Happy Bottle Porn Friday (edition 3)! Our community project for today: wear something you bought in part or in full because of the bottle, or a fragrance you think has a beautiful (or otherwise perfect) bottle. Thanks to michael and happy888cat, who suggested we repeat this project (we already did it in 2015 and 2017).
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Annick Goutal Mandragore, in the original purple gadroon bottle. I always thought that everything about the bottle — the color, the shape, the label hanging from a ribbon — was perfect for the scent, and I do appreciate the scent much more now than I did when I reviewed it in 2005. The men's packaging with the gold pattern on the bottle was even better, but I own the women's because that's what I found at discount. I do not love the newer Goutal packaging, not that it matters since they don't make Mandragore these days (other than Mandragore Pourpre).
Reminder: on 6/25, we're marking Anthony Bourdain's birthday. Wear a fragrance that you think of as adventurous, or interpret this project in any way you like.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Chihuly did a similar installation with glass flowers at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas. You can read more about both installations here.)
Most of my bottles are very simple. I have always liked my Kenzo bottles, but not in the mood for any of them today.
Wearing again Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise from the tear drop multicolored bottle, which I love.
Having 2 pieces of mango mochi ice cream, which I have become addicted to lately. So glad it is Friday already!
Have a great day, everyone! ?
I love mochi ice cream too!!
Isn’t good?
I love the Kenzo bottles!
Most of them are great. Unfortunately, I had to get rid of my empty bottles because I do not have enough space to keep them.
Kenzo does great bottles and mochi is so good.
Agree! 😀
I love the Kenzo Amour bottle, especially the image of the of them together looking like long necked birds.
I still have the original and most of the flankers. Those bottles look gorgeous together. I could not keep the few flankers that I finished due to lack of space.
Thumbs up for mango mochi ice cream and Kenzo bottles! I’ve always liked the Parfum d’ete bottle.
I like that bottle also. 🙂
Parfum d’Ete is a beautiful bottle. I also love the Kenzo Flower and its flankers bottles.
I think Beyond Paradise bottle is beautiful (and I like it more than Kenzo one because it seems more stable 🙂 ).
It is indeed more stable. I always keep all my perfumes inside the boxes, so I will never knock any down 😀
YUM for mango mochi ice cream! It’s been a while since I’ve indulged in some.
I already finished the box I bought a couple of days ago. I will buy more soon ?.
I think the greatest bottle ever designed, and there is an awful lot of competition, is for Montana Parfum de Peau, and I somehow have a miniature of the 1986 EDT which is in perfect condition, as fresh as the day it was made. (I had a full bottle once, bought at its launch, but that is another story.) I’m wearing a couple of drops of it, as incredible as the bottle: structured like an oriental chypre, fruit on top, honeyed oakmoss woven throughout from top to bottom, but it is *so animalic*. Leather, civet, castoreum, musk, the whole arsenal. I loved it at first sniff and still do, 35 years later.
The bottle was designed by the genius Serge Mansau, who also worked his bottle-porn magic on Givenchy Pi, Amarige, and Organza, Hermès Eau de Merveilles, Dolce Vita, Flower By Kenzo, and literally hundreds more. He’s one of the greats.
That bottle is a marvel. I definitely bought it mostly for that!
I also have a mini, packaged in a plastic cube. It is marvelous.
Very cool bottle and also sounds like a gorgeous scent. An Etsy seller sent me a free mini of Montana Parfum d’Elle, the scent of which did not agree with me. But the bottle must have had the same designer–it was like a clam shell reinterpreted by a Cubist!
I love glass in all forms from antique tiny beads to massive chandeliers, so I love bottles. I’m wearing Dali Black. A perfume bottle shape like Venus’s nose is the ultimate.
Dali is always a hoot, yes?
The Dalí bottles are pretty well always fantastic. Have you seen the one for Dalissime? It’s like the lips-and-nose bottle but stretched into a column, from a painting called “Christmas”. I can never decide if that one is my favourite or the original bottle.
You can see all the current ones here: https://www.parfums-salvadordali.com/en/perfumes-all/index.html
I love the Dali museum in St. Pete, FL. Have you been?
Yes and also the one in Figueres, near Barcelona.
Oh wow! That is on my list of places to visit in Spain! Someday…
I like Dali bottles! I have an empty bottle for Laguna and was considering a purchase of 2-3 more – just as decorations 🙂
Rusty will have fun with those! 😀
I am wearing Wisteria Hysteria, by CDG for Stephen Jones, because I love Wisteria perfumes, and this is one is good, although not the best I have ever smelled. The bottle is white glass, a lovely squat, swirly ribbed thing – I can’t really describe it, but if you google it you will see it in Fragrantica, and it is much prettier in the hand…I think they made another one in the same shape in black glass – haven’t seen that in person….
That bottle is very pretty! I just got a sample of WH and am looking forward to trying it, although I’m not sure if there are FB available anymore. Which wisteria perfumes have been your favorites?
The Dame Wisteria Soliflore is excellent – I really like it. The best Wisteria scent I ever had was a meditation oil I got at a head shop in the ’80’s – wisteria and ylang-ylang over top of lots of what I know now were probably sandalwood, nag champa and frankincense…
When my husband was my relatively new boyfriend (in 1986) I wore the original Oscar de la Renta EDT/EDP, but could never justify the expense of buying the pure perfume for myself (oh how times have changed!!). After a rather lucrative few weeks during which he worked a lot of overtime, he bought me a bottle (the bottle had a flower shaped stopper with a dewdrop lying in it – gorgeous & just perfect) as a gift & of course I was thrilled – I still have the bottle. I may have mentioned on here before he went into the department store knowing exactly what he was looking for, dressed in diving company coveralls, leather jacket & carrying his motorcycle helmet, only for a rather snooty sales lady to say to him “the pure perfume is very expensive, you know, are you sure that’s what you want?” He very politely assured her he knew exactly what he wanted & how much it cost…
Robin, I’m in complete agreement re the new AG packaging – I used to love when AG was only available here in the UK in Harrods, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols & Liberty & a few independent upmarket shops, & each had exactly the same display – fluted bottles in a semi-circle with their gold tops, ribbons & gold & cream labels – just glorious – & I still miss my Eau de Camille! Also loved the Chihuly pic – I’m a huge fan & when we visited friends in Seattle a few years ago we made a point of going to Chihuly Garden & Glass – out of this world.
Been a while since I commented here, so hope everyone is doing well in these still strange times we live in.
Nice to see you Carolyn! That was truly a lovely bottle, and your husband was a keeper, too, huh? ?
I fell in love with that scent in 1979, on an expedition to the mall to find a new fragrance, with a college housemate. I chose the Oscar, and he chose Polo, which I have adored ever since. (I had a mad crush on him.) One of the things I love about scent is that they have the power to recall a memory like nothing else!
Nice to see you too, AnnE. Chuckled at your comment re my husband – friends on both sides were surprised we got together in the first place as we must typify the expression ‘opposites attract’! We both had large vinyl album collections but the only duplicates were early Eagles, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours & Bat Out Of Hell! No books or sport in common either, but we have managed to watch a small number of films together over the years. Indeed re the Oscar bottle, & I think I discovered it in 1969 also, & one of my husband’s first slightly more upmarket ‘smellies’ I convinced him to try was Polo, funnily enough. So true what you said about scents brining up memories – it’s a precious thing.
What a coincidence! My DH and I are a similar couple. We had exactly two albums (well, CD’s) in common. ?
Thanks for sharing that story.
Your 2 CDs beats our half dozen vinyls, for sure! And of course I meant to type 1979, not 1969…!
Yeah, and if I had known that before we moved in together…… ?
I agree. I loved her elegant bottle design, especially the beautiful butterfly bottles. Her new design, not at all.
Absolutely!
I’m not sure I remember that bottle but I loved your story 🙂
Thank you.
Love your story, thank you for sharing it. 😀 Your husband is a darling man. Oscar parfum is one of the prettiest bottles ever. I have a mini parfum that I cherish along with my bottle of EdT. The swirly shapes are perfect.
My husband appreciated your compliment – thank you!
Lovely memories, how sweet of your husband! I have the Oscar extrait in that bottle too, it is very luxurious.
I think he was trying to impress me, & it obviously worked!
Hey Carolyn!
AG is an odd one, I thought the changes must be because Camille Goutal wanted them, but then she launched another brand (already forgotten the name, someone here must know) so then I wondered if it was the owners? But I am guessing, have not paid that much attention.
Bloomingdales used to have most of the collection here, but that’s ages ago now.
Hello Robin. Yes, I thought Camille Goutal had launched something new too, but I can’t remember the name either & can’t find any info online. I remember being in the US when Goutal launched there & the likes of Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus & Saks were doing a ‘buy one get one free’ (yes, really!) though the ‘get one free’ was from a limited selection – I was in seventh heaven, with Camille for me & Hadrien for a couple of friends!
It’s Voyages Imaginaires with Isabelle Doyen.
Ha, right.
https://nstperfume.com/2020/12/09/voyages-imaginaires-new-niche-brand/
Loved your story! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it, & thank you too.
Good to see you Carolyn! Thanks for that perfume story.
You too, Jalapeno & glad you enjoyed my tale – thank you.
In the remnants of Bee from last night. I have a decant, thanks to Hajusuuri and the last splitmeet, but I do think the bottle shape and art are very cool.
Later today I’ll put on Caswell Massey’s Elixir of Love, which I bought solely for the blue bottle. The frag is…..fine. I don’t have strong feelings about it one way or another. It’s a dressed up lavender. Pleasant, but not very interesting. I think it would make a really nice linen spray, but Mr. Vee has sensitive skin, so our linens stay unscented.
I contemplated thunking me Elie Saab Girl of Now sample for this CP, because I love that gorgeous bottle but the frag really does not work for me (despite my really wanting it to). I cannot bring myself to buy that one just for the bottle. It’s one thing if I theoretically might wear it (like with Elixir of Love), but I can’t justify the cost for one that I know I will never wear. So I just keep hoping a mini will show up on ebay.
I love cobalt blue bottles.
Maybe you could put the word out that you’d like an empty bottle…?
Good idea!
I like the Zoologist packaging. Even though, I usually don’t like any fragrance names or bottles that are deliberately ugly, or antisocial I find those those steam punk illustrations appealing, and the shape of the glass full size is lovely.
Waiting for some thunderstorms to start rolling in while wearing the tiniest bit of Eau Premiere in the original bottle. I think that the original Chanel bottles are pretty perfect. Tonight’s perfume will be De Profundis. I think that the bell jars are gorgeous too.
I agree – classic Chanel bottles and the SL bell jar are some of my faves. Even though the bell jar isn’t very practical.
No, they aren’t practical. Sometimes the plainest bottles are the most beautiful.
I agree with you on both bottles.
Ditto!
You smell great and I agree about those Chanel bottles.
Friday yay!!
SOTD is Rose Ta’if just because it felt right.
Beautiful picture, Robin.
You smell good!
Trust me, you can waste *hours* looking at images of art glass on flickr 😉
Wearing Pretty Machine from the lovely sky blue bottle (when each of the Kerosene scents had a different color bottle)
I never saw any of the Kerosenes in flesh and blood, much less owned any of them, but I remenber thinking that they DID look gorgeous when I saw the photographs. Fields of Rubus would probably be my favourite bottle-wise.
Oh, plus you do smell fantastic!!
Heatwave Day #3: Neroli Portofino, which I bought entirely for the fragrance though the bottle is quite pretty. Indoor temp hit 90 degrees yesterday evening and then a power outage took out my box fan. Slept with all the windows wide open and was repeatedly awakened by a cricket who just couldn’t find its groove — random bursts of irregularly-spaced chirps with long pauses interspersed. I’ve heard you can roughly calculate temperature from the tempo of cricket chirps, but when they go haywire I assume that means it’s simply “too hot.”
Nothing worse than an untalented cricket
I laughed!
:)))
Ha hahaha! Thought for the day!
???
???! ?!
Happy Friday! My SOTD is Halston vintage Extrait. The juice is old, and turning brown, but it still smells marvelous. Below is pictures of Halston and Halston Couture, two of my favorites.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CQRBzO9hihX/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
Such great bottles!!
Great bottles! Love your photo.
Exquisite!
Happy Friday! Wearing the beauty that is Sintra today and taking full points for the bottle!??
You smell wonderful!! Great choice!
That truly is one I almost bought for that gorgeous design!
I admit buying Sintra for the bottle. 😉
Come for the bottle…stay for the juice! 😉
Another week down…another week closer to summer!
I’m wearing Erik Kormann Eau de Fröhliche #2, which I bought partially for the bottle with the cat butt on it. 🙂
Later today I will probably move on to Amouage Gold, which I got a huge discount on because of the bottle (they changed their packaging so the old bottles were half price), and is a pretty if not amazingly creative bottle.
That’s all I’ve got on the bottle front. 🙂
It’s always a wonderful thing to find an Amouage for half off.
Well, ockeghem, I absolutely had to look that bottle up (thanks for the giggle), and then I had to find this pic, which I am hoping you will appreciate:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bossfight/comments/b6w4v5/paco_the_exclamation_butt/
Oh, that was a good giggle here! Love the exclamation butt!
He did lots of cool bottles, although we have only announced a few:
https://nstperfume.com/tag/erik-kormann/
Had to look up that perfume, b/c “cat butt”! OMG!
SOTD is Atelier Cologne California Clementine, from this limited edition bottle: https://nstperfume.com/2020/08/31/atelier-cologne-quentin-monge/
I also have AC Love Osmanthus in the Lunar New Year bottle: https://nstperfume.com/2020/12/16/the-daily-lemming-999/
But really my personal bottle porn collection is an entire shot glass cabinet full of vintage and not so vintage mini’s. Teeny tiny Chanels and Balmains and Guerlains and Estee Lauders and so on and so on. Mini’s are just SO fun.
Ohhh, I love seeing minis! Collecting them is super fun.
You smell great! I love minis too and treasure my mother’s tiny oval bottle of Diorissimo and the amazing fragrance still in it!
I would love to see that!
I really like that perfume and would have bought the limited edition bottle had I not previously got a bottle of it. You smell wonderful!
Oh wow the AC Lunar Year bottle deserves one million CP points in my book!!
I love mini’s, too, and have a small collection.
Summer fantasy, Nice. So I’m in the prettily-bottled Promenade des Anglais.
Did you finally buy a FB?
Yes! And it is almost half empty already. I gave some away, but also it wears more like a cologne so I apply it liberally. For today, I decanted some into a small spray vial for easy re-application. It is greener and earthier when I spray it on, counter intuitive to the packaging.
I went with Tocca Colette. It’s one of my favorite that I own, not particularly elaborate but very pretty and has a satisfying heft to it.
Tocca bottles are very cute indeed. I have a mini of Florence…
I love the Tocca bottles.
*favorite bottles.
Yes, I love those bottles too.
I think I’ll get double minus points. I am wearing a sample of MFK Aqua Vitae Cologne Forte. The bottle looks nice, though.
I had some social obligations, otherwise it would have been Angel Le Gout du Parfume or Liquor de Parfum. The bottles are stunning but the fragrance was not appropriate for today?
Lol at double minus points!
I will share some of mine ?
Sotd is Songes – thanks to Tiffanie for yesterday’s inspiration.
My very sweet cousin (we grew up like sisters) gave me this beautiful bottle along with the Hadrien and Mandragore butterfly bottles.
https://share.icloud.com/photos/0sL3_gmQcMVyujxDtfaZl1YvQ
That’s a stunning bottle, what a lovely gift from your cousin!
yes, stunning! thank you for sharing the photo 😀 and you smell marvelous.
And thanks to the dark color of the bottle, the juice is quite well preserved, though I’m embarrassed to say I’d almost forgotten there was any left. Maybe the jasmine has mellowed over time but I really enjoy it much better now than I did many years ago so I guess my fragrance neglect worked out 🙂
So gorgeous!! I’d forgotten those.
The bottle is stunning!
Awesome!
Wow! Gorgeous!
My best CP bottle is the Versace V’e Extrait Calamaio. It is the most “extra” bottle I own. I don’t have an Instagram, but here’s a good image of it that somebody else posted on Pinterest:
https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/41939840268791346/
There’s also a third outer box, which you can see in this ridiculously priced evilbay auction listing:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/VE-Versace-Pure-Perfume-Extrait-15ml-1-2-oz-Lucite-New-in-Box-Limited-Bottle-Ve-/372080131496?_ul=IL
The small inner bottle is a lovely crystal, and it rests in a clear, thick lucite, like some art deco sculpture. It’s over the top, and gorgeous.
Very nice!
How cool, had never seen that!
Wow! That is something else!
I was suckered in by Shanghai by Marc Rosen’s gorgeous bottle!
I bought the perfume version decades ago just for the bottle as I’m not a fan of the juice.
Clear crystal orb with blood red perfume, topped by a golden cap speared through with a clear rod. It’s stunning. Very Tang Dynasty in appearance.
I also love my vintage globe bottle of Worth Je Reviens. Not the blue disk bottle, although I have that too, but the round globe with embossed stars and a round stopper. Back when Je Reviens was good!
That really is gorgeous.
Lovely pic Robin, those glass ceiling installations are marvelous in person.
SotD is Berdoues Somei Yoshino, one of the few “fancy” bottles I own. I do have a lovely little glass decanter with a pewter dragonfly design overlaid on it in my collection, but that’s not an original bottle for any scent and contains the dregs of JM WS&SS my MIL gave me.
Has anyone tried the reformulated Zoologist Dragonfly or Macaque Yuzu yet? If so, thoughts (especially compared to the original)?
I have seen the Bellagio, but not the Tacoma Museum. Would like to!
Robin, If you come to Tacoma, the PNW NST contingent would welcome you with open fragrant arms!
I wish!! No west coast for me any time soon, I’m afraid.
I’d forgotten about the Bellagio installation! It’s been almost 10 years since I saw it.
Thanks to Robin I don’t have to ponder my choice: I am wearing a spritz of AG Nuit Etoilee in the gadroon bottle on one arm and Mandargore in the Dude (ga-dude?) bottle on the other. They live in my fridge for summer spritzing
I have a beautiful blue bottle of Nuit Etoilee, bought mostly for the bottle but I grew to love this perfume.
I envy your Dude bottle! And both of your arms smell great, of course.
Two gorgeous bottles!
Scent:
My choice for today is TDC Bergamote. Didn’t choose it for bottle porn purposes, although the bottle is just fine, and the screw-on cap is nice. Really just applied it because I haven’t worn it in ages.
Question:
Does anyone else hesitate to order perfumes once it gets hot out?
Kitten Update:
We’re at about 36 hours with the new little man in the house. (The shelter called him ‘Poot’, but we’re pondering other options – Gustave and Professor Pamplemousse are at the top of the list.) He’s 4 months old, gray tabby with white paws, loud purr. Our older, perfume-hating kitten, Gertie, isn’t thrilled with the little interloper. She’s a gorgeous torbie with a mixed-length coat, and evidently not the most stalwart of souls. So for now, Poot stays in my room, while Gertie retains control of the rest of the house. He’s going to need to be released from that room soon; it’s hard to expend kitten energy in a small space.
Poot sounds like a hoot!
Oh what fun, hope Poot will adjust quickly.
I usually don’t order perfume, skincare, food or supplements via mail from about mid-June to mid-September, unless the weather is unusually cool or rainy, but I do think I am extra picky!
Thanks for your response on summer ordering. I’ve essentially always done the same thing, and it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one! (even though I totally want to break my own rule right now)
I often want to break my rule!
It does make me do a real inventory of some items in early May, and try to be prepared, but of course that doesn’t help when you suddenly want a perfume.
Good luck with the new kitten; sometimes it takes awhile for that ‘getting along’ phase to kick in. Hope it’s soon!
I definitely think twice before getting either perfumes or certain cosmetics in the mail during the heat of summer.
Good luck with the kitten intro!
I love Professor Pamplemousse as a name! We also have a torbie, and I’m quite sure she would not take well to an interloper. Fortunately for her one of her owners has a cat allergy, so we can only have one short-haired cat at a time.
I’ve never bought a fragrance for the bottle, though I think the SL bell jars and the panther on Cartier’s are pretty. Today is too hot for either SL or Cartier, so I’m wearing Virgin Island Water in a very plain Creed tester bottle.
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine
The normal bottles (hah! I almost said BAU) are great the way they are but this one is the limited edition in deep blue with colorful whimsical illustrations!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CQQkUvThrZl/?utm_medium=copy_link
In other news, starting July, we’re now supposed to be in the office 1 week in, 3 weeks WFH. I’ll co-sign; however, I much prefer going in on Fridays and perhaps an occasional Thursday. I don’t think my boss will care because I am the only one in my function at this location. We had our 1:1 scheduled today but he cancelled it.
I may do some personal color-themed bottles project. We’ll see!
Wow, that’s a terrific bottle!
It’s good your boss won’t care too much about your WFH arrangement, going in all 5 days a week doesn’t sound ideal, even if you get to WFH for 3 weeks after. It sounds very unbalanced!
It doesn’t make sense, just like these companies who found WFH was just as productive who are demanding people come back to the office full time. I’m now permanent WFH, but looking for a new position. I’m surprised by how many aren’t offering WFH now. There is just no need in the positions I’m looking at to have to go to an office every day. I have turned down 2 so far. It’s old fashioned unless you’re 100% client facing.
Fabulous bottle and of course you smell fabulous too!
This bottle is spectacular!
Very cool bottle!
I love that bottle!?
Ugh, good luck with your RTO.
I like their 30 ml regular bottles: they are just perfect, even without any additional bells & whistles.
I’m not holding up well in the heat wave, when I feel more hydrated and awake, I will wear Shalimar Souffle in the gorgeous peacock bottle. This was a blind buy mostly for the bottle and I thought I’d love the fragrance too since…. Shalimar. Boy was I disappointed when I first tried it, it didn’t smell anything like Shalimar to me. At that point, the only flanker I’d tried was Shalimar Light/Legere. But a few months later, I tried Souffle in the summer heat and it bloomed beautifully on my skin. I now quite enjoy it, so blind buy for pretty bottle worked out in the end!
I had the exact same experience with Souffle. I jumped at the chance to have that peacock bottle when I saw it for a great price. I agree that it smells different and better in the heat. It’s funny though that some people have actually said it smells like the original Shalimar. I don’t get that at all.
In Memo Winter Palace today. I absolutely adore Memo’s bottle design and it’s dragon/clouds art.
Lately I have been drinking a lot of sparkling water, since I don’t like plain water and prefer my club soda over any other cold beverages!! And I have been drinking it with lot’s of fresh lime.
Spritzing Winter Palace on brought a pungent lime smell to my nostrils and now I can’t even tell if it’s because of squeezing fresh limes so much or because Memo put a yummy lime in Winter Palace!! Anyway since I am on a lime kick – I’m loving it!!
That is a lovely bottle!
Obsessed with Winter Palace. You smell amazing ?
Yes, I got excited over it the second I saw it announced on NST. My love for Winter Palace got expressed when my father was replacing a wall AC unit in our house a few months ago. The wall got damaged in the process but since I’m a pretty good dry-waller I fixed it myself (here in South FL most of the homes are made of… Drywall!!) But to cover up the drywall mudd smudges he had me paint a patch (we weren’t able to match the wall paint perfectly) and paint some decorations on it. What did I do? I copied the dragon and clouds from Winter Palace perfume bottle and painted that on the wall. I also painted a teacup underneath as if the dragon was coming out of the steam coming from the tea cup… Looks really nice!!
That is dedication!!!
I add lime and home-grown mint to my ice water. It’s so refreshing.
Love those glass jellies!
I went with 24, Faubourg for the CP. I think there have been several special-edition bottles for this, with various different etched designs, but I think my “standard” bottle with its little curliecues is just as lovely as any of them. Happy Friday, everyone!
24, Faubourg has one of the best perfume to bottle matches that I can think of. They complement each other so well.
I like simple bottles. It’s another Sylvaine delacourte in the round bottle with the heavy brushed metal cap. Oscarine. Orange blossom with raspberry and pine. I like raspberry, smells perfumy to me. I guess I like that brand. I have 2 one Oz and 2 7.5 Oz.
PdE Corsica Furiosa. Happy Friday!!
Oh, I may have to transition to this one this afternoon. You smell great!
Wearing L’Artisan’s Premier Figuer Extreme from a limited edition fig bottle.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CQROlh4jx-r/?utm_medium=share_sheet
I think perfume is slightly off, but I’m not too upset because I bought it mostly for the bottle – and it’s still gorgeous.
For a while I tried to track the second limited edition – a blackberry bottle of Mure et Musc Extreme, but no success. There should be somewhere a secondary market just for bottles – any suggestions?
It’s a heatwave in the SF Bay Area (yesterday it was 97F/36C), so I’m glad I have an A/C: not for me, for my perfumes.
Happy Friday to everyone!
But of course that fig (and the mure) bottle was one of the most gorgeous ever released!! I used to own both extremes but in plain bottles…
You smell beautiful!!
That is one fabulous bottle!
That bottle! That kitty!
Wow, that bottle is amazing! And Rusty is his usual adorable and photogenic self.
Oh, wow, I love that deep green with the silver leaves!
I’m wearing a drop from my bottle of Niki de Saint Phalle parfum, the cube cobalt bottle with the gold trim and the snakes dancing on top, what a bottle!! Here it is on Artnet:
http://www.artnet.com/artists/niki-de-saint-phalle/the-first-edition-perfume-bottle-J2lamuneoj-vGV1dLLb8wA2
I’ve always loved that bottle 🙂
I wore Teo Cabanel Lace Garden for the past two days for the CP, and I’ll wear it again today after I shower. I think that bottle is so pretty–I love the copper color and the floral design with the scrolls and honeycomb-like background. I have the squat 50ml bottle (I always buy the smaller size when it’s available since it takes me forever to go through scents. I’ve never thunked a bottle, but I’m trying!)
I have a long drive ahead of me, but I am officially on vacation now! I have one work thing I have to do for an hour tomorrow but then I’m free. I still have so much to do around the apartment before I can leave though. I hate this part.
Have fun in Minnesota, we love the Twin Cities area. We were supposed to be there camping this weekend heading up to Leinie’s in Eau Claire for their annual fest but had too much going on this week.
Enjoy your vacation, and safe travels!
Safe travels! Chicago to Minnesota? You will drive right by!?
I did actually by a bottle of Issey Miyake Pleats Please and the bottle is a lot of fun. Didn’t care much for the perfume, though.
I was tempted by that one!
Wearing the wonderfully exotic Manoumalia, bottle isn’t great but the scent most certainly is. I’m not that into bottles but I have a very soft spot for bottles with tassels, and few houses do better tassels than Oriza L Legrand. But as it is hot I wanted a tropical fragrance and this one is tropical at its most complete. I hope everyone will have a great weekend!
Oh I have smelled that! You smell FAB!
Did you ever read March from the Posse’s take on it?http://perfumeposse.com/2010/07/13/lesnez-manoumalia/
Oriza L. Legrand does have magnificent tassels.
I planned to wear Habanita because I love the perfume and the bottle but it’s just too hot so my sotd is En Voyage Go Ask Alice. The way the bitter green cuts through humidity is amazing.
…and now I have an earworm.?
As do I! ?
Happy Friday!
1) SOTD: Molinard’s Jasmin. It’s from quite a few years back, when it was sold in a rather striking indigo/purple glass bottle. It’s a gorgeous, rather sexy jasmine with a touch of rose & greenery; like TF’s Jasmin Rouge at a fraction of the price!
2) Finally after a couple of days, removed the island and sink plumbing and somehow did not flood my house. The issue: There are no plumbers available on short term call, so the choice was wait a week to deconstruct the plumbing….or hold my breath, get out my Plumbing ! 2 3 book from Home Depot and get to business.
Once I turned off the water and unscrewed the clamps from the island, I was then able to take apart the drainage outlet piping and cap those lines. I then disengaged the line from the dishwasher. Move the dishwasher, remove the sink and VOILA: a shell that I could then easily take apart and haul out. I used cardboard as padding on the floors to move things. The laminate I have doesn’t scratch easily, but it was there just in case.
Once took apart the island, I saw that the previous owner more or less masked some really bad leaks and a bad patch job under the sink. I had previous did a patch job on a portion of the kitchen water line that supplied the refrigerator; but this damage went all the way to the subfloor. This afternoon I will repair this portion of the subfloor (which will mean taking out some of the flooring I put in last year) then build it back up to be level for installation of the island cabinets. Oy vey! I will also begin the process of oiling and curing the countertops.
3) However! I will be taking a break to go to either Hood River or the beach tomorrow!
You are very brave!
I am 1) very low budget and 2) there is literally too few plumbers and too much work! 🙂
Ede, you are amazing!
Oh shucks. I am doing my best!
SotD = Fendi Theorema, from a mini bottle
Truly bought this one for the bottle, it is so cute. A blind buy, though I knew it was a safe bet. So much love for Theorema is shared here and elsewhere.
Thank you to the dear NSTers who commented on my Songes moon and stars bottle yesterday. It is one of my favorites of all time. I posted late replies to all of you today. 😉
Other bottles I bought unsniffed for the bottle,
then loved the perfume inside —
Insolence EdT in the swirly bottle
L’Heure Bleue EdT and EdP are perfect perfume bottles
Barbara Bui Le Parfum in the minimalist rectangle
Ostara for the name and the prettiest bowtie
Library of Flowers Moon Shadow, like something from an old apothecary
Bottles I ADORE and bought for the beloved perfume —
Eau des Merveilles 😀
Hiris in the blue bottle
Terracotta
Cologne du 68
Osacar de la Renta EdT in the tall bottle
Perfume bottles NSTers shared with me that make me so happy —
Tocade, the craziest happiest bottle in my perfume cupboard
Baise Vole in the flip top bottle
Osmanthe Yunnan in the luxe Hermes presentation
Nirvana French Grey in the ultra cool flat bottle, love to hold it
And I’m a Guerlain girl at heart, so I have a silly number of bee bottles, many bought unsniffed. I love them all, especially the crystal stoppered bee bottle of Mon Precieux Nectar I bought empty (yes, empty!) because I will never be able to afford a full bottle, though I love my decants.
Every bottles makes me smile. I guess I’m in an exuberant oversharing mood today. 🙂
Have a fun and fragrant Friday, dear NST friends. bisous! xoxo
Loved your post and your bottle-sharing!?
thank you, Laila
perfume is such a happy thing,
it’s perfect for sharing 😀
Terracotta was a choice for me today.
go, team Terracotta! 😀 I’m a fan forever.
Terracotta is such a gorgeous bottle.
must agree, I’ve had friends see Terracotta and admire the color, shape, and cap!
I agree, that mini is super cute (and delicious smelling).
I really with they would bring Theorema back. Even if the perfume were not as wonderful, I’d be very tempted to buy it for the bottle!
I was going to wear Halston today but it’s going to get too hot for that one. Love that bottle design.
Instead I will reach for Chanel Paris-Riviera after my shower; love the simplicity of these bottles.
That Halston bottle was one of the best designs!
I thought about Halston — I have a mini of it, but same bottle design. It is a nice bottle.
I’m wearing Lancome Oud Bouquet today. A half of a spray, since it’s very hot here. I totally bought this for the bottle and the good deal. I have the first version, the one with the rose mosaic. I had some other contenders, but went with this because I hadn’t worn it in awhile.
It’s been so hot everywhere I think!
I think you are right!
Not stinking hot here yet (hajusuuri might disagree with my assessment), but it will be very soon. The dreaded summer humidity is making its comeback.
Do you like the Oud Bouquet?
I should have said it’s humid, because I think the temp was only 82.
Oud Bouquet is very sweet on me. I do like it, but can only take a little bit at a time.
Sounds like it would be a lovely winter perfume. But you don’t want to hear about that!
Lol! Not yet!
I’m wearing Les Brumes from Ormaie. I consider the bottle to be very artistic.
I haven’t seen it in real life but on pictures it looks very nice (and other bottles from the brand are also interesting).
I love the Ormaie bottles and caps.
While I was working in cosmetics and fragrance, a poster came out for the upcoming Giorgio of Beverly Hills Ocean Dream. I was enchanted by the bottles brushed by the sea, a pearl wired to their necks. They came in three shapes and colours: pastel blue, pink, and green. And, importantly, there was even a pure perfume!!! Since marines are my category, I hoped I would love the juice. I did! Too bad it’s gone. I have two of the bottles glued into a picture frame around a custom-made mirror.
When I saw the bottle for Lolita Lempicka L, I hoped I would love the juice as much as the bottle. The blue drop of water glass bottle had three charms: an “L” lined with tiny pearls, a spring of white coral, and a flower to adorn the top of it. There’s was a starfish bas relief in the glass. The juice was nowhere near oceanic and I really didn’t like it or its flanker’s but the bottles were fabulous!
I confess to absolutely loving that Lolita Lempicka bottle, too. So pretty.
The “Lolita L” I wrote about was actually the flanker in frosted glass. The original bottle was clear blue with gold netting on the collar and a drop of water charm instead of the coral.
Being firmly of the “the proof of the pudding – erm scent – is in the smelling”-persuasion, I haven’t ever bought a scent for its bottle and don’t suppose I will either. That said, the two bottles I like the most aesthetically are CdG’s 2 (dead impractical, of course, but so great visually!) and Acqua di Parma’s classic Colonia, of which, due to the heat, the latter won the day.
You smell super good today and that is a great bottle.
I was in Weil Suki essence during the day, the yellow bottle doesn’t match this sweet incense scent but this evening I switched to Molto Missoni, a cinnamon amber in a blue green ombre bottle with a red swirly cap.
Does the MIssoni scent and bottle match?
I’d say yes, it really is my favorite bottle and the perfume is resinous and warm with the cinnamon.
I definitely buy for the perfume, but a nice bottle is a bonus. To the extent I have preferences, it’s for simple and plain, or something that I would think of as vintage. I love the bottles from Vero Profumo, I’m very lucky to have FBs of Rubj and Mito EdP. On the other hand, I do have a bottle of Fragonard’s Billet Doux, which is a fabulously frivolous little gold thing.
However, the plan post-shower is to dab a couple of samples. I will check out the bottles before I decide which samples 🙂
Robin, I agree with you about the Mandragore bottle, I have the same one. I was almost going to choose her La Violette for similar reasons and its soft purple tulle bow.
The most important factor in my choice of scent is the fragrance itself – but the whole package must appeal to me as well, and that includes the name and the bottle as well. I’m sure many will disagree with my choice for today’s cp, as I’ve seen many complaints and frustrations in the past about the bottle design, but I absolutely love ❤️ this one: Bvlgari Omnia Coral. One of my favorite summer scents, I love its unusual pomegranate/goji berries/hibiscus combo; the bottle fits nicely in my hand and sprays well; and coral is my favorite summer color (wearing it today!). The original Omnia is a fall favorite of mine.
Wow, what an incredibly fun week for me, haven’t had one like this since the summer of 2019. Reunited with my favorite park district pool, I very nearly cried with joy at my first visit since 2019. Went to another Sox game on a picture perfect day and the game was fantastic! This morning we went to a special event at the country club celebrating our historical society’s 50th anniversary – as a longtime board member it was wonderful to see friends I hadn’t seen in more than a year, and the brunch was superb! And tomorrow we will be celebrating my grandtwins’ graduation from 8th grade. After all this time practically hibernating except for grocery shopping, so much activity – and seeing real people again! – is almost overwhelming yet a welcome relief from the anxiety I’ve felt for so long. Whew! Finally!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead and Happy Father’s Day!
I liked the Omnia Coral enough to spring for the cute travel spray.
Whew! Finally! I know the feeling. That does sound like a great week, and congrats to your grand twins graduation! The end of 8th grade is a milestone for sure!
It’s hot in California so I’m wearing Voyage d’Hermes from a decant (though that one certainly has an… interesting? bottle… a bit masc for me…). I plan to refresh later today with Eau Sauvage. I love the classic weirdness of its bottle, and it’s special for not having been “updated” after so many years. Good choice, I say–there must be someone at Dior who keeps that flame alive.
Smelling great all day today!
Zoologist Chameleon for me today. I’m generally obsessed with the Zoologist bottles anyway but the iridescent Chameleon one is especially fetching!
I agree–I have that one too!
The label art is fantastic!
SotD has been McQueen parfum. I fell head over heels for this bottle, and bought it even though a BWF isn’t really me. But it makes a nice change!

I love McQueen! That bottle too! I wish the discounted regular bottles were that pretty.
OMG, I bought that too, and I truly AM a BWF gal. It was just pure instant love, and I simply gulped and laid down my credit card.
SOTD = Cartier Le Baiser du Dragon EdP. The bottle is a big part of why I blind bought this one. But today, I smell like an almond croissant with a whiff of incense and vetiver wafting in the air. I think my perfume has gotten better smelling as it has sat in the bottle!
That sounds really good. I love almond.
I would say sample first. This one is not a safe blind buy by any means.
I’m going to sample this again. I want to smell like you!
Thanks for the perfume compliment!
That combination sounds magical!
I honestly don’t remember the perfume smelling like this. Not sure what happened. ?
My most porn worthy bottle would probably be Casmir, but it’s way too hot for that today so I’m in the temperature appropriate VCA Neroli Amara.
TGIF! What a week. Super busy at work and I’m looking forward to the weekend off.?
Casmir does have a pr0n worthy bottle, especially the 30mL version!
I remember seeing that bottle for the first time.. gorgeous!
I was looking for a bottle to show off (Hanae Mori Magical Moon) but couldn’t find it. (Look it up–it’s cobalt and intricate.) So instead I selected Un Jardin Sur Le Toit by Hermes. It’s a perfect scent for hot weather–I sprayed on a lot (well, maybe not 8 but 5) and it’s still tart and bracing after many hours. It’s bottle porn because it’s elegant and understated–very Hermes!–and is the most beautiful delicate green shade, with a pretty glass top.

I’m not wearing it right now but one of my favorite bottles is my Chanel No. 5 L’eau: I have the white twist and spray bottle. I think it’s gorgeous and I like the twist and spray mechanism.

Another favorite is my bottle of Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche – it’s simple, but a pretty gold-ish/platinum-ish color and the spray nozzle is the best one I have. Such a fine mist and just the right amount.

Funny that they are both Chanel as I am not really a huge Chanel fan.
Plus, Allure Homme Edition Blanche smells so nice 🙂
Wearing Mugler Alien Fusion, which I bought blind, because I really love the bottle. (It helped that I’ve liked all the Alien flankers that I’ve tried.) The perfume itself might not have made my buy list on its own, but I do like it, and have worn it (but not gotten around to posting about it) half a dozen times already, most recently for the “I really shouldn’t have” CP.
An enabler pin goes to Robin, because the little bottle cost twice my blind buy limit, and I bought it immediately after she announced the last Swapmeet, on the grounds that if I really hated it, I could swap it away. Thank you, Robin, for continuing to host the various meets—they have given me something to look forward to in the last year-and-a-half, and I am very grateful to you and the truly lovely people I’ve interacted with here over the years.
And because I have a tendency to fall asleep before I can actually post, I will go off-topic instead of waiting for another day and recommend—highly—an Eau de Parfum I found, unboxed but in an opaque bottle, for $6.99 at Burlington Coat Factory last week: Aubusson Private Collection Lush Neroli. Definitely not a soliflore, but if you like fig and cedar as well as neroli, you should try to find a bottle. It reminds me a lot of Hermes Un Jardin en Mediterranee, but with more cedar, and more staying power. I had just been looking up UJdM at the discounters, and lamenting its priciness. It also reminded me of MFK APOM Pour Homme, but with fig, although it’s been a few years since I’ve smelled that one. They had the Aubusson PC rose one, too, but the notes listed on Fragrantica didn’t sound like my cup of tea.
Happy Summer (or Winter) Solstice, everyone, and may the rest of this year be wonderful for us all!
🙂
Fig, cedar and neroli sounds good to me!
