Friday finally rolls around again! (Unfortunately, bringing Florence with it.) Our community project for today: wear one of your "top 10 of fall" fragrances (unless it's spring where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of spring" scents).
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
It's not really fall yet where I live, so I went with an old transitional favorite: Dzongkha by L'Artisan Parfumeur. I only thought of it because Coumarin and Mayfly wore it yesterday.
Reminder: 9/21 is the International Day of Peace *and* World Gratitude Day. Wear a fragrance that fits.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Byredo Gypsy Water, an autumn/holiday favorite. It was a long week – TGIF!
Ooh I got a sample of that in the swap, so excited to try it!
????
And tonight it will be Tea for Two as I decant for my swap partner!
yesssss
I love Gypsy Water. It’s fleeting on me but so good.
You smell great. Love Gypsy Water! House twin.
I don’t have any specific fall fragrances but I’m choosing to wear Bortnikoff’s Bonheur this morning. I’m in a mood for a calm resinous vetiver labdanum scent which happens in the mid and basenotes for this fragrance.
Hey, that does sound good!
This is on my sample list. The notes sound really good.
Hi all, SOTD is Chanel’s Coromandel, incense and woods, absolute heaven. 🙂
Breakfast is kefir/spinach/lime/mango smoothie w/ Cuban espresso.
I found this healthy lunch salad recipe on Food52, Kale & Bulgur Salad with Brown Butter Apple Vinaigrette. We made it to Friday! *happy dance*
You smell great! Coromandel is one of my all time favorites especially for autumn!
Thanks!
This is Tama’s bottle, which also gives me warm fuzzies.
Perfect autumn scent.
You smell wonderful!
I love Coromandel but it’s too warm yet for it here.
Undina, yep, Pacifica is normally 10-15 degrees cooler than the rest of Northern California.
Of course, in one week, we’ll hopefully have our two-week ‘summer’. Usually when Fog Fest (local street fair) comes around, the weather is sunny and warm. 🙂
Brown butter apple vinaigrette sounds amazing!
Thanks KellyC! Email me at ldetrich at yahoo dot com if you’d like the recipe. 🙂
I am wearing Chanel No. 5 EDP. It is very hot today, and we truly do not experience autumn here until late October, usually. Sometimes in November, I am still wearing shorts.
But No. 5 would smell great on a crisp autumn morning, so I chose it.
Shorts! In November?! I am green with envy.
Sometimes I envy the four distinct seasons in other places. I do love our winter though. It is very mild, most of the time. Last year it snowed for a few days and it got very icy. This was not normal for us. I know after that experience that I am not cut out for harsh winter weather.
You smell great! I think no 5 is seasonless. I like the edp in the heat equally.
Thanks. I agree. I wear it year round 🙂
I’ m in Chanel No. 5 eau premiere. Hi cousin!
Hello Cousin ! You smell great !
Smelling great today.
🙂
I need to move to your area! I would love to be wearing shorts in November! You smell great!
Come down and visit sometime 🙂
TGIF! Wearing CB I Hate Perfume Gathering Apples. A very nice, refreshing, light fall scent for another warm, muggy day. Busy day taking my mother to doctor’s appointments. Be well and happy Friday NST!
Such a beautiful picture, Robin!
We should be there, now!
No doubts!!!
Hope the appointments go well for your mom. Happy Friday!
Thank you! All appointments going well so far. You too have a nice Friday! ????
I hope the appointments go smoothly for your mom! And what a great Fall perfume choice!
Thank you! Mom is a little tired already, but she is handling it fine!
I always enjoy wearing Gathering Apples as an early fall scent!
???? Hopefully you will be able to share a pleasant meal with your Mother apres appointments, perfumelover67. ????????????
Ah! Bear! You already know! Looking forward to a nice lunch at a Japanese restaurant in a while. I am already starving! ????????????????????
I adore this scent. Excellent fall pick
I love it too! Perfect for early fall! ????????????????
That’s a fun perfume and perfect for today. Hope your day with mom goes smoothly!
It is lots of fun to wear it and very light. Perfect for a day like today!????
Hope all the appointments go without a hitch. Your smell the bestest! ????????
Thank you Deva! Enjoying a lot this perfume today!
I haven’t tried this perfume but the name seems very fitting out CP.
Hope you have the chance to try it soon. It reminds me of our fun times going apple picking early in the season. Fun and refreshing!
Good luck with the appointments! Your perfume sounds great ????????
Everything is going ok so far! Gathering Apples is a very nice scent and really fun to wear it!????????????????
I’ve always loved the sound of this perfume. But I’m allergic to apples, so it makes me unreasonably nervous.
Oh! Sorry to hear you are allergic to apples. This perfume is all about apples, so I am not so sure if you should try it.
Happy Friday!Hope all goes well with Mom!❤️✌????????????
Thank you J! Everything went fine. Having late lunch now!
Hello, apple note twin! ???????????????? Glad to hear that your day went smoothly today. ????
Hello note twin!???????????????? You smell great! The day went fine and resting now! Enjoy the weekend!
So pleased for you everything went well. Medical appointments can be stressful. I don’t know Gathering Apples, it sounds lovely and wonder if it’s similar to Kilian Forbidden Games.
Thank you Aurora! Gathering Apples is just the plain smell of a fresh, juicy apple. No more than that. Forbidden Games is more complex. A creamy, fruity, floral scent with a vanilla, honey base.
It is not feeling like fall here either today, so I am going with one of my top ten anytime fragrances: Le Labo Bergamote 22.
On my agenda for today is baking a banana cake with chocolate frosting for my youngest. She is a teenager today!???? Not quite sure how that happened. This is her first birthday as an “only” child, as her older sibs are away at college. This means an entire cake for 3 people. I’m not sure if this would be considered a good, or a bad thing?!
Happy Friday everyone!
Happy Birthday to your teen! I know I could manage that cake independently…
If I didn’t swipe a slice first!
Happy birthday madtownteen!!
Thanks Robin!
Ha! That’s what I’m afraid of. I always seem to be able to justify “I’m just gonna have one more little slice,” with “it’s only good when it’s fresh!”
Thanks for the birthday wishes.????
Have a great time celebrating, Happy Birthday to your teen!
Thanks lillyjo!
Sigh, cake. I watched a cake episode of British Baking Show last week and still have not satisfied the craving it created…
We love that show! Baking AND British accents! What’s not to like?!
Come on over, Minneapolis is about 4 hours when the traffic is light.????
That cake sounds delish! Happy birthday to the kiddo!
Thanks Deva! It’s my mom’s recipe and I must say it IS delish!????
Happy birthday to your baby! ( I say as I help my self to a piece of virtual that delicious sounding birthday cake). My oldest is turning 13 later this month.
Thanks coin-op! Happy early birthday to your soon to be teen!
Happy Birthday to your daughter! I hope you all will enjoy the cake.
I need to re-visit my sample of Bergamot 22, but I’m sure you smell perfect for the occasion.
Thank you!
Bergamote 22 is one of my favorite citrus’s and I find it to be pretty long lasting too.
Happy birthday to your daughter!
One cake for three (especially when one is a teenager) sounds quite manageable. 😀
Thank you! I’m sure we will have no problem finishing it!????
Your cake sounds wonderful! Happy birthday to her!
Thanks KellyC!
The cake sounds divine. I hope you have a lovely celebration.
Thanks sistine!
What a special birthday to turn 13 and I’m sure it will be a special cake too.
She actually requested this combo a few years ago and it is delicious! It’s her standard every year now.
Happy birthday to your daughter! ????????. The cake sounds divine! I can help you finish it! ????
Thanks pl67! Passing you a virtual slice.????
Happy birthday to your daughter!
Thanks LizzieB!
Happy Birthday to your daughter; that cake sounds so fantastic!
I remember having cake for breakfast when we were kids, just sayin’????
Happy Birthday to your newly-minted madtownteen!
Happy Friday !!
Wearing Le Petits Papiers – a simply stunning scent.
Hope everyone is safe and sound.
Yum. And I say that never having smelled it. I just want a bottle 🙂
And I hope so too.
Must try this!
Oh i cant wait for my sample to arrive!!
You smell amazing!
Happy Friday
PSA to my New Yorkers, just reading in the WSJ that Henri Bendel is closing after the holidays.
I am in Eau de Camille this morning in this sticky humid yucky wet weather! It’s not fall here yet
Oh, and sipping on matcha latte
That is important ????
Oh really?? I heard their perfume counter closed down several years ago and there were deals to be had. Now I’m thinking I should do a NYC trip soon!
Their perfume counter did close years ago and they stopped selling outside branded beauty stuff and were mostly selling accessories
And they also had a weird sort of accessories shop in a mall near me. I don’t think it did well.
wow..I didn’t know that they perfume shop closed. Anyways..now the whole shop will be closed
I really enjoyed the scented candles they had there…
I loved those candles, too
Wow, sad!
I had one of Bendel’s Gardenia candles that was nice. That store has been strange for a number of years…it used to have interesting scents. And I liked the brown/cream striped makeup bag I had years ago.
I’m not surprised it’s closing. I do actually have a number of their own brand scents. Should dig them out. There’s a summer one I still quite love. I got them all on deep sale.
Sad news. I’ve been to NYC around Christmas time, and I enjoyed their window decorations. I have a brown and white striped make up bag a friend gave me for my birthday a few months ago, and I love the HB pattern.
It’s Friday…all day!
Comparing Baccarat Rouge EDP and Extrait today…will weigh in with thoughts later.
Please do let us know your thoughts. I so want to try these.
Please do let us know. I know it has some naysayers, but I actually love the edp and it’s on my fb list.
Ooh, I love both, but love the EDP just a little more. Can I come sit next to you?
Please do. ????
They are both lovely. I find them quite similar but I may prefer the extrait a bit more. I really enjoy trying to find differences when comparing perfumes but these are very close to my nose. I think tnI extrait is a bit sweeter and more feminine perhaps and the EDP a bit more masculine in comparison.
I am dying to try the extrair. I love the EdP- please let us know!!!
I’m in a sample of Mugler Les exceptiones woodissime.. nice but not $225 dollars a bottle nice. It is already very cool at night here in the mountains but days are still warm. I just blind bought a bottle of Etro sandalo and am hoping it will be a nice comforting cashmere sweater type of perfume to wear this fall. A bottle of Cartier declaration EDT is on the way too! I highly recommend fragrancex for a grey market discounter.. their prices are a little higher than other sites but their shipping is lightning fast.
You express how I feel about the entire Les Exceptiones line. In a lot of ways, I feel Mugler delivers more interesting work in its mass market fragrances. Cartier Declaration is sublime. 2nd your recommendaiton of FrangranceX! 🙂
I liked chyprissime the best but I already own diptyque tempo which does the powdery lipstick patchouli thing better in my opinion, and at $60 a bottle less lol.
Ahhhh! I have and LOVE Tempo. You’re so right. It’s my favorite patchouli.
Yes. Can’t. Get. Enough. Tempo. Great stuff.
I’ve sampled most of them, and they are all well structured and interesting.
Oriental Express is worth $225 and the one I purchased. YMMV
????????
I’ve had the same experience with them. ????
Agree with you both. All very nice but OE is best. We are correct. ????
I’m wearing Safran Troublant.
Excellent choice
Yum! ????
You smell marvelous.
☕☕☕????☕☕☕
Labdanum Coriander Bay Leaf Styrax ????????????????????
Ambre Sultan Serge Lutens
What smells so good…?!
Uh, ME !!!!! ????????????
Switchboard Susan, won’t you give me a line ???????????????? These go to 11 ????????✌????????????
Oooh, You do you smell so good!
????????????????
You smell great! Ambre Sultan is a perfect fall/winter scent but for me to wear it I need a much colder weather.
I need coffee…
☕️!
☕☕☕????????????
Thanks! I had 2 cups already 🙂 Life is good.
One of my all time favorites – I have a 15 year old bottle that I’m officially hoarding because I fear a new bottle will not be the same.
My bottle is from 2000 and has about 5ML remaining.
I have a BUB purchased 8 years ago and will compare and contrast before I drain the original. ????????????????
You smell so wonderful!
????????????????
My favorite amber! You smell terrific Bear!
???? Thanks perfumelover67! ????????
I think I have a sample of this, I will dig it out tonight after work
???? Tell me what you think, when you do, lillyjo. ????????????????????✌
I will!
That is the amber of all ambers imho. You smell great!
Thanks madtowngirl ! Happy Birthday to your Daughter, and eat an extra piece of cake for me ! ????????✌????????????????
Bet Ambre Sultan smells fantastic on you.
It does, and thank you Jalapeno ! ????????????
You smell great in the leather/apple of Bosophore !! ????????????????????????✌????????????????
Traversee du Bosphore L’Artisan Parfumeur
UGH !!! For some reason I always misspell that perfume. ????????????✌????????????????
Yeah, I had to double-check my spelling when I first posted. I’m getting a big dollop of Turkish delight, complete with the powdered sugar, along with the leather tonight. The apple waved at me as it zipped past and disappeared. ????????????????
Chanel Cuir de Russie, a favorite for fall and also for whenever.
You smell glorious!
Glorious is the perfect description
I might join you in wearing it today. It’s a beautiful perfume.
Oh yes! Golden leather, perfect for fall.
One of the few leather scents I can wear! You smell wonderful!
Very beautiful !
Still feels quite a lot like summer here, so I’m in one of my top 10 of *any* season picks: Dior Dune.
Seriously right. Any season, any time. Dune is in top ten of all perfumery for me. Top 3, easily, of all Dior’s. Such a freak beauty.
Like summer here too! You smell great!
Dune is great stuff!
Most of my fall collection falls into the not work safe type of deal, and I am working today. My choice for work is Chanel no 22. Tomorrow is my birthday and I will probably be wearing vintage Bal or Shalimar.
You smell beautiful and happy early birthday!
Happy early Birthday to you!
Do I get it right: you mostly stop going to work in fall? (I can’t think that you’re not wearing your fall collection, right? 😉 )
Happy upcoming birthday! But come back tomorrow for the portion of timely congratulations.
I have a certain set of perfumes that I wear in fall but one or two are work safe. Kyoto, Zagorsk, and no 22 for work. Like I am going to work in Shalimar or vintage Bal, and I don’t want to ruin my Amouage perfumes by bad days at work.
Happy early birthday!
Happy birthday tomorrow!
All beautiful choices! Happy birthday!
Hapy Birthday for tomorrow!Hope it is a wonderful day!❤️????????✌????
Happy early birthday! Enjoy the day! ????????????
Happy day before your birthday!
Happy early birthday!
Happy early birthday! You will smell wonderful 🙂
Happy early Birthday! Enjoy your special SOTD! ????
Happy Birthday Eve!
Wearing Botrytis and trying to decide how to use a $50 gift debit card. Should I buy a bunch of samples, put it towards a reasonably priced scent (like Botrytis) or trawl eBay for whatever strikes my fancy?
Trawling on eBay sure is fun. Never know what gems you’ll find. 🙂
Hmmmmm…. Was the gift card a gift? Or is it more random type of refund that you just have to make sure that you use.
If it’s a gift – maybe use it for something you would enjoy but is more of a splurge and outside your budget – like the EBay trolling or a more a less $50 scent from a discounter
But if it’s more of a credit for something you already purchased, maybe use it for something within the lines of your perfume budget – like the samples or the Botrytis if you were def going to get that
What a perfect advice! I completely agree with your rationale.
???? thanks!
The gift card was an actual gift for my birthday a few days ago. My perfume budget went to getting a custom DSH scent done last week. Botrytis has been on my endless full bottle list for years so no urgency.
Happy belated Birthday!
How cool to get a custom scent from DSW, what a treasure and a great gift!
Good luck on your decision and keep us posted ????
It’s a little muggy, but not terribly warm this am. I went with Hendley Amora, mostly because I needed something brightly colored and cheerful in this endless sea of grey days. I like this one better in cooler weather even though it smells like summer stone fruits of the red variety. But it has a stewed, dense quality, with just a hint of wine-y rose along with a bit of ambergris giving it a bit of a chewiness that makes it a nice transitional weather scent. Love it!
That one is on my to-sniff list!
It’s s fun one and kind of addictive!
Its been such a gray week..will the sun please grace us with her presence.
For real! I couldn’t live in a place where it rains the majority of the time.
Wow. What a great description. I too am tired of the grey. The other day was what I term “hot fog”. Fog should be cold; it’s an abomination when it’s hot.
Just no to “hot fog” ???? It was pleasant temp-wise today and actually could’ve used a sweater at times.
Yech! I encountered hot fog for the first time earlier this week. It was totally gross.
Wearing Atelier Cologne Santal Carmin. Sampled for first time earlier this week & am in love. Usually, heavy, creamy sandalwood, a la Samsara, can bring on the migraine like a mo fo. Not here. Lime, saffron, cedar, papyrus, white musk & vanilla create a beautiful, non-linear journey. Almost effervescent at first, then sweet & spicy in the end. 1oz bottle now on the way. If I go through it still wanting more, that 6 oz gigantor bottle’s going on my Christmas list. 🙂
You smell great! Where did you find a one ounce bottle?
I have a 1 Oz bottle of an atelier that I bought from Lucky Scent – is that an unusual size for this line?
The 1 oz bottles have become much harder to find – I don’t think Sephora even stocks them anymore.
Last I looked, I couldn’t find one, that wasn’t a gwp.
I bought a 1 oz bottle directly from Atelier.
I purchased mine from eBay, but kpaint’s right. You can purchase the 1oz size directly from Atelier on its website.
It sounds really nice. I should try this Atelier Cologne.
It is lovely. Definitely give it a try! 🙂
You’re making me drool with that description!
KellyC, I think you would really like it. Sephora carries it, if you have on close by to go sniffing.
Lol, Kelly! It is pretty darn drool-worthy. 🙂
Stunning photo! Beautiful send off to a rather wacky week.
SOTD is BoE, perfectly appropriate for revisiting a reclaimed wood business here in town. I went yesterday and found a live edge slab I would love to use as a counter/work space. I’m meeting the van man there this morning to see how he feels about it. I’m thinking he’s gonna be A-OK working with it!
Happy Friday to all, and to the peeps in the southeast, I’m thinking of you and wishing you (and your homes) well!
Smelling good in Bois des Iles, Deva! EDT?
????????????✌
EDP. I’m thinking I may need the extrait, too! ????
Of course you need it! It’s almost a different perfume 🙂
You smell great! I was considering BoE for today (still do but will decide in 30 min after shower).
I see another enabler pin in your future! ????
BoE is a perfect choice for fall. BTW, where is fall?
Love the idea of a counter with a live edge for your van project. It will be so cozy once it’s done. Plus, it will probably smell great unless you seal it.
“Where is fall” is an excellent question! I will say that the temps here have toned down a bit and it’s been in the high 70’s/low 80’s this past week. The mornings are leaning towards fall but not there yet. Yes, the slab would need to be sealed, but it’s a moot point because I didn’t get it. The slab itself was financially doable, but what the shop charged for milling doubled the price. So no go. I’m sad, but I’ll get over it. ????
So sorry that the slab idea didn’t work out. I hope you find something you like even more.
My husband made our wood counters out of maple. They are really pretty. I wonder if you could get something like that or possibly butcher block.
Yep, this was a maple slab too! But alas, I must be somewhat financially responsible. It’s difficult to adult…I bet your counters are amazing! I love wood for countertops. So much warmer than stone.
Twins! This had migrated to the very back of the drawer, which tells me I’ve gone along time without wearing it. I have the EDP too, and I did miss it.
High 5, Twin! ????
BoE is yummy stuff, no matter what concentration you are wearing/smelling!
Thank you, and I hope the sun makes an appearance in your neck of the woods soon????
You smell fabulous, Robin!
I’m in vintage Coco EdT today, perfect for fall. If we were starting fall this early in Houston. I’m ready to bring out my coats!
Have a great day, all (and stay safe from Florence, if you are in the path!)
I am not ready! We should switch places.
Definitely not yet fall here, so SOTD is Marni – a favorite in any weather. ????☁⛅❄⚡????????
Good choice.
You smell lovely!
In JM’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt – love it when fall temps are still stuck in the 90s. When we (finally) drop into the 80s I like Dzing.
Happy weekend!
This perfume is perfect for your weather. You smell good!
Lovely scent. I always love Dzing too.
I definitely need to retry Wood Sage and Sea Salt. Lots of love for it here on NST.
Hey Jalapeño, I could send you some if you’d like. Shoot me an email if you still have it.????
I’m commando so far, but Mr. G and I are up in the San Juan Islands for our 15th anniversary and it’s quite cool enough here for a fall favorite. Post shower I will be wearing Dior Homme, brought with me specifically for this week’s CP. Happy Friday all!
Happy Anniversary! Enjoy your trip.
Happy Anniversary! Enjoy your weekend✌????
Happy Anniversary! Hope your trip is great.
What a lovely place for your anniversary!
Happy anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!
I love the San Juan islands. Happy anniversary, and have a great trip.
Happy Anniversary!
The San Juans in September – perfection! Happy Anniversary!
Happy anniversary and perhaps you can even wear DH together.
Happy anniversary! Have fun. I have a cousin who lives there. She runs a charter plane service.
Happy Anniversary!❤️????????????
Enjoy your getaway and happy anniversary!
Happy Anniversary! Have fun!
Happy Anniversary!????
Happy Anniversary ! ????
Thanks everyone! It is one of our favorite getaway spots, and we’ve had a lovely visit this time, as always. 🙂
Slightly late Happy Anniversary wishes! ????????????
Happy anniversary!
SOTD is vintage Dioressence EDT. Choosing between Dioressence, Encre Noire, Jasmine et Cigarette and Amouage Fate was not easy, but eventually green moss and rotten fruit in Dioressence won.
Encre Noire is on my buy list – it can be had for such a good price!
Yes, it’s a wonder this scent remains so good and so affordable.
You smell wonderful, I think Dioressence is so right for the season and it’s never boring, so complex.
Thank you. Autumn feels right for it.
Any one of those four scents would have been a winner, IMO.
Delrae Mystique – my first swap package arrived yesterday and this was one of the lovely extra samples. I think this would work any season, frankly – it’s one of those “put together” scents. Reminds me of Cuir de Nacre.
Yes, good description.
I’m in Cuir Ottoman today. I love leather scents in the fall and winter but many of them I prefer in winter. This one is perfect in fall to me though.
Happy Friday, all! I have a couple of friends flying in from Alabama to visit for the weekend. Should be a fun time filled with showing them the sights and eating ALL the New Mexican food! Good thing I watched my diet all week. 😉
I am not familiar with this one but fully agree on leathers in fall and winter.
Do try it if you ever get the chance!
You smell sublime, KellyC!
The leather/amber combination gets even better as it dries down. ????????????????✌
Agreed!
You smell great. I’ve got a decant and actually wore it in hot weather this summer! It was a little much 😉 I’m looking forward to wearing it this winter.
I did not wear it this summer at all and it is REALLY hitting the spot today.
Ack!!!i love that one! You smell superb! I may need to invest in another decant…
I’ll probably finish mine off between fall and winter. Will have to get another decant as well.
I might have to plan a trip there just to eat all the New Mexican food. *sigh*
Do it!!!
CO is a perfect scent. Have fun with your friends!
You smell fab! I occasionally give the cap a sniff and can’t wait til it’s cool enough here for it.
*weeping* please save some NM food for the rest of us!
Sounds like a great weekend- have fun!
Sighing with envy over all that New Mexican food. It’s prohibitively expensive to have it shipped to me.
Une Rose Chypree this morning. I seem to forget how beautiful this is. I probably should move it from the back shelf further forward in the cabinet, because out of sight=out of mind.
You smell lovely.
I dot not wear mine often enough either.
2nd that. Such a pretty scent for fall.
Very elegant scent!
Happy Friday!
1) Florence! Yikes, the flooding! Please be well.
2) SOTD: Cuir de Lancome, which I must dole out in tiny sprays, since it is discontinued! But it really is rather perfect for chilly fall weather. My absolute fave is Boucheron, which I wore earlier this week.
3) I also cleaned my hair with….WEN hair cleansing conditioner. I ordered it while late night tv watching and drowsy, It’s the fig scent, which is rather sweet but nice, and seems meld well with CdL and would also meld well with other perfume scents. But I rinsed VERY well and the scent persisted, so keep that in mind.
As to performance : It is exactly what it says on the bottle- cleansing your hair with lotion or conditioner, but somehow lighter than that. Reminds me of DevaCurl No poo products. After diffusing with a blow dryer I got perfect second day hair. Detangling was a breeze. Nice curl definition. My time in the shower was actually rather quick. I would use this every few days and use shampoo once a month for any build up.
I liked WEN and used it quite a bit back in the day, but I do think it ridiculously expensive for what it is.
I really DISliked it when I used it but probably because I was doing it wrong. I didn’t know I still needed to condition after cleansing. Deep
That said, I’ve been co-washing for a few years now and it’s solved a multiplicity of problems with my scalp and hair.
Yeah, I think this is the issue with a lot of WEN/DevaCurl customers- it’s not a 2 in 1. I still used a leave in conditioner and a styler to do the Afro this morning.
When I do cowash, I do notice that hair is not stripped feeling, my curls feel really silky and my hair has a subtle sheen. Gonna give it the full three-four months (that’s how much supply I have!)
It is RATHER pricey and I blame drowsy late night viewing! But it was on special – a big bottle and a normal sized bottle, plus deep conditioner and a hair oil, then THAT was spread over payments of 4, so not so hard on the pocketbook.
Ahhh… CdL is really a perfect fall scent. I didn’t choose it today, because the bottle is tucked in the cabinet. But…if it were cooler here, I’d be joining you. You smell gorgeous.
I like Wen. The formulations do matter…Tea Tree is what works for me. I stopped using it because I ordered a bunch of the bamboo one on special and didn’t like it. Too rich for my fine hair. Maybe I’ll drag it out again just to use it up. QVC often has good specials,, especially when the main guy is on. (My sister loves the fig…she has thick, coarse but straight hair.)
I really love CdL and getting it when I did was such a coup! It was a cool damp morning and so it seemed perfect! 🙂
I almost got the Tea Tree, but the Fig seemed intriguing and i like it. I have medium thick, kinky curly hair that I wear medium short. It was easy to detangle and after rinsing did not feel stripped at all, but still very clean. I think that Tea Tree would be lighter and fresher, especially if I was still doing hard cardio exercise.
The main guy was on and he had his models- really fun!
I have fine straight hair.
I met Chaz at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show a couple of years back. He had a booth for his pet products. He was very sweet and was happy to hear my sister and I used his products.
1) Oh! Then yes the tea tree would have been perfect. I am surprised that the Bamboo did not work out BUT that’s hair/ body products for you!
2) Oh, how super sweet! He does like a really focused and sweet person!
Hey Ede, Not to be a party pooper:
https://www.fda.gov/cosmetics/productsingredients/products/ucm511626.htm
I ordered the products at a fantastic price, used it for one week and threw them out. My scalp actually felt dirtier than before washing and was itchy as well.
Holy Moly, that is an eye opener! The FDA notice said these complaints are the highest for cleansing cosmetic ever.
Since I clean my hair only twice a week I may not experience the same effects BUT I will take notice of what is going on!
I’m wearing Oliver Peoples today. We’re waiting for Florence – the sky has clouded over, and it’s starting to get windy. My prayers are with everyone on the coast.
Stay safe and healthy everyone. I hope to keep checking in, but am doubtful that power/ cell coverage will last.
stay safe!
Sistine, I hope Flo skims past you with nary a breeze. Keep your head down and stay safe ✌????
Prayers to you. Stay safe!
Be safe!
Hope you come out unscathed, fingers crossed!
Stay safe!
Stay safe Sistine! Keep in touch whenever you can!
Sistine, I hope that you are safe and that your power is still on!
Angel Muse for me today. I layered it over BBW white mocha kiss lotion, which smells like white chocolate easter bunny head????I’m smelling pretty dang sweet for fall. Oh, I watched Rocky II last night, love it every time ????have a great friday everyone!
You smell great, lillyjo!
White chocolate (cocoa butter, vanilla, milk ) is my favorite chocolate! ???????????? YMMV ????????????????✌
(The above message is not pertaining to you specifically, lillyjo. Just all the persnickety “white chocolate isn’t real chocolate ” folks. LOLOLOL ????????????)
When I was a kid, white chocolate was hard to come by, except at Easter. I consider it a delicacy ????????????
????????????✌????????????????
I almost went with Angel Muse today since I meant to wear it yesterday. Got sidetracked with my Cuir Ottoman instead lol. You smell so good!
I had neve seen the Rocky movies until my fiancé made me watch them all and I loved them!!!
The first and second are my favorites. I still watch the fights like I don’t know the outcome ????
If I have your scent descriptions right, you smelled like a white chocolate chai tea today!
I don’t know what chai tea smells like, but I probably did!????
Methinks Safran Troublant and T42 together would smell like chai tea as well. Maybe I’ll try this tomorrow…err it is already tomorrow…I shouldn’t have had that cold brew at 3pm!
Like a lot of you, I’m still experiencing summer. The light has changed but the temps haven’t. Not much. So…wearing LAP Nuit de Tubereuse, a favorite summer scent, but I’ll wear it into October.
Yes…doesn’t even smell right for fall here.
Hi dear friends, hope those of you in the southeast are staying safe and dry! Not participating in the CP; Music for a While on one wrist and Bal d’Afrique on the other, testing out samples from my first swapmeet package 🙂 I don’t think I like MfaW at all. It’s…caustic. Bal d’Afrique is lovely, though!
I couldn’t wrap my head around Music for a While either – I liked the pineapple note but the rest seemed very harsh.
I feel like the lavender drowns out the pineapple for me! And I got what I thought was citrus but might just be the acid of the pineapple, which is the worst thing about the pineapple smell.
Oh I totally agree about it being more fermented, acidic pineapple than the fresh, juicy fruit!Disappointed.
Yup, that’s a perfect description of the pineapple–fermented! (A kinder description than “I left it on the counter too long and the bottom rotted.”)
Unless it is cooked down to mush with lots of stuff added to it, eating pineapple blazes a trail of acid all the way down to my stomach so I avoid it.
Hahaha! Oh no! I will suggest that you try pineapples on the west coast or–better–in Hawaii. I grew up with east coast pineapples that burn your lips and mouth and throat with their acid, but when I moved to Hawaii, I found the pineapples to be very low acidity, but with at least as much flavor and sweetness. CA pineapples are also relatively low acidity. So I think you must get–what–Floridian pineapples? that are higher acidity.
I really enjoy BdA!
I’ve been wondering about BdA for ages 🙂 It’s so pleasant and comforting at the same time. Happy to finally have tried it.
In the summer I spray Bal d’Afrique on my bare legs! I love how it wafts around me.
That’s a nice idea 🙂 I have never tried that!
I was semi revolted when I tried MFaW on skin, but I also couldn’t stop smelling myself, either! The far drydown (like 2 days later, lol) was kind of nice.
I tried it on again this evening because of your comment, and I haven’t gotten to the good part yet :-/ It’s still acidic lavender that I could as soon do without. Ah well.
More summer, please! I hope fall doesn’t come too quickly.
I’m not wearing a top 10 fall scent but I am wearing a favorite shower product, Vanilla + Bergamot Bliss Body Buff. Such a steal at TJ Maxx – $4.99! The scent lasts all day.
I love it too. You smell great. I haven’t been able to find it there lately.
I’ve got to keep an eye out as I’m getting low. I wish I bought more than one!
I have lotion but ran out of shower gel and haven’t been able it recently. I may have to resort to paying full price. I hope it’s not disco’d. The horror. ????
I am in my 2nd wearing of ‘Io’ by Chris Rusak from my sample dabber. I can’t stop thinking about how much I liked it the first time. The longevity seems ezcellent for a natural perfume and sillage is just right – it bloomed on me in our recent muggy weather. There is truly something irresistible about this.
No affiliation- just a bad infatuation!!
What is it like?
Hi Petunia, it is predominantly incense- of african origin ( the specifics are not listed and is not churchy. It is fresher, lighter – like the ligjr smoke from a fire that is burning the wood of an incense tree or maybe the smell of freshly cut wood of the same tree. It is never heavy or overwhelming.
Does that help??
Does that help?
Opps fat fingers! I meant to add:And not like CdG’s Avignon – this is sweeter –
due to the galbanum I beleive. It feels like expensive. Luxurious.
Opps i MEANT Labdanum NOT Galbunum so sorry – up too late 4 me! Thisteminds me of a Mona d’Orio style classic.
Thinking of people in North Carolina and in the Philippines too.
The weather here has been of two halves: a fall feel in the air this am and this evening blue sky and fluffy white clouds. I picked Must de Cartier which I refer to as the green Shalimar.
I felt so welcome, yesterday for my first post, I tried to answer everybody but in case I forgot anyone a huge thank you to you all.
Um green Shalimar?! Yes please!
Hello Kelly, you know, I think it deserves more love, it is often overlooked, so glad you are interested.
Must de Cartier is a favorite (I have many) , the galbanum makes the composition. You smell great, Aurora ! ????????????
So glad you like it too, I agree with the galbanum making it special and, yes, wonderful on a man 🙂
The bonus is vintage bottles hold so well.
Welcome!If I did not say it already!✌????❤️
You did, dear Johanob, thank you again.
A belated “Hello!” to you, Aurora!
Thank you so much, Jalapeno and sure you smell wonderful and seasonal in Traversee du Bosphore. It’s on my list.
Welcome, Aurora!
Dear Sapphire: Thank you and it’s great to have joined you all.
Not fall here either – for now – so I’m trying to use up some things I pulled out for summer. Today is Amouage Bracken, which is quite nice but not something I’ll need more of.
I keep trying to get an idea of what kind of fall weather to expect here and getting non-committal answers LOL. I suspect there’s a bit of a communication breakdown as I’m coming from a region with 2 seasons, not 4. There apparently is a fall season here but it’s either short or long and not summer and not winter.
At any rate, it looks like temps will drop in a couple of weeks, so I’ll get to see for myself soon enough. And will have lots of gorgeous perfumes to choose from ????
I am not in your area but it feels seasons have been blending together in recent years. It’s probably hard for folks to say.
You’re in Cleveland now right? I’m from northern Illinois, close enough to feel the lake effect in winter. I haven’t been in that kind of weather in years, and things may have changed, but I think preparing for bitter cold is a good idea. I know you hate cold weather, so I’m not trying to freak you out, but to prepare you. Bitter cold weather is uncomfortable at best, but if not prepared it can be demoralizing and crippling. Layer, layer, layer! Invest in a few good down and wool pieces, which will go a long way towards warding off the chill.
The one, primary, key, essential item is GOOD BOOTS!!
its so humid here..no fall weather in sight
In between the warmth of right now, and the hell that is winter, my area in Michigan will see cold blowing rain for fall.
Fall in the Midwest can be fickle and unpredictable, which is probably part of the reason you are not getting good answers. For example: today we are 82, sunny and beautiful, but the “average” high is 72, with a record of 32 for the low and 96 for the high. Yes, days can vary by as much as 60 degrees! Gotta love the Midwest.????
I would second Deva’s recommendation of lots of wool and down. I think you will be loving your electric matress pad this winter!
Another muggy, dreary day in southern NE so I went with just a few sprays of Chergui. It’s one of the only fall/winter scents that I have a BUB for.
Chergorgeous!
Ha! ????
And it’s worth it!
I hope we get a break in this yucky weather soon!
I’m afraid we’re in for another several days of dreary, muggy weather with the remnants from Florence. I guess we’re lucky that’s all we’re getting.
Hi, all – I’ve been lurking and reading NST for a while, but I’m happy that I’m finally taking the plunge and commenting!
Today, I’m wearing Elizabeth & James Nirvana Amethyst. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the later Nirvana editions, especially this one. It’s a dry tobacco, grounded with a little honeysuckle and vanilla. It’s nowhere near as ashtray-like as ELdO’s Jasmine et Cigarette, but it’s definitely a little smoked. Tobacco as a whole is one of my top fall scents – I’m looking forward to it cooling off enough to wear Tobacco Vanille! My fondness for these scents never fails to amuse me, since I’ve never smoked in my life. Happy Friday, everyone 🙂
Hi starling, and welcome!
???? Welcome, starling ! ????????
waves hello!
Hi there!
hello there!
Howdy and welcome!
Welcome!
Hi Starling, glad to have you join us!
I am a former smoker, and tobacco scents don’t remind me of the experience at all, which is maybe even weirder. If smoking was like Field Notes from Paris maybe I’d still be smoking, ha…
Welcome! Like Robin, none of those remind me of actual cigarette smoke-more like unlit pipe tobacco. Except Field Notes from Paris! Lol.
Hello starling!
Hi Starling! Have you tried Diptypque Volutes for a lighter tobacco?
Great that you’re joining, Starling – I love tobacco as a note.
Welcome to fabulous NST Starling!✌????❤️
Poudre de Riz for me today. One of those where I really dislike the opening but enjoy the dry down.
I too hope all of you dealing with Florence are staying safe and dry and receive no or minimal damage.
On the movie front, we are thinking of seeing Smokey and the Bandit this weekend as a tribute to Burt. I’ve never seen it.
Do see it! I remember seeing it as a kid and really enjoying it. Super lighthearted and fun. Who doesn’t LOVE Jackie Gleason?!
You should definitely go see it! It’s a classic! We *might* have a copy in our house.????
Theaters here are showing it too, I didn’t know.
I think it is everywhere. Always better on big screen. My husband saw Burt at a showing of Deliverance earlier this summer. Said he was very frail but very charming and quite sweet.
Made the trek across town again since the place that sells the coffee I like had restocked. While grinding the beans for me, the barista offered me a free drink. So, I tried a milk tea. Never had it before, but my goodness…it was quite tasty.
Where’s this coffee from?!
I saw Smokey in the theater when it came out, but I was too young to really remember it. And how cool to see Burt live at Deliverance, and probably one of his last live appearances, I imagine.
Hudson Market at 57th and 11th Ave. I just wandered in there once earlier this year and bought their Kona Blend (house brand…they roast their own coffee). The main reason I keep buying it is that it’s one of the few both I and my husband like…and it’s not hideously expensive.
I was debating between Cuir de Russie and Bois des Iles and went with the former.
We all probably came across those perfumes that we like theoretically but don’t really wear because they do not smell the way we think of them when we put them on. Cuir de Russie for me is even a stranger animal: I do not wear it too often because in between wearing it I think that it is of that kind that I described above, but then every time I do wear it, I realize that I actually love it. I should probably attach a post-it to my bottle “I enjoy wearing it” – so I’m reminded of it when I look selecting what to spray.
Happy Friday to everyone!
Ha ha. Yes! I love the Post-It note idea. Every time I wear No 5 Eau Premiere I wonder why I don’t wear it more often! I love it. But I am probably looking for something more thrilling, edgy, whatever. EP always delights, though. Post-It note on it for sure.
Hi twin! I know what you mean, not so much with Cuir de Russie but there are others – 24 Faubourg comes to mind – where I forget just how good it is until I put it on.
Hi twin! Thank you for the idea. We both smell great!
Undina You smell amazing! Please wear some for me!!
Lush Vanillary.
I remembered why I do not wear this too often,it is headache inducing! That’s where I’m at now… on my bed, painpills taken, under a blanket! No emergency cases for today at work so yay for that at least.
Happy Weekend All!
X
Oh no! I hope you headache goes away soon. I have a hard time with most Lush scents. I am not a fan. Something in their base bothers me although I know that I am in the minority.
Time to thunk it then ????. I hope your headache goes away soon!
Hope you feel better soon, Johano. ????????????
Vanillary is big, but I enjoy it.
I will wear MKK this weekend, watch out! LOLOLOL ????????????????????????????????✌
I had a solid of that one that I really enjoyed. Sorry about your headache and happy you didn’t get any calls! ????????
Thank you guys!!You all make me feel much better!!
GroupHuuuuuuuuug!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️✌????
Yeah, it’s a pretty full on perfume. I couldn’t keep wearing it but then got the solid which was better. Hope the headaches passes.
Ugh. So sorry. Hope you feel better soon.
Poor you! Perfume induced headaches are so evil! Rest, and feel better soon ????❤
Oh, wow. That’s bad! I find all of their stuff to be really potent. The store itself gives me a sore throat. Hope you’re feeling better!
Time to “thunk it”! Feel better soon! ????❤????????
Time to rehome that Vanillary! I hope your perfume headache is gone by now.
Headache was an all-nighter which eventually cleared up around 5am this morning.Phew.Migraines are the worst thing ever. Thanks for all the well-wishes guys!
Another Grouphuuuuuuggggg!❤️❤️✌????
Late posting here, but it’s fun to read what everyone else is wearing. I’m in Tibetan Mountain Temple for the second day in a row. My bottle is almost finished, and I’m sad that I won’t be able to get it anymore, but I guess that leaves more room for exploring other scents. Nothing lasts forever – and I guess that’s the lesson of fall.
Enjoy the dregs — it’s such a great scent.
Wow! Over 200 comments already!
SOTD = Angel Muse + L’AP Safran Troublant
Wowzers! Separately NSTers mentioned each of these perfumes. As I commented to Deva yesterday, I had an aha moment with this layering and w00p w00p with the results❣️
Those of you who know me, IRL and virtually, know I speak my mind. I work in an organization where transparency is important (although not always followed). An incident occurred where I could have confronted my boss about something he didn’t do (not sure why). I found out his omission through the grapevine and the only way I could bring his attention to something I noticed was wrong (small but very visible) that needs to be corrected ASAP was to tell him about his embarrassing omission. He is on vacation so my only choice was to go to his boss which I had to do to correct an issue. I’m sure he will be told about the error of his ways and there is absolutely nothing he can fault me with for going to his boss and I am very curious as to how he will explain himself. Anyway, I will find out on Tuesday.
Well, that work situation sounds uncomfortable all the way around. Hope it gets smoothed out with minimal drama.
You smell great x2!
Thanks. I have no time for drama.
Yay for Angel Muse which I have long threatened to get a FB of but haven’t and double yay for taking care of work business regardless of who (in this case your boss) erred.
I’ve kind of been in Terminator/take no names and dispense corrective actions as needed mode more than usual the past couple weeks for some reason myself. ???????? Let us know how it unfolds. Many days my mission at work is to encourage other people to do their best work by any means necessary…and to smell great. ????
Angel Muse is available at my TJMaxx. As much as I love the EDP, I want to try the EDT, for science….
I hope it resolves without any fallout for you. I wonder, in these cases where it seems so obvious, if it was simply an oversight.
Well, what I do is visible to my boss’s manager so fallout will be reported. In any case, he got a phone call immediately because there was a voicemail when I got back from lunch. We spoke but it’s not resolved. I have a 1:1 with his manager every 2 weeks and knowing him, he will ask if I felt it was resolved. Let’s see if my boss can redeem himself.
Hope everything works out at work. I have spent way to much energy in my jobs trying to protect people, and in the end, it didn’t matter. You really have to look after yourself. Any resolution on the credit card issue?, oh and half twins today!
One of my former managers said no one will put me as No.1 priority except myself. It is so true.
Nothing yet on the credit card. I’ll be reviewing the last statement (to come) from the old account and do a little bit of detective work to see if I can trace back from where it may have been compromised.
And yay on being half twins!
Thumbs up for your perfumed serendipity. ???? Thumbs down for your current work situation. ???? Good for you on protecting yourself when you discovered the mess.
Thank you.
You smell great. And I hope you’ll be able to put it out of your head until Monday and enjoy your weekend.
Heh, I am working for a few hours Saturday and Sunday due to Florence.
Bummer… Please wear something really comfortable (clothes-wise) and wonderful (perfume-wise).
The weather is not quite ready for my fall line-up, but I’m plunging ahead in the hopes that I can usher in some cooler temps.
I’ve lavishly spritzed on some PG Praliné de Santal. This is what I had hoped SL Jeux de Peau would be (which perfume did not work out for me) – rich, spicy, sugary-but-not-too, and nicely anchored by woods.
That sounds really nice…
We’re having a beautiful stretch of weather here in the Midwest – warm, sunny, non-humid 80 degree days and cool, clear nights – so I’m also in a transitional favorite rather than a fall favorite, Fendi Theorema Leggero. Frangratica lists its notes as: top notes are mandarin orange and pepper; middle notes are pink pepper, freesia, and LOTV; base notes are
sandalwood, musk and cedar (computer gremlin posted this prematurely!) For me, it has just the right balance of freshness from the orange and a subtle hint of fall’s delicious spiciness.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend and hoping everyone in the path of Florence’s wake
stays safe! (Happy birthday and anniversary to those celebrating, I’m not going to try and post anymore today.)
We are having that same kind of beautiful weather here- love it!
OMG not even noon PST and there are 252 comments! What are you all talking about? I’ll read up after I post.
Fall fave 10 Corso Como is hitting the spot today. It is work appropriate if sprayed very lightly. I have had a decant of it for many years but have suddenly fallen in love with it, so I think it will get a lot of wear this season.
It’s very wearable. I reach for it a lot.
I want this to work for me but it just doesn’t. Glad you’ve fallen in love.
I was doing fall all week and fell back into summer today with 19-69 Capri. I really like it a lot and it’s been getting a lot of where this summer.
Thinking about the perfumes I have worn most over the past month as spring unfolds I realise I have returned to perfumes that seem ‘content’ rather than ‘ challenging’ . Maybe I’m getting soft or lazy in my old age ( the same would apply to clothing choices) but it could also relate to the fair bit of travel I have done for festivals and public talks recently which can be a but stressful and the fact that I am spending a lot of time alone, writing and need a quiet head. So most worn perfumes:
Debaser
Gabrielle
Fiele Viola
Mitsouko
JM Primrose and Rye
Miss Dior (1947 but new bottle)
As each day progresses I spray one of these scents, so usually at least four of these will be layered eventually ( one every 2 or 3 hours ) and that seems to work in any combination of the above.
Would you ever wear all 6 at the same time?
Crazy week and finally posting after 4 pm. Top 10 fall is SSS Champagne de Bois. It’s still hot here but I’m staying in the a/c. Looooong week – first week of preschool classes and we had two cancelled days – one for a power outage that lasted all day, and the other following a break-in at the church where we are located. Bizarre week. On the plus side my son’s team won their football game and I got to use my new zoom lens on the sideline – decent pictures, need to work on my technique. Happy weekend to all!
It is humid and in the eighties here today, so I spritzed on AG Mandragore, something that I wear in summer and fall.
It’s not what I would consider fall weather where I am at, and I’d bet that several other commenters are in the same situation. It’s also another grey and gloomy day. I really am missing the bright shiny thing in the sky. ????☁
SOTD = L’Artisan Traversee du Bosphore, from the sample stash and a generous NSTer. This works well in both summer-ish and fall weather for me. ????????????????
The past couple of days were stupid-crazy-busy for me. The perfume to help me cope with it all was Cristalle EdT. My little sample is still hanging in there, ready to assist for the next round of crazy or doctor’s appointments, whichever comes first.
Cristalle is perfect for a gloomy day. I feel for you not seeing the sun in so long. I hope it shows up soon. ????
Yeah, I’m starting to get a little stir crazy from the lack of sunshine. Rumor has it there “might” be some in my area over the weekend.
We don’t get sunshine for 5 months straight where I live – 2 months in I start feeling very strange. The sun is so important!
We were just talking about the lack of sunshine at work. I feel like I’m rotting…so damp out and no sunshine to dry things.
So late! I had a very busy day at work, drinks with friends. And we had fancy hot dogs???? I choose a hot hot dog, hot as in, i it had a very very spicy sauce????????????…it gave me a runny nose…haha, but it was very tasty!)
Sotd was Winter woods.
Its almost saturday here right, I am going to bed ????????
I’m liking the sound of your spicy hot hotdog, and your SOTD! Winter Woods is lovely.
Winter Woods is great but I can’t even imagine wearing it in September 🙂
So perhaps already up above — I was perusing the Saks Fall 2018 catalogue and w00pie – the newest Le Labo is Tonka 25, available in October. I can see how delaying until after the city exclusives go home may make some people go back to the boutique BUT there may be others who make the annual trek when the city exclusives are available so it may not be until next September before Tonka 25 gets its full complement of audiences.
I’m super-late but have been in Michigan this week enjoying weather that’s in the 70s and 80s and not humid, beautiful blue skies, and glad I’m missing rain back home. My perfume the past several days and today has been Camel, which is fast becoming a real favourite, for this nice warm-ish weather and I bet for fall weather too (not that I see a lot of that).
