It's Monday, and it's the first day of Constitution Week. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm running late, in Cartier Baiser Volé Essence de Parfum.
Reminder: 9/21 is the International Day of Peace *and* World Gratitude Day. Wear a fragrance that fits.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Birch and Argan and orange Sanguine
Well YES to Orange Sanguine!Love it
????????????????????????????
I really should have worn OS more over the summer. Remind me in about 9 months, would ya?
I will also recommend it in the winter as a mood lifter!!
Try it in winter. It smells like Christmas to me ❄⛄????
Gonna be hot today (such a weird summer we’ve been having) but this morning is relatively cool so I feel at home in Molinard Habanita: it’s the most recent iteration but it still feels old-fashioned in the best way, almost vintage — complicated and deep, nothing boring or done-to-death about it. And it reads as a unisex, borderline-masculine floral oriental. It’s so great.
hot here today too! it has been a strange summer, we had fewer long stretches of high temps, but many excruciatingly hot evenings. stay cool! 😉
So strange that it is hot both North and South!Wonderful 31C here today!
Mmm I love Habanita. You smell gorgeous.
You smell great. Same here, have never tried the vintage but the modern one is so good, I don’t feel the need to. It’s quite powdery on me.
Same and same
Wearing Encens Mythique d’Orient on a cool Sept morning
You can come sit next to me.
You smell great! I’m envious: I can’t wear this one to the office. It was one of a few perfumes about which my sensitive co-worker had complaints – and by agreement I avoid wearing those that, as he thinks, aggravate his headache (most likely, I just happen to wear those when he already had that headache, and I’m not sure he would even recognize those several that he “banned” but I don’t want to experiment with that 🙂 ).
Mmmm that one is amazing… I am saving my sample for the cold weather
That is such a fantastic scent! Even my perfume-indifferent mom likes that one. You smell gorgeous!
SotM = Assam of India
gosh, I love this stuff. It perks me right up. Will likely add something else later today. Possibly Jardins de Bagatelle as I crave white flowers lately.
Yes! to Peace and Gratitude, these are so important, and can shift a bad day into a good one.
The world is what you believe it to be
It changes as you change.
–Byron Katie
Try it in the winter too????
excellent idea!
I kept my daughter home from school today, she wasn’t feeling well and neither of us got much sleep. It will be a day of rest for us both. I’m very grateful to a generous Nster to be wearing vintage Zen today.
Yum.You smell delicious!Hope you guys find some “Zen” today!❤️
Thanks johonob! Here’s hoping!
Hope you both get some rest. I remember the moment it dawned on me that my 3 young ones would pass germs around and I might never get any rest again. We all survived those days somehow!
Lol, I found myself thinking, uh oh, I think we shared a pop the other day…
Hope your Zen brings you Zen????????????✌️
So far, so good ????
???????? I hope your daughter and you have a day of rest and improved Health, lillyjo. ????????????✌
Thanks ????????
I hope you and your daughter had a good rest today.
Voyage d’Hermes today to face a stressful week at work. Soldiering on!
I hope it’s a fast week for you. Good luck!
Good luck for your week ahead!
Smell Good and Soldier On. Our version of “Keep Calm and Carry On.”
Love it!
This is a favorite of mine – and perfect for tough days
Good luck ????
Bonzai! Go forth!
Took the day off to attend to some personal business.Gaultier Le Male…ah yessssss,my old friend. After all these years,it just still smells so.damn.good.It my first fragrance purchase with “my” money(first paycheque back in 1997),and I thought it smelled like nothing else out there.Being in the outback of perfumeland(South Africa, lol),nobody else was wearing it at the time, and everyone said it smelled beautiful. After looting my Mom’s Madame Rochas and Anais Anais, and a bottle of Calvin Klein Escape for Men,this was my signature fragrance for about ten years or so.It is still love.
Happy Monday All!!
❤️✌????
I love Anais Anais!
Me as well!I still wear it from time to time.❤️
I do, too, and am duly impressed that you wear it!
I do try.Lol.The only perfume I cannot pull off entirely(don’t know why!!)is Cristalle.
It’s so great when visiting old loves still feels and smells good!
Yep!I totally agree!I wanna start singing “I will always love you”(the Dolly version,lol)whenever I spray Le Male!????????♂️????????♂️????✌????❤️
Of course the Dolly version! Is there any other?????????????
The Dolly Parton version is the only version.
Haha!What Lisa D said.????????????????✌????
oooooh, you so smell good! I have a sample of this and didn’t “get” it at the first try, but there is something about it that makes me want to keep trying it.
Keep trying and do report back!!Thanks for the compliment!❤️❤️✌????
A friend of mine wore (lashings of) Le Male for years. Once when I was out shopping he spied me and tried to sneak up and surprise me. I could smell him coming and spoiled the surprise attack 😉
Haha, well there is no other way to wear it than lashings and lashings…They know I am around at work when I wear Le Male, too…lol.(today I think was 15 or so bodysprays and some frequent top-ups on clothing whil I am home….lol)
I know I know….I reek!!!????????♂️✌????
You are smellin’good ????
Why thank you CM8!So do you!????????????????
????????????
✌???? You smell good, Johano! Le Male smells better on others than on me.
☕☕☕????????????✨MKK today and yesterday, lots of compliments from Gay Men and Straight Women yesterday. Animalic, powdery, naughty! LOLOLOL ????????????
No stout yesterday, decided to be designated driver. But I was intoxicated by……..Saltine Crack Toffee!

Hahaha!Well you do smell mighty fine in that MKK Bear!Of course all the boys would want to lean in and take a whiff/bite?Lol.
Enjoy your toffee,it does sound yummy!
????✌????❤️????????
You’ve had great taste in perfume from early on.
Thank you!My Mom had great taste,I am glad it rubbed off on me.
What a great story! There’s something special about those first big “investment” purchases that you make when you first start making your own money.
Oh boy, totally! My first car(a red Fiat Uno…lol) was an EVENT of note!!I wanted to take everyone for a spin Lol!Good memories, too.✌????❤️
I’m wearing Bois d’Iris today, the very last of a decant. Time for a new decant. Wish I could afford a full bottle.
The Van Cleef?(If it is you smell INCREDIBLE!!)
I am considering splitting this one.
Not to be an enabler but I see tester of this all the time on eBay. I don’t know your tolerance for the grey market but they are pretty great prices.
I was going to say exactly this (also new or used, boxed or unboxed bottles.) Fragrancenet has it as well; I was just there looking for a different VCA. The Extraordinaires tend to be very affordable despite their high price tags when they launch (and the steep price of decants.)
Oh – unless it’s TDC Bois d’Iris. That’s harder to find at a decent price.
Oooooh, duh! I totally assumed it was the VC&A one. I’m stalking Cologne Noire on eBay but I have the whole collection as a saved search.
One of my favorites. I wore it yesterday.
I am testing out the sample pack of Essential Parfum I got off of lucky scent.
I am testing two one is The Musc and the other is Nice Bergamote
Musc notes are Ginger, beeswax, lavender, sandalwood, musks
Nice Bergamote are bergamot, Jasmine Grandiflora extract, natural cedarwood extract, ylang ylang, tonka bean
Bergamote is very “sunny” perfume and I don’t get a lot of cedar which is great because cedar equals hamster cage on me. This one would smell refreshing on a man and I would want to come a little closer for a nice inhale..IMHO
The Musc is very faint and close to the skin and doesn’t have as much projection at the Bergamote.
Tomorrow I will test another two.
Good notes there!
Hello everyone! Hope you had restful weekends.
Yesterday I went to one of my local antique malls and found a bottle of Tendre Poison, only mostly used. Then in the very next booth I found a full bottle of Byzance EdT at a great price, which I just discovered a few weeks ago. I already know what Byzance smells like so I picked the Poison today. I don’t have any definite opinions yet, other than in is BIG.
Byzance is so beautiful.I really should dig out mine from storage.
It really is! I’ve only tried the EdT, so now I’m dying to find the much-pricier EdP. I hope you get to wear it soon.
Tendre Poison is big, but so beautiful. I have to be in the right mood to wear it though. You are so lucky with your perfume finds. The only thing I ever found was Perry Ellis and a Gwen Stefani.
It really is pretty. I can see why my bottles previous owner went through probably 70ml.
I’m am very lucky, it’s true. I’m always on the lookout for perfume while my boyfriend is busy looking at the furniture. Still, it doesn’t hurt that I live in such a big city; I’ve always got a new place to explore. 🙂
Wherever it is that you live seems to be a perfume wonderland! Your shopping is legendary and envy-inspiring 😀
I’ve never smelled Tendre Poison. I thought it was one that was ubiquitous at my high school until I finally looked it up and realized it was released long after my graduation date. I have spent some time looking for bottles, though, and it’s crazy $$$.
Enjoy and congrats!
As I said to lillyjo, I get very lucky. I’m always on the hunt though!
I’ve always been curious about Tendre Poison. I never saw it in the malls as I was growing up, nor is it mentioned often. I’m glad to finally smell it! I can make a sample for you if you’re in the US. It’ll just be a little vial but I’m happy to let you try it if you’re curious! My email is out of grasp at live dot com.
Oh, wow, I’d love to try some! Will reach out soon –
Antique store finds are so thrilling! Enjoy!
I get very excited. Plus I was so excited to see the Byzance after already picking up the Tendre. Plus it was such a steal I almost felt bad.
It’s hot today and still technically summer so I’m trying DSH Maui — nice coconut/monoi.
Sounds perfect — would have been a good antidote to the gloomy day we’ve had here.
I’m giving my sample of Putain des Palaces another go, hoping it doesn’t veer too much towards my childhood daycare (or, if it does, that the daycare stage doesn’t last long). I’ve been resistant to so many of EldO’s fragrances, but I bought them just as I was getting into niche – I feel like I owe them all another chance.
Oh interesting that you get THAT from Putain,of all fragrances!Lol!It’s a BIG perfume for sure.Which other ones do you enjoy?(Our friendship depends on your answer…lol)
Lol. I know! It’s so wrong, but the powderiness of it skews very baby wipe on my skin. I think we have gotten past that stage, though, thankfully.
My favorites right now? Ooh, I am all over the place. I have been loving Mitsouko, Tobacco Vanille, Gallivant’s London, and Bat. I am honestly just loving being able to explore after a few decades of not being able to – I had terrible allergies that are just now under control thanks to shots.
Oh cool Starling!Mitsouko is beautiful, and I enjoy Tobacco Vanille a lot myself. We can be friends.Haha!✌????????????(Glad your allergies are under control,in order to enjoy perfumes!????)
I love many ELDO’s but find PdP kind of gross…
I can definitely see and sympathize with that! I am still not sure about it…
Hee hee! I love Putain 🙂
Am also thinking that it could be worse than one’s childhood daycare smelling of baby wipes. Then again, if that’s not an association you want, there are a lot of perfumes that’ll get crossed off the list.
In the last remnants of Chergui and I can’t wait to get home and smooch my pooch! I miss her when I’m at work.
Monday. Yech! Really wishing I could fast forward to Tuesday morning at 7am!
Doggie kisses are the best when you get home.Plus whatever is left of Chergui on you must still smell awesome!✌????
I kinda do smell awesome! ????
Hey now, quit trying to speed up my day off ????
No, your day off should last at leeward a week! ????
*least a week!
Chergui is so lovely. I am probably going for a full bottle as soon as my sample runs out.
Sounds like great plan!
If either of you wants to split a bottle I’m in for a few ml. (or 10)
I have a FB courtesy of Fragrance net, although I’m a bit peeved because I only had a 30% off coupon and not the 37% so many are talking about ????
But did the thirty percent get you to free shipping without having to add on stuff you really don’t want? I always concider that, because it kinda equals out in my head.
I had that 37% coupon in my cart, then it disappeared. I *may* have gotten it by clicking thru an ad here on NST.
You need to go out to retailmenot.com to get the 37% code if it doesn’t pop up on the fragrancenet site.
You smell awesome today Deva. Waft some my way.
I’m still up in Michigan where the weather has been glorious but quite warm; already 80 and forecast to get to 86 later! (=30C). But at least it’s low humidity and it cools off at night, unlike back home in Houston. I’m wearing Azemour les Orangers. I’ve enjoyed watching the hummingbirds come to the feeder in my brother’s back yard, but I want to tell them, “This warm weather won’t last much longer–you’d better start to fly south soon!”
I’m in Cleveland where the weather has been just beautiful for the last couple of weeks (save a few days of cool rain.) I saw a monarch butterfly (I think? Or a butterfly with similar coloring) and thought it must be awfully far away from its winter home!
I just learned recently that the Cleveland area (especially the lakefront, I think) is a regular stop on monarch butterflies’ migration journey. I’ve been seeing them all over! I was in mid-Michigan over the weekend and they were showing up there too.
Summer nights in Michigan are the best. Calypso, I hope you’re in a place where you can see the fireflies at night!
Ah! Thanks for confirming! They’re pretty neat to be able to see.
Sampling Bogue Gardelia which I am fortunately not head over heels for since it is a very pricey limited edition that Lucky Scent is out of.
Money saved
SOTD is Issey Miyake Le Feu d’Issey Light. I had a bottle of it 10-15 years ago. An unusual mix of peppery, citrus and creamy woody notes. So glad I got a decant of this one.
This review on Fragrantica made me smile: “Warm milk spilled on a table?! Yuck! Bad advertising”. I remember finding this part of the scent’s description especially appealing. Yum, not yuck for me. 🙂
I’m with you! I like that mental image, and I enjoyed that perfume when it was released. I prefer it to the regular version.
You smell great!
Thank you! And yay for liking that mental image. 🙂
You must smell wonderful. I have a small bottle of le feu because I bought it when it was released. I also want to thank you for the mini reviews of Picking Apples versus Forbidden Games, very helpful.
Thank you.
I am sorry to say I am not the person who reviewed those two scents though.
I found one of those wacky purse sprays of FdI Light recently and I really like it. It is very very soft on me though, so I find myself preferring the original. Which I’m lucky enough to own as well.
Not sure if this fits this week’s theme, but it would have been perfect for last week’s. I’m in VCA Bois Doré (thanks to a swap pal!) and it is so gorgeous it almost makes me excited for winter (okay – not really) but definitely makes me excited for fall.
Lately more and more perfumes with woody notes go sour on me, and sometimes not until deep in the drydown. If this one doesn’t go south on me, it just might end up on my FB list *fingers crossed*
You smell lovely 🙂 If you decide to buy, I found that one at Fragrancenet last year (no affiliation) for a quite bearable price. And before it was launched officially in the US, too! Odd. It’s strange how long the lag is between VCA’s European launches and their US launches.
I have a bottle sitting in my fragrancenet cart 🙂 It still hasn’t turned on me ???? so it’s a contender ????
Strangely warm here today–temps are cooler, but we haven’t gotten to crisp fall days just yet. So I’m in Matin d’Orage for a last little bit of summer.
No crisp days here either.
Trying to thunk up the last few ml of my long-loved Olene decant in anticipation of finally getting a FB from the swap! Happy Christmas in September to all who participated.
And oldie but goodie…glad Olene still has fans!
SotD is Eau des Merveilles Bleue
On a warm and sunny september day.
Last weekend my Zoologist samples arrived!
Wow! Canada-Europe mail is fast 🙂 (i ordered them last wednesday)
Tyrannosaurus rex is very Gardoni, very nice, already a contender for the buy-list
I also like Civet, but its slightly too sweet. Must retry in colder weather i guess.
The 3rd sample I ordered was Elephant, I hope to try it somewhere this week!
Eee I have a sample of TRex winging its way to me too, can’t wait! I hope you love Elephant, it is one of my favorites of the line.
I’ll let you know!
I think I ordered it because someone here gave it a positive ‘review’…maybe it was you. 🙂
…but the drydown of Civet is very very nice!
Oh and Civet lasts forever. I can still detect it up close (after almost 20 hours)
I want the sample pack in the worst way! ????
The big sample pack seems like a good deal, and nothing wrong with a whole zoo in my sample collection!
But decided to do the sensible thing and just order the ones I was most eager to try…
you see, I also splurged on a nailpolish (19 euro for a tiny amount of paint is splurging imho haha), and earrings….and a ring… so enough with the fancy stuff this month. I also need to pay bills.
Breaking into musk samples from Sylvaine Delacourte today.
Trying out Dovana and Florentina. Dovana is coconut musk to my nose and Florentina is iris musk. Both are nice but not that exciting…will see how they wear.
I have not read the new Perfume Guide but I think someone posted they were not very impressed or complimentary to this line perhaps.
I think it was me – yes The Guide was very dismissive. But I ordered the musk sampler anyway because I overall liked the vanilla one.
Just looked it up and yeah, they are not fans. No review for Dovana, but Florentina is described as a “cloying, misbegotten mishmash of mimosa and almond notes.”
Haha, yes and that’s the one I liked the best.????
Me too
It’s very very pretty. But I’m totally on board with any kind of almond and mimosas mishmash ????
Yup so am I LOL ????
Yes, I quite like the Florentina. It has a wonderful smoky vanilla drydown too.
Sign me up for a mishmash of mimosa and almonds!????????????????
There’s Iris in that Mish mosh too… it’s quite good!
SOLD✌????????????♂️????????
johanob – the samplers were just under $5.50 USD with free shipping when I bought mine a couple of weeks ago.
I was not impressed by that line, but that is just me. Let Your Nose be The Guide…
Couldn’t agree more!
That’s always good advice.
I think I’ve tested all 5 at this point and liked them all, though some more than others. But I’m not looking for an exciting musk – more like bedtime cuddlefluff.
Did you get the vanilla sampler, too? Mine just arrived and I’ve only tested one thus far.
Let us know which you like from the vanilla – Virgile was my favorite
Yes, I got the vanilla sampler too…each was only $4 including shipping so I paid $8 total for the two samplers. Seems wrong almost…an awful lot of fun for $8. ????
Monday, once more. A co-worker was supposed to complete something I’m waiting on over the weekend, but didn’t so… a thumb twiddler Monday, so far. To be followed later this week by full-on panic, of course, when the stuff I’m waiting on finally arrives. Can’t wait for that to start.
Lovely weather here recently, cooler temps. Like! I started on winter-is-coming chores: stacked firewood yesterday.
Over the weekend we went to the symphony in SF. It was a struggle getting husband’s bum arm into a suit jacket but he insisted so… struggle we did. The headline number was Copland’s Appalachian Spring which was indeed lovely, but the hit for us was Yuja Wang playing Ravel’s concerto for the left hand. Impressive, and my husband particularly enjoyed it, seeing as he is a piano player and his right arm is currently out of order. Fortuitously appropriate 🙂
Your story about concerto for the left hand made me smile – thanks. I hope your husband’s arm is healing as quickly as possible.
Breathe in, out, in, out… and now tell us what perfume you’re wearing 😉
Perfume! I knew I forgot to mention something! Today I’m sampling… Hermes Myrrh Eglantine at the moment. Rose myrrh. Pleasant but not for me.
Husband is improving… impatiently (sigh). He started physical therapy last week and is having a big snit that he’s not all better yet. I want one of those inflatable baseball bats so I can gently whack him over the head.
LOL! Men generally have low patience for any kind of physical infirmity. My dad and husband are big whiners on that front.
I also found Myrrh Eglantine to be meh on me. I really want Cedre Sambac and Agar Ebene.
Do you think he will try that left handed concerto? 🙂
I suspect that Ravel piece is well beyond his skills… and he can’t read music, plays by ear… I did buy a recording though so perhaps he’ll try it if he can listen to it repeatedly. (Hope I still like it if I hear it bar by bar a million times over.)
I’ve seen inflatable Pocky sticks. Would that do?
Haha! Clearly your H needs to start working on that Ravel piece! I’ll buy tickets when he tours ????
Mugler Cologne. It was just the pick-me-up I needed for this morning.
I’d love to try the new Mugler cologne flankers, but I’m really trying not to buy samples unless I absolutely can’t find them anywhere else. Anybody know of any department stores where I could test them out?
I saw them all in Nordstrom this weekend. I still like the green one the best (though I tried them all only on paper).
Thanks for the tip! I’ll check there. Is new green cologne any different from the original?
Wait – there’s a Nordstrom here? I swear I looked it up and couldn’t find any remotely nearby…
Yup! In the Beachwood Place mall. It’s excellent for sniffing – there’s a Nordstrom, Saks, Dillard’s, Sephora, and Lush.
THAT is very good to know!! It’s my favorite store for sampling. I wonder why it didn’t show up in my store locator search? I looked it up after buying something from Nordstrom online.
Box of Eels this morning. It’s foggy and cool here. Fall seems to have arrived all of a sudden.
You smell great, and I almost went with it once I read your comment in the morning. But then I got distracted… Maybe tomorrow!
Smelling fantastic today!
Cool, and foggy early morning today! Will warm up to sunshine and 70F, which is perfect.
Am in Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere today over Sandalo soap. It’s rather nice and VERY light, very synthetically pretty blend of warmth and subtle sweetness. Very office friendly,.
Jealous of your weather!
Had a bit of laugh filling out Arielle Shoshana’s perfume matching quiz. What it lacked in percipience it made up in entertainment! (Of the nine it identified for me, 4 I have tried and felt “meh” about. 1 I did not like at all. And 1 I cannot remember but I did try it once. The remaining three are Coze, Flashback in New York, and Burning Leaves.)
Drained my sample of Beloved today. I have enjoyed it so much, but am feeling I need a break from major perfume purchases for a while (helping my son figure out where he wants to apply to college has had a curious impact on my spending proclivities…)
Fun/weird fact: This morning my beloved husband (speaking of beloved) watching me tie my shoes, says, “Ah, yer wearin’ brothel creepers. Ay, didna know you had ’em.” Brothel creepers!?!?! Who knew! Can’t tell if I secretly am enjoying the seedy British description of my shoes or not. It was definitely a first for me.
So what are brothel creepers, in American terms?
I had fun playing with the quiz too. And was duly entertained that its selections for me were 100% off target. I’d tried them all before, and disliked them all. But it was entertaining 🙂 While I’m twiddling my thumbs here at work, maybe I’ll play with the quiz some more and see if I can figure out which answers actually get to scents I like 🙂
Here’s what elicited the comment: https://www.clarks.eu/c/Teadale-Maira/p/26137388
So, far from brothel… but my husband made a big huff huff about the crepe soles…. you know, for creeping…
This is the same guy who goes a bit purple whenever someone mentions a “fanny pack.”
Those shoes looked very 90’s to me.
That was a fun way to put off doing more work by a few minutes! The quiz wasn’t precisely wrong for me. I’ve tried five of the suggestions, and while none of them are my favorites, I like all five of them well enough 🙂
I took the quiz too, fun!
We use the term Brothel Creepers down here. Also, different shoe but ‘ co- respondent shoes’ for the two-tone lace up. In Germany my friend used to call my shoes ” schnell f*#%^*+” which was a term I’d never heard for slip -ons.
I fear I haven’t started my pile of non fiction yet ( getting back to your weekend post) but I really enjoyed There, there by Tommy Orange which is set in Oakland in the lead up to a pow-wow.
Ahh. There’s dignity in co-respondent (says she creeping around goodness knows where on her fat, crepe soles)!
There, There is on my list!!! Supposed to discuss Sing, Unburied Sing at our book group this weekend and I have been procrastinating on starting it–apparently it is shatteringly (made up that word!) depressing. Been sticking to political mirth as an alternative, but better get started on the novel soon !
Oops meant to also comment on your ” schnell f*#%^*+” —must be because they are so fast and easy to put on?
And take off..know what i mean???!!
Naughty!
Wearing Knightsbridge on this chilly morning. I’m really enjoying my little decant of it, but I’m not convinced I will need any more of it once I’m done with it. It’s easy and delightful, but not particularly special.
Super excited to have mailed out all my swaps! And even more excited to be getting swaps back!!! I am doing one swap with Canada (I’m in the US) and it really isn’t scary at all. A 15-oz package costs ~$15 to ship if you get the packing slip via PayPal. That’s not so bad for the right swap.
PayPal would be the way to do it. I tried USPS, UPS and FedEx and chickened out since all 3 had their intl shipping policies clearly stated at the counter…
Knightsbridge rocks my world in the cooler weather. It is the only bottle I ever paid full retail for 2 X to get one bottle ( ask me about my opinion of the Royal Mail)
Ahaha. I’m pretty sure you’re the reason I got Knightsbridge! Didn’t you say it smelled like happiness flying with angel wings or something similarly enthusiastic? I expect part of why I find it less exciting is that I remember the disappointment of expecting the perfume to be magical and finding it only to be great.
…What’s your opinion of the Royal Mail?
I think I did trigger the Knightsbridge frenzy 🙂
Royal Mail is completely unreasonable about perfume shipping. I fail to see how 1 oz of high quality perfume is more of a Dangerous Goods risk than an airplane full of jet fuel !!
That they steal a perfectly harmless bottle of Knightsbridge without any notification and do who knows what with it, frosts my biscuits.
( You did ask 😛 )
Oh no!!! Now I understand why you had to pay for your Knightsbridge bottle twice 🙁 🙁 Well…I hope my bottle gets to you with no problems!
I’m wearing the drydown of Stephane Humbert Lucas’s Blackgemstone on my collar bone. the perfume is still going strong (maybe because of the fabric at the t- shirt collar area). I now realised my nose has become quite sensitive to the smoky aromachemicals that he use. Thankfully my nose recovered after 1/2 hour. The drydown is really like lovely lemon incense sweet resin, Stephane does drydown well. I wore it to watch the new Predator, not sure why I did that. I thought I needed something smoky and dark to complement the movie experience but the Predator movie was so cheesy…urghh.
I am also wearing the drydown of Areej Le Dore’s Oud Zen on my wrist. I wasn’t that crazy about the skanky opening. It the drydown is where the magic happens. It’s still going strong on my wrist after 8 hours. I described the dry down as a strong balsamic sandalwood with hints of umami and dark tobacco.
Robin, you smell delicious. I wear the sparkling BV EDT in summer but with the cooler temps will be wearing the Essence quite soon.
In AP Caligna, a shapeshifter of a perfume on my skin, sometimes all pine needles, sometimes mostly figgy, and at times all herbal. At least it keeps me interested.
Thank you, and so do you!
About to do a bank run, get dog food and visit Malley’s Chocolates (a Cleveland chocolatier). I finally picked a scented thing for me, Amouage Epic in the bar soap form. Wish I had the means for the lotion right now but I don’t. I am wearing Rose de Nuit wishing I had the cash for a bell jar too.
Happy birthday Dawn ( bit late ). I hope you have a happy year.
Assam of India on this hot and humid summer day. Had to turn on the AC again.
…oh wait, it’s september 17.????
Lol I turned my heat on this a.m. 😉 But it has cooled off here – at least for today.
I usually save my rose scents for winter, but I found a sample of Diptyque’s Eau Rose in the back of my cabinet this morning and went with that. I remember not loving this back in February but I’m really enjoying it on this hot fall day.
Anyone ever done an IPL Photofacial? I’m considering trying it and would love to hear about others’ experiences.
I got some Eau Rose with a Diptyque gift set I bought mostly for the candles, and it ended up being my favorite of the lot. It’s nothing hugely original but it is awfully pleasing.
I remember thinking it was a little too sweet in cooler weather, but today it smells more like a classic rose with a bit of citrus to it – very nice! That said, I have a small Eau Rose candle (it was a GWP) and find it to be rather weakly scented for such an expensive line.
SOTD PdN LTdeF from the languishing few mls left in a decant.
I always associate this with mals- where are you, mals?
You smell lovely!
You’re right. Where is Mals? Hoping she’s just busy with life and having fun.
Not sure if you’ll see this tonight. If you see this you may want to pop over to Muse In Wooden Shoes.
Oof, thanks for pointing us in that direction.
wearing chanel paris deauville from a sample. it just smells like aromatics elixir to me. : / patchouli for days. why are the fragrances you don’t like so tenacious?
Yeah, why??
Wearing Vanilla Hinoki, but the weather might be a little too warm for it. Ordered a bottle of Oyedo to give to my husband for our 30th anniversary in a few weeks. Didn’t get anything for myself except for some Fazzolari samples – Ummagumma, Unsettled, and Fontevraud. Oh, and that Tauer 25 Annee scent. It’s been a long time since I ordered samples, and I’m looking forward to trying new stuff. I did use up over 100 samples so far this year.
Congrats on the Using It Up! Oyedo is good stuff. Yum.
Vanilla Hinoki is so refreshing. Impressive sampling this year!
Happy anniversary! You smell fantastic!
Congrats on the upcoming anniversary. Good on you for going through your samples
100 samples used up has to be some kind of Mega THUNK! Well done! ????
I was jarred awake by a call at 4:30 this morning by something work-related. Got on a call and then another one 30 minutes later. In between, I got ready for work and sent out emails. I’ve already pretty much worked a full day!
Anyway – I almost went commando but was saved at the last minute by my almost to be thunked sample if Kilian Woman in Gold. 3 spritzes and still going strong. Strangely, I detected an apple note – I need to investigate further.
I still have plenty of Zoologist T-Rex (3 or 5 mL increments) to swap for a donation to Florence relief or mental health advocacy. The super cute Twilly mini is still available – brand new in box – quite rare I think. You donate directly so not only do you get perfume, you also get a tax deduction AND a charitable organizations receives monetary support. Triple win! U.S. only.
Ooh, I’m up for the T-Rex decant! Will email you.
Yay. Thanks. I got it.
Someone from work called you at that hour?! Is that normal for your work? If my phone rang that early, I would think it was bad news.
It was a robo call which alerted a team to jump on a call. My line of business got lucky this time. I’m on call pretty much 24 x 7 but the frequency of actually having that protocol coming to fruition is rare. This is why when I play, I play hard to keep my batteries recharged.
I’m considering your Twilly – got a decant in the swap meet but today when wearing, I detected an aquatic note that I need to double check is NOT there (I cannot stand them) -I never noticed that before with Twilly. I agree that the bottle would be sooo cute!
I don’t enjoy aquatic notes either. When my brain thinks I am smelling something mineral, it usually gets a yes vote.
Holy smokes! Your day started stupid early!
Hope that doesn’t set the tone for the rest of the week.
Finished a sample of Chanel Paris- Deauville. Nice and fleeting, no need to run for the bottle 🙂
I just came back from vacation and still decided to post in the swapmeet topic-the best timing I know 🙂 Here is the link

Please take a look if interested. Will ship the package in a day or 2 the most after negotiation is over. Thank you!
I’ve so far only tried Deauville and I like it a lot. I agree on poor longevity but that is what 125mLs (I think that’s a thing size) bottles are for ????
???????????? It’s not the first full day of autumn until September 23. ????????????????????????
Is that good or bad for you? That’s 2 days later than I thought, so does that mean spring will be 2 days later? Because that would really be not fair. Not that Mother Nature ever consults me.
I play them as they lay, lillyjo. ♠❤♣♦Prefer warmer weather, but when it chills down I’ll deal.
It just seems that recently, everyone wants to be on to the NEXT instead of savoring the NOW.
Merry Christmas! ???????????? LOLOLOL ????????
????????????
You are so right. It’s very difficult for me to live in the present. I’m either trying to fix the past or see the future. I have made a conscious effort this summer to savor each day, and it’s been nice. Merry Christmas to you too!⛄????????
The head clinical psychologist at work did a training session on being present. I wanted to put up a Where are you today question on our whiteboard. I may still do it.
Thank you everyone for your kind messages about the loss of my beloved doggy, it’s been a terribly hard year. Hoping this new (Jewish) year will be a better one for me. Wishing a g’mar chatima tova to my Jewish NST friends for Yom Kippur tomorrow!
Wearing a bit of Spiritueuse Double Vanille.
I am so sorry to hear about your dog. Take care of yourself. So sad.
Hope you are feeling slightly better today and happy new year… hopefully things will look up for the new year.
Glad to see you today. Happy New Year to you.
You smell lovely!Sending Love and Hugs!!❤️❤️????
I am so sorry for your loss! It’s heart-breaking to lose a fur-baby. Try to remember the joy, not just the joy your baby brought you, but the joy you provided to him/her.
Thank you for that thoughtful reminder, you are so right. We brought each other so much joy.
I was so sorry to see the news about your dog. I hope this new year brings brighter days for you.
So sorry for the loss of your pup. Hope the new year is a better one for you.
Very sorry about your loss.
I am very sorry Cazaubon.
You picked a good one!
It’s conservation week here and one of the bushes I have been enjoying looking at recently is the kaka beak. A kaka is a NZ forest parrot ( it has a strange swoopy doopy call ) and the plant has kaka beak shaped flowers. It’s under threat in the wild but popular in garden centres and is spectacular. It doesn’t really smell . I wonder if people still hug trees?
I’m wearing Fiele Viola , beautiful.
Snow returned to Otago yesterday but we escaped with just a cold day.

How pretty and unusual! Glad you escaped the snow, wasn’t it 17C just the other day? Spring weather flip-flops.
Mother Nature likes to keep you on your toes.
What a beautiful shrub–those blossoms are gorgeous. I’d say it was well worth hugging. (viola sounds lovely–I’d not heard of Fiele before.)
Fiele perfumes are cool (though I’ve only tried three, baha) . Boswellia is on my list.
Wow, that kakabeak bush looks very tropical and exotic to my eyes. Like some kind of orchid.
Reve d’Ossian purring along all day in a quiet but persistent incensey balance of cold and warmy, then some Onda VdP for some swoony lovely evening scent after the gym.
One of the things I found out a few years back was that the Ossian poems were amongst the popular books brought to NZ by European settlers.
Interesting! Napoleon was also a big fan.
Do you know Calum Colvin’s work? Edinburgh artist, who did a series on Ossian and Macpherson: http://calumcolvin.com/Ossian.html
Started out with Bottega Veneta, but for some reason, this didn’t smell wonderful today, so I sprayed some Douce Amere over it, for sweetness (and also because I just sprinkled a tiny dash of Fennel Pollen into my tea, and I liked the licorice/anise note).
I have never had fennel pollen — is it good in tea?
It’s supposed to be fantastic in savory cooked dishes – I heard tell of it when perusing some food blog or other, and it sounded intriguing. It’s got a distinct fennel aroma (which is why I thought it might make a nice addition to my tea), and is reputed to take a dish to another level. I caved.
Thanks! I make fennel tea already and was wondering if it added anything new 🙂
I got excited in the (finally!) cool morning and put on Noir Exquis without thinking that it would warm up to 85F today. It warmed up but I’m still enjoying this cozy warm scent.
Yum — I should find my decant!
My SOTD was Cuir de Lancome. What a beauty!
Right now I am covered in new samples because I have no self control. So far I am loving Le Cri De La Lumiere (Props to ElisaP for bringing it to my attention) and Warszawa. Both are quite beautiful. Le Cri reminds me of Puredistance White. So far I want both. Hopefully, they will drop off my wish list with dedicated wear time.
Happy Monday All!
Sometimes I wonder if we’re the only hobbyists who wishfully hope the thing we just bought (please! please!) doesn’t work for us. 😀
Do cigar aficionados get sample boxes in the mail and cross their fingers that the contents within are not *too* delicious? 😉
But do cigar aficionados end up with more cigars than they can ever smoke?? (They might, I don’t know. I know knitters often end up with more yarn than they can use.)
I know some knitters with too much yarn and quilters with spare rooms crammed with fabric. I can’t relate to that. However, if someone I knew had a dedicated room for perfume, I’d think it was awesome! ????
So true and really funny when you think about it.
Cuir de Lancome is absolutely gorgeous! What a pity that Lancome axed it. ????☹
It is strange. Especially when considering some of the scents they’ve kept in their stable.
Chanel No. 19 EDT
Perfect! 🙂
Hello scent cousin!
It’s been a Manic Monday (cue the Bangles!)???? , so I am posting crazy late. I had a dentist appointment today, plus yet another one of the smoke detectors was complaining about a low battery. Ugh. And the grey clouds and rain returned today. It feels like Sunday’s gorgeous weather was just a mirage. ☔????
SOTD = back in my sample of Cristalle EdT. Calling in a bit of perfumed emotional support with this one. I also suspect that it flies under the radar in the dentist’s office, so I am not gassing anyone out.
We had a party cloudy day with high humidity. It will be raining here tomorrow. I know what you mean about the mirage. So tired of this weather. At least you smell great!
Thanks for the perfume compliment! I totally hear you on the weather. I hope it’s not a sign of what this winter is going to be like… that would be horrible!
Better late than never! We could use a nice sunny day!
I’m gonna say that we could use at least a week of nice sunny days! ????????????????????????????????
7 days would not be enough!
