I’m so sorry about your loss. Good mensches are irreplaceable.
I’m sorry for your loss, Jalapeno. Gentle hugs.
Adding my hugs ?? to the others and condolences on your family’s loss. Tough enough any time, but especially this time of year.
And I’m with you on dishes in the dishwasher. There are just two of us + three cats but we must sure eat a lot!
We smoked a batch of ribs last weekend – mmm, good. Enjoy! ?

CP fail but I smell oh so good! Day 3 of my perfume advent calendar revealed Kilian and I have no Kilian perfumes with rhubarb as far as I know!

In other news, I have received at least 2 emails imploring me to get my bill via email because the USPS will be experiencing more delays! Do it now! Well, per my experience with a lot of packages I sent out in the last 2 months, there’s been no change other than under promising and over delivering. I say if the companies are concerned for me, THEY should mail out earlier. The end.
FWIW, I think that when companies urge customers to switch to email, they want to cut their *own* costs by not having to send snail mail.
Exactly. I have experienced no slower service from the PO, things are getting delivered on time or even early.
They mist think we were born yesterday.
Ugh – must, not mist!
Guerlain advent calendar!?! ?!!!
Dangerous knowledge, isn’t it?
Good stuff!

Hey everyone! All this talk of rhubarb reminded me of a video my uncle shared with my mom a while ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG62zay3kck I don’t speak German, but apparently the words for rhubarb, Barbara, bar, barber, barbarian, beer, etc. can be combined in delightful ways :).
I wore Jo Malone’s Tangy Rhubarb today, and since it tends to fade quickly on me, I sprayed Hajusuuri-style and I can still smell it tonight. Yay!
