It’s Tuesday, Frank Lloyd Wright’s birthday and World Oceans Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Maria Candida Gentile Lady Day....which I suppose is only a partial point, since it does have gardenia but is neither tropical nor beachy. Tea at the moment is Kusmi Anastasia.
Reminder: on 6/11, for King Kamehameha I Day, wear a tropical or beachy floral. Bonus points if your fragrance includes at least one floral or fruit note native to Hawaii. (Native in modern times, that is, given that many of the flowers and fruits we associate with Hawaii were brought from elsewhere.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Wedgwood Hibiscus Teapot ("Accented by 22-karat gold, the Wedgwood Hibiscus teapot features a delicate botanical pattern in a lush blue hue.") is $255 at Macy's.
Good morning nsters
Yesterday was a hot mess no power for almost 10 hours
No Coffeeeeeeeeeeee
No internet for work
This morning much better
My bottle of Bukhara arrived last night and is ready for action today!
Glad this morning is better and you can’t go wrong with Bukhara!
Glad today is better!
Holy horrible! No coffee!?#$^*&!
Nothing makes you appreciate electricity like losing power, right? Glad you have it back.
No power?!? I hope it wasn’t in the 90’s like it was here. ?
Glad you have it back!
Off to look up Bukhara….
No coffee! Perish the thought!
Wow, 10 hours. You were forced to unplug for sure. Pun intended! But no coffee…. yuck!
Enjoy Bukhara!
When we lost power during Hurricane Sandy, I was very proud of myself for remembering that I had a french press pot that I could use to make coffee without electricity (our gas stove was still working). Until I realized that I had only whole beans, no grinds, and my grinder was (of course) electric. I spent a good half hour each morning grinding those beans by hand with a mortar and pestle. 🙂
I salute you!
That’s dedication. ☕
That’s the spirit!
Oh what a mess! I am so glad you are doing better today!
No coffee?! You are stronger than I.
It was rough going. I literally cannot think without coffee and a hot shower. I will walk around in a circle not knowing what to do. After 40 years in California, for the first time I have an electric stove.
Bukhara is lovely!!
It does not smell anything like visiting Bukhara did, but that’s okay.
I am about 6 hours into wearing it and the iris note is lovely. I don’t have a of iris and was afraid the caraway and clove would overwhelm. Instead it is fresh, yet warming and mmm a touch of pear and and not sweet or powdery. I am very glad I bought it.
Yikes! Glad it’s fixed now.
Glad that you had coffee and a hot shower this morning.
Perfume to the rescue! Glad today is better…no power is no fun.
Oh no! I’ll add to the coffee desperation stories by telling how, during our three-day power outage in the “Big Freeze” in Houston this February, I used instant espresso coffee and shook it up really well in a covered cup with some cold water, and then added in a lot of cream which I was keeping cool on the porch outside. It was a decent facsimile of iced coffee but only if you were desperate, which I was. And hot coffee was just not an option.
That is funny / not funny!
I’m not getting points today. I tried Terracotta, and couldn’t take the sweetness. I’m wearing Niki de Saint Phalle.
Oh, but Niki de St. Phalle is fantastic! I think I’ll join you..
Niki is EXCELLENT! You smell great!
Wearing MCMC Mociun #2 thanks to Tulipani. Reminds me a bit of CB Black March, but with evergreen. If Black March is the end of winter/beginning of spring, then this is bleak mid-winter, frosty wind and all.
Insomnia got me last night, so I’m operating on about 30 minutes sleep today. Drinking Clipper Ship’s Halmari Assam now, but my next pot will be a Pu’er for the caffeine.
Robin – today’s tea pot is stunning!
Oh no, hope you get some good sleep later!
That fragrance sounds lovely! Off to look up another one…. Sheesh, where have I been? I’m off my game.
Wow, only 30 minutes of sleep! Hopefully you can sneak in a nap today, if needed.
It’s nice to read your take on Mociun #2!
Yuck, insomnia is the worst. And only 30 minutes of sleep fits right in with that. Double yuck.
Hope you get great rest tonight.
Terracotta today, because it’s on my dresser and easy to grab.
Iced coffee this morning instead of hot coffee. I’ll need something to stay cool. Turns out our AC wasn’t fully installed. The unit needs to be raised up off the ground before they can hook up the compressor, which is what actually cools the air. I’m mostly irritated by the lack of follow through and communication on these things. We hope to have it working tomorrow. The fan works, but there’s no real cooling…. Between that and the ceiling fan issues, it’ll be warm in our living room later today. Our cat will be happy, though. Can’t get warm enough for her….
Oh, that really is irritating but I’m glad that’s all it was!
Grr, how frustrating!
Argh, what a PITA!
That’s awful! I know how cats are. My cats love to sit outside on the porch and soak up the sun. Even the cats with black fur will do this, when it is almost too hot to touch them, literally!
Wearing Bond No.9 Fire Island for the CP, perfect for another exhausting super hot day in the 90’s.
I am outside at one of the sites the whole day today. I will pretend I am at the beach ⛱ getting a nice tan and sipping a cocktail ?, instead of the plain water that it is keeping me very well hydrated. I will survive!
Have happy and safe Tuesday, everyone! ?
Ohh, I love Bond No. 9 Fire Island! I’m from Long Island, we used to go to Shelter Island and Fire Island all the time!
I think a refreshing cocktail would be an English Mule (2 oz fresh lime juice, 2 oz Gin, four ounces of spicy ginger beer, add a twist of lime).
I have not been in Fire Island in years. I should plan to spend sometime there next year. I love it!
You are tempting to make an English Mule when I get home. So much needed!!!
Definitely enjoy a cocktail on me! 😀
Good morning all! Today is my son’s last day of kindergarten — I’m so proud of this little guy and all he’s learned in spite of the school year chaos. Bit of a whirlwind today: school drop-off and then a co-parenting meeting with my ex that I’ve not especially been looking forward to, then a day in the field with a forester and a documentary filmmaker, of all things. Going for luscious glamour points in Bronze Goddess and hoping my hair looks alright for the camera…
Good luck with both meetings!
Oh, and when I’m done being a movie star, I have to rush home and pack for a camping trip with my little graduate. Thank goodness for coffee!
your little graduate. that is so sweet.
Enjoy your camping trip! ?
Last day of Kinder is a great time. Enjoy the sweetness!
What a great milestone! Congrats to your son.
Yay for your son!
Happy Birthday FLW. Lots of his amazing architecture here in Madison.
I’m in Olivine Atelier Full Regalia perfume oil, which is mostly vanilla but does have just a bit of jasmine. I add a few drops to my lotion when I get out of the shower and I can smell it all day.
I see vanilla and I like it! 😉
I went to a conference once in Milwaukee where there was an optional tour of FLW homes there, and they were fabulous! Some big places that were on Lake Michigan and then a small area of “workmen’s homes” that were so interesting to see–little nice details on small, quite modest little houses.
Happy Tropical Tuesday!
In Gallivant Los Angeles for the marine tropical aspect. It’s not my favorite of the line but it gets me some CP points 🙂
Points for you allo!
Happy Tropical Tuesday! Many thanks for the birthday wishes everyone, you are all so kind. 🙂 I overindulged a bit but boy was it worth it! Link to my IG with food pics are below.
My SOTD is Tiare Lei layered with Pikake, both by Terra Nova. Tropical flowers, vanilla orchid, coconut. I am wafting loads today. I’ll smell great at the gym!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CPyWTi3h8sD/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
Happy belated birthday! Don’t think you can overindulge on your natal day. 😉
Beautiful teapot, Robin!
Today I can only think of whiney things, so I’m again wafting enormous clouds of Shalimar and listening to music to distract myself. ZZ Top just did a version of the old Tennessee Ernie Ford song Sixteen Tons that features Jeff Beck, it’s really good played LOUD.
Oh I am so going to look up that song when I am out of work!
It’s on Spotify 🙂
Yep. Gonna put on my Cheap Sunglasses and look that one up! 🙂
Keiko Mecheri Un Jour d’Ete for a different kind of beachy. Work is already crazy.
Ack, I cannot remember that one at all! Brain is going.
Hellooooo my smellies!
It is beautiful outside and all I want to do is hang out in the garden and stare into the middle distance. But needs must, and deadlines for work loom.
Had a great vacay in RI collecting my son from college and seeing old friends. I brought my decant of Dior Terra Bella and got loads of compliments. But it is one those that is only sold by the gallon (slight exaggeration) for a mint. So once it is gone, it will be gone.
This morning I am full on Cali girl in Rainbow Bar.
Channeling Attenborough with a video from our front yard: https://www.instagram.com/p/CP3PsjMhCJd/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
Sounds like Terra Bella would be a great candidate for a split…
You smell amazing. Love Rainbow Bar!
Anything over 50 ml is a gallon.
Exactly! And the smallest bottle you can buy is 8.5 oz, or over 250 mls. Literally 🙂 gallons!
8.5 ounces?!? That is freaking nuts!
So beautiful!?
Love the teapot!
Wearing Zara Fleur d’Oranger today (a lovely orange blossom with considerable oomph so far) which is part of the Jo Malone collaboration she did for the Zara Emotions line the end of last year. First it was UK only (with some price gouging on evilBay) but now it’s in the US! I ordered on Sunday and it shipped from a store in CA and I got it yesterday/the next day. 🙂
I blind bought this one, Fleur de Patchouli (had been eyeing that one already) and Rose Marshmallow Candy (actually part of another line) based on a Best of New/Cheap for 2021 article by Fragrantica editors. No affiliation…I love their “best of” articles.
Might hunt down Korres Midnight Dahlia next…do weigh in if you’ve tried these please.
https://www.fragrantica.com/news/Best-in-Show-Good-New-Affordable-2021–15142.html
Great article! How is the Rose Candy scent?
Haven’t tried it yet but will probably break into it later this week!
Yes, I’m also curious for your take on the Rose Candy. It sounds overly sweet (and marketing it to the 14 and under crowd does nothing to dispel that impression) but the fragrantica article piqued my interest too.
Haven’t tried it yet but will probably break into it later this week!
I am older than 14 but still crave sweet!!!? Much more so in fragrance than in food too actually…I am more savory for food.
Ooooooh, what’s the Fleur de Patchouli like?
Haven’t tried it yet but will probably break into it later this week!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it then!
Thanks for the article. I might give that KKW Olive another sniff.
Those sound good, look forward to reading your thoughts!
Another brutishly hot one out there, but we’re in the air-conditioned hotel for the last day so I can wear my last couple of drops of the brutishly masculine Yatagan, a gorgeous, discordant jumble of sap and wood and greenery and oakmoss. It’s how you would expect a lumberjack to smell.
Oh, dear. You may have just created a lemming.
You’ve not created a lemming for me but a bizarre fantasy of a great-smelling brutish fellow happening upon my room in a nice hotel….
You smell great pyramus!
Robin, before I forget.. I saw a decorative sign that says Crazy Plant Lady! Lol!
I’m back in No.19. Still doing inventory.
Good luck with the inventory, you smell cool and collected.
Good thing since I don’t look cool at all. It’s so muggy here.
What an awesome sign to come across!
I remembered Robin questioning if that was a thing, and looks like it is! Lol.
How’s the inventory going? Saw your Friday CP choice. ?
Inventory is officially done. Hoping the numbers come out ok.
Oh how funny!!! Figures it has to be a thing.
Feelin’ FA BU LO US wearing my Tuberoza. I know I have been raving about Tuberoza so much. When I’m not wearing it – I miss it. I think about it and imagine it in my head. When I am wearing it – I have an urge to drink it because it is just such a beautiful floral and so deliciously sweet!!
Aw!
That teapot is gorgeous !!
I am wearing Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Eau Fraiche. Boy, that’s a long name for a perfume 🙂
Yes it is! And you are reminding me I have not worn my Black Perfecto (which at least can function with the 2 word nickname) in ages.
Still in Pleasures but was thinking of Tobacco Vanille. It’s too humid here for Tobacco Vanille. Last night, we had to turn on the air conditioning to have any shot at sleeping.
Have not turned off the a/c for days now…
Wearing Saturday for the passionfruit, which is also not native to Hawaii, but got there in the 1800s. Lilikoi for the win. I htink this might be slightly better at 80 degrees, rather than the current 90 degrees, but still pretty good.
It was and is still hot right now. I will not even attempt a walk! Plus there’s precipitation.
CP is tough for me this week because I’m not a huge fan of tropical florals. I’m wearing Fragrance du Bois Santal Complet which might be the closest I get. It’s coconut, vanilla, sandalwood, with hints of violet and musk. I reaaallly like it, and I seldom like coconut. But it’s absurdly expensive and I’m not really into the vibe of the company. So I’ll just treasure my sample until it’s gone.
My son is graduating from elementary school this week. It’s definitely put me in a nostalgic mood! Not sure I’m ready for middle school drama. ??
Congratulations to your son.
Can one ever be ready for middle school drama?!
Oh, but your SOTD sounds WONDERFUL!
*looks up price* WHOOOF.
Congrats to your son!
Congrats! And fingers crossed for minimal future drama.
Nobody is ready for middle school drama.
Congrats to you and your son!
Congratulations to your son!
Yay for your son! I am leery of middle school too.?
SOTD is Dusita Fleur de Lalita. Really gorgeous floral bouquet. Also getting half-points for some tropical flowers even though there’s no beach vibe. Enjoying my perfectly reasonable temperatures.
And I am jealous of your perfectly reasonable temperatures!
ninfeo mio
I like everything about this but the name…
Coffee is Rose Himalaya by Mariage Freres
Book update: I just finished Consent a gripping memoir and now onto How to Change your Mind
Book poll coming up next month! I just finished William Boyd Trio and am working on the new Elly Griffiths, which is called Postscript Murder or something like that.
Tuesday!
1) Took a shower in Waikiki shower cream from Bath & Bodyworks- fantastic! Very uplifting! And SOTD is Petals Heliotrope & Ambrette from Beauty Pie- a very pretty skin scent that has a sorta tropical flare from Frank Voelkl.
2) Speaking of which, there are a couple of new fragrances from Zara that Frank Voelkl has done- have you tried them? They seem affordable and tempting?
Saw your note yesterday regarding the d-ck pic and oh lordie! Reminds me of ihadanidea’s story about someone whom she met online who decided to send her a full frontal and asked her what she thought. ?
JUST…
YIKES. YIKES. YIKES! 🙁
It’s so, so bizarre and a great way to tell complete strangers “Hey, I’m creepy and don’t respect any boundaries!”
I’m also late to chime in about the madness. I recently read somewhere that sending such pics is considered a crime in certain places. I would agree it should be!
I started the day in Nicolai Musc Manoi, but it wore off, so now I’m in Amouage Love Tuberose. It’s a little too sweet for me, but I can see why it has fans!
I’m reading students’ course reflections. Despite this nutty year, most are saying they feel that they’ve learned much and enjoyed class. It’s gratifying to know that they feel, as I do, that it has been a difficult but not wasted year.
Oh, that’s wonderful feedback!
That is great to hear! Congratulations to you and to your students!
This morning I went with Clean Reserve Skin, salty/sweet musky which fits the CP I think, but this evening I’m in Dior Eau Délice, zingy redcurrant .
Zingy redcurrant sounds fun!
It is! It’s a rather good flanker of Addict, not very like it.
I’m wearing Moth today, from a sample, and trying to figure out the notes without looking them up. I’m not home, so whatever was in my toiletries bag is what I’ll be wearing this week. Always an adventure since I just grab a handful and toss them in.
I like your way of picking samples – I am beginning to bog down thinking about what to take on my vacation….
I like Moth a lot. You smell great!
LOVE that teapot! Am in Guerlain Shalimar Souffle de Parfum. I like it better than Souffle Intense, which is too heavy for me. Plus, Peacock bottle! Will be wearing Aqua Allegoria Lys Soleia in spirit on Friday. I think it’s the beachiest thing I own, but it’s not really doctor’s office friendly (maybe if I do the tiniest squirt).
Oooh, I covet the peacock bottle–lucky you!
Honestly, I am not in love with the scent, though the bottle is gorgeous. If you are interested in a swap, let me know. brenda dawt moyes at the yahoo dawt calm.
Some nice sunshine after a day of cold rain – feeling springy in Splendiris!
You smell nice. I got my 4160Tuesdays package this morning. I will open it tomorrow!
Congrats on the new package!!
Ooh, looking forward to hearing what you got and how you like it!
Kelly Caleche. I smell purdy.
Yes you do!
SUPER humid today, and had rainy thunderstorms earlier this afternoon. This Tuesday is certainly shaping up to be Monday’s ugly little sister, bletch. ⚡☔
Time for a partial recap of my recent travel madness. At the beginning of last month, my Mom had a medical episode that resulted in her being taken by ambulance to a hospital. She was conscious at the time, but too weak to stand by herself. Broken bones, heart attack, and a “regular” stroke were all ruled out. The doctor thought it might have been a TIA, but no evidence of that ever showed up in all the tests. My mom has no memory of the event that landed her is hospital.
Then she was sent to a rehab facility that, in my opinion, didn’t do a good job. At all. My brother had 48 hours to find a place in the Assisted Living side of the facility she had been living at before she was due to be released. There was no way she could go back to her Independent Living apartment.
Here’s where I came in as backup and assistance. My brother did sign a lease for the Assisted Living room. He and a friend of his (or two) moved the furniture that would fit into the smaller site, plus clothes. I arrived in time to box up the things that were not going to the new place, but are being stored at my brother’s house. I also was the Emergency Brainpower for all the crap that comes along with a new move: change of address, notifications, etc. I also wanted to see how Mom was doing for myself. There’s only so much info that a phone call from even a trusted source can communicate.
So my Mom’s present condition is worse than before her medical episode. She can’t get up from her bed or a chair without physical assistance. Her hand tremors are more pronounced. She can’t remember what day of the week it is. On the plus side, she hates her PT, which means that she is being challenged to get stronger and more independent.
My mom not remembering who my brother is seems to be a one-time event thus far. I’m more upset about it than he is.
I will save the story about my Travel Woes for another post. This is a novel as it is. And the travel stuff is actually kinda funny…
SOTD = AA Mandatine Basilic EdT, from the sample stash. Thunk!
Congrats on the thunk. I am glad you’re back and boo hiss on the “revelations”.
Thanks. Yeah, there is some insurance BS in the mix, too. But I almost pity the fool that ticks my brother off….
That’s tough about your mother. There needs to be a how-to manual on aging parents.
It’s been PhD-level adulting, definitely.
I hope this new home works well for your mom.
Looking forward to the funny travel woes.
She needs to get our of her room for meals more often instead of getting them delivered by staff.
Great big hugs to you, Jalapeno. Agree w/ Sapphire…it’s very tough to deal w/ aging parents but you are doing a great job caring for her.
Thanks She-ra. I wonder sometimes about that. No easy answers there.
Sending a fragrant hug; no, there are no easy answers. Let your love for your Mother guide you. I am sure you will do all that is best. Since you mention it, yes, try to get her out of her room. I think that helped my Father, but his care giver tended to fuss around him and let him sit in his room. She was good, but we disagreed about that….
It’s something we will have to keep on top of. It’s harder since people are limited to 2 visits a week in the Assisted Living side of things.
Why? Always, or is that a pandemic thing?
(Now I’m going to check this rule at the place my mom is on a waiting list for.)
Pandemic thing, from what I understand. They have stricter rules than the Independent Living side FWIW, it’s a Good Idea to do some detective work on any place ahead of time.
Thanks. We have done a great deal of research and visited three times over the last 5 years (this is Kendal Crosslands, which is near me but will be a big move for my mom)…my mom is on waiting list and hope she will get a place next year. But we have done a better job investigating the independent living arrangements than we have w/ the skilled nursing arrangements.
Oof, great big hugs to you, I am so sorry for all that your mom is going through. Dealing with aging parents is no fun. Between your brother and you, it sounds like you have a good team going.
Thank you SmokeyToes. Most of the time my brother and I get along. ? We do have the occasional snarly moments, though.
Hugs to you, your brother and your mom. I have no advice, just sympathy.
The sympathy and empathy are greatly appreciated! So are the hugs.
Ayeeeah. Stressssfulll. But your mom is fortunate to have the dynamic duo of yourself and your brother.
I’m surprised that we both haven’t gone totally grey! But we do have some new expletives in our vocabulary…
Oh no, it’s awful, and having been through some similar episodes, I definitely sympathize. I hope the doctors check other possibilities, including electrolytes that are off, and/or a UTI. These have far more severe effects on older people’s mental states than on younger folks’, and are sometimes overlooked. It is a really serious possibility. I’m glad you and your brother have each other to help support one another during this difficult time.
Mom gets her blood checked a lot due to the medications she’s on, so I think electrolytes would get flagged right away. I did tell my brother about the UTI thing.
Gracious, so much to deal with…you and your mom and your brother all have my sympathies.
Thanks Robin.
Sorry to hear about all you are dealing with your mom, that is so stressful. I hope things improve for all of you.
Love the teapot, Robin!
SPTD = Maison Violet Un Air d’Apogee
It’s a nice sweet, powdery, tobacco leather, reminiscent of TF Tobacco Vanille or something of that ilk. The perfumes are very well done and methinks I will end up with a bottle at some point so I am test-wearing the ones that may have a chance.

In other news:
– all splits, swaps, freebies mailed out yesterday and tracking numbers emailed!
– had a haircut yesterday and ton of hair again even though the last time I had my haircut was 7 weeks ago. It looks like I’m going back to my regular haircut cycle of every 6-8 weeks…really until I cannot stand my hair which usually happens around the 6 week mark.
– I went to my train station yesterday: tested my parking pass and to get a new schedule. Oy, getting ready to go in for a trial this Friday. I may still chicken out …
– I decided to boost my immune system by going MASKLESS at Wegmans! It’s no longer required but I was still in the minority. I was trying to gauge if people were actively avoiding me (not sure), but I sure was actively avoiding the other maskless people. I swear that a maskless person speaking at the top of her lungs in her cell was following me around so I zigzagged my way out of that mess!
– masking was required at Marshall’s, but I saw 2 guys who were maskless. When I mentioned this to the cashier, she just shrugged her shoulders mad said it was too difficult to police it. ??♀️ There weren’t many people in the store.
– I have two smelly packages waiting to be opened. Of course this was me trying to go on a no-buy for May but I failed at the halfway mark ?.
Is it bad that I am secretly glad you failed the no buy? The world is so crazy now, I need some sort of stability I can count on! Lol ?
Nah, it’s not bad. I think I was just busy with trying to finish my tax returns.
Finishing tax returns WAY offsets a failed no-buy, if you ask me…..and what was in those smelly packages, BTW 🙂
To be revealed tomorrow (although probably not wearing any of them yet). I am excited!
I’ve been avoiding people without masks, too, in retail settings. And airports!
My reasoning is that at least the groceries I frequent have high ceilings and I was hoping that people would avoid me too. That said, when I was at my train station, I think the moment you step on train station property, even if it is to get to the ticket booth, you’re required to wear a mask. Most people weren’t but there were only a few people overall. Also, meant to mention that pre-COVID, the parking garage got full by 9:30. When I went yesterday at around noon, there were many spaces left.
I’ve tried to find parking in one of those NJT parking garages in the Before Times. It was a challenge!
I thought they were all very well done too but, as always, trying not to go crazy w/ FBs when who knows what great juice will be looming new on the horizon? 😉
The opening of this one was a little too much at hay at first for me but the tobacco drydown was lovely…that was on a scent strip though…haven’t tried any on skin yet b/c I am too busy sampling other recent acquisitions. 🙂
Good luck on going back to the office. My boss recently said she would to do our management huddles in person in the office so to plan to go for 1 or 2 days a month but then I read weekly communication that HR sends to managers get which kind of said masks, masks, masks (nothing is changing/these aren’t the droids you’re looking for) and even if folks say they are vaccinated, we don’t care, you still need masks. ehaeheh I am in California though. 😉
Oooh, hay??? I’m intrigued. (Love the Star Wars reference!)
I am trying not to go crazy either but a girl’s gotta do what a girl wants to do ?
I see you, I hear you and I spend with you! 🙂
I spotted on Instagram that you’re testing all the Maison Violet scents! I think they’re all quite well done, and it’s just down to personal preference for notes. My favorites are Sketch, Un Air, and Pourpre. No full bottle in the horizon for me though.
I am rooting for Sketch but we’ll see!
I am noticing that at Whole Foods, nearly everyone is masked and glancing sideways at the few people who aren’t. At Giant (I don’t know if everyone has Giant, but it’s a regular grocery chain, cheaper than Whole Foods) only about 60% of the customers are masked. I have not yet been to my local Wegmans.
Same here with the Whole Foods. I was telling someone that the sign at Whole Foods was on a sliding glass door so it kept opening and closing and I did not feel like asking. Most people were masked.
I am sooo looking forward to the end of the mask mandate here in BC. Theoretically it is July 1st. Crossing fingers.
Looking forward to hearing about your smelly packages!
SOTD is Paris-Deauville. Regret of the day is that I didn’t opt for the bigger bottle. 😀
Can the perfume budget be fudged for a bigger bottle?
It could, but if I’m really honest I have to admit that I’ll probably never finish the small bottle I have, given all the things in the Closet of Shame (great phrase – thanks She-ra!). I was just being silly and expressing a First World Problem Regret. ?
You smell great…that is a great one…I spied it in my Closet of Shame just the other day. 😉
Closet of Shame would be a fun perfume name and is a simply perfect explanation for the smell that comes out of my perfume cupboard. Heavenly. I wish someone could bottle that! 😀
SotD Spellbound. But I’ve been trying to thunk a Hillary Duff With Love 15ml and so I am getting an overlay of beachy with my Spellbound. Rainy today; Dr. appt. oh and our sewer line backed up (tree roots/50 year old line) but after two visits, Roto-Rooter send our troubles down the drain. https://www.rotorooter.com/plumbing-videos/entertainment/1960s-roto-rooter-commercial/
Vintage commercials are so much fun!
I love them – this one is great: green rotary dial phones; ladies’ ruffly house dresses – notice the man is being picked on by his boss…it’s rich with details, LOL
Vintage Spellbound is exquisite stuff.
EL fangirl that I am, I still passed over it for years, but finally saw that perfume mini I’d set aside.
Blergh on the backed up sewer! ??
And that should be for MossyBerry?.
Thanks, Jalapeno – it was *so* a blergh; but we must carry on, and I made half gallon of bleach solution after the RR guys left so at least my bathroom is cleaner than it has been in years!
I’m about to participate in an international conference that starts tomorrow morning for three days and am tearing my hair out, because the times are all listed as “UST” (universal time) and I have to take five hours off to figure my time, and they are using not one or two but three different platforms! two of which I’ve never used before. I attended a practice session today on “Hopin” but can’t figure out why they made this so complicated. The time zones thing makes more sense since people are in Asia and Australia, the US, and Europe. I just hope I show up to the slots where I’m supposed to be present at the proper hour!
I’m wearing the very seductive Fils de Joie from SL which I got from the recent split meet, and loving it more and more.
One of my cats was in a fight, got some bites that became badly infected, and has to be in the hospital all week… with numerous treatments. Painkillers, fluids, antibiotics, sedatives…. This vet bill is going to go into quadruple digits… I might have to sell off some vintage perfumes or platinum rings—-yeah, sure….. She’s unhappy but is reportedly getting better, slowly. Still not eating though.
Poor kitty!
Best of luck with your conference.
Good luck with Your conferences!!
And ohhhh Noooo!! Poor kitty!!!! I remember one of Your cats had something wrong with her toes or a paw? And now another one is injured. Hope this kitty recovers quickly!!
About 3 years ago we had a bad hurricane. Friends of ours, an island over had an outside cat. They had to move out of that hurricane-destroyed property though. Since we love animals they drove the outside cat to our house. She mostly spent her time on the porch of our occasionally going out at night. But one time she came back in with an injured leg. Turned out to be a broken leg with a complicated fracture. The vet offered to amputate or try to save it with putting some rods in it – they way that we just are, we shelled out the almost $3000 for the surgery to save the leg of a cat we even barely knew!! I did call though Friends of Animals and they helped us with $600 off the bill. So we still spent $2400, a lot of money for us. Unfortunately this cat refused to eat for 2 weeks, snuck outside while in recovery and we spent additional money to have her stay the day at the vet to get hydrated and fed because she was loosing weight quickly post surgery. Two weeks of her absolute misery and doctor’s said because she was old she was suffering a lot… And we had to put her to down… Very sad. And all that money we spent trying to fix her up and care for her just to put her down anyway because she lost her will to live…
Sorry for the long story. The only point I was trying to make was to try to call Friends of Animals or another charity, just to see if they could possibly take something off the bill.
OMG, what a story, and a sad one. You were angels to try to help that kitty. I’m pleased to say that I was sort of moaning about the situation to a friend and she generously offered to help pay the vet bill. How nice! She does have a lot of money and told me, “you’re my best friend,” and she also loves cats. Sometimes things just work out well.
Yes, but my parents were a little upset with the vets we have here. We live in a small town (island) one of the most expensive spots in the US if not the most expensive one. Doctors here compared to Miami (150 miles away) charge a lot more. They were eager to grab the money but post surgery they weren’t trying to be all over that cat anymore. I talked about it with my mom yesterday (we bring it up sometimes) and my mom confirmed what I thought: they took her in twice for an 8 hour day – to give her fluids, stabilize her etc. Each time of these 8 hour care cost about $300 something dollars. We can’t remember exactly.
And You are very lucky to have such a great friend, it was so nice of her to call You her bestie!!
So sorry about your kitty Calypso!
Poor kitty. We had a cat that used to get in fights like that too. Sending vibes for a speedy recovery!

warm weather is on the way,

easy peasy lemon squeezy iced tea deliciousness
because I put the bottle in my fridge yesterday.
Wore some No. 5 to bed last night,
Assam of India is lovely over the drydown.
Lately there has been a lot of mention of Assam of India. I’m so jealous because I want a bottle too ahhh and those elephants… <3
