It's Friday and it's World Monkey Day! Our (monkey-free) community project for today: wear a fragrance by Dame Perfumery, Dawn Spencer Hurwitz, Divine or DS & Durga, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter D.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm still out of town, and so have no access to any of my D fragrances. Zero points for me! But I smell awfully good in Aftelier Candide, day 5.
Reminder: on 12/21 we're doing What's your number...wear a perfume with a number in the name, if you have one. Suggested by thegoddessrena.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m in Dame Cactus Orchid, which was a sample I hadn’t tried yet. This is in the form of a perfume oil, although they have it as an EDT. I’m not really getting anything other than the oil base. I should have gone with one of my faves from this house, like Dark Horse or New Musk Man, but I wanted to stick with an untouched sample. Oh well…
gosh, this one is my favorite of theirs! sorry it’s not working for you.
Dark Horse is probably my Dame favorite, love it in the fall!
Hi all – happy Friday! Today’s SOTD is Alessandro Dell’ Acqua, a beautiful herbal dry floral with Geranium, coriander, sweet pea, peony with incense, sandalwood/musk dry down. One of my favorites!
I love that one, it’s really under the radar.
You too! I’m so surprised more people don’t know about it. I always love how I feel when I’m wearing it, it’s so uplifting.
Happy Friday to you too!
SOTD is DSH Lumiere. This is supposed to be a coffee scent, but I never seem to get coffee from it, What I do get is a warm, spicy scent with a note that makes me think of candle wax, which I find quite appropriate for the Christmas season.
And cardamom – do you get that, too? I do.
Sounds nice, I’ll have to try it. Hopefully, I’ll get both coffee and cardamom from it.
SotD = Dyptique Tam Dao
Welp, at least Dyptique starts with D. My last name does too, so I couldn’t bear to miss trying to get in sync with today’s theme. At school my little students sometimes can’t say my last name, so I tell them they can call me “Mrs. D.” I like it when they do that.
My week has been completely nuts, feeling relieved and so glad it’s FriYAY (hi Jada!), and can’t wait to read what everyone chooses for today. I’m going to dig out my Dame samples this afternoon and have a quiet solo sniff-a-thon.
I love Dyptique’s Tam Dao, you smell wonderful!
Speaking of, I have Dame New Musk Oil, it’s one of my favorite musk scents.
thanks, SmokeyToes! I love Tam Dao more each time I try it. I have a sample and will be sad when it runs out. It’s on the FB wishlist tho!
I recently tried the very popular Santal 33 and found it to be about half as good as Tam Dao. TD deserves more respect!
It does! Have you tried Life Essence by Fendi? It has a beautiful herbal/sandalwood note.
Oooh, I will look for it.
hear! hear! When I reached for Tam Dao at a Nordies perfume counter the SA actually tried to get me to put it down and try something else! It’s a beautiful scent.
thank you, KellyC!
You smell lovely Mrs. D!
aw, shucks! you make me smile!
I’d be interested in hearing what you think of the various Dames in your possession.
I enjoy Black Flower Mexican Vanilla and Dark Horse. I was surprised when I tried them!
The floral eaux line, like Lime, Gardenia & Benzoin, don’t work for me even though I am a floral girl at heart. They smell harsh on my skin, but that’s just me.
tiffanie, I hope you are having a relaxing evening, and are enjoying your sniffa!
Wearing the last drops of my fb of DSH Cafe Noir. The opening has a gorgeous coffee flavored brandy note with lots of cinnamon. Few minutes later it calms down to spices and vanilla. A spicy coffee perfume which is so warm and delicious. If I were not on a
“no-buy” commitment I would replace this bottle, but there are so many other beauties waiting for me on my collection.
Happy Friday everyone!
It is! ?
Wow! Congratulations on your full bottle thunk!!!
That sounds wonderful!
Another DSH I need to try. Coffee, brandy, cinnamon, vanilla = yum!
It is worth trying. I hope you have the chance to sample it!
Congrats on the FB THUNK! It was loved and used up. ?
Thank you! I really loved it and enjoyed it!
You smell wonderful, twin!
Dame Dark Horse today. I’ve missed this one! (I guess that’s the downside to having a gazillion perfumes you love.)
I know what you mean. I was almost going to choose this one today, too. Sounds like it has a few fans here!
Wore that the other day- you smell great!
You know, I have really not dipped into DSH at all, and I’m not sure why – she gets a lot of love. I must remedy this. Ha, and I’m already reconsidering my 2019 no buy. I’m wearing her Cordial today, and loving it.
I love Chinchilla (and am wearing it now) but I haven’t tried others because her website is a little overwhelming! At least she offers lots of sizes.
There are 17 shopping days left in December. Your no buy starts in 2019, right? Plus, discount code which is good through sometime in January – sparkle2018 (must use l/c).
Oh no, there goes my December budget. Thanks for the coupon code, enabler!
No points for me (again), but of course I have an excuse. I’ve been lemming after Olfactive Studio Autoportrait for months and not being able to find it anywhere. But yesterday I got an email saying it was back in stock at LuckyScent, and I pounced immediately. Celebrating today in Autoportrait from my dwindling, tiny sample, and have a philosophical question: does a thunk count as a thunk if one has simultaneously ordered a FB of the same scent?
Yes, it should still count–but maybe it’s a softer thunk? ;). And when you finish the new bottle, that will be another thunk!
I would say that anything you fi nish is a “thunk”. But this will be a mini one!
Yay! Happy for your FB score. The sample thunk counts in my book.
Yes it counts in my book
Congrats on your full bottle purchase..doing a happy dance for you
You’re all very kind – thanks everyone! I’ll try not to feel guilty about thunking (or not, as the case may be).
A little late to weigh in, but I think your “thunk” counts!
I am wearing Damien Bash Lucifer No. 3 from a sample (thunk!), for partial credit. It starts as a light scent, but then it turns into a rich mix of frankincense and myrrh. I like it.
Considering the name of the scent, its main notes and the fact that now is mid-December, Christmas with the Devil by Spinal Tap could be a good musical match for this scent.
Oh, and my SOTD has a number in the name, so I begin the next week’s CP early (CP crossover again).
Wow, forgot all about Damien Bash! I do not know if they are even still in business.
Disappointed, because I had my CP entry all planned and then couldn’t find it (DSH Gingembre). I’ll look for it tomorrow when I have more time and participate belatedly.
However, I did grab my Guerlain Angelique Noire decant for no points other than smelling wonderful.
Angelique Noire is always a good choice. You smell great.
Thanks. I am enjoying it.
Finally cool and cloudy enough to bring out the Yatagan. No Ds reside here.
Yatagan is so right for the holiday season, you smell wonderful.
In the lightest spritz of Mac’s LaDy Danger for partial credit. I’m hoping to get to the gym later, and DSH’s Chinchilla applied in the AM is Chincilla applied all day—but it will be my après la douche scent.
I think you get extra credit for 2 Ds plus gym!
I’m in a tiny spritz of DSH’s Chinchilla, my favorite discovery of last year. Getting ready to take a whining child to the pediatrician due to ear ache – wish me luck!
Hope all will be well. Ear ache isnt fun. Sadly DSH is hard to get here, Sounds like something i would like
I hope all is well soon – for you and child! You smell great.
Wishing you good luck and a quick end to the ouch!
Good luck! Earaches are definitely no fun, for kiddo or parent.☹️
Thanks all. The doctor thinks she has a double cold (i.e. two colds at once), a thing I did not know could happen. She’s resting now and will hopefully feel better soon.
Happy Friday! Wearing DSH Inner Sanctum, a long time favorite. Dark rose and incense, opulent and gorgeous.
That sounds wonderful! Added to the sample list. ?
Last dregs of Dusita Issara for partial credit. Nice while it lasted and I especially like like the drydown. There’s a weird point in the earlier stages that’s has a vegetable chewiness that I don’t love.
I have DS&Durga Debaser but wasn’t feeling it with the weather today.
I too am in Dusita, namely Douceur de Siam.
I have a sample of that one as well. How do you like it? It goes a bit sour on me.
It is pretty-but-fleeting. Usually the latter is a deal-breaker, but I could not resist, and I found a back-up bottle at a good price during the sales.
Elisa P, I did see your latest comment from last night. Maybe the other cats are hissing due to Pixel’s sutures? I was told to look out for the possibility of a bit of bleeding for the first day or two.
DSH Habibi, a gorgeous orange blossom fragrance with saffron and oud.
That sounds great, I haven’t tried that one.
I love that one!
A large dose of Ds & Durga Freetrapper, à la chocolatemarzipan. I scored a big bottle on ebay really cheap, so I am spritzing with wild abandon. Happy Friday!
Haha ! I am glad to have inspired you to spray lavishly.
I love Freetrapper, you smell amazing!
I went with L’ame Souer by Divine for this week’s cp. It is beautiful but more sophisticated than I feel today. ?
I wore L’âme sour yesterday, it’s very sophisticated and I’m sure you are far more sophisticated than you give yourself credit for.
We are house twins as I’m wearing L’éternel feminin by Divine. The extrait version of the original Divine.
Stupid autocorrect: it’s l’âme sœur!
Hey house twin! I almost wore L’ame soeur but the sprayer on my decant was stuck. You smell beautiful!
Thank you for your kind words but I truly am a country girl at heart who just happens to love to wear great perfume.
So am I really, in as much as one can be in my densely populated country.
I remember buying my little bottle of L’âme in Paris a couple of years ago. The Divine shops are utterly delightful and not at all snobbish.
House Triplets! I dug out my box of Divine samples, and I am in L’etre Aime Femme. So elegant. I do not know why I don’t have a full bottle of at least one of these scents; I find them all very satisfying.
House quads or quints! (Not sure which at this point.)
I’m wearing the wonderful DSH Coeur de Vanille. It’s a non-sweet boozy vanilla that turns spicy mid-development. Sadly it’s no longer offered on her website, but in the past she’s stated to contact her if there’s a perfume you’re interested in that isn’t in the site. Since I still have 10-15ml of this one and 500,000 other perfumes (approximately ?), I’ll probably be fine with what I have.
I read comments from yesterday this morning and want to assure everyone that in the case of the short notice I was given to meet a deadline at work, it was only due to my coworker taking on more than she could manage and not my company taking advantage of me. While piling lots of work on the most capable workers does happen at times, I work for a pretty good company and boss. I’m very lucky! A big project I’m on is winding down so I did have the capacity to pitch in and get things done, though I wish she had thought to ask me for help sooner.
Good to hear that your work load seems to be at a reasonable level right now.
Thanks, I’m glad too!
And this morning was ? jam in the shower and one spray of ? jam on one wrist with ? Cassis paradis from 1000 Flowers on the other for science…sorta similar but the latter is jucier and lasted much longer
Ohhhhhhh this sounds wonderful! I love perfumes with black currant in them.
How’s the longevity?
Pretty darn good even on my scent devouring skin!! It’s a fantastic rose!!!
Not participating in the community project today. I am in my Andy Tauer Noontide Petals. It was really horrible at work yesterday. The opener stood around and did absolutely nothing, our new girl didn’t do much at all. That meant I had to do everything and still needed to get someone from another department to help out. I swear that dead people could accomplish more. I am happy that I have a actual help in my department today. Good thing I am off tomorrow and Sunday to relax and finish my Christmas shopping.
Sorry yesterday was such a bad work day. Hope today is better!
Sorry about the crappy day yesterday. You smell great!
Ugh, may the rest of the season go much better for you!
Dawn, hope it is a wonderful weekend off!
Wearing my favourite Divine, the original Divine. In extrait de parfum which is has been given the lovely name of L’éternel feminin. I would love a bloke to wear this though, like Fracas.
So glad it’s Friday. The short days are taking their toll, but only a few more weeks to go before they’ll start getting longer again.
Yeah I made a joke today about the sun rising just before lunch and the sunset being around 3 PM (even though it is actually around 4:30 PM), but it really feels that way right?
And I get your Divine/Fracas-for-guys-wish.
More men need to wear tuberose/big white flower scents! (Thinking of Sarrasins right now…).
Would love to see Divine in a shower gel, or something close to it.
There is a body cream. Which is very nice. I once got a sample. But no shower gel.
The body cream sounds lovely, but I take forever to use up things like that.
Wearing Slinky Carnation, my custom DSH scent
It doesn’t get better than that! Pretty sure if the CP offered prizes, you’d be the winner??
And the winner for having a large number of CPs attached to her name ? including next week’s.
And I’m pretty sure everyone can guess what my favorite release of the year is (for the project after next)!
LOL ? ?
No points for me. I was convinced I had no D-scents… completely forgetting about the delicious decant of Tempo that the fabulous hajusuuri sent me earlier this year was from Diptyque. I’ll wear it tomorrow instead.
Today, I am mostly smelling of Rozy VdP, roast chicken, relief, Feliway, vet smells, gratitude, and warm cat… as I finally got to bring my moggy Herschel home after 5 days with the vets. With some fantastic care, she’s survived a collapse caused by acute pancreatitis and extra kidney issues that joined in for the no-fun party and is now well enough again to recuperate at home.
Aww, so sorry your kitty went through all that! I’m sure she’s ecstatic to be home! Best wishes sent her way! Smelling good in your lovely Vero??
thank you! It’s nice to see her being able to relax again.
Wishing a complete recovery to your cat, you must have been so worried.
awww, so sorry to hear about your kitty cat. ((hugs))
Sending hugs to you and loving pets and a speedy recovery for Herschel.
Glad your kitty is on the mend!
Glad your kitty is back home! Hoping for continued progress for her.
Hope your kitty recovers soon. Sending healing vibes!
Oh no, your poor kitteh! I hope that her recovery is an easy one now that she’s back home.
I’m wearing DSH’s Become the Shaman. Alrighty then, don’t mind if I do!
In case any of you is overwhelmed by Dawn’s website, when I first started exploring the line I found searching by note useful. Recently, there’s also a series of reviews on the blog “take one thing off” based on scent families which is beautifully written and quite helpful as well.
How are you feeling about wearing perfume again on a regular basis after going a full year without it?
I don’t know if I’ll continue on a regular basis! I was gifted with a buncha perfume in November and am enjoying exploring those when the spirit moves me to do so. Since many were from DSH, I pulled out all of hers that I already own so I guess I now have a school of DSH swimming together in The Sample Sea. If one swims into my consciousness, I’ll wear it.
Well the DSH ones are generally beautiful so you picked a good house to start with !
I looooove Become the Shaman. Best use of palo santo I’ve tried so far.
Oh yay! I love it too! Palo santo can often veer off into an uncomfortable minty realm which always perplexes me in what is supposed to be a sacred ceremonial material. I liked sampling Carner Barcelona’s Palo Santo, but don’t recall that it actually smelled of its namesake.
An “Ace Ventura, Pet Detective” quote up there???? ?
You caught that! ?
Oh yes! It was one of my brother’s favorite movies back in the day. I got to hear a LOT of quotes from him….
I like this version from “When Nature Calls” :
Believe it or not, I just discovered there’s a ten hour video of this on YT.
You’ve just given me hope and courage to navigate the website!
I’m still in my one single spray of l’Elephant from yesterday. I burrowed under the covers last night and enjoyed my own personal tent of rapturous fragrance!
After the PO refused my overnight delivery (Why? WHY?!?), I was able to talk with the knowledgeable and helpful folks at FedEx, who told me what truck my delivery was on and that is had just returned to the distribution center. I hightailed it over there and finally got my van tags!! Don’t have drivers license, SS card, or CC’s, but now I can LEAVE! So that’s what I’m doing today, as soon I get a few last minute things completed. Leaving and never coming back??
In other good news, my recruiter was able to arrange for a phone call between myself and the unit manager at the hospital in Oregon where I was submitted earlier for the incorrect position. The end result was, “Sure, we can get you on days!”
So I AM headed back there after all. It’s only for 10 weeks, but what a relief! These last couple of weeks have been a wild ride. Thanks to everyone who offered encouraging words. I love perfume, but the main reason I continue to read and comment here is because the PEOPLE here are the kindest ever. Happy Holidays to ALL and for those that are struggling right now, please remember to read NST everyday to get your fix of “Good.” It really does help get you through some bumpy times. ✌?
Well put, scent twin. Happy Holidays to you.
Two great bits of news! Hurrah! So glad your escape route is all set after all that nonsense. Safe travels for your and your lovely pupling.
So glad for you that you are heading back to Oregon afterall. Wishing you a good trip on your way there.
That’s great news, Deva. Happier times ahead!
Thats such great news! Things come in ‘threes’; maybe get yourself a lottery ticket!
So happy for you Deva!!?
Great news! You are right about this community…I feel like we’ve all joined along for your horrible, broken down roller coaster ride. And thrilled you’re able to get off safely.
You are making me think I need to sniff Elephant…
Oh, good news, Deva. I don’t post often but I do follow your adventures and am glad they appear to be on the upswing after the disastrous last few weeks. Best wishes for a wonderful year ahead for you and your pup.
That is great news, and yes this community is about so much more than perfume.
Safe travels and give T Rex a hug from me (i love ALL your great pics on Instagram but the ones with T Rex on it instantly make my day
Hallelujah! Glad to hear the great news!
Zippity doo dah! Excellent news. So happy you are heading back to Oregon to a better position. Deep breaths and big smiles.
Oh, yay! Glad things are looking up!
Wonderful news! Safe travels to you and T-Rex!
WHOO HOOO! Awesome news! Fair weather and smooth roads to mark your journey. ??
Yippee!! I’m doing a happy dance for you! Time to boogie on down the road! ?
Wonderful news, Deva!
Congratulations Deva- that is great news! I am so happy that you can leave all that bad energy behind you.
I cant wait to hear all about your next adventure, and hope your license & credit cards are easier to obtain in Oregon.
What a nice Christmas finish to a really rough month. You are so right about this happy place.
Dame Monsoon for the CP! It’s nice but a little too “clean” for me. Have my work holiday party this evening and will change into something a little sultrier.
House twin! Have fun at your holiday party.?
DSH Rubj for me today!
Great CP Robin, and I am soooooo jealous of your Aftelier Candide!!!
Did you know that you can special order it if you want 2 FB’s?
……I am IN for ONE….just sayin’
HA! But you know she will special order even one
Yikes – That’s Vero Kern NOT DSH! I really do need my reading glasses when I reach into my stash box.
I did love the tuberose.
I’m wearing vintage Coco EDT. C is next to D. Close enough.
Vintage EDT is my favorite concentration too, you smell great.
I finally got atomisers to decant the splash bottle into. I must say spraying vs dabbing doth make the difference. I get a lot more of the spicy, middle notes vs the massive rose. I wore a lot ot Coco as a wee lassie in the 90s. Any current reformulation is a sacrilege . . . even the colour of the juice is lighter *brr*.
Oh, yes I agree there is some difference spraying instead of dabbing, like you it’s the spices that stand out in the EDT, especially the lovely clove note.
Coco is one of the few Chanels that I love.
But one of my co-workers wears it as her signature scent so it always reminds me of work. Hahha (she is really elegant/classy and kind woman though…just the kind of person you want to be associated with Coco).
Good morning everyone! Im in DSH Cafe Noir from a sample, and it is YUM.
I hope your Friday goes smoothly, NSTers! ?
Hi twin! We smell great! ?
Yes, we do. ?
Not really participating as I am devoid of the required Ds. Wearing Dana Tabu so a micro point but really I was just craving to wear it on a cold day, not really work appropriate so this morning application was light but this evening I topped it up and enjoying it.
Hey, definitely partial credit! Dana is no longer a big concern anyway.
Thank you Robin. In any case Tabu worked a treat, it’s a lovely little, about 30 ml bottle – all I need – with lotion written on it, so it’s quite an older version.
Since yesterday was Hot Cocoa day and today is Dame Perfumery day, I’ve chosen his Chocolate Man in oil form layered over BBW’s new Hot Cocoa and Cream, and I must say, I smell delicious! Later, I’ll add Black Flower Mexican Vanilla to the mix . . . Mmmmmm! I sometimes feel that there are only 5 corporations that own every single business in the world, and so I look for every opportunity to support small businesses. Jeffrey’s attention to detail, generosity with samples, and lovely fragrances that work with my chemistry, coupled with the contributions from his other family members, make me a strong supporter. I have several full bottles but probably have a sample of every one of his scents, thanks to his generosity.
We may have to change Little Bear’s name soon, as she’s growing by leaps and bounds (as well as in her ability to leap and bound!) and is no longer roly-poly and bearlike. Instead she is long and sleek with a very shiny, very black coat and resembles a young panther. Except for the little white star at the base of her throat and the sometimes crazed look in her eyes – which makes her look like Bad Kitty incarnate! If you’re not familiar with Nick Bruel’s hilarious books, I urge you to check them out – although geared for children, any adult who’s ever known a ‘bad’ kitty will smile! My grandkids, at age 11, like to act his stories out, complete with ‘bad kitty’ sound effects.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead and sending hugs to all in need of one!
I bet you do smell delicious! I get a note of chocolate from BFMV, so I bet it will layer well with the BBW.
Lalia Amen to what you said. I have little discretionary income with two at university and one more to go next year but any perfume purchase I make I would rather support indie lines if I can. We have a multitude of Dames around the house ( and as an aside he just launched a new line) but I also really love the fragrances of Jessica September Buchanan of 1000 Flowers and Diane St. Clair of St. Clair Scents. SSS was also a n indie I adored.
Your not so Little Bear sounds like what my Spooky kitty looks like. Except that as a kitten, Spooky had HUGE ears compared to the rest of her head. She did eventually grow into them.
Guerlain Jicky for me today — a few good sprays. I really do love this scent
No tea today?
You smell great
Silly me, I forgot — pomegranate green tea
Meharées again for comfort. No point for the CP, dont have any… Cozy dinner with boyfriend. Avgolemono soup for dinner. Tomorrow hoping go visit the Christmas Market nearby for mulled wine etc.
FIls de Dieu in the evening, getting more of the shiso and herbs than in the summer, when its more vanilla rice pudding.
At the moment i am craving vanilla for comfort. Will continue as long as i have to…
Enjoy the market and mulled wine tannina!
Hi everyone, I didn’t have time to comment yesterday, my Friday, but I did make best efforts and wore Miss Dior, from the very not-smallish house starting with D. I discovered a colleague used to wear Miss Dior years ago, so that was a very pleasant office conversation.
I’m still lingering perfume-free over breakfast, and contemplating the supermarket shopping.
The original Miss Dior in vintage form has been a favorite of mine for many years. There’s probably even a bit left to accompany your breakfast time, I know on me I could always smell a trace of it many hours later.
Saturday and another drab, cloudy day…hopeless summer down here so far. The linden/lime trees are just flowering. What a beautiful scent …the smell of Christmas for me. Jm Lime Blossom to match.
Mmm, you smell wonderful, as do the flowers. Grey and overcast here on the Pacific coast as well.
Same kind of weather that cazaubon is describing out here on the East Coast today. Bleah.
Well, the Texas coast is cold, windy and gray as well!
Love French Lime Blossom, you smell so pretty, you know it has recently been discontinued, can’t figure why as it had been around since the 1990’s.
I’m a little bit broken-hearted that the KFC yule logs sold out so quickly. I don’t know that I would have bought one, but I certainly would have sniffed the wrapper–deeply. Ah, well, I’m more of a Popeye’s person anyway. Maybe next year. And please, someone, make a Wendy’s chili log?? With cheese and onions.
Finally, finally, I can smell again after a cold that lasted nearly 2 weeks. I’m participating today in DSH Oeillets Rouges, but what I really want to wear is 24, Faubourg. I will save that for tonight’s attendance at a performance of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio.
How’s the DSH? I do love a good carnation…
Enjoy the performance. That sounds lovely.
OR is very spicy. I don’t get much carnation, but that’s okay.
I found it sweet and spicy and the spicy is carnation spicy to my nose. The travel spray of it I got gummed up 3 different atomizers.
You smell lovely, so glad you are feeling better! Enjoy the concert.
Hooray for feeling better! ?✨?
I love Wendy’s chili but hold the cheese. I buy 2 every time I get my haircut and eat one over 2 or 3 meals and freeze the other one to eat within a month when I have limited options.
Dame Earth Mother.
This morning it was sooo gray and cloudy here, so I went to see the new Clint Eastwood movie. When I came out of the theater a couple hours later, Boom! blue skies and sun!? The kind of blue where there is literally not a cloud in the sky. It was like magic. Maybe from now on when it is crummy out, I should just go the the movies.?
Perhaps it wasn’t just ‘magic’ after all . . . perhaps it was Earth Mother working her ‘magic.’ I love this one – it gives me a sense of strength and confidence and yet comfort at the same time.
I think Earth Mother is my favorite of the Dame scents that I have tried so far.
SOTD = DSH Scent of Hope
Full credit here. Scent of Hope is rooty Iris at its best!
I will be perusing the DSH website in preparation for making a purchase!
Yucky damp day in these here parts and the outlook is not looking any better. 4 more days of work and then I’m off until January 4th and back to work on the 7th!
Count down those days!
Congrats on your FB purchase..
I will be purchasing a number of “samples” although not of Scent of Hope since I already have a FB.
I think the discount code is not applicable on Scent of Hope (probably materials cost too much to offer a discount). Sounds great though! Yay for upcoming vacation!!
I’ll be buying other travel sizes. I already have a FB of Scent of Hope which was a “big sample” when it first came out ?
Are you getting one lovely thing from DSH, or a grab bag of goodies?
I’m thinking a bunch of travel sizes.
Thank you all so much for all the kind and caring comments last week.
This is such a great community
Today I had a day off. I wore Bois d’Encens by Armani (from a sample), took a walk in the woods. It was sunny and freezing, the leaves were covered in frost, it was beautiful and soothing. And the scent was a good companion.
Now I am sampling Hyde, by Hiram Green. Dark and smoky wood, with honey and spices. Perfect for cold weather. But at the moment it feels like its wearing me instead of the other way around haha. I think one spray will do next time (i applied generously this afternoon).
Hyde was huge on me. Definitely a one spritz scent. Bois d’Encens on the other hand is a big favourite, perfect for a walk in the woods.
Bois d’Encens is great for meditation and walks in the woods.
I have the original Divine on today (just like austenfan). The sun is out where I am and it has me enjoying all of the big flowers in Divine even more.
Hiya, scent triplet!
And another twin!
It feels good that we are wearing this lovely fragrance.
Not on topic with yet another day of Stash body lotion. I was going to layer with something else, then remembered that I have a strict no scent rehearsal tonight and decided against.
Anyway, I finally made my fragrancenet purchase so back to report to everyone – I really appreciated all the suggestions. I ended up getting cheapo, cheapo frags for both girls as stocking stuffers – Moschino Funny for 11 year old, CK Truth for 13 year old (this has been compared to Champaca – can’t wait to sniff!). Plus a bottle of L’instant pour homme for dh. Turns out – this got me to free shipping so I got no extra anything for myself
CK Truth is one of a select group of perfumes that I have bought more than once. I still have and enjoy the last bottle I purchased.
Like you I really like Truth, green goodness in a bottle.
TGIF for sure! It’s always a little disconcerting to hear the buzz of a news helicopter over your quiet suburban neighborhood. Wonder what’s going on? ?
SOTD = Divine EdP by Divine, from the decant stash. I’m scent triplets with Mary Carol and austenfan. Divine has some shared traits with Fracas to me… both are voluptuous, Grande Dames of scent. I likes!
I have the same feeling of unease to noise from the sky which is probably due more to the air activity in lower Manhattan in the aftermath of 9-11.
Last time there was a news helo in my area, there was a major accident on one of the highways close by, like a mile or so. I didn’t hear any sirens this afternoon, though.
We live fairly close to a regional trauma center. And those life flight copters coming in low and slow at night never fail to freak me out. ?
Just a quick report, since I’m exhausted now from company, shopping, and PT. I don’t have any of the D scents, so this morning I chose Parfums Delrae Panache. It’s a bit too understated, so tonight I’ve switched to the wondrous Amoureuse. Later tonight will be a Christmas lights tour and then Mexican restaurant dinner. I’ll read everyone’s comments later.
I have been too busy this year and not seen a single holiday light display — hope to rectify that this week! Enjoy your tour & night out.
You smell amazing Smokeytoes, Amoureuse is dreamy!!
Opps I meant Calypso- did you change your avatar!
I was so tickled this morning then I remembered the challenge! I wore DSH Vert pour Madame, and I smelled beautiful on this oddly warm and humid December day In NJ.
