It's Hump Day and International Nurses Day — thank you, nurses! It's also Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) International Awareness Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Eau de Néroli Doré for Knocks Me Off My Feet, from what is still widely regarded as Stevie Wonder's best album (and, some say, the best album ever), Songs in the Key of Life, 1976.
Reminder: on 5/14 we're celebrating Stevie Wonder's birthday (a day late...he turns 71 on Thursday). Tell us your favorite Stevie Wonder song and wear the fragrance to match.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Happy Wednesday! ?
Happy Wednesday!??
?
Happy Wednesday! You smell heavenly.
Thank you!
Smelling good!
Thank you! You also smell great in Coeur de Vetiver Sacre!
Oh yes! Happy Wednesday!
??
I ran out of time to post yesterday but big hugs on your return to the office. I saw you wore hajusuuri-level sprays of 19 Poudre and that made me grin.
Thank you She-ra!
It was fun to experience Hajusuuri-level sprays! That was the only way to enjoy Poudre! ?
Posting *really* late, but Happy Wednesday to you, too!
Thank you! ?
I’m in Samsara edp, the current version.
I was awake really early. My exam is done. Thank gosh!
I had one of my stress dreams last night. In my dream I joined zoom to take my exam, only to find that everyone else in the class had already taken it…yesterday! Of course I freaked out and started crying. I pleaded with my instructor to please let me take it because I really thought that it was today. By some miracle she did let me take it. When I started taking the exam, all the questions were about Ghostbusters. The movie. WTH!???
I’m in Samsara too.
Twins!? we smell great!
Ohhh, you smell lovely! The sandalwood in Samsara is glorious.
I dislike stress dreams like that, wake up drenched with my heart pounding. No fun…
Thanks!
Yeah, I hate those dreams too.?I was so happy to wake up!
Did you get the Ghostbusters questions correct?
Glad the test is over.
I don’t know! They were hard.?They were questions asking me all about the symbolism of Sigourney Weaver’s character zuul. I was like…”but this wasn’t covered on the exam review!”??
I’ve been out of pharmacy school for 25+ years and STILL have those exact types of dreams! LOL It’s the worst!
I never had those dreams while I was a student, but I have them now! What is THAT about???
Stress.? (that’s what they mean for me anyway)
They are the worst!
haha! dreams are so funny like that.. glad you’re all done!
Me too!?
I had those exam nightmares when I was in school. Later, when I was working and traveling, the dreams were about remembering I had plane tickets I for a flight I had to be on only a couple of hours before the flight. And, of course, I wasn’t even packed. ?
The great thing about your dream is that you negotiated your way through the crisis. I think most (many?) people wake up from the nightmare in a panic. In my case, it was always too late, i.e., I hadn’t attended the class in months, or I was too far from the airport to make the flight in the time remaining.
Yeah, usually it’s like that for me too….overslept, hadn’t studied, etc. In my dream I was so relieved I could take the exam, but then, the questions! Not what I studied for, lol.?
That’s definitely a new plot twist!
I have similar dreams but about not getting somewhere on time. The other night I dreamed I had forgotten to pack up my things from a hotel room when checking out and when I went back, I couldn’t find the hotel….
I know for me, I have those dreams when I have something stressful going on in my life.
Who ya gonna call? Your subconscious!
Ha!?
This happened to me once in a college exam. I thought the test was at 1pm but it was at 10am. It was awful, I did cry. Fortunately my professor took pity on me and let me take the exam in an empty office. It was an emotional roller coaster! The questions were about accounting, not Ghostbusters though. Again, fortunately for me.
That’s terrible! My worst nightmare, do you ever dream about it? So glad your Professor let you take the exam!
Yay for your exam being done and I love Ghostbusters!
Yay! So happy it’s done.
Hopefully you won’t have any more tests in your near future!
I’m wearing Eau des Merveilles Bleue.
Smells like holidays for me
You smell great!
Kind of forgot about blogging last night but not the end of the world. About to get into the shower and wash off Pleasures. With this goofy weather, I don’t know what I want to wear perfume wise. I think it will be either no 19 or no 22.
Didn’t know you have a blog. Will take a look later
Good morning all, my SOTD is Coromandel by Chanel. It just called to me today.
We did it all 22 flights yesterday! With the interstitial floors, it was more like 24 floors. The look on the building attendant’s face when we asked for stair access to the 22nd floor was hilarious. Also funny was climbing all those stairs set off a chain reaction of hot flashes.
Unfortunately, I’ll be seeing more of the dentist, I need a root canal and crown. So two/three visits over the next three weeks, depending on how far they get on the first visit.
Wonderful! How long did it take you to climb the 24 floors? Do you plan to keep doing it, when you go there again?
Hi P67! It took probably five minutes? We took the stairs down (far easier…) after our visit.
I will do it again on 5/20 and 6/3, when I return for the following visits.
Years ago, I worked downtown in a building with 21 floors. I used to climb them top to bottom, three or four times a day and then go to the gym after! Times have changed…
That’s amazing! You are in such great shape! You are inspiring me to exercise in a more serious way.
Thanks! My legs aren’t as sore as I’d anticipated. So that’s also a plus! It gives me hope that at 53, strength gains can be made.
Coromandel is wonderful!
Bummer about the root canal–they’re the worst. But congratulations on meeting your fitness goal for the day!
Yep, I’m not looking forward to it. I have the world’s softest teeth!
My husband, not one cavity at 54.
My dental x-rays make me look like a cyborg. I envy people with good teeth — mine are soft, like yours. Sending root canal empathy your way!
Thanks for the empathy! Oh my goodness! Cyborg is the perfect description!
The only godsend is my dentist is such a nice guy, I’ve known him since he was just out of dental school.
I have Crohn’s, and very sensitive gums, he’s careful not to bang around.
I try to not be that delicate flower patient, but…
Soft, crappy teeth, too!
Be a delicate flower-Smokeytoes! We flowers eventually find a caring dentist. Or don’t go.
Best wishes for the root canal.?
I’m very amused that my dentist is also on the 24th floor of a building in San Francisco, and that I saw them on Monday! I took the elevator!
Yep, I go to 450 Sutter St., a.k.a., 450 Suffer Street! If I wasn’t with Mr. SmokeyToes, I would have popped into Saks and Neiman’s.
Oh my, I love that building… it’s a stunner at least from the outside. Mine is 180 Montgomery, much more blah, but still an incredible view of the north while I’m twiddling my toes.
Years ago, we used to enjoy lunch at a roof top garden in a building off of Montgomery. It has flowers and tables/chairs where we could sit and enjoy a lovely lunch.
I formerly worked at the Federal Home Loan Bank of SF, on sunny days, I’d have lunch at the park by St. Mary’s. Such a pretty park, and great memories.
I also love this church, by Moscone Center.

Can’t reply to your reply for some reason, but I think that might be the top of the former Wells Fargo next to the Crocker Galleria? Indeed it is lovely! Nice to meet a neighbor, anyway… I live in Oakland and work in the city on Nob Hill.
Good luck with your upcoming root canal and crown! I’ve had one, and healed up rather quickly from it.
Penhaligon’s Lavandula, a nice herby-spicy lavender. Not much staying power, but you can’t have everything.
I do love that one. I do like to spritz with wild abandon!
Would love to try lavadula
Hello everyone!
Woke up to some cloudy grey weather that made me feel rather wistful. Paired that with my decant of El Attarine, which is a bit more vinegary than it used to be. That might move a bottle up higher on my list.
I’ve had this song stuck it my head all day (and basically since it came out) and fits my mood perfectly. It’s intelligent pop, just a warning! ?
https://youtu.be/dYfvYfO0h_c
Stay safe everyone.
Sorry about your decant! If you buy a bottle, I will be jealous — but you should.
I have a feeling I’ll make up my mind tonight: Lutens is doing 20% off at the moment which takes the price from absurd to spendy. El Attarine really is a gem though.
Just peeked at the price. Yes, buy it before the sale ends!
Coeur de Vetiver Sacre for me today!
Grateful for the reminder on International Nurses Day so I can extend my appreciation and love to some of my favorite nurses including my brother.
Yay nurses
Pour La Belle, topped up later with Empreinte, a total oakmoss overload. Today is a national holiday, so I have a day off to relax.
Nice, enjoy your holiday tannina!
Good morning.
Sotd is Ballerina no.5. I am picking up loads of juicy berries, pink to red roses and a teeny bit of oud. It makes me happy.
Scent: Jour d’Hermès Absolu from a decant. I have a large full bottle of the first version, purchased after finishing a 50 ml bottle. I do like this Absolu version, though, and wouldn’t be distraught if a bottle dropped into my hands.
I’ve been playing with new samples lately, which has been interesting, but it’s nice to return to my usual lineup.
Tea: Upton Lemon Drop (I bought a lot of it)
Reading: I need to pick up Think Again by Adam Grant. I have a copy, but I keep getting distracted by new books coming out. It’s like my latest rabbit hole, honestly. Something pops up, I download a sample, add it to my list, read another article online somewhere, another book pops up, etc. Either we’ve hit my sweet spot for topics (currently it’s pretty much popular science stuff), or the algorithms have me down to a t.
My attention span is still off-kilter. I blame it on this past year plus how we consume info. these days. Takes some discipline to stick with a book and read through an entire article.
Same — I find I do better if I’m reading several things at once and can switch around.
Oh, lemon drop sounds delicious! I love a refreshing tea in the afternoon. I love Jour d’Hermès, how is the absolu different?
I recently tried Chamomile, Honey, & Vanilla by Ahmad, it’s so soothing at night.
So the Absolu has been reformulated already? It seems like it didn’t come out that long ago.
Good morning, all! I’ve been AWOL a bit, for no particular reason.
Lately I tend to wear perfume only in the evenings, since daytimes are about cleaning and yardwork and hiking. SOTE yesterday was Aftelier Ancient Resins, yummy.
It seems to be summer here now, guess it’s time to put away the winter scents and pull out the summer ones. Maybe I’ll do that today.
Waving! Howdy
Waving hi back!
Nice to e-see you, and I’m glad there hasn’t been some particular bad-life-woes reason!
Just busy life
Heloooooo ! Good to see you!
Ancient Resins is spectacular stuff.
Hello! Hey were you the one who’s going to Yosemite next month? I was just looking at their website, and I see that starting May 21 you need to have scored an online reservation in order to get into the park
Good to see you today pixel!
Hi everyone! Like pixel, I’ve been AWOL for no particular reason. Wearing Shalimar today to go with Stevie Wonder’s Sir Duke because it’s a perfume that I can really feel all over
Nice call! And nice to see you
Hi there ringthing!
Did it too fast to consider why, but applied Lilac Love on my left arm, and Figment Woman on my right (both Amouage). Perhaps a compare and contrast experiment? Blech! Both are heavy hitters and they do not get along. These are from decants I ordered. Pretty sure I do not need full bottles of either.
SW song of the perfume is Superstition, cuz, you know, “When you believe in things that you don’t understand, then you suffer . . .”
I think I have tried those both, and didn’t love them. I learned that Lilac is lovely in the garden, less so on my arm.
I had a tough time with Lilac Love. It’s great in En Passant and in a garden. Might be how the Lilac comes across in perfume and its supporting notes.
I love En Passant. Lilac Love, to me, has something buttery/oily at its start that I don’t love.
Is Figment Woman as strange as Figment Man? I wanted to like it but something about the “animalic” note smelled unnatural and queasy to me. I liked the sweet earthiness of the rest of it, but the queasiness was very unsettling.
Haven’t tried Figment Man, but I find Figment Woman hard to love. It calmed down to something better, but I feel like it would be chore to wear it again–not sure why. I just approached my arm again to consider whether it is animalic note that is throwing me off. Conclusion? I have none.
Lilac Love on the other hand has dried down to something very pleasant–it now reminds me of Secrete Datura by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier, a perfume I owned many years ago.
Hi Everyone,
also been awol for a while but very busy with my swap meet goodies – today, like yesterday, I’m in l’air du rien which I like a lot, but I can’t figure out why.
Because of the swapmeet, I’m also getting closer to identifying what I don’t like and can’t wait until some perfumery classes are offered live again – maybe I can put names to ingredients better.
Semester over, summer classes have started, trying hard to get motivated to get started on the day!
Curious to hear what you don’t like? Or you really don’t know until you take a class?
I’m thinking it’s one of the woody aromachemicals that are a bit like cedar, often in “beast mode” or “oud” type fragrances, and often in new niche releases. A good example of one that had a ton of this: Hermes Citron Noir.
Ah, that makes sense.
Humans have been sharing food with animals for centuries, but why?
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/11/science/animal-feeding-humans.html?action=click&module=Well&pgtype=Homepage§ion=Science
Another tantalizing question that I never thought of.
No perfume yet. I’ll have to think about Stevie Wonder first.
OK, I think of “That’s What Friends Are For” as a Stevie Wonder song, and so does YouTube. This is for NST perfume friends!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyTpu6BmE88&list=PLymM46aOVb8UwXZ9M47pT5toq7Dfa81Sa
Sunshine to me means orange blossom. It’s a cool day, so I’m going with L’AP Seville a l’aube.
You smell perfect!
Thank you, and thanks for reminding me of Saffran Troublant, in your post below. Another fantastic perfume!
Back in Diorissimo today.
Robin, thank you for posting the picture of Mary Eliza Mahoney. I hadn’t ever learned about her before today.
Smelling fabulous!
I hadn’t either, and learned about her today sort of by accident while looking for vintage nurse pictures
I’m in Safran Troublant today, partially because I classify it as one of my little-black-dress perfumes in that it goes with everything and is always pleasant, and partly because my son has pointed to it a couple of times recently and said it was the “most mama” of my fragrances. Who knows if he understood what he was pointing to, but I’m hoping that I’ll smell “most mama” when I pick him up from school in a little bit. Yesterday was a long day without him as I dropped him off at 8am and then his father picked him up from school and kept him overnight. It’s so hard to be apart from him for that long and not be able to re-connect at the end of the day, and it provoked all kinds of anxiety in me last night — just this general, churning feeling of alarm and wrongness and insecurity that I eventually traced back to the nucleus of missing my little boy.
That is so sweet and touching, Isabella. I’ll bet that little boy can’t wait to jump into mama’s arms for a big hug!
Sweet story about your little boy.
That’s hard. Hope it is a great reunion today.
Safran Troublant is such a great and comforting fragrance. It’s wonderful that your boy will have this scent connection and memory!
Awwwwwww! Hang in there mama!
I’m wearing Rhubarbe Ecarlate this morning, and feeling much better than I did yesterday. My stomach hurt and I felt so tired. I went to bed at 9:30 and slept soundly until 6:30 and cured whatever it was. I think I might make cookies this afternoon.
I hope you are feeling better! And cookies always sound nice.
Wednesday!
1) Guys, thank you for your thoughts yesterday! These modern times just call for people to always be prepared to lose a job at any time, no matter what your field is.
2) After my (late!) workout & shower, in Vetiver Pamplemouse from the Zara x Jo Malone collection.
Sorry to hear about the job loss! The next job will surely be better
I got laid off once (with no inkling it was coming) after 2 years at a startup. All of us who got laid off were given enough time to pack up our stuff and told to be off the property by noon or they would call the police. Charming. You can bet I didn’t give anyone the contact info or passwords for the technical associations that I represented the company to.
Vetiver Pamplemousse is pretty nice, isn’t it?
1) NOOOIIIICCCE.
GAWD.
2) It really is! I am using the discovery set tube BUT I have full bottle as backup- worth the every penny!
What made it even more super duper fun was that I’d carpooled with my husband that day and he had the car. And I couldn’t reach him via phone, and of course I was locked out of company email (this was pre-smartphone-days, you young’uns). My (ex) employer said they’d call me a cab if my husband didn’t get me off the property by noon. I did finally reach him, but MAN, I was steamed.
Seconding Pixel, I’m so sorry you lost your job! Here’s hoping you find something that you enjoy, and get an increase in salary too!
It doesn’t hurt to be prepared. The hubby and I are savers, after 131 coworkers of mine were laid off last year, I made an extra effort to double down on saving.
Saving in general is good- I have had my share of rainy days! And it’s very easy to get into ‘lifestyle creep’. But I am already getting requests for meetings and interviews- out of state but with the promise of remote work- so I really do feel prepared for the next adventure.
I am sorry to hear about your job lost. Things like that happen for a good reason and I am sure a better job is waiting for you out there.
At the very least, the team had notice, so there is that. And I think that a better job is in the works!
I hadn’t caught up with yesterday’s news, I’m very sorry to hear about your job loss.
Also sorry for the job loss but you are well prepared and smell great!
Smelling great & being prepared is half the battle, I feel!
I was laid off by Barnes&Noble last March after having been with them since 1997. I am never going back and I will never not be bitter. I know that this is the politics free zone but the way that corporations treat people is just appalling. I feel everyone’s pain here.
Saying corporations treat people poorly does not seem to me to be a political statement. Anyway, it’s obviously true for at least some corporations.
I think what we can’t talk about is what govt might or might not do about the fact that corporations treat people badly.
As a person who literally grew up at B&N on the UWS, i just want to *hug* you. Wow.
And yes.
Thank you❤️
I have the same feelings about my old store. We were treated incredibly poorly by the corporation and HR in the end. I still hate them. I’m sorry that happened to you.
I am glad you commented. I spent a whole year struggling with anger, grief, bitterness and I felt terrible about all these feelings. I could not process the whole experience with any grace. I think it is healthier to just not ever be happy about what occurred. I shall hate them too!
I was fired from a job after 8 years. They told me they would mail my stuff in my desk. Hell to the no Bobby Brown. I called the police and explained why they had to release my personal items immediately, and they agreed. The best part was that the manager was in the middle of being lectured by the officer as to why they did not have a legal basis for holding my personal items from me as a client walked in. It was glorious. She was embarrassed and they ended paying me off to not raise a legal stink about other things. It was a whistle blower situation. I went down in a blaze of glory. Didn’t hurt my chances elsewhere either.
Wow, what a story!
You have got some smarts!
That is something!
Everyone else they let go, and it was 9 people in my small department in one year just skulked out. No way were they holding my personal junk. They chose to let me go right in the lobby, so it served them right. I had worked from the ground up on a project for a massive multinational company and my boss was let go, and her replacement decided she wanted to drop the project. Most mid level managers would be canned for losing a huge client, but she wasn’t. It was unbelievable to see.
Hi Ede, I didn’t get to say so yesterday, but I am really sorry about your job. I was laid off 4 year’s ago, and it took me a long while to adjust. I wish you the best of luck.
It is another hot day, with a possibility of evening storms.
I’m wearing Chanel Paris-Deauville.
Is Paris-Deauville the bright green/citrus scent?
Perfect for a hot day!
Mmmmm … you smell divine.
I was a bit of a zombie today after a too short night, I chose Eau Première, the lemony one, after it faded I sprayed vintage Oscar edt and was reminded of the extrait of Oscar I have too.
Sorry to hear about your insomnia! Hopefully it meant you were able to have a better sleep tonight.
Love Eau Première!
You guessed right?
You must be the best smelling zombie ever!
? it makes them sound harmless, good-smelling zombies.
I hope you get some good sleep soon. You do smell pretty awesome.
Thank you Lillyjo, I slept like a log.
Yuck, sleep deprivation sucks. Hope that you get some solid Zzzzzzzs tonight!
I did, thank you Jalapeno.
Wearing le Chèvrefeuille by Goutal. Very busy day but I did manage to wear identical shoes when I went out to get my tyres changed. ?
I plan to emulate your perspective and give myself daily credit for matched shoes and other accomplishments that we all take for granted. ?
Matching shoes plus you smelled great!
Late check-in!
Went with 4160 Tuesdays Meet Me on the Corner, a really good citrusy woody scent. Lasts all day and makes me smile! This is my daughter’s bottle, but she’s outta town so I can spray from her collection without waking her up for the next few days…… LOL (We happily share our bottles!)
Nice to have another collection to shop in
My random thoughts about perfume this morning have landed on Map of the Heart. Nothing else in the line appealed to me, but I really like Gold Heart.
Those bottles freak me out a little!
My decant of Habit Rouge EdP waved at me this morning. Nice and refreshing, although after a few hot days, “nature’s air conditioner” returned to the Bay Area last night.
I am still waiting for the hot weather to return here! Hopefully you sent it our way.
Absolutely totally random PSA. If you are into Hermetica perfumes (I can’t say I’ve tried any of them), Cos Bar is having a 40% off sale on them.
Happy Wednesday everyone!! This week I treated myself to a decant of Creed Green Asian Tea and a travel sized TF Lavender Extreme. Asian Green Tea is because I have to try it – I am HUGE on tea and tea perfumes (I am super huge on Japanese culture too ever since I was about 4 yrs of age). Period. The name says it all and I have to try that one.
Lavender extreme is because I am EXTREME about lavender. I mentioned before on here that after many, many years of living as a “perfumista” the outcome is that I narrowed down my favorite florals to two key notes: that of rose and lavender. Lavender being the highest on my list though. When I think of that one smell I would like the world smell like – it is lavender. I LOVE lavender, love love love it!!!! If I could have anything and everything scented in lavender I would be the happiest person alive.
Lush Twilight body spray has lavender and tonka. I love it!
As does the LUSH Twilight shower gel. It’s a nice one for winter.
Late
Post, and will have to read comments later. I’m in January Scent Project’s Eiderantler for an unseasonably cool day.
Gas panic in Raleigh. It’s been a week already and it’s only Wednesday.
Learned about the hack last night on the news. Ayeeah. My slogan this week will be your comment: “It’s been a week already and it’s only Wednesday.” Exactly.
I’ve had multiple Mondays recently where, at the end of the work day, I’ve thought to myself, “Thank GOD tomorrow’s Saturday.” Brutal.
There has been such a panicked run here in southeastern Virginia that a shortage was created by the panic. It is toilet paper all over again.
Wearing Dior Joy Intense which is a nice floral vanilla w/ some patchouli definitely lurking even though I don’t think it’s an official note.
I had to go into the office this morning which is my first return since 3/13/20…the fateful Friday I went home and never came back.? I cleaned up my desk/area quite nicely. Took some personal things home and shredded stuff. To the best of my knowledge, my company will be putting a long term telecommuting plan in the works. It was kind of sad and surreal. I really enjoy working from home but obviously many things have been lost w/ that transition.
I agree that many things have been lost with the transition. It felt so weird for me to go back to work yesterday. People around were feeling the same. The adjustment process is going to take time. Things will never be the same.
I wonder how many businesses will consolidate or close offices now, as a result of so many people being able to successfully telecommute.
SOTD is Nicolai Musc Intense. More rose than musk to my nose.
I love that one!
Oo, that sounds yummy.
I’m wearing HdP 1969, and going with My Cherie Amour, Stevie’s hit album and single from the same year (although Songs in the Key of Life is indeed one of the greatest albums of all time).
Happy Wednesday, everybody!
HdP 1969 is perfectly on the mark, and such a beauty!
Azemour les Oranges for me today.
You smell incredible!
In Pour Une Femme de Caron – a beautiful chypre in an iconic bottle.
And once again, reading the French and English text on the box, French emerges the victor in the – sounds so much better-contest.
“Je vous offre
quatre vaporisations
de tendresse,
il suffit de me retourner
pour renouveler
le geste.
My four sweet
bursts of tenderness
are yours afresh
if you just flip
me over.”
Hmm. I think something was lost in translation but I bet you smell heavenly!
Thank you!
I forgot the tenuous Stevie Wonder connection:
“Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours!”
Even Google sounds better a bit better:
I offer
four sprays
of tenderness,
just turn me around
to renew
gesture.
Is there something about the way the bottle works where flipping over or turning around make sense? Or is there a missed idiom?
That is a better translation!
Yes, the bottle is a body (hips and torso) of a woman (no head) and it rests on a stand (the top of the bottle when you flip it over). Does that make sense?
Here’s the visual:
https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Caron/Pour-Une-Femme-de-Caron-5592.html
Thanks! Yes, now it does. Slightly like the old Cancan. It must sound cute in French.
I have too many amber perfumes for a person that does not really love them. How did that happen? Today I am in one of the most interesting ones, Estée Lauder Private Collection Amber Ylang-Ylang. If you are in love with Playdoh notes in perfumery look no further. This lovely creation also stays very close to the skin and is not hugely projecting, even after 8 sprays.
Ha ha — right there with you; I have at least three plus the Tauer amber body oil but I’m ambivalent about amber. I do quite like Pd’E Ambre Russe because it’s like amber + ginger biscuits, about which I am *not* ambivalent.
Sneaky ambers! They are just too easy to wear and to love.
Song of the Day: https://youtu.be/6YBC3ZVo7R0
Hat tip to lillyjo for planting the seed of this idea in my head yesterday!
SOTD = Gucci EdP aka Clear Bottle, Brown Juice. Today I took the shrink wrap off the bottle I got a while back and sprayed for the first time.
?Wow! That’s a great version!
Isn’t it? I got chills and goosebumps the first time I heard it!
Wow on your bottle! You smell fantastic!
Thanks Gail! It’s not a new acquisition… it’s been patiently hanging around in the perfume stash for its turn in the spotlight for a couple of years.
What did I do? What did I do? Lol.
I never heard this version!
Smelling great!
You had mentioned a bad cover song yesterday, so I figured I’d post a great cover song today. I have Mr. Jalapeno to thank for turning me on to this one. He knows of my fondness for Def Leppard and heard about this cover on Sirius XM.
How did you feel?
Like heliotrope, apparently.
Wearing Montale Intense Cafe from a random bunch of rando samples, and it is a strong NOPE for me. I’m curious to see how long it lasts; it is still going strong 9+ hours in. I had to stop by my office yesterday to deal with some paper files and found a long forgotten bag of samples in a drawer. Some I thought I had lost and others I didn’t realize I even had and am excited to try. It was like a present from past me to current me!
NOPE can sometimes feel like the easiest answer of all!
SotD = Cologne du 68
It’s warm today but no hot weather yet, and Cd68 feels nice.
I often think of scents as matching a color or a frequency, does that make sense? Cd68 is burnished orange.
But I don’t often think of a specific song with a scent, so I’m looking forward to Friday’s pairings. I adore Stevie’s music.
Scents are totally matched with colors in my mind (as are numbers, but that’s a different neurological oddity). And interestingly, Cologne du 68 is a sort of creamy terracotta color to me — seems we’re on the same wavelength! Also, you smell great!
Some perfumes have a color match to them for me, and others don’t.
I wore Eau My Soul today because I was scrolling through instagram this morning and saw that it’s the 10th birthday of 4160 Tuesdays.
I’ve really been enjoying all the Stevie Wonder song mentions, sooo many great ones I had forgotten! I have a song in mind for Friday but absolutely no scent connection yet.
I have no song but have plenty of perfume choices.
You smell great!
Wearing Guerlain Vetiver today. It’s such a good background scent, matching the cloudy day. My hubby got his shot today so I didn’t want anything too overpowering; he mostly tolerates my hobby at the best of times!
Hooray!
Everyone should have a good background scent in their perfume wardrobe.
I’m fortunate today to have worn Scents of Wood Cedre En Acacia. Thanks to a generous Nster. This perfume is fantastic! I haven’t looked it up, so I don’t really know what I am smelling. I just know what I like, lol.
Tomorrow morning I have to get a heart test done. I forget what it’s called, but wish me luck! I just want some improvement from the last one, which was almost 2 years ago because of all the upheaval.
Wishing you good luck tomorrow, lillyjo!
Good luck! Don’t forget to ask about getting the vaccine!
Hope that everything goes well for you tomorrow!
Some of the Scents of Wood fragrances are really nice?Good luck tomorrow!
I’m curious about Scents of Wood house and I was thinking about signing up for their monthly travel spray & candle subscription. Have you tried many of their scents? Would they make for good candles?
Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow!
Good luck lillyjo!
