Friday, plus, International Day of Peace and World Gratitude Day! Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that fits.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I am wearing the quietly happy Hermès Eau de Néroli Doré. I'd like to take a moment to say thank you to all the fantastic photographers over at Flickr that upload beautiful shots, and then license them in such a way that others can use them freely. While I'm at it, thanks to Creative Commons for facilitating the use of sharing licenses.
Reminder: on 9/28, wear a fragrance by Byredo, Berdoues or Bruno Fazzolari, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter B.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hi everyone, SOTD is Lauren cologne (vintage) by Ralph Lauren. Wearing an 80’s-themed scent to coordinate with seeing Journey, Foreigner and Def Leppard in concert tonight!
It’s a surprise for the hubby, Journey is his favorite band. I won’t be wearing shoulder pads but will have the big 80’s hair. 😀
Happy Friday!
Yes! How fun!!!!
What a great surprise for your husband! You are smelling absolutely beautiful in Lauren. Have fun tonight ????????
Echoing Lillyjo — that’s a great surprise! Bring earplugs — if you were around for the first run of those bands, you can’t afford the damage 😉
LLol, Robin good idea! After seeing Van Halen, Peter Murphy, NIN, U2, & Metallica concerts and a slew of other concerts, you’re right (I’m already as deaf as a post to begin with)! 🙂
I found out that other friends will also be at the concert, this will be a fun evening! Fortunately, I arranged to leave work a little early for a quick ‘disco nap’.
Pre- party napes are ALWAYS the way to go. And be sure to get a shot of espresso before hand as well!
Have fun!
Lauren is a blast from the past ????
CM8 – It’s my favorite scent with a marigold note. This was instant love at first sniff!
I bet you wear it beautifully!!! Did you ever try the original Dolce and Gabbana with the red cap? That also had a beautiful marigold note.
CM8, no, I never tried that one! I should seek it out for a spritz. 🙂 Thanks for the recommendation!
Perfect ensemble for tonight ! Have fun! I love big 80s hair!!
Barqs, my H.S. yearbook mentioned me as “best and biggest hair”. Kind of a dubious distinction but I’ll take it! 😆
A few years back, we went to an 80s themed party. I got my curling iron out, and started curling like I did back in the 80s. It was amazing how it all came back to me. The curling, teasing and hairspray 🙂
llol, muscle memory! 😀
I had a huge bottle of Lauren way back when, you smell amazing!
Have a fun night, and rock that hair!
Gail – I miss the large 4 oz bottles.
This is so many kinds of awesome 😀
Rock of Ages tour? Hope you guys have a blast!
My friends and I camped out all night in the ticket line for Journey way back in ‘82 or ‘83. I hope you and the husband have a fabulous time! Wheel in the sky…!
Thanks Deva! 🙂 The hubby saw Journey in SF way back in the day. He is going to be over the moon!
Have a great time! I envy the big hair!
Happy Birthday to hubby and enjoy your fun night!
Ahhhh fun! I wanted to go here in town a few weeks ago but never got around to getting tickets! I hope you have a great time with your hubby!
Chicago is coming to San Jose in November. I scored matinee tickets for the hubby and MIL (whose birthday is in November). It’ll be a nice time!
Oooooo – have fun!!!
OMG, that sounds SOOOOOOOOO AWESOME! Have a blast!
Oh, wow, have fun! I adore Foreigner! Please give us a full report!
Fun!! Have a great time 🙂
I am in Chanel Coco EdT , thanks to a very generous NSTer
I think that Chanel perfume is a very peaceful perfume not because of the notes, because of how it makes me feel when I am wearing it. Coco makes me sit up straight, say thank you, act elegant, smile more at others and can takes me from day into the evening. IMHO
Gorgeous! And yes, it’s quite the elegant perfume, isn’t it? I feel that way when I wear No. 5 or No. 22.
And 31 RC for me also
Perfect !
You smell great. Coco is on my FB list.
I think with the fall weather coming in you should just buy it now. 😛
I like the way you think!
I have been up for 2 hours and can’t remember what I sprayed! Boy I need a weekend! To bad I will spend it preparing for parent conferences…. happy Friday to all
Good luck with the parent conferences! And I’ve been there with the memory-thing.
Sometimes my memory is only as good as my most recent hot flash.
🙄
ha ha, hot flashes are the WORSE! can really smell perfume coming off yo in one though
Well drat — hope the NEXT weekend is restful then!
SOTD is FM’s Dries Van Noten…a great scent for the beginning of Autumn.
Oh, yes it is and maybe I will wear it this weekend.
yum
“Gratitude is the heart’s memory.” a French proverb – credit to Mutts comic strip for my daily entertainment.
Seems perfect for today.
Here are 2 more from same:
DAILY QUOTE
“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.”
Cicero
…and:
Gratitude is the sign of noble souls
Aesop
so I am grateful for my family (both present & past) my friends, my health, music, flowers, birdsongs and of course you all.
Lovely!
i love quotes and i love the ones you shared!
my mother often says gratitude is the heart’s memory. 😀
thank you!
I do love that quote!
And yes, to mention gratitude – I’m thankful for kitty cat hugs, family and friends who love me and a great job that keeps me learning every day!
What beautiful sentiments, thank you for sharing.
Wearing Lush The Olive Branch to fit the peace theme.
oh, that’s perfect, brought a tear to my eye. 😉
🙂
Spot on!
Perfect. Is that an actual scent or the shower gel?
A body spray.
There was The Olive Branch perfume at one time, but it’s discontinued. The body spray is a good affordable option.
Nice. Never seen the body spray.
It fits the theme so well, hope it also brings a peaceful day.
Also, thanks and sorry to have confused you with Perfumelover67 re apple perfumes, I was able to thank her earlier.
No problem!
SotD = CdG Avignon
I love Avignon, on the FB wish list it goes. It smells rich, luxurious, like the inside of an old and important place. I don’t have incense-church memories, so it feels grand castle or manor house. Reminds me of laddm but Avignon is indoors, laddm is outdoors. Interesting.
I’m eating a bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon and almond milk topped with an egg over hard (broken yolk cooked firm). After years of being almost-all-veggie-all-the-time, a recent craving for eggs has me puzzled. Oh well.
Happy Friday, y’all smell great. Looking forward to reading everyone’s picks today. Peace and Gratitude are Important to me. Gratitude is the heart’s memory.
Great choice for today !
thanks, Barqs! Avignon feels peaceful to me.
I Just ate oatmeal because of you! I was to lazy to make the eggs though ????
yay! glad to have you join me on the oatmeal love train. I eat it for breakfast most days, I vary the toppings. 😀
Usually it’s sausage or bacon that sucks people back in ???? (For me it was salami, which isn’t something I really ever crave otherwise.) Enjoy your eggs and Avignon!
i have not had bacon is so many many years but the smell sometimes really makes me wish I could eat it. No gall bladder makes it hard for me to enjoy pork! sorry if that’s TMI!! 😉
Great breakfast and great scent.
thanks, Ede97005, the oatmeal/eggs and Avignon helped me power through the day!
Oh, I do love Avignon! You smell great!
Have you tried cracked egg over rice with sesame sauteed garlic and ginger? It’s really satisfying for breakfast! Video embedded below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2zMrOclu-o
Yum yum yum
thanks, SmokeyToes! Avignon smells wonderful even now in the late afternoon, it’s amazing.
oh gosh, I love rice. I’m having that for dinner soon!
Tiffanie – Same and SAME!! I love Avignon, it is sitting in my Luckyscent cart!
yah, i’m wishing someone would make it rain bottles of Avignon. It’s going to sit on my wish list for a long time. 😉
Gorgeous photo, Robin, and very nice shout-outs (or is “shouts-out” more grammatically correct?) to those who make your blogging life easier. For the CP I chose Kyoto, and expect I’ll be one of many others. 🙂 I’m going through my decant steadily enough that a full bottle (or canister, in this case) is definitely in my future.
I lost about an hour last night looking at that woman’s photo stream. Often when I find a great photostream, all the great shots are copyrighted so I can’t use them.
Kyoto, yum!! Is it crazy that I’m still hoping CdG will put out travel sprays of the incense series?
Probably crazy, yes, but wouldn’t that be wonderful? Even a coffret/exploration set of, say, 5 mls of each would be pretty great.
I’m your scent twin today 🙂 Kyoto is so peaceful, my favorite of the Incense series. Even though I have a couple others, I would absolutely love a coffret of all the scents!
I am in the last of a decant of Fracas, which evaporated at the speed of light. I wore it maybe twice and it was a 5ml decant. Oh well. No points for the project.
No points, maybe, but you smell amazing!
Bummer when that happens. My mini Fracas parfum also evaporated very quickly. I dumped the last few drops in some unscented lotion.
Paprika Brazil
Thunk
????????????????????????????????
Bear in mind it’s only a large sample but I did 50 sprays because the Hermessence wear like body mists on me.
Fifty sprays! I would have lost count.
I did about six each on various body parts and my clothes
Ah, and if only they were priced closer to body mists. Rather how I feel about most of the Jo Malone range too…
Ha, you are so right! Believe it or not I get a lot more longevity from the Malone’s and the Atelier Colognes than the Hermessence. A shame because I like this one.
CM8- yeah, me too.
Congratulations on your thunk! I did a small cherished sample of N18 Chanel with a thunk for today!
I am not thunking enough but it is a goal!!!
scent eating skin is frustrating sometimes for me.
I think it’s a function of my age….
Grateful to God for all the blessings in my life.
Also very grateful that my head cold of this week is gone!
So, wore SL Fleurs d’Oranger yesterday pm once I could smell again, as I love its OPTIMISM. For me it is a happy scent. (And my bottle must be older and still have lots of cumin, as my neighbour said that I smelled lovely, “a bit Indian.”)
Started today with Eau d’Lalique, then swiped some Sel de Vetiver from the hubby’s closet.
So glad you can smell again.
And I agree that SL Fleurs d’Oranger is a happy scent. I would even say exuberant. 🙂
So true! We can take the world on with a smile wearing this…
????love your neighbors comment and your post as well!!!
Thank you and thank you for sharing your quotes!
Hello all!
I’m in Iris Ukiyoe today, which I find both clean and centering. If I had been allowed to wear perfume to my Japanese tea classes, I would have worn this. And not just because of the name!
And as for gratitude? I’m grateful that I can find testers of some of my pricy favorites, which is the only reason I can own a bottle of Iris Ukiyoe in the first place. 😉
I am grateful for testers and for swaps and freebies on NST!
Ooh, do tell more about the Japanese tea classes. I must have missed your previous post on this!
House twins!!!!
Beautiful scent.

Byzance Rochas ????

Shine on, Bear!????????????
Byzance and I had a thing for a while, back in my serially monogamous perfume life. You smell mahvelous.
???? ????
You smell so fab. Byzance is a lontime love.
I always think of you when I see this fragrance mentioned
PERFECT.
Empathy is an action verb without borders!
???? Guess who’s quote that is Bear….(big hint 2 ur left)
????☔????✌☺
????????????✌
I just discovered Byzance but I absolutely adore it. You smell great!
Yummy Bear.Me likey.????????????
Another beautiful and relaxing picture Robin. Thank you!
I am very grateful that today is finally Friday!!! What a week!
I am in Le Labo Ambrette 9, which makes me feel very peaceful and relaxed. My gratitude to NSTer Katrina from whom I got the full bottle 2 years ago on my first swapmeet here. I love and enjoy this perfume greatly every time I wear it. Hoarding the little bit is left.
Peace and happiness to you all!
Peace and happiness to you too!
Thank you Lillyjo! ????
I also find Ambrette 9 to be very calming. It’s on my wishlist. You smell great today! Wishing you peace and happiness always ????
Thank you ElisaP. Ambrette 9 has been in my to buy list for a while already. Wondering if there is any other perfume similar too it. It is so comfy. Exactly what I need these days….
I don’t know that one but I am sure you smell great. Peace to you too and TGIF
Thank you! We survived the week! Let’s hope now for a nice and quiet weekend.
Hope you have a very peaceful weekend!
Thank you KellyC! The same to you! ????
I hope that you have a relaxing, peaceful weekend! That Le Labo sounds great, another lemming perhaps..
I hope you have the opportunity to try Ambrette 9. It is very soothing and has a beautiful sillage. You too have a peaceful weekend.
Will go and smell the Le Labo at Skins asap, and think of you M!
Happy Friday!
❤️✌????????
Oh! That is so sweet of you! I hope you like Ambrette 9. Let me know what you think about it. It is very comfy! Happy Friday to you too!
I’m in Theorema and I am grateful that I found a bottle of this beautiful perfume. Grateful to be wearing it to a job I (mostly) like, grateful for this community of fragrant friends! And grateful that it is Friday! ????
I am echoing your statements – very grateful that I have a partial bottle of Theorema, and for the (mostly) great job, all of you wonderful never-met bfips (best friends in perfume), and really, so glad that the weekend is just around the corner.
Theorema is wonderful! You smell fabulous.
Theorema is really worth being grateful for.
Etat Libre d’Orange Tilda Swinton Like This — that is one long name for a perfume 🙂
I was reading about this perfume not too long ago, and it is supposed to bring to mind the image of “home”. This was the first fragrance I thought of when I read this week’s project.
Happy Friday !!
Like This is so much fun, I love the immortelle’s maple syrup facets (which in turn remind me of home).
You smell great!!
Mmmm you smell great.
I’m still sick, and debating on staying home from work tonight. As much as I can whine, I’m actually very grateful every day for many things. Right now I am wearing a bit of Au the’ Bleau. I have been wearing this as a bedtime scent for spring and summer. I find it to be really calming. After tonight I will switch to something else for fall and winter.. maybe. Have a great Friday everyone ????
Oh, and Robin.. that picture is amazing! It makes me want to cry, in a good way.
I know just what you mean.
Oh, and I vote with everyone else: stay home.
✌May your health improve and your basement become dry, lillyjo. ????
We all shine on like the ????????????⭐???? ! I knew you would know! ????
????????????✌
2 of the best wishes ever! Thanks. And I knew, you knew, I would know ????????❤
I hope you start to feel better soon, lillyjo.
Thank you! I was going to get my flu shot this week, but now I can’t. Hope this is over soon.
That happened to me last year. I was already sick when I had an appointment for something else and was planning on getting a shot. Then I never got around to it. Maybe Oct 1 you can remember rabbits and a flu shot ????????
Good plan!
Feel better and take care of yourself.
Thanks, I’m trying.
I vote for staying home (if you can)! You probably need the rest so you are able to start feeling better.
Thanks, I’m going to try and make it in, if I have to I will ask to leave early.
I vote for staying home as well! Hope you start feeling better!
Thank you. I’m up and dressed now, gonna give it a go. I’m hoping it won’t be busy.
Stay home ????????????????
Lol, yeah.. I know. I’m not real bright sometimes.
You are just conscientious… but sometimes you have to put yourself first.
I really love the idea of picking a seasonal bedtime scent! What a cool thing to do. I often wear fragrances to bed, but not for sustained periods like that. Seems like a great way to create calming fragrance memories.
Yeah, I didn’t plan it, but I found I missed it if I skipped a night.
Hope you feel better soon, lillyjo.
Hope you feel better soon. Take care.
Feel better Lillyjo!You smell fabulous!❤️❤️
Hope you survived the day and are feeling better. Take care. Tomorrow will be a better day for sure!
Friday at last!
More from Sylvaine Delacourte today with Vanori and Vangelis.
I am trying them out too. Nothing must-have yet!
These two are remarkably similar in the drydown to me.
Agreed…so far all nice but no must haves.
Hi friends! I’m wearing Dzing!, which feels like it matches the CP but I don’t know why. I do know that very dry perfumes feel more peaceful to me.
Thanks for your comforting/commiserating words about my possible perfume rash yesterday. Gonna avoid chest spraying for a few days, but I already miss it – my usual spray pattern is back of the wrist and middle of the chest, because I like to both be able to put my wrist up to my nose for a close sniff, and the enveloping aura of a scent inside my shirt. Ah well, as my husband said when I was freaking out that I might develop horrible skin sensitivities that ruin my favorite hobby – “there are lots of ways to enjoy perfume.”
I agree with you about dry perfumes. They are more grounding to me. Hopefully the rash was just an isolated incident.
I think it might have been She-Ra (?) who mentioned trying an experiment last summer of *not* spraying the chest to test whether it was causing anosmia throughout the day.
I tried the same and actually only spray my arms, except during sweater season. I’ve actually found that when I do spray my neck/behind ears/decollatage, that soon enough I can’t smell those areas so it just seems like a waste of perfume.
Interesting! My chest spray usually lasts the longest, probably because it gets on my clothes.
I think what Kpaint meant (correct me if I’m wrong) is that by having it front and center, and on your clothes, you end up with more olfactory fatigue — one of the arguments for why people who wear the same scent all the time end up wearing too much of it.
I like behind my neck and if I am wearing a skirt or a dress behind my knees…
LOVE Dzing! Oh man, it’s one of a kind. Enjoy! And hopefully the rash stays far away.
I had a particular perfume cause irritation last year—one that was on my FB list, too. I tried it again last month, and it was fine, so maybe it was either a fluke, or a reaction to the perfume plus, say, sunlight. You might give that particular scent a rest for a lengthy spell and then try it again. Otherwise you might note the ingredients in case you have a reaction to something else, so you can pinpoint what caused it.
Very comforting, Laurels, thank you! And Salome is totally on my FB list so I hope my experience is similar. I had had a flu shot the day before so I’m hoping, without any basis in science, that it was related to that ????
SOTD: Pacifica Sandalwood. I find sandalwood scents to be meditative and peaceful. Deep breaths 🙂
I’m grateful for the NST community! This is such a kind, supportive, and generous little corner of the internet. Thanks for coming here and putting your good vibes (and good smells!) out into the world. Thanks also to everyone who has offered to share their samples and decants with me. You all are the best.
I find sandalwood meditative and peaceful too. I am wearing Nobile 1942 Sandalo.
Ooh I’ll bet that’s good. I LOVE Nobile 1942 Patchouli and Amber, but they’re the only scents I’ve tried from that line. Not so easy to find samples of that brand.
Sandalwood is a spiritual oil as are frankincense and myrrh so I agree with you on the peaceful feeling
So sad Pacifica has discontinued this. It’s a lovely sandalwood.
Wearing Vol de Nuit Evasion from a decant provided by a glorious friend.
I have been blessed by so many friends who have stood by me as life decided to throw some painful shots my way. I try to remember to be grateful for them every day.
Is it quite different from Vol de Nuit? I have some vintage edt that I was lucky enough to find on the bay; I wore it last night.
Good friends are the best treasure we can have.
Wearing Hyacinth and a Mechanic, the peace and harmony that can be found among very disparate elements. I am grateful that my water damage remediation has begun, though the constant sound of the dryers and blowers is getting on my nerves. Focusing on the fact that this too will pass, and my home will be ‘healed.’
I like your take on the scent symbolism, though I’ve never smelled it. One of my favorite perfume names!
Yay on water damage remediation!
I’m wearing Chanel 19 vintage edt today. I was up early tidying my perfumes that were scattered on the dresser and that one jumped into my hand. Now on to putting away my jewellery.
We have a rainstorm forecast for most of the day; we need it so badly so I am thankful for that. At least I don’t have to go out in it today.
I am so grateful for this lovely community; it certainly brings me peace at the end of each crazy, busy workday. Even though I usually am last to post, I get to read all the comments of the day and you almost feel like you know people here even though many of us have never met.
Happy Friday everyone!
Just so you know, I wake up sometimes and see your posts, but by then it’s way late to comment back, but I enjoy reading them. You smell great today!????
Thanks lillyjo!
Smelling so wonderful!
House cousins!
Big thunderstorm here right now, I am grateful to be safe in my warm home. I am also deeply grateful for my loving husband and the 11 years of sweet love I shared with my dogs. They are at peace, so I am at peace, although I miss them so much.
Sending hugs and Ollie says he can come and visit for snuggles <3
I would love puppy snuggles!
This is such a touching post. I’m glad you are finding some peace.
Wishing you much peace and comfort , cazaubon. Loss is hard. Hugs to you ????
So glad you are able to find some peace.
Glad you are at peace
So sorry. Everything changes in the house after a loss of a pet. After my last dog passed, I was vacuuming and when I went to empty the dirt cup, it was mostly dog hair and I just broke down crying. Wish I could give you warm hug!
I hope you always hold them close but that the sorrow in missing them lessens over time.
I’m glad you’re at peace. Embrace the sweetness of the memories if you can. It’s hard.
I was thinking last night about how grateful I am for the unconditional love dogs and – some! – cats have given me. It is so hard when they are gone! All best Cazaubon.
Hugs for you on missing your furry babies.
This really choked me up. I feel for you.
Wishing you peace and the healing sweetness of memories. It’s so hard to lose a loved one, whether in human or animal form.
You’re very courageous, Cazaubon, and from now on I hope what you’ll remember are the good moments you had with your furry friends.
so sorry for your loss. they take a lot of place in your heart, those barky furries. wishing you well..
❤️❤️❤️????
Hugs to you!
FM Carnal Flower this morning, needed some BWF to get through this long week (house twins with Filomena, and cousins with PriscillaE).
I am grateful to have an online community that appreciates my/our fragrance hobby and doesn’t just say I smell like “old lady” 😉
I’m with you. I’m glad Nst was the first community I found. Some of the other ones are, well.. not friendly. This place is special.
Well, I will say you smell fabulous today!
In Istanbul by Gallivant today – nice and cozy scent. I’m grateful that little Yasmina is turning 1 this weekend. What a joy she is. Have a nice day y’all
Awww, Happy Birthday to little yasmina ????????
Happy Birthday to your little one year old!
Happy birthday to your sweet baby girl!
Happy Birthday to little yasmina!
Thanks all ????
Happy first birthday baby girl! ????????
Happy birthday little Yasmina!
Aww, happy birthday to your little one! And many more to come 🙂
Happy birthday to your little one! That first year flies by fast, doesn’t it?
Happy Birthday to precious little Yasmina!
Such a fun age!!
Yay, baby!
I’m testing out a sample of Xerjoff’s Bouquet Ideale today. It’s cooled off a bit, so I’m wanting something a bit warmer and cozier. Like so many of my tobacco scents, it makes me think of my grandfather, to whom I was very close. He quit when I was three, but my mom and I lived with my grandparents, aunts, and great-grandmother until I was four, so some of my earliest and most comforting memories involve the smell of pipe tobacco. I’m so grateful for scents like this one that can invoke those happy memories. (This is also why I have a soft spot for Shalimar and Chanel No. 5, even though they don’t work so well on my skin – my GG wore them all the time.)
I love this one and never see it mentioned! I have a little sample I got from a niche store in Budapest a few years ago
SOTD: L’Air de Desert Marocain
Peace for me is an inner thing but fragrance does sooth and help, as do other things of course, in giving a feeling of peace. I think L’Air de Desert Marocain is one of my more peaceful scents. Ethereal is probably too strong of a word to describe this, but that’s what comes to mind.
Happy Friday all!
You smell wonderful.
Gorgeous pic, Robin!
SOTD = Guerlain Cuir Beluga
Scent-phone friendly. I am on a bus winging its way to Washington DC for a short getaway.
In the uncertain chaos of the days before my dad passed (December 2014) and for weeks thereafter, Cuir Beluga gave me peace and comfort. Gratitude – he left a lasting legacy of generosity and selflessness. I am showing my gratitude by paying it forward.
In other news, as I mentioned, I am on my way to DC. We stopped at a rest stop in Delaware that had all the usual food places, a somewhat unusual Pret a Manger (I somehow don’t associate Pret with rest stops), a mini convenience store AND, get ready for it…ready? Are you sure? Really really really sure? A PERFUME BOOTH! A quick look confirmed mostly mainstream. But how cool is that?
The perfumes I brought include: No. 19, No. 5 L’eau (my super cute 35 mL bottle), Kilian Woman in Gold sample spray (will be thunked), Mugler Aura EDP and Atelier Cologne Cedrat Enivrant.
A roadside perfume booth, how cool! I like your choices.
Hope you have a relaxing and peaceful getaway✌????
Safe travels to you! Your Dad would be very proud of your commitment to continuing his legacy, I’m sure.
Nice tribute to your dad and that your CB brings you comfort in your memories of him.
I hit a rest stop that had a perfume kiosk, too! It was mainstream, but oldies. Enjoy your DC trip!
What FUN!!! BTW – are you stopping by Arielles’ shop?
Oh have fun! You will smell great!
How fun! Well, obviously the universe is compensating you for all the commuting woes you have to put up with.
I think the character legacies we inherit from our parents are one of the most important things we get to keep of them once they’ve passed on. Hope you have a wonderful trip! I would love to see a perfume kiosk.
How funny — I know that rest stop, but when I am in a rest stop on 95 I am in a HURRY, I never even noticed the perfume kiosk.
Have fun in DC!!
Well you sure will smell gorgeous at all times during your trip!Enjoy and SAFE TRAVELS!!✌????❤️
SOTD is Satori from my new 1/2 bottle ???? I guess the name would qualify for the CP today, but the scent is sublime: spare, smooth, understated, and graceful are how I would describe it. Also a meditative scent. It’s my new wood/spice/incense obsession.
Grateful for lots of things in my life, and when I’m not feelin’ it, I’m grateful my chosen profession helps put things back into perspective.
Hope everyone has a peaceful weekend ????
Oooh, I haven’t tried Satori yet, but I love Hana Hiraku. I’ll have to seek this one out!
I haven’t tried any others from the line. What’s Hana Hiraku like?
I’ll say salty-floral-melon, but with that same soft aesthetic with which you described Satori. Melon is a polarizing note for some, but I think it works really well here.
Thanks! Yeah, reading the description made me think of Durga, which is not soft, and I can’t really stomach it for more than a few minutes.
Well said and you smell lovely!
Thanks Petunia! Nice to have a partner in crime ???? Spraying does help it last somewhat longer- I sprayed last night and I could still smell it in the morning, but I showered this am and my skin is cleaner/drier so it faded faster. Dirty skin is the best for longevity, I find…
That’s interesting. Maybe I should allow myself to be a bit more dirty to get better longevity
Curious to hear if that makes a difference for you! I have definitely noticed that pattern. And some of them smell better to me, too, on dirty skin. And by “dirty”, I mean at night if I showered in the am etc.
In Shalimar Initial today – this was sent to me as a lovely, unexpected surprise by fellow NST’er kpaint, so I am very grateful to her!
Thanks also to all the people who take time to answer questions, who include lovely notes and little samples to make opening a package extra fun, and who spontaneously offer decants or samples just because they’d like to share their love for perfume – this is, as many have said, a pretty lovely corner of the web!
Thanks also to Robin for keeping it all going, and to the other reviewers who provide us with reading leisure!
Lovely perfume,I use mine rather sparingly for fear of running out!
“My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth…”
Lancôme 2000 Fleurs
SotD was Satori by Satori
Now I am wearing Sycomore (edt), by Chanel
I wish you all a great weekend! ????
Twins! You smelled wonderful this morning (and now, too). I actually associate Satori with you and Petunia-you seemed like a dedicated fan ???? I’m glad I caved on getting it.
You both smell wonderful! I’m very thankful that you caved in to buy it too! ????
Yay, more Satori fans! ????Join the club
Happy Friday!
1) There is a animated Google Doodle on Mister Rogers. Go watch. I watched and had a cry.
2) Am in Iris Cedre by Prada. Perfect for the weather today and very grounding and uplifting.
3) Am grateful for the ability to have a roof over my head, my dear friends, living in the beautiful State of Oregon, my nieces, nephews, godsons, and of course my dog Snowy.
Aww, my very first pet was an all white cat named Snowy. 🙂
Aw! I bet Snowy was a very fluffy and loving cat!
He was! Very tolerant too, I used to put him in my doll baby carriage and wheel him around the house. 🙂
I could use a good Mr. Roger’s cry…
It’s a lovely stop animation video. It’s so sweet.
I had a grab a hanky…tears and nostalgia
Mr. Rogers is the epitome of peace and gratitude….
Oh yes. May we cultivate more of that spirit in everyday life.
I’m bummed I missed the Mr. Rogers documentary-I hear it was a tear jerker. Did you see it?
Yes, I did and basically Fred Rogers was a better human being than we knew.
The doc is on Amazon Streaming, if interested.
The documentary was wonderful! Near the end, the entire audience, including my boyfriend, was sniffling.
Was going to go with Avignon today but my hand was pulled back to the Cuir Ottoman. It was in the 50s this morning and I needed it.
I am extremely grateful for you all and also grateful that my fiance already got a job here in Albuquerque! Woo hoo, no moving!!!!!
Have a great weekend, friends!
Yowza!! So happy for you both! What a relief! ????????
This is so awesome, high five!!
Excellent news
Perfect! That was fast. Good for you both????
I’m in shock it happened so fast! I am so relieved, it’s been a real emotional roller coaster this week.
That is such great news! Very glad to hear it.
Enjoy your weekend!
????????????????????????????
That’s great news!
That’s so quick! Yay! In my field there is usually a 6 month lag between applying for a job and being offered one
I’m going to take a guess and say that you work in academia
Spot on
That must be some kind of speed record. Good for you both.
So happy that it worked out so quickly!
Congratulations KellyC! Have you been to the rooftop bar at Chaco Canyon hotel? My happy place!!!!
I have not! I just looked it up and it is definitely on the to-do list! Maybe to celebrate this weekend! Thank you!!!
My pleasure – I think that it is the perfect place to celebrate!!! Take in an extra glance for me! Enjoy!
Great news!!! So happy for the both of you.
Wow! That was lightening fast! So happy for you guys ???? I hope you can celebrate this weekend.
Wonderful news!
I love a happy ending!
Good news! Congrats!
Glad about your good news KellyC!You smell lovely as well!????????????????????????
I’m in CdG Kyoto today and grateful for a humongous list of things!
These include still being in my right mind (mostly), continence (except when I laugh too hard), my lovely van which is 95% done, my faithful 4 legged companion (not really faithful, she’ll go off with anyone who gives her attention or a milk bone!), the intrepid van man who only lost patience with the van one time (at least that I witnessed!), cool mornings that will lead to cool days, having my next contract signed to take me through winter, and last but not least, beautiful perfumes, the pleasure of which is greatly enhanced by the NST community. Great people hang out here. Also grateful to you, Robin, for creating such a unique place!
So many good things to be grateful for. 🙂
Yes, indeed! Even though I often whine about the heat (amongst other things), I hope I never lose sight of all the wonderful people I have met and beautiful things I have experienced in my short little time on this rock ????
Yay to van being just about done
Now comes the fun part, at least for me- decorating and organizing! ????
Enjoy that!!!
Ha! To the laughing to hard, and God help me if I sneeze????
Oh, no sneezing allowed! That would be a catastrophe! ????
So many wonderful things!
True, and so happy you and the fiancé are able to stay exactly where you are. Congrats on his new job ????
What a great list of thankfulness!
The little things are really big things, aren’t they? Thanks for the reminder! You’re smelling great today (as everyday)!
So true. The small things in life are the most precious.
Wonderful Gratitude list!
Lollia Relax is my scent of the day
In a happy place today with Bombay Bling. It’s a beautiful day here and as always there is too much to be grateful for to name!
Bombay Bling would be enough, but you do have a wonderful attitude. Hope the rest of your weekend is beautiful as well.
Early morning meeting again, so I was in Twilly to be pleasant smelling.
And gratitude to Spectrum for arriving on time and seemingly fixing our internet issue. New modem and router. Minor tension when my husband discovered he had to clear a path in the bedroom for the guy to replace a splitter. He was embarrassed by the mess on his side of the bed. The good news is he used the vacuum there after the cable guy left… off to the post office to mail cards and letter and swap package.
Oh! I switched to the Trésor from the swap. Quite peaceful.
I’m always grateful. Many blessings.
High five for use of the vacuum by the husband! That is a true accomplishment????
He commented that the Dyson was the best $$$ we ever spent. Probably because I do a quick pass pretty much every day, and he’s gotten to avoid our old, bigger vacuum.
The embarrassment was the price he paid for ignoring my requests to please, please please clean up over there.
I’m glad you find the Trésor peaceful. For me, and for the relative who passed it along to me, it was a little too jangly. Happy Friday!
I’ll have to read comments later.
I chose Pd White for the cp. White is associated with positivity, purity, light, goodness, humility, sincerity, spirituality, humility and softness, etc.; All things that lend themselves to peace. I thought it was really a good fit for today’s project. White is also the color of a surrender flag! ✌
sounds like a great association
I’m wearing 7 Virtues Orange Blossom, because orange blossom is lovely and because of 7 Virtues’ mission. Imagine my surprise when I saw today’s Lemming!
I am going to have to visit a Sephora a couple of towns over to try that one. Excellent choice for the CP.
The lovely Tauer Zeta today. Thank you cazaubon for this wonderful treasure!
So glad you are enjoying it!
Having one of those WHAT ON EARTH was all fuss about this perf— oooohhhhh. Ahhhhhhh… Hmmmm…. I see… perfume days. Tried this one several times and never thought much of it. Today it is GORGEOUS. Naja by Vero Profumo–I think that this one was a favorite of Deva’s?
Gratitude for too many things to note here. Suffice it to say that I feel exceedingly fortunate.
World Peace Day? Really? Gosh, I have been working with UN documents and peace and security issues for decades, but World Peace Day has never made a dent on anything. So I shall observe it by trying to recognize my personal prejudices, phobias, snobberies, bad decisions, bad parenting choices, and laziness.
World peace? Having a day for it is like watering a dying garden with tears. The tears might feel cathartic, but they do nothing for the garden.

Now I’m going to have to dig my sample of Naja out and retry too! I had issues with just getting too much powdery linden blossom and none of the other notes. Maybe some cooler weather will help it along.

I came across this amazing book recently, War Gardens by photo- journalist Lalage Snow. . It features gardens created by citizens in the ruins of war torn, destryoed cities and the sense of calm and hope they inspire. It’s fantastic.
THAT is amazing – thank you for sharing Kanuka!

This is a photo gallery of the gardens
Wonderful pics, thank you.
Aha! I need gifts for my team members when I travel to DC next month. That book is a great idea. Thx!
It’s hot and humid outside and I am wearing Kyoto. It’s always difficult to find the right perfume for hot weather. I just completed a Sephora run and bid on a 2 ounce bottle of vintage Diorling. The bottle is still in sealed packaging. I hope the reserve from the seller on EBay isn’t horrific because the reserve hasn’t been met with my $65 bid.
Wearing Bas de Soie, and have just finished counting my blessings.
I think I’ve figured out why I feel vaguely sorry for entitled people and it’s because they don’t have gratitude: even if they get everything they feel they deserve, they take it as their due and it doesn’t make them happy.
You smell great! Love Bas de Soie! This scent is really peaceful and relaxing for me and I tend to wear it a lot during cold months to give myself a break from big fumes.
I’m wearing Etro Sandalo this morning, a lovely little swapmeet extra from Jalapeno. It’s a sweeter, more floral sandalwood than some of the others I own (Villoresi, looking at you) and really pretty to wear.
Wearing FM’s Lys Mediterranee (lilies = peace, I guess?). I like this one but it is AMAZINGLY strong – I limited myself to two small spritzes and it still knocked me back.
Gorgeous and peaceful. It doesn’t stick, around for long on me, unfortunately, but it’s wonderful while it lasts.
My salute to today’s peace theme is the very appropriate Bond No. 9 Scent of Peace from a bonbon I’ve had a long time but never tried. Luckily, for me, the initial grapefruit note – a scent note I dislike – dissipates quickly as the black currant – a note I’ve always enjoyed – makes its presence felt. I’m not getting any LOTV and it hasn’t reached its cedary -another favorite note of mine – drydown yet.
I’ve read this fragrance was created to commemorate the 9/11 tragedy, so since that sad anniversary has only recently passed a few weeks ago, this scent is even more appropriate. And with all the divisiveness so prevalent in our country and the world, a scent that brings thoughts of peace is welcome.
I must admit, though, that I’m searching for a bit of peace today and hoping I’ll feel a bit of gratitude before the day ends. Due to family and various other reasons, it was a very hectic and somewhat stressful summer. I was so looking forward to a slow return to normalcy and the comfort of abandoned routines beginning this week. But Someone’s plan for me was different. Early Monday morning, after investigating birdlike-yet-not-quite-birdlike sounds outside several times, I found what appears to be a 3-week old female kitten wailing pitifully. Well, you can guess the rest of the story. While there had been a mom and a nest of kittens recently in a neighbor’s yard a distance away, all had vanished. Supposedly. Although I’ve had kittens and cats for many years, I’ve never had one so small. Several frantic phone calls and a trip to the pet store, armed with kitten formula and a baby bottle, I’ve now embarked on a new adventure. The burden of being responsible – at least for now – for so tiny and previous a life weighs heavily on me and I’m taking it day by day for now. It’s Day 5 and Little Bear (because she looks like a tiny little black bear).appears to be thriving. She’s brave, curious, friendly . . . and beautiful. Fingers crossed she continues to do well . . .
WOW!!!!
Go Mama “Bear”!
I actually am a real ‘Momma Bear!’ My maiden name is an Eastern European word for ‘bear’ so I have long identified with it and have thought of it as my spiritual animal in Native American culture for many years.
How interesting. Best of luck to you and the baby bear!
Bless you for taking care of that kitten ????. I’ve fostered many a tiny kitten, and it’s both the most tiring and rewarding thing I’ve done. Do try the Kitten Lady videos on YouTube if you get in a situation where you need advice.
Thank you very much! I’ve watched just a couple of videos and learned how to wrap up the kitten like a burrito for ease in bottle-feeding but I will definitely check out Kitten Lady. I need all the help I can find!
She also gives you the tip of brushing the kitten with a toothbrush because it feels like mama’s tongue and is comforting. Please let us know how she does!
I am in love with kittenlady!
Three weeks old? That’s a tiny little bear-cat. I hope she thrives in your care–it sounds like she was found by the right person.
(p.s. did you know that the name Ursula means “little bear”?)
Yes, I did know that but never thought of it! We called it Little Bear just to give it a temporary name and stop calling it ‘it,’ we were not even sure whether it was male or female, hard to tell when they’re so tiny!
This is SO FABULOUS!! What a lucky little kitten! ????
It may be fabulous but it’s strange! Two summers ago, 2 days before we were leaving for a long weekend away, I saw a black mother cat and 3 small kittens playing outside our bedroom window. We then found their nest in a small outdoor shed nearby and left them food. The neighbors we exchanged pet-sitting services with agreed to leave them food in our absence and the plan was, as soon as we came back, to try and get all of them to a shelter. And the very next day they all disappeared, and we assumed that mom moved the nest. This occurred several times and in several places that summer and the next: a black mother cat was spotted, then a nest was found but the nest was moved before anyone could do anything about it. All the kittens were black and as summer turned into fall they were occasionally spotted in various places, down the block, around the corner, here and there. In the winter, they all disappeared; we assumed they either moved on or died in the cold. But then next summer came and the same events occurred: always a black mother cat, always black kittens, and then they all disappear in the winter. And, strangest of all, we’ve never seen a ‘father’ cat, ever! Those of us who have cats keep them indoors, so a new outside cat in the neighborhood would be noticed right away. How weird is all that?
You can do it!! It’s hard work, but oh so rewarding. They look like such fragile little things at that age, but their spirits are strong. If you keep her, you will have a bond with her like no other.
Thanks for the words of encouragement. Best of both worlds would be my neighbor with whom I’ve exchanged pet-sitting services adopts her. She lost her 20-year old cat recently and, although she said they don’t plan on getting another cat, her teenage daughter really wants one so, one can only hope! I have two 3-year old cats, sisters, one of whom is wise and gentle, the other is a hellion and extremely jealous of attention paid to others, even to my granddaughter. So I’m not wanting to add another cat to the household at this time. Plus I’ve been wanting to adopt a shelter dog but for various reasons have had to delay pursuing this action. So, we’ll see . . . My past experience with cats is they usually show up in my life when I’m not looking for one!
Wow, thank you for your care! It’s a lot of work bottle feeding a kitten, but I do hope she thrives. She’s lucky to have your kind intervention.
I had no choice but to save her life; she was too little and defenseless to leave her there
You can do it! That little kitten has you and I am sure with your care and dedication she will survive and bring happy moments in your life!
Thank you for your kind words. So far, so good . .
It seems like she found you for a reason. Thank you for taking her in and giving her the care she deserves.
Thank you for your kind words. See my reply to Deva for a ‘reason.’. What do you think of that?
Wow indeed!!! Oh I am wishing you both so much positivity and success. Thank You – I hope she makes it for your sake as much as hers!
Thank you. Positivity, yes! I really appreciate everyone’s support!
Ooh I think I can do a week of Berdoues! I’m excited for next week’s CP.
I sort of fit into this week’s CP. I’m in the gorgeous Jitterbug from the swapmeet, and it’s really quite a wonderful ambery incense. It is doing its best to keep me calm, but my work is doing its best to counter that feeling 🙁
It’s only 11:30 and I’m already pretty tired. When can I go home?!
The naps are coming, the naps are coming!
Sigh, I can’t wait! In the meantime, I’ve got tea to stabilize me.
I’m wearing Dame Sky Father today. I’m not sure how it fits in with the cp except that I didn’t have to overthink it so my morning prep was fairly peaceful.
Wearing Rundholz Feb. 14, 1912. A friend gave me a decant of this and I’m grateful for it! Anise, fennel, milk, white musk and some other notes but this is what I smell. Very unusual yet, to my nose, wearable.
I am grateful for spring and all the trees, plants, birds and insects that I encounter each day on my walks and the quiet miracles they perform as they grow, flower, nest build and buzz about. I was watching a man in the gardens holding a baby in his arms yesterday. They were standing beneath a flowering cherry tree in full blossom and the man kept reaching up and shaking the branch and the blossom fell like large pink confetti onto the baby ( about one year old) who was laughing and giggling with pleasure and excitement.
Thanks Robin for NST which has been a constant source of pleasure and distraction and information.
Ambre des merveilles for me on another crisp, clear morning .
What a lovely image!
It was really sweet and both adult and child were completely absorbed in the moment
Very happy about Spring in the South!????????????????????????????????
We’re meant to have snow next week but I am blanking that out
As a lover of nature, I’m so grateful for the various wildlife that I see right in my own yard. With birds alone, I can see everything from hummingbirds and vermilion flycatchers to Harris’s hawks and great horned owls on a daily basis. I’d never get that variety in a more urban neighborhood.
That’s such a wonderful story! What a lovely thing to witness.
That Harris’s hawk has wonderful colouring and how interesting that they hunt in packs. We have an australasian harrier hawk in the pines next to our house -it must be about 15 years old. Also ruru ( morepork) a native owl. And I’m waiting for the shining cuckoo to turn up from its migration from the Solomon Islands…any day now!
Hooray, it’s Friday!
I’m in N°5 EDP.
I chose it in a roundabout way. I was contemplating what to wear last night and off the top of my head couldn’t think of anything in my collection that explicitly references peace or gratitude. As I was starting to delve into which perfumes make me *feel* peaceful or grateful, I was struck by the idea of using the language of flowers as a guide. I settled on dark pink roses, which symbolize gratitude/thankfulness. From there it was pretty easy: dark pink roses -> rose de mai -> Grasse -> Chanel -> N°5.
Here’s to gratitude. Here’s to peace. And here’s to a lovely weekend for you all, NSTers. ???????? ????
Almost twins!!????????✌????❤️
????????♀️Totally twins! You were just born first!????
Lovely sentiment.
Thank you, Petunia.☺️
Many touching comments today.
Wearing Encens Flamboyant, I decided it was my most peaceful scent.
I almost grabbed Eau de Neroli Dore this morning too but in the end I took a decant of Chanel Paris-Biarritz with me to use.
Wearing Penhaligon’s Artemisia today–a lovely little powdery scent that is so skin-hugging, I can even wear it to yoga. So now I think of peace and calmness when wearing it because of the yoga association.
Artemisia is one of my favorites. Peace and calmness, indeed.
22:30 CAT.TGIF!
I’m greatful for awesome friends,a great job,a beautiful apartment, and having “just enough” of things…clothing…food…perfume. My life is peaceful, and I made sure to cut out most of the noise from it,be it so-called friends, and even family members.
SOTD!Chanel No.5 Parfum. What can go wrong on a day wearing this?Nothing.I had a wonderful Friday, changing my apartment from “Winter wardrobe” to “Spring/Summer 2018/2019”.My Mother taught me this, that like with your wardrobe, you change the look and feel of your home seasonally as well.Summer curtains, fresh scatters,a lighter throw on the bed.It all feels fresh and ready for Summer!
What a week!
We have an extra long weekend, not working on Fridays and Monday is a public holiday.P(the bestie) is coming over for a swim and a barbeque tomorrow till Sunday. We always have fun together, even if we just talk crap till 3am.
Be well friends!
Peace!✌????✌????????❤️
Can’s spell tonight…lol.Greatful/Grateful??????????♂️????????♂️✌????????
I love this idea of changing the look and feel of your home by season. I may adopt it.????????????
Have a lovely weekend ????????
Thanks CM8!Hope your weekend is awesome as well!????????
You smell fabulous! An excellent choice.????It can’t help but get your weekend off to a good start.
Yep, the house gets those seasonal changes in my family, too.
I do the same at home on every season. Curtains, tablecloths, placemats, bed and bath clothing, cushion covers, kitchen towels, etc, etc, etc. It is so refreshing and revitalizing,
Your weekend sounds perfect! Enjoy it! ❤????
Enjoy your long weekend, Johanob. Chanel No 5 parfum is such a classy and choice.
Just a quick hi because my time is being fully occupied by doing things to help my mom get more acclimated to her new senior apartment, checking on medications and home health workers, assessments, etc. We did have a fun outing to a beautiful shop with antique quilts and I bought one! Grateful my mom can still enjoy many things and has a sense of humour. You can see my quilt here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/94283635@N00/30958182448/in/dateposted/. (Mom is a few shots away in my photo stream there too in the same shop.) (I’m one of the bad Flickr photographers, sorry, should share more.) I’m wearing the beautiful extravagant Indult from Isvarya just to get a lift from it.
Love the photos and gosh your mum looks so full of spark. That quilt is beautiful. Hope your hip is fairing well.
Gorgeous quilts, thank you for sharing. Your mother looks very happy in the shop
Gorgeous quilt — and it looks to be in fantastic condition.
And hey, did not mean to make anybody feel bad for copyrighting their photos. There are all kinds of good reasons NOT to share, I do get that, not least being if you post a lot of pictures of your private life and don’t necessarily want them floating around the webs 🙂
Wearing Lush Breath of God today.I find it to be a scent that grounds me in the rush of everyday life.
My other favorite scent when I think of peace is The Body Shop White Musk.Unfortunately, the current version is nowhere near the scent I first purchased years ago and I have none of my older bottles left.If I had known they would destroy it I would have stocked up!!
I feel exactly the same about the Body Shop White Musk. I have the perfume oil from I think 2006 that I’m hoarding
Smelling good in the cloud of Angelique Noire- I did one spray on each hand- this juice is potent!
I received my mini of Bottega Veneta Eau Legere today-hooray! Dabbed some on my wrist-mmmmm, beautiful and so elegant, will be perfect for this fall!
I love BV Eau Legere—congratulations!
Oh you guys, I’ve been trying to post all day but keep getting busy. I am so grateful for the weekend right now! One more hour of work to go.
I’m being literal and wearing Olympic Orchids Peace. It has notes of New Caledonian sandalwood, frankincense, cedar, and some other good stuff.
I didn’t get a chance to post yesterday but I wore Bas de Soie from a decant gotten from the swap meet. I so enjoy that one.
You are very on theme. I’m reading up from the bottom of the comments, but maybe you win!
Well, I was very pleased with myself for remembering at the last minute, despite my frazzled rush, that it was Friday, and thus I am wearing… one of my Top Ten of Fall perfumes, Mauboussin Histoire d’Eau. (Whoops.) Mandarin orange, myrtle, and leather. Leather always says fall to me, and the perfume itself is a perfect blend of warm and cool, excellent for a change of seasons. I wish they would bring this one back. It is perfectly unisex, by any standard, and I think it would do better now than it did at the time.
Now that I think about it, despite my being a week behind on the theme, it will work for World Gratitude Day as well. (Maybe also International Day of Peace— I mean, if everyone smelled this good, it would help the cause.) I bought this bottle of HdE, gently used, from Karin, a fellow NSTer, along with a bottle of Roberto Cavalli Oro, one of my Top Ten of Everything. She was moving, and threw in a bunch of extras. I am very grateful for the perfume community, a bunch of lovely and generous persons, and for Robin and NST, who allow me to be a part of it, despite my refusal to join Facebook. I was reminded by the recent Swapmeet of what a privilege it is to interact with all of you. I don’t post as often as I used to, and had to give up trying to read every post on all my favorite blogs, but I want to thank you all for being here. Hey, if we ran the world, we might have peace. ???? Now I feel fully on theme.
Perfect!!
You make HdE sound delightful, and you must smell terrific.
Cool and windy here, perfect for Musc Ravageur.
