Wednesday scent of the day 10/10

Posted by Robin on 10 October 2018 221 Comments

Hump Day and World Mental Health Day. What fragrance are you wearing?

I picked Aedes de Venustas Copal Azur for Nebulas Blue. It's also helping to keep me calm while my computer acts up.

Reminder: on 10/12, wear a fragrance that evokes one of Pantone's colors for Fall 2018.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

SotD = l’air du desert marocain = Ceylon Yellow

Honestly, laddm smells gorgeous. :D I put it on my inner elbows so it will waft up all day from under the long sleeve blue and white Breton stripe top I’m wearing with white chinos. Fie! on no white after Labor Day.

It’s the WHO’s World Mental Health Day!

On my healthy body and brain to do list:

????Wear perfume that lifts me up, check!
♥️Tell my kids I love them, no matter what, check!
⏳Spend time with my mom and dad, tell them I love them
????Call my sister, not just text, tell her I love her
????Call a dear friend I have neglected, tell her I’m sorry and that I love her
????Write in my therapy journal, check!
????Finish knitting a hat for my neighbors’ new baby due in a month
:DJump rope with the kids during recess at the elementary school where I teach music classes
????Laugh and sing with my Kindergarten music students
    ????Walk my lovely neighborhood
????Chat with neighbors who watch out for me
???? Listen to music I love, probably Satie
???? Play the piano for fun, mostly Mozart!
????Eat great chocolate, Lindt dark is on deck
    ????Yoga in the evening
    ????Ignore this list as needed!

Have a healthy day, NSTers. You! are! amazing!

SOTD is L’Ambre des Merveilles. It’s some kind of combination of the olive and Ceylon yellow blocks, with a bit of the russet orange thrown in.

    Hi everyone!

I don’t know if anyone remembers this, but in July I went to a perfume store I hadn’t been to before and saw a perfume that made my heart jump. I couldn’t afford it, though so I didn’t jinx it and didn’t say what it was.

Well yesterday, I went and picked it up: I’m the proud owner of 30ml of the original Champagne, in pure perfume. They probably had had it for 20 years, so I got it for a relative bargain. The presentation box is like nothing I’ve ever seen in person, all gold and red. And oh, it’s heaven! The peach is even more realistic, with a creamier drydown. Needless to say, I’m happy as a clam.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day.

Mental health day – oh lordy, my mental health is on the ropes. I’ve been frantically packing and cleaning to make our annual move south, which was supposed to be today, but after packing the car and cleaning the fridge, husband announces he can’t find his passport. @#& »$+#???? Then while we were stewing about that, I get an email from United they are expecting a storm in Chicago today and I need to rebook my flight. One hour on hold with United (because the online booking system was giving me fits) and I am rebooked for tomorrow. Husband is out getting passport photos and heading to the consulate to try to get a temporary passport today. So, I took advantage of the delay to clean some more, as it is 13C and raining, no day to go outside and enjoy Montreal fall foliage.

Wearing Le Labo Rose 31 and trying to be zen about it all. Please send positive thoughts!

Thanks, yeah I should wear it more often as well.
But somehow I dont feel comfortable wearing it to work though. I feel its perhaps a bit too funky for an office environment, but also, this fragrance feels too beautiful for work (this sounds a bit weird, i know, but i guess it distracts too much haha).

Thinking that a perfume is too beautiful for work makes perfect sense to me. Some scents just aren’t a good fit for that kind of environment.

Back in T-Rex–twice in one week for the same scent is almost unheard of for me–but there’s a lot to pay attention to in this one, and it’s a fun wear.

Also, it’s a truly lovely warm day and I claimed the time to run an errand in town and walk back in the sunshine rather than taking the bus. This just-warm-enough dry weather won’t last, so, playing hooky to enjoy it seemed right.

It is still very much a Zoologist scent–did you see Claire V’s review on Take One Thing Off? So far, I think they are always worth a sniff, even if some of them are very much hard passes for me. (I bought a bottle of Civet, though)

It’s grey out, but warm again, so went with Satori since wearing it under long sleeves will just bury this lovely. Martini Olive looks close…
And I picked up a Sephora sample of Dior Homme edt recently, since when I originally sampled it, I mistakenly got the Eau version which I didn’t love. Anyway, this sample leaked about 1/2 in my bag, so I’m getting delicious cozy wafts periodically. Reminds me of a more masculine version of Prada Id’I Absolue.
Looking forward to sniffing later with fellow NSTers.

It’s a slightly feminine masculine and vice versa, which I guess makes it unisex, lol. How does the parfum compare to the EDT if you’ve tried both?

Dior Homme parfum is a leather take on DH, it reminds me very much of the great Midnight in Paris. Le parfum is also less floral than DH EDT. I acquired the parfum because it was such a great deal and I wear it with pleasure but my absolute favorite is DH intense.

I have the mini of the Oeillet which came in a very charming best of Prada Infusion gift set.I am less than 1/3 through it.

I do think it is discontinued or it is a seasonal production sort of thing.

Here is what I found at FragranceNet:

Without giving them all away immediately, id say most of them make an appearance here on NST on a very regular basis.
(Yes I wear them of course, but so do others).
But Id be surprised if someone recognises even the brands. Some bottles are quite generic.

I’ve ranted a fair bit about my workplace in the past few months, but perhaps the biggest reason I haven’t really made any moves to leave is that I really like my team, and what’s the probability that my next team would be full of people this smart, motivated, and helpful? Low, honestly. I’m feeling pretty resentful of this coworker who’s leaving, which is not how I’d like to spend my last few weeks with him.

Wearing Cuir Cannage, which frankly is even more agitating. I don’t dislike it, but I’m also not sure I like it all that much, and more importantly, it’s distracting.

And lord knows what my experiments are doing. The network seems more stable since I escalated the situation to our director, but now my work is confusing, as if a week’s peace is simply out of the question.

Maybe I’ll leave my desk and go meditate in sunshine for a few minutes.

That sounds like a good plan. Meditation/breathing breaks are usually helpful to me.

If you have any “medicinal” chocolate around, you might want to tuck into some of it.

Sotd is L’attesa. We have a cold front with lots of rain. This is fitting the weather nicely. This week I’m working Monday thru Friday, it feels weird. I am so used to having a day off during the week.

Does this mean you will be getting both weekend days off? If so, enjoy! My area is supposed to get your wet cold front tomorrow. And maybe some other weather stuff as well… forecast keeps evolving. ☔????????

Yep, I get a full proper weekend off! I saw they had snow in Minnesota, that’s whom to blame ???? will be 41 by noon here tomorrow.

Does Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom go well with that Limelight color?

Work is getting tough, so I’m wearing Amouage Lyric: it’s comfort scent to me, but also polished enough for the office, so I don’t just smell like a pastry. And the bottle is pretty much the colour of Red Pear!

Hello, fragrant friends! I didn’t make time to post yesterday, but I wore Jo Loves Green Orange and Coriander, which I think matches Russet Orange. Today I’m in Profumum Acqua di Sale matched with Nebulas Blue. It’s a mentholated, salty seaweed/calone scent. It’s good to have a decant of it, even if I probably won’t wear it very often.

Wearing Goutal’s Gardénia Passion, which I can’t seem to match to any of the colours. I love it anyway.

A little late today. I was stuck listening to the “dulcet” sounds of wood chippers for a large chunk of the afternoon. (Sorry about the unintended pun there.)

SOTD = Oriza L. Legrand Relique d’Amour EdP from the sample stash. I have been happily sniffing myself all day! Wow! This is a beautiful incense scent. Worth trying! No color association at all for this lovely.

It’s so fun when just sniffing yourself can make the day more enjoyable. I love it when that happens ????

Late to post as well. It’s been a busy week with Hurricane Michael and prepping for an interactive presentation in 2 weeks and trying to complete things due at month end. I even had to forego the NYC meetup today.

SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP

It is perfect. None of the Fall Pantone colors match it.

    Commuting Woes No. 602:

Woman standing behind me whose every upper body tic I can see from her reflection on the train window – alternating nostril touching and biting the fingernail of the same finger. Then every fifth time or so, she would hold on to a train pole for a few seconds before repeating the same nose touching biting fingernail pattern. Mental health day indeed!

I’m in ormond Jayne ta’if for red pear.. it’s perfect for a blustery fall evening. It’s alternating between rain and snow and I don’t think the mercury has even hit 40 degrees here. Going to California next week for one last shot of warm before we hit winter here in Jackson Hole. We might hop on a plane to Tokyo for a few days before we come back (I work for an airline) I was reading about all the dirt cheap vintage extraits floating around in Japanese flea markets on the Black Narcissus blog… and I’m dying to get my greedy little hands on some of those goodies!

It’s been a hectic couple of days. Puppygirl had surgery yesterday to remove a growth on her lip, but came through everything okay. She’s much better today, eyes are bright again. ????

I was in a tiny bit of Kyoto and some Ouarzazate yesterday, which helped. Today I’m all perky in Frapin L’Humaniste, and we are now sliding into the weekend!

SOTD: Santa Maria Novella Calicantus. Worked well for the funky weather we had today, which started out cloudy but luckily became clear and sunny by mid-afternoon.
