Wednesday scent of the day 11/7

Posted by Robin on 7 November 2018 253 Comments

Hump Day, plus Stress Awareness Day (check) plus Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day (to help with the stress). What fragrance are you wearing?

Me: off season again, in CB I Hate Perfume On A Clear Day You Can See Forever. I smell fantastic.

Reminder: on 11/9, wear a fragrance by Carthusia, CB I Hate Perfume, Comptoir Sud Pacifique or Czech & Speake, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter C.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Considered CSP Abricot Vanille but then went for Boucheron Jaipur, the better apricot.

And hey, I’m aware of stress every day!

I am not familiar with your scent, Robin, but this picture fits the scent’s name perfectly.

I am wearing Carthusia Capri Forget Me Not for the first time.
It is a very fresh and green blend of aromatic and citrus notes. The opening is brilliant – it smells as if I took a handful of grass, aromatic herbs and lemon peel and rubbed all of this against my skin. Sadly the scent loses a lot of its juiciness as it dries. Very nice, although I still prefer Mediterraneo.

I don’t think I ever got around to trying Forget Me Not, so glad if Mediterraneo is better.

Hiris today, from an older bottle. I didn’t like this one the first few times I tried it, but I’ve warmed to it now.

Blessedly off from work today but sadly didn’t get to sleep in. I’ll have to find time for a nap later. :)

Happy Diwali to all those who celebrate. May the divine light of Diwali spread into your life Peace, Prosperity, Happiness and Good Health!

I am torn on my SOTD since I got my split package yesterday and I want to pick one for Diwali tonight.

I have Jul et Mad Nin-Sha on one wrist
and Mendittorosa Le Mat on the other.
I will decide later but am more than happy if anyone wants to chose for me.

Bittersweet chocolate is the best! with Almonds or plain or with anything. I have a bar in my fridge always! 2-4 squares a day!

    CBIHP North Atlantic.
As someone who lives in the middle of the North Atlantic, I originally ordered this decant out of idle curiosity. This scent actually does quite a good job of representing the cold, grey Atlantic Ocean.

    Gorgeous photo!

EdG feels icy cool this morning, bracing, very refreshing.

I always have dark chocolate covered almonds from Trader Joe’s on hand. They do help with stress, unless I eat too many, then the chocolate makes my heart race. Too much is never enough with some things!

SOT(Y)D was JM’s English Pear and Freesia. I was a bit hesitant to wear it because freesia is one of my least favorite notes, but I was pleasantly surprised with it, it was actually one of the nicer scents I have used in a while. The other notes blended nicely together with the freesia, it was very well done.
Not sure what I will wear today. Perhaps some Euphoria? It depends on my mood. :)

Haha. Yes. Something to celebrate is when we are less aware of our stress! But it is true that whole communities live under massive levels of stress that is hardly acknowledged by themselves or anyone else. Sigh! And now I just feel stressed . . .

Lovely photo, Robin. I do miss fall colors, we don’t really have them here where I live. Except for one lone aspen that someone planted way across the canyons, it is a lovely spike of gold in a sea of dark green.

Happy Birthday to me! That’s more of a wish than a reality. Taking kitty to the vet for chemo this morning, taking husband in to the doctor for checkup & PT this afternoon. 2018 can’t end fast enough. Yeah I’m aware of stress. And I’ll take some dark chocolate for that later, though I’ll pass on the almonds.

I think I’ll declare a second birthday in a few months. When it might actually be fun :)

No scent yet with all these medical visits. Maybe this evening.

Glorious day here: 59 and sunny. Morning got off to a bumpy start when I grabbed my work bag, got halfway to the subway and kept smelling cat pee, realized it was coming from me!! My boy cat peed in my work bag ???? Had to go back home and find the only other bag that fits my stuff which is a messenger bag I take to the beach, so it had some sand in the bottom and the remnants of some chocolate that melted in there. I’m a one bag kinda person, but I think I need to invest in BUBs.
Anyway, SOTD is MDCI CIO Cio San, cheerful cherry blossom that smells like Rose candy and matches my heathered raspberry sweater.

We recently acquired my FILs dog and I made the mistake of putting the dog treats in the same cabinet as the cat food. My cat, who is normally very good, sprayed my lower cabinets when I wasn’t looking. I doused the cabinets with Nature’s Miracle and washed everything with white vinegar. I learned my lesson moved the dog treats to another room entirely. It sounds funny but I feel your pain. ????????

Your actual scent sounds lovely. Cherry blossom!

I feel your pain…your bag brings back memories of my husband’s cat Fiona. She peed on anything left on the floor. We had to warn all visitors. She ruined many bags and suitcases before we figured it out. (She was basically telling him that he travelled too much).

But…because I adored Fiona (even when she’d give me these looks saying “he’s mine” as she sat on my husband’s chest) this made me smile. So thanks for that. But I am sorry….

One of the lovely things about walking in the graveyard is that at this time of year the birds are staking out territories so you walk through very specific sound zones from top to bottom. In the native bush at the top is a shining cuckoo with a long rise and fall whistle. Next comes the kingfisher high up in a pine tree making a sharp peeping. The kowhai trees below belong to the nectar feeders, the tui and bellbird. Chafffinches and seed feeders are in the silver birch. As i get closer to the grass there are thrush and blackbirds…all singing loudly. I hardly ever see some of the birds…have only seen a shining cuckoo once in my life…but I hear their calls and it is such a pleasure to map out my walk in terms of bird calls. So e days is is loud, a real chorus. It’s a bit of a shame that so many people keep their ear buds in and don’t pause and listen. A small dab of The Yard Next Door , dark morning, heavy rain.

What a lovely image. It reminded me of being out for a walk the other day and passing by some bushes where there must have been hundreds of birds singing away. It was so loud and cheerful it made me giggle and smile at strangers. I couldn’t see a single bird in there though, just heard them. I do wish I was more knowledgeable about our feathered friends, I have no idea what type they were.

Casmir! Day 2. It smelled so good yesterday, I decided to wear it again today. I may just wear it again tomorrow. I’m down to the last couple mls in my bottle, and I gotta say, that bottle design is a very poor one for trying to spray the last few drops. I’ve tried to take the sprayer completely off, but it is tight. Might need some pliers.

It is dreary here. Again.???? I was off work yesterday and basically drank coffee and tea all day. I finished reading Gone Girl (I know, late to the party on that one) and then binge watched some amazon prime. Feeling equally uninspired today. I need some sun. Bad!

Well, at least I smell good.????

Pawed through but couldn’t find the Carthusia sample I was seeking. I know there is one hiding somewhere around here. I’ll keep looking.

So, I finished a sample of Bas de Soie but then followed up with Boyfriend. Just not feeling it.

Minor stress… Asked the husband to go online to get our tickets to see Trouble With Angels on the big screen this weekend (fabulous Hayley Mills, Roz Russell movie.). Site was showing it was sold out! I was so disappointed. But as he looked further, we decided it was a glitch so called box office. Not sold out. Tried again. Got ‘em! I love this movie and have never seen it in a theater.

Saw “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” With Melissa McCarthy yesterday. It was good but a bit difficult. She plays someone quite unlikeable. McCarthy was very, very good in it. Most good comedians can do straight roles.

I’m still commando but got an idea from up above. It’s ridiculously warm still here in Houston–got up to 86 yesterday, with the same predicted for today. A big front will come through tomorrow, bringing rain and perhaps hail, and cool things down by 20 or 30 degrees. Nothing moderate for Texas! At least it’s pretty and sunny out. It’s got the plants deceived though—I’m seeing magnolia trees in bloom again, and azaleas, too.

Hello all! On theme again today – CSP Matin Calin from a very old sample that must have come with a swap. Smells like caramel, slightly milky.

I always enjoy my chocolate dark and with almonds, but not quite bittersweet (though lately it has been the kids’ Halloween candy, which is more milk chocolate ;) Don’t tell!) . Favorite is Chocolove Almonds & Sea Salt in dark chocolate (55%). 65% is probably my dark chocolate limit.

Hello all. Tam Dao today, because I just needed its steadiness and serenity. Got romantically rejected once again this past weekend, and just feeling ready to give up on trying in that area of my life (dating in New York is miserable). So the comfort of Tam Dao is doing what it can, and I appreciate it.

I hope everyone has a good day.

My theory is that there is so much selection in NY that people have ridiculously over the top expectations, which leads to perfectly wonderful people like you being rejected. It’s not you, that’s for sure. You are smelling wonderful in Tam Dao.

I have decided to combat my stress by purchasing a Hermes scarf. I blame NST since I would have never set foot in the Hermes boutique had it not been for the perfumes! Since I can’t justify buying new, it’s my fun, de-stressing distraction to hunt around online.

Just put on some Pulp after volunteering at the humane society this morning. One of the kittens had a very upset stomach and I got covered in poo. So did his littermates, the kennel, and the cat bed. I came home and took a shower but the odor is still in my nose ( I already checked my shoes and they are clean).

A couple of the stressors that had been bothering me are gone today! Just to be sure, though, I tucked into some dark chocolate with almonds that I happened to have in my chocolate stash. Hopefully a few more things that have been bothering me will be dealt with in the next week or so. ????????????

SOTD = back to playing in the sample stash with FM Superstitious and a swap partner here at NST. This definitely smells like a “grown-up” perfume to me. I seem to have grown into liking aldehydes during my sniffing explorations. I did NOT like them at all in the beginning.

Wearing Auphorie Mayura. I actually like it a lot more than other big animalic/floral chypres I’ve tried like Au Dela and Vol de Nuit — to me the freshness/sweet-tropical aspect of the flowers and even the overthe top skankiness make it feel more modern and wearable. Or maybe it’s just skin chemistry. Anyway highly recommended try for anyone who likes that kind of thing.
