Byredo Tobacco Mandarin ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 24 September 2020 9 Comments

Niche line Byredo has launched Tobacco Mandarin, a new woody citrus addition to the Night Veils collection.

Bright, lively freshness of citrus fruits meets smoky, dark spice notes. Tobacco Mandarin artfully combines seemingly contradictory contrasts - inspired by the Moroccan port city of Tangier, which has become a myth - into a full-bodied picture. Here east and west meet day and night, past and present meet male and female. By day, the world of the spice trade unfolds in a landscape dominated by citrus trees. At night, however, femmes and hommes "fatals", surrounded by tobacco smoke and leather, dominate the cityscape. Tobacco Mandarin absorbs these impressions and transforms them into a fragrance soaked in sensuality, elegance, and danger...

Additional notes include coriander, cumin, labdanum, incense, oud and sandalwood.

Byredo Tobacco Mandarin is available now at Essenza Nobile in Germany, €245 for 50 ml Extrait de Parfum.

Not everyone likes Byredo; I do. I’ll be interested in trying this. 😀

Haha, indeed. I don’t like Byredo at all, never smelled something I liked from the brand, quite the contrary in fact… Notes sound interesting here, but not particularly eager to try since they’ll probably messed it up anyway 😋 Sorry! 😉

I really like a few, and I like those quite a bit. But it’s a small percentage of their output.

I like a couple. I love the color of the juice, will sniff it just for that lol. I can do cumin here and there too.

Is it the juice, or just the coloured interior of the bottle? Hope so or If it gets anywhere near clothing the dry cleaning bills will be huge 😆

I don’t really like them more or less than any other house. I think
Gypsy Water and Bal d’Afrique are wonderful. I will definitely try this one.

I lost interest the moment I saw “cumin” but I wouldn’t refuse a sample since one never knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

Small amounts are fine, and I love coriander.
