It's Monday, and tonight will be the Harvest Moon (it has already looked full here for the last two nights). What fragrance are you wearing?
I've been at the beach all weekend, and I'm commando at the moment. My fragrance plan for the drive home later today is Hermès Eau de Néroli Doré.
Reminder: 9/24 is the birth date of Jim Henson and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Wear whatever fits for whatever reason — scent a muppet or a Fitzgerald character, maybe?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

oh my so early on left coast.
up for meeting.
what a lovely picture, Robin.
post shower something a little cozy. maybe les immmmmodablesssss
I hope tonight’s moon is that gorgeous…was really quite impressive here already.
Sorry you had to be up so crazy early!
what can I do -the house of many fragrances including new ones today! keeps me busy.
A little cooler today in the Midwest. Yay. Put on my newest today— H24.
Robin, you’ve been at the beach so much this summer I am going to start calling for you Annette! Lol. I’m glad for you!
I am commando too. I am heading out to get my second shot and am very nervous. I took 2 days off in case I get sick. Neither one of my kids did. Fingers crossed!
Congrats on your second jab!
Congrats and I hope you have only mild, if any symptoms:)
Congrats on your second jab! Things will be okay!
We have completely lucked out this year…and do not anticipate we will have this much access next year.
VERY good luck with that 2nd shot today.
Congratulations on your second jab, lillyjo.
Good luck, Lillyjo! You will be fine!
Yay for second shot, hope it will be fine.
Thanks everyone! So far so good ?
good to hear!
Yay! That’s good to hear!?
Getting the second shot was a big relief for me, and I did feel it more than the first, but mostly in how tired it made me. The soreness was about the same as what I get some years from the regular flu shot, but it lasted longer. Hope it goes well for you!!
Fingers crossed for no side effects! My only side effects were a sore arm and feeling sleepy.
I’m so glad to hear that you are getting your second shot! Adding my wishes that your side effects are minimal.
I’m in Chamade today, ready for autumn. Getting books at the library to cozy up.
Oh yay for new books!
You smell wonderful – and I love a good stack of library books!
Thinking about Tauers Incense rose for an afternoon autumnal pick me up..
Ah, I think I have some left and should find it.
That’s another good pick for fall!
First day back in the office after a week working off-site. I forgot my ID and everything…
Wearing Saturday after being inspired to do so by the weekend chat yesterday. It is very fruity and perky, which is a nice vibe for first day back.
Hope the rest of the day went smoothly!
I am in the orange creamsicle version of Shalimar
Beautiful sunny day here in the big apple
Starting a new book today, House by the Cerulean Sea
Wearing a cute Missoni skirt and will throw on some makeup..but first coffee.
I loved that book! I hope you enjoy it
This is good to hear! I took a book pause after I read Sally Rooney’s new one, and then I was on the waiting list which felt like eons for House by the Cerulean Sea to come in to my library.
I am just starting out, but so far I am intrigued! Also the author has a nice way of story telling..and bringing you into this world.
Ohh, that book looks good!
So far so good, if you don’t mind a bit of fantasy…
Love your outfit!
SOTD is 7 Virtues Rose Amber. This one is sort of Tauer Rose Flash if RF went on a vacation and came back a bit more relaxed. I like it.
My sisters visited over the weekend and sampled gleefully from my perfume collection. So fun to share the wealth of good smells!
Ugh. My comments keep ending up in odd places. So sorry!
Your comment is better than my post about books and clothes
Missoni skirts are so nice! I have one too
Scent: Goutal Un Matin d’Orage. Evidently released in 2009? Urg! Anyway, at the time, Goutal released perfume pens – or whatever they called it – it was a rollerball, and IIRC they cost $28. At that price, I couldn’t say no. As it turns out, I couldn’t say yes to the aquatic note. (Perhaps this was too soon after finishing off a bottle of Acqua di Gio, and then disliking the replacement.) Today, I still have about half of the rollerball left, and I like it *much* more than I did when it was released.
One of my all time favourite Annick Goutal perfumes. Glad you’ve come round to liking it.
Thanks for the reminder to grab it out.
I’m wearing Nicolai Fig-Tea. Interestingly enough, the info with the box (I bought a full bottle) does not include any mention of figs. However, I checked both Fragrantica and Basenotes and both listed figs in the notes section. Anyway this is the only fig fragrance that I really like, other than Philosykos.
I find fig scents a bit difficult. I love figs, and I love the smell of figs, but I just can’t seem to wear fig scents.
I’m entirely with you on fig scents — the only ones I’ve found that work for me are the Nicolai and the Diptyque. I wanted to love Yesterday Haze (and do love the scent of the sprayer) but there’s something icky in what it does on my skin, and that makes me hesitant to try other fig scents.
I didn’t enjoy Yesterday’s Haze either… smelled too “synthetic” on me/ to my nose. And my favourite fig is Phylosikos too!
I think a lot of fig scents include or seem to recall the scent of coconut, which may be what puts people off them. In my own case, that’s a plus! I especially adore L’Artisan Premier Figuier.
So yesterday I wore Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate, I thought it was a very nice powdery-floral, and today I will be putting on Eau de Velours, of the Bottega variety. I did a little moon-gazing after I got home from my double last night, and indeed that moon looked quite full, and bright too.
Question: does anybody else have evaporation problems with their samples? I store mine in little plastic baggies and I’ll go to wear one that’s almost full and find that it had evaporated almost half way, like yesterday’s. I wonder if I am storing them wrong or something?
Yes, most of them don’t seal well so they evaporate. Happens with decants & samples regularly, I’ve even had it with full bottles if the sprayer mechanism wasn’t crimped on properly.
Hmm, I guess there’s nothing I can do about that except make sure the plastic is sealed tight enough. Or maybe just keep the loose ones out. And I had taken off the atomizer pouf from one of my FB’s and replaced it with the cap. Thanks for replying!
You can reseal the seams with Parafilm.
If you don’t have Parafilm, you can also use plumber’s tape or electrical tape.
It’s very brisk in my neck of the woods and I needed a warm cozy scent so I am back in Ambra again! Looking forward to this week’s community challenge, I have a couple of ideas! Also this seems to be a tea loving group, if any of you have kids around the ages of 9:00 to 11:00 may I recommend the graphic novel The Tea Dragon Society? I read it this weekend, and it was a delight!
Wow my phone really thought I was giving times not ages ?
Sometimes autocorrect is hilarious. ?
I love graphic novels
Me too! I’d been looking for this one for awhile before I stumbled upon it last Saturday!
I am a kid at heart so will look for this! Thanks for the rec!
Paestum Rose for me today. This one always reminds me of fall and Oktoberfest (I bought it during Oktoberfest time in Munich). Just taking a moment now to enjoy the silence — the kid had volleyball practice before school, which led to a whirlwind of agitated people trying to get out the door, and then blessed quiet. One of the advantages of working from home.
You smell wonderful, and quiet at home is bliss.
Ooh, a quiet home sounds heavenly.
Morning all, my SOTD is Eau de NY, by Bond No. 9. One of my favorite orange blossom/green scents.
Monday came way too soon…. I woke up early then hit the snooze three times, I need to put my phone across the room so I get my butt out of bed!
I used the stair climber at the gym today and thought of you. I think you mentioned that you use it in one of your posts. I need a variety and I am sick of the elliptical.
Nice! Yes, I use the stair master (10 minutes) to warm up and get a light sweat going.
Yesterday, I did circuit (all body parts) and 10 minutes of stair master. Today, I’ll walk three miles and get shoulders/legs done.
You smelled lovely today!
Up early for 7am yoga and planning on a bike ride at 10. My number one goal this winter is fitness, I’ve lost most of my strength due to pandemic staying at home and am determined to get back as much as I can, despite my age. It’s going to be a hard slog.
Wearing Guerlain Nuit d’Amour, one of those sweeter fruitier scents that is a bit much for full summer heat, but perfect for our transitional weather.
I spent all day yesterday rearranging my perfumes and reviewing the perfumes that came back to San Diego from Montreal. One more cupboard to go through and then I’m going to call it finished. I should really catalogue my backup bottles but that is something I’d rather not face right now. Will think about it….
I am mostly blissfully unaware about BUBs and intend to keep it that way ?.
It was a constant frustration being in two locations, so I bought a lot of duplicate bottles. Not intentional backups, but the effect is the same.
Nuit d’Amour is a great transitional scent! You smell wonderful!
Thanks for the tip, I’m really enjoying it!
Oh, I feel ya. I am trying to maintain and lose 15 lbs (Ialready lost six). It’s not as easy as it used to be.I like doing yoga for recovery. It really helps my back.
I took a look at my BUBs, it was a little sobering but they are fragrances I frequently wear and enjoy.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good I felt out on the bike. The yoga was a good warmup. I am going to ride M/W/F after my 7am yoga classes to try and get back in shape.
All of my backups are perfumes I love and wear, but at my age they will probably outlast me.
Guerlain house twins.
I am going to look up your SOTD
It’s a lovely fruity floral, perfect for late summer.
I salute your health goal!
SOTD: Encens Divin by Givenchy
Heading off to give blood shortly. I learned I’m O- which is highly desirable as the universal blood type and can be given to any other blood type in emergency situations when they don’t know what blood type one might be. I feel special
I’m committing to giving every 8 weeks; no biggy, and just 6 blocks away + good snacks.
What scent does one wear to give blood??? Lol. Sounds very ghoulish.
Definitely something from BPAL!
O- is pretty special indeed. I say drink a lot of water before as that will make the donation go much faster.
I have O+ but it is lacking one of the letters that come after the blood type that makes it ideal for people who have had transfusions in the past.
My dad is O- as well and gave as often as possible for many decades. I on the other hand am a nervous nellie and grateful that I’m not eligible to donate (too small). Kudos to you!!
Thank you for donating, floragal.
It’s such a wonderful deed to give blood, I was a blood donor too until I fainted one day and was told it was safer to stop.
Yay you for giving blood! I used to be a regular donor.
I’m O+ and give every 8 weeks. I never wear perfume, but thoroughly enjoy the snacks! (My local Red Cross is stocked with home made baked goods. The brownies are incredible.)
Oh, I’m going to head to your donation site! ?
I was/am hanging around the I5 corridor trying to make an appointment for pre-employment drug screen and physical, which proved to be harder than it should. Very busy and backed up, which is maybe good, possibly meaning people are getting back to work..? Headed for the coast after my appointment tomorrow. The Oregon coast is my favorite place on earth and now that kids are back in school, I’m hoping the area will be less packed.
I did pass a LUSH yesterday (at a very nice outdoor mall just south of Portland) and stopped in. Unable to smell any perfumes unless you did it through your mask or spritzed on your arm and stepped outside to remove mask and sniff. I really couldn’t be bothered, but did spot a few new-to-me scents I may explore in the future.
Ended up with a leave in conditioner for curly hair, a moisturizing bar (forget what they’re called) and a sample of some honey shampoo. Has anyone used the “Curl Power” leave in? I purchased the smallest tub in case it doesn’t work for me.
Blah, blah, blah!
The point of this post is that I’m CP compliant in En Voyage Zelda! I love this dark, voluptuous, humid perfume. It’s even better on cooler mornings, though it works in warm weather for me as well. I may wear it all week!
Happy Monday and stay well NSTers!
Any particular Oregon coast spots you recommend? I’m planning for future road trips.
Oh yes! So many! Will you be road tripping and hoteling or camping? I would really take your time meandering down 101. I love the Cape Perpetua area the most, but that just me. It’s minimally developed, has a couple lovely campgrounds, some good short hikes (The Hobbit Trail), plus I love small towns like Yachates and Florence. I haven’t explored 101 in northern Oregon as much as the southern part because the southern part was more accessible when I was contracted for a couple of winters in Salem. You can’t go wrong ANYWHERE on the coast!
??This was in Brookings, on the southern coast, but really, the ENTIRE coast is lovely!
I know the mall of which you speak, and am amazed that you found a place to park there! ? Enjoy the coast — it’s been way too long since I was there last.
I got there a bit early so maybe that’s why it was wide open. As I was leaving, the throngs were arriving so I timed it just right! ?
Oh, and speaking of hair, did you do the shag haircut you were thinking about?
Yes, I did! I cut very conservatively, just to see if I was going to get the shape I wanted and it worked well. The next time I’m in a hotel/motel, I’ll take another inch or two off. I used regular ✂️ which I cannot recommend! Planning on using a better pair next time.
Excellent — so glad it worked! I watched a few of the guy’s videos and was entertained. He does recommend “actual haircutting scissors” several times ? so that might be a good idea. That said, I often trim my own bangs using tiny nail scissors, and my hairdresser (bless her heart) swears that I do a decent job. I choose to believe her. ?
Yes, I heard his scissor recommendation and thought, “Nah, regular scissors will work fine.” Lesson learned. ?
You smell wonderful! And spot on for the CP
I use Curl Power – I think it’s really good. I apply a spray leave in from Lush (Super Milk?) and then scrunch in curl power and air dry. Works for me!
Ok, good to know! Thank you!
Vacation time is over and have to leave for work in a few minutes. Wearing CM Intense today.
Such a shame vacation has to end!
Wearing IUNX Eau Sento, a light, peaceful, gorgeous incense scent for this time of the year.
Busy half of the day at work. Already on my third cup of coffee. At least the day is beautiful outside. ?
You smell gorgeous! Today I thought of you liking mimosa because I went to grab some hand cream and found a tube I have of La Compagnie de Provence Mimosa. It’s light and lovely if you haven’t already tried it.
Thank you, Allo!
I am in a mimosa kick now so I definitely have to try La Compagnie de Provence Mimosa. Thanks for the info! ?
It IS easy being green. For me, anyway. I will celebrate my first crush (or possibly my second, after Mr. Green Jeans — notice the theme?), Kermit the Frog, by seeing out the summer with a week of green fragrances. Today is Cristalle Eau Verte.
I loved Mr. Green jeans!
Thanks for the reminder of Mr. Green Jeans – just looked up some Wikipedia pictures and had happy memories of watching that show!
Looking forward to seeing your choices, love green scents.
The weather has changed, it was cloudier today and cooler.
Was in Prada Infusion de Mandarine to cheer me up, and tonight it’s the turn of vintage Habanita, the box and bottle have seen better days but the juice is fine, I always forget that it is such a powder fest.
You will smell wonderful (I don’t know the Prada). I need to give Miss Habanita a wearing soon! I have a little bit in an 80’s-ish thrift find bottle.
I’ll include a decant of the Prada in the package I have for you (will mail out sometime in October).
Thank you and thrift finds are the best, glad too you will be able to experience Mandarine thanks to H, it’s a happy scent.
Sounds like fall is wasting no time in setting up shop where you are. ???
Love the emojis, the weather has been unstable and we’re back to higher temps later this week.
What a great picture Robin, and so happy you’ve had so much beach time this summer! I’m hoping to get back one more time this year, too. I think our full moon will be hidden tonight but we are having much needed rain, so that is fine. I’m staying in and baking cookies. SotD my recent purchase of Cuir Beluga – I blame Undina for her post about the end of the L’Art et La Matiere line. I was not going to miss any of them, but when I saw they are still around at regular price, and given that I love Iris Torrefie, I did lemming on for sentimental reasons. I will be hoping until proven otherwise that the new apothecary bottles will have the same good stuff, but that’s for next year’s purchases. I guess I think Cuir Beluga (mine is a new bottle) is very pricey for a scent I find quite soft. However it is also very enjoyable, and not like anything else I have, so no regrets. Iris Torrefie remains a real love. Like several people very near and dear to me, it is not as shy as it seems when given the right setting!
I came around to love Iris Torrefie also
Cuir Beluga is in my top ten of all time. It is cozy and comforting.
I can see that being the case – after reading many reviews, someone got me thinking (overthinking?) that the Cuir Beluga is for the living whale – his white, vanilla parfait, pure and sweet self, not some cured leather hide.
Iris Torrefie fan here! (and most l’Art et la Matiere let’s be honest… though I am very upset with recent price changes and discontinuations).
I think you smell great! I thought the same about Cuir Beluga in the beginning and took me a decant to properly sample and appreciate its glory. If you like L’Heure Bleue, the combination is really nice (I find). 2 sprays Cuir Beluga 1 or half of LHB
Yes! There is “fur sure” a L’Heure Bleu connection with Cuir Beluga! And Iris Torrefie – it’s the real deal!
Cookies and Guerlain, wonderful all round.
I hope we both get another beach trip MossyBerry!
We had lots of rain over the weekend so no moon sightings here. It’s looking like tonight might be clear though, so I’m making a note to check out the harvest moon if I can. It’s still chilly this morning, so I’m in Paracelsus for the warm deliciousness. Happy Monday!
Good perfume pick for warm and delicious! Not quite time for me to bring my little bottle out, though. Still too warm!
I’m trying to breathe shallowly all day — more fires have been sending smoke to blanket my little town…….
My SOTD is Aramis Calligraphy. Not as much oud as one would expect, this seems to me to be reminiscent of a really good 80s masculine. It’s not earth-shatteringly different or swoon-worthy, but it’s solid. I like both the Saffron and Rose flankers better.
I like them in Rose, Calligraphy, and Saffron order. Saffron started the ball rolling, but I ended up liking it the least!
Saffron is probably my favorite of the bunch, but Rose can really grow on you — there’s something so satisfying about a spicy, jammy rose scent.
I hope you get some rain! I’ve been in the path of drifting smoke and it’s horrible to have to breathe that junk in even a short period of time. Is this all smoke from the California wildfires or is there something burning closer to you home?
For a while, it’s been from the wildfires all over the state, but then we got about a week of reprieve. This time, it’s a small (15 acre) brush fire close to home, combined with the continuing fires in the Sequoia National Forest, which is just over the mountains to the west.
Oh, you’re in Vegas, right? Boy, you’ve had a Smokey Summer for sure. If you don’t get rain, I hope wind will at least shift to give you a break.
Yuck on all that smoke! I will try my best to send my rain your way. ☔
Yuck – I hope the smoke blows away soon!
No scent just yet, annual mammogram scheduled for this afternoon. Maybe Desarmant after.
I hope the mammogram went smoothly and wasn’t too uncomfortable.
SOTD is DS & Durga Poppy Rouge. A few new bottles have popped up on eBay lately, and I’m glad I snagged one. A gorgeous spicy, warm, floral – one of those beauties where you can’t pick out a particular note; it just all smells good.
Congrats on your eBay find!
Getting into the season with Solstice Scents Halloween Night…candy corn, chocolate, caramel and black licorice jelly beans.
That sounds like some serious sugar!
Wearing Memo Argentina today.
I enjoy it but it’s one of those safe playing rose & oud combinations and there are many of those out there on the market.
If you were going to buy a safe rose & oud combo though, you might as well get it in that pretty bottle
I’m visiting my mother for a few days, and having a very nice relaxing time. I booked the flights a couple of months ago, then a Covid outbreak happened, but it has all worked out. Today is the 20th anniversary of my brother’s death, so we’ll be visiting the cemetery to leave flowers. I can’t believe how quickly time has passed.
Losing a sibling must be incredibly painful. My sympathies on this sad anniversary.
Glad that it all worked out and you are having a nice visit. I am so sorry for your loss Gaynor. May you and your mother find comfort in each other’s company.
I’m so glad you are able to be with your mother on this anniversary. Hugs to both of you.
Safe travels, it will no doubt a comfort to be together on this sad anniversary, hugs.
Chanel “Pour Monsieur”, a failsafe choice for a day with zero time to think about perfume before running out the door. TOMK is back to Spanish classes so I met up in town for brunch – sadly the places I had shortlisted either had no tables free or close on Mondays (how would I know? I never do brunch on Mondays!). So in the end it was just coffee and a croissant which IS NOT BRUNCH!
I went to the beach in the evening – few people and a very off-season vibe even though it’s still in the mid-20s C . Well, I will be a crazy foreigner and keep going for a few weeks yet, until the clocks go back and we lose the evening daylight until Spring. :^)
Crazy watching the volcano on La Palma – last night the news was showing the initial explosion and 2 houses caught in the flow; tonight it’s gone up to 100 houses and a school destroyed in the slow, relentless advance towards the sea.
That volcano is terrifying and captivating at the same time. I hope everyone has evacuated.
Many people lost their houses and were evacuated with only a suitcase.. must be awful?
Wow, that’s very shocking! I hadn’t heard about it and must read more news.
Don’t, you’ll just get depressed. Have a glass of wine instead. ?
SOTD = Valentino Valentino Uomo
Perfect perfume to transition from summer to fall! Woody, hazelnut, leather, vetiver and coffee ?.
With all with what’s wrong in the world, I will add one more today. I have another one that has to wait.
Bath & Body Works – there’s always some kind of sale going on. Doing the math, I was definitely happier with $3.50 each for a soap (vs. $7.50-$8.50 or vs. 4 for $20 / 6 for $27). I was only able to find 2 that I liked so I brought them to the register and the cashier said $18.13 and I said impossible since it was $3.50 each! I told the cashier that there was a sign with that pricing and she looked at me skeptically. I went back to where I saw the sign and sure enough it was still there. There were 3 other SAs – one said the sign wasn’t there in the afternoon (OKAAAYYY, and where would I have found the sign to place it there???), the other said I can only purchase the soaps that were displayed there (NAH, WRONG, the sign did not say this shelf or display only) and the 3rd said that sale ended yesterday (you’re not doing me any favors, I know my rights as a consumer). Seriously people, they worry too much about stocking shelves, as they should, but they need to 1) do a better job of controlling how many signs and where they post them so there’s no rogue signs and 2) follow the merchandising info so there is no decision to be made as to product placement. Unbelievable!
Good lord. So did you get the price that was displayed?
I did…they really didn’t have much of a choice.
I haven’t set foot in a Bath & Body Works in ages. Your story is convincing me that I’m not really missing much.
They do have some nice sniffs but if I don’t set foot there for 6 months, I wouldn’t be missing anything.
Ugh. Just ugh.
Really. There’s an even worse encounter at Whole Foods which I will talk about later this week – I need to be careful with how I phrase things.
My state used to have a law that those mistakes had to be honored plus you could get up to 5 dollars back for each item overcharged ( if you had completed the first transaction) they did away with it about ten years ago but most places still will give you the signed price.
I also noticed that bbw changed their usual sale to buy 3 get 1 free instead of 2 free.
I bet those sales will be back! I remember the $5 penalty too,
hajusuuri, I’m feeling your pain. I went through the drive through pharmacy at Rite-Aid yesterday, to drop off a prescription. The pharmacy clerk told me they were out of that medication, and that I should go to Walmart instead. I asked her why she couldn’t order more, since, um, it’s a pharmacy. She told me she wouldn’t be able to tell me when the new stock would arrive. I expressed my surprise that Rite-Aid was absolutely out of a standard prescription sleep aid, apparently didn’t want to get more of said sleep aid, and even if they did want to, they couldn’t manage to tell me when it would arrive. We went back and forth a few times, until my disgust with the entire situation just made me laugh and tell her, “Never mind. Clearly, I now have to go set up another account at a different pharmacy.”
What on earth is happening, people?
Oh, I had a pharmacy issue, too! I ordered my two regular meds via CVS’s automated phone refill system, and the “man in the machine” told me it would be ready for pick up in SEVEN days..! I called the pharmacy directly to inquire why the refills would take so long, was told “oh, we are filling them right now!” So, me being a self-flagellating idiot, I ask why the MitM told me a week, she says, “oh, don’t pay any attention to that. It’s never right..” So my question to her was “Why does CVS use a system that is inaccurate and plainly doesn’t work?” Just got giggles in return..! How much money did CVS pay for this ? system?! The cost of which is being passed down to consumers, I’m sure!! Omg! I can’t stand inefficient systems. Drives me up a wall ?
If I end up in hell when I kick it, it will filled with all kinds of circuitous calls “press one for his disciple, press two for his minion, etc…” when I’m trying to get a hold of the Devil himself, hurry up and wait in line for said Devil to appear because he’s 3 hours late, and computer programs that explain the rules of Hell but end sending my to the IRS website..!
I’ve been cursing CVS lately, too. The one I go to has been trying to refill a prescription that I do NOT need a refill for!
I may very well end up joining you for expecting the acceptable minimum competency from the people whose job is to assist us.
Inefficient systems turn me into Karen! ?
I think it’s overworked people and new people coming in are not trained properly. Plus the systems implemented per Deva’s comment below are illogical.
SOTD- Mademoiselle Guerlain (galbanum and marshmallows)
And coming home after work, a spray of Vamp a New York. I find this one almost gourmand… I think it’s my favourite tuberose.
I like the sound of your sotd.
Wearing Bottega Veneta, I have been craving it and couldn’t locate my bottle, finally dug it out yesterday. Such a perfect transitional scent. Someone mentioned Cuir de Lacombe recently and it got me craving pretty leathers.
I should get my bottle of BV out sometime soon…
You smell marvelous!
You smell amazing. Can’t wait for it to be cool enough for me to wear BV.
Day off due to migraines- my body’s way of saying too much, too soon, too much!
Am testing Perfect Intense. It’s very lovely, actually – warm, ambery amd almondy- jasmin-y . It dries down to a rich almond/floral powder. Really unisex- this would smell amazing on those who identify as male!
But is it $138 perfect? I mean, the bottle is tacky and clumsy? I don’t know! I rolled my eyes at Decadence- the tacky weird bottle design, the weird dumb title- but it was really good plummy loveliness, and it has lasted for a couple of years after buying the small bottle.
I would suggest getting the small $30 bottle! I think this would be a pretty scent for early fall, and it seems to last on pulse points.
I haven’t smelled that one yet, but I got my daughter a travel spray of the regular Perfect for her birthday. She got a sample from Sephora and whenever she wore it, I was always asking her what she was wearing because she smelled so good!
Hope your migraine is gone soon, Ede.
Perfect is a scent that is more “Oh gosh, you smell so good” than a Grand Perfume, and Perfect Intense is very much more of “You smell so good, let me hug you” type of fragrance.
I took some medicine, and I am just taking it slow. Thank you!
I hope you feel better soon.
So sorry you don’t feel well. Scents don’t bother you when you’re having migraines?
Another gorgeous late summer day in my neck of the woods, so to speak. I enjoyed the weekend commentary on transitional scents, but haven’t given any thought about them personally. I am just going to wear whatever moves me and wafts gently about me. Not wearing any perfume blockbusters yet.
Went grocery shopping today, only to discover that some things that had never been out earlier during the pandemic were missing from store shelves this time. ? Time to try another store, I guess.
SOTD = more Passage d’Enfer. I did see at least one NSTer refer to this as a transitional scent, so maybe partial credit for me as of late?
Ooh, what items. So far so good in my neck of the woods!
I use a particular laundry stain/pre treatment that was MIA. There was something else on my list that I didn’t see, but darned if I can remember what it was!
It must have been frustrating!
Gatorade is almost impossible to find in Raleigh right now.
Oh here too!
Wow, I wonder what supply issues are causing this? I have a bone to pick with Wegmans on Gatorade. It’s probably the only item that one has to purchase the number of bottles for the sLe price to trigger.
Gorgeous day here too.?
Enjoying it while I can! Rain is supposed to move in for most of the work week, ugh.
We are having weird things running out here too Jalapeño. Last week there was hardly any cheeses and yesterday the milk! We still have irregular bouts of toilet paper/tissue/kitchen paper towels shortages.
One excellent pandemic related overload is avocados! They are the cheapest they’ve been infers because no cafes are open, so no smashed avo toasts or BLATs. We are loving it.
Envious of your avocado surplus! The ones I got today are hard as rocks and will need a few days to soften up before they are edible. Not seeing ones from Cali or Mexico… today’s were Peruvian.
Cat food has been another thing that is erratic in supply. I’ve learned that when I see the stuff my cats like (and won’t make them throw up), I should get it while I can.
I noticed last week that my usual grocery store put up the limit 2 signs again. In the laundry isle and soup isle.
I’m starting to re-repanic.
Don’t panic! (Bonus points if you can figure out what book series that was from!)
No points for me. I had to look it up. I’m such a loser, lol.
Hardly a loser! Not everyone is into SF that talks about towels a lot. And bad alien poetry. ?
Low sodium chicken noodle soup was on sale and I still have many pandemic cans to go through …
You smell discreetly marvellous, I got Passage d’Enfer last quarter and like it very much too. Maybe a bottle in your future.
Yay for late summer days.
I’m in JHaG Not a Perfume. I know it’s Monday, but today is my Thursday and I am all kinds of discombobulated. I slept like @#$& last night. Literally tossed and tuned until close to 2, then up at 6. My brain just would not shut off. I think I am excited about my son coming home tomorrow.
Yay for seeing your son! I bet you’re gonna give him the BIGGEST hug.
Yes! I don’t care if I embarrass him right there in the airport. I told him I am really going to try my hardest not to burst into tears, but I’m not making any promises.?
Oh yay! I am excited for you!
Thanks lillyjo! I am excited for me too.??
I also slept terribly last night, but it wasn’t because of an exciting event. Give your son the biggest hug ever!
Aww, thanks sistine! I definitely will!?
Yay! Finally! Have a great time with your son!
Thanks hajusuuri! I know, it’s been over a year!?
I’ve got Bottega Parco Palladiano III (Pera) on one wrist and V (Lauro) on the other for comparison since they are both herb-focused.
The III is fresh herbs, including a sweet garden mint, blended with woody notes and a hint of pear skin (not really the pulp). The rose and musc add an underlying fullness and softness. This is sweeter and more floral than the V.
The V is fresh herbs with vetiver underneath. The laurel is the most prominent herb, followed by mint, and the herbs are present and rounding it out, but not individually identifiable to my nose. Like holding an herb bouquet outside on a crisp, dry morning. This is crisper and cooler than the III.
Drinking Fortnum & Mason’s Rwandan tea.
Ooooh, both those perfumes sound rather good!
I’ve been working my way through samples of BV’s PP line and I’ve been impressed with most of them. The names don’t always line up with expectations tho, so I have been surprised a couple of times (but pleasantly so)
Love your descriptions of the scents, they sound very lovely! Do you know if the line is getting discontinued? I’ve only tried II, the cypress one. And I really liked it.
I don’t think it is discontinued, just not carried in many places. Saks had it the last time I checked.
I found a bag of TF samples in my rummaging this weekend, so I’m in Mandarino Neroli di Amalfi Acqua la Portofino di Positano la Sole Forte today. They all seem nice, some are soapy, some are a little too aquatic, some are too sweet. It’s just too confusing, and they are pricey, so it’s a no from me. ??
More money saved! ?
Wearing Pacifico by Snif. I’m just grabbing things that I know won’t offend because I’m rushing out. I do really like this though – it just smells like a beach but without any sunscreen.
I’ve officially decided this is my last year of teaching. Now that I’ve made that mental step, I’m excited to figure out what I’ll do next.
Oh wow, that’s a big decision, sistine! Do you think this past year and half of the pandemic contributed to your decision? I’ve seen a few headlines about the shortage of teachers and about educators leaving the profession.
Good for you! Change is hard. I hope the process and end result is very fulfilling.
Dang, that is MOMENTOUS! Best wishes for the next step(s)! ??
Big Step, Sistine! Congrats on making the decision.
Today I’m in Blue Silk by Agent Provocateur.
Question; are boozy fragrances going to be a good CP link for Hemingway?
Uh, yeah! For sure.
Good call on the Hemingway!
Thanks Gail XX
Total slam dunk re: boozy perfumes & Hemingway!
I’ve just spent the last hour researching him. Sounds like the kind of hilarious, manly, douchebag you want as your friend. So many great cocktails associated with him.
I’ve actually been to Sun Valley, Idaho, where Hemingway had a house at once time. That, and the ski resort, are the town’s claims to fame. It’s definitely out in the sticks.
SIGH. …”at ONE time”. I’d ask where grammar check is, but it would be an even bigger PITA than spell check.
Sun Valley sounds like heaven
Just wanted to make sure you saw the CP is for Fitzgerald , not Hemingway. But I think boozy perfumes would work for Fitzgerald too!
It’s still hot here with highs in the 90s, so I’m wearing O! de Lancome for today. But we are promised a breath of fall and cooler days starting this Wednesday!
You smell great, Calypso!
I’m sampling Florentine Iris from Ermenegildo Zegna. I received a set of their samples when ordering something and was initially really turned off that these were so strongly labeled for men, why not unisex or not state the sex? But they are a mensware brand, so I should cut them some slack! Pun intended! Lol. But back to the Iris, I really do quite like it since I’m a huge fan of iris. It reminds me of Prada’s Infusion d’Iris but with more heft and a hint of ambroxan (that warm woody-ness).
I brought out my bottle of L’Heure Bleue edp today; my 1 spray smells like heaven right now. Summer-like temps have returned again during the day but it certainly cools off at night. Hoping this can last for a few more weeks since I’m not ready for fall yet. It’s finally a tolerable summer!
Fingers crossed for more warm weather for you. L’Heure Bleue is such a beautiful choice.
Thank you, Portia!
Definitely getting much cooler nights for me now. I poked my nose outside to have a quick look for the Harvest Moon, and got a healthy sniff of autumn while I did that.
Luckily I saw the moon last night; it was spectacular! Hope it’s the same tonight.
And a cool blast at night is great! Nice change.
Tonight’s moon looked like a huge Tahitian pearl to me. Gorgeous!
